I have been a patient at Valley Eye Care for a number of years. I only have positive things to say about the professionalism and genuine care that is displayed from the moment you check in until the moment you check out. Dr. Hale is a joy to work with, patient and willing to address concerns.

Best eye care exam I have ever had. Staff are professional, friendly and welcoming. And prices are very reasonable, lower than expected for such excellent service. I was having a sudden onset of visual disturbance and even though they were booked for weeks they gave me an appointment just two days later! Very, very impressed!

I was appalled at the care I received from this optometrist company. I had to go back to get my contact prescription adjusted after the trial pair proved to be off. They made the corrections but treated me with malice as if I shouldn’t get the prescription adjusted. In the end the contacts prescription was great. But the pair of glasses I ordered had a flaw and the coating separated from the lens. This was a $1300 high end (they said highest quality available anywhere) pair of glasses. They replaced the lenses but took over 2 months and sent me out with a generous “soft” case to protect my 1300 pair of glasses. Their attitude and attention to quality was a deception. And waiting 2 months for a 1300 pair of glasses made in China was absurd. BTW the glasses prescription is off too but they never gave me a chance to let them know. I would highly recommend you go to a different optometry clinic.

The other staff members seem to be nice BUT the front desk young lady makes me feel she either hates me or her job. Normally at places like this, when you walk in the front desk people greet you warmly with a smile on their face. But she has none of that. Every exchange of dialogue is like an argument she does not want to lose or a burden she cannot wait to get rid of, impatient, dismissive, and defensive. Our conversation ended with I saying thanks whereas she did not respond nor look at me. If she does not hate me or her job, please provide training to help her to be professional. She is not at all at this point. Why would anyone want to come back after such an experience.

Dr. Is fantastic. Takes his time to go through my history which is extensive and watches me for potential problems. Staff is always kind, and professional. Best of all, theyre super up front and transparent about pricing. I feel like they understand that times are hard and did what they could to get me the best price utilizing my insurance benefits. Great office!

Im a college student whos been going to Valley Eye Care for around 2 years now and Ive never had a problem with Valley Eye Care until this year. My contacts have been bothering my eyes so I told the doc about it and he suggested it could be a number of things. He had me do some trial and error with prescriptions. I kept having to come back in, copaying every time, and copaying for the medications he had me try out. None of this worked and so I switched to a different doctor at the Corvallis Clinic who said that the treatment at Valley Eye Care was poor and the new doctor has been much more straightforward with me and is currently treating my eyes differently. My friend, who had the same problem about 2 years ago, also made the switch to another eye doctor after being at Valley Eye Care for awhile and her problem is now fixed. Valley Eye Care seems to want to keep patients coming back in to make a profit and they arent cheap. The doctor at Valley Eye Care did not seem like he knew what he was talking about either, as he was guessing at what was wrong.

This is the most considerate and nice eye place I have ever been to. I had an eye emergency while traveling out of state. Valley Eye Care was able to squeeze me into their schedule on short notice, and the staff was very polite and thoughtful. Thank you.

Absolutely best eye exam Ive had in over 24 years!! The accuracy helped me pin down that Ive been near sighted in one eye and far sighted in another and Ive finally gotten the literal clarity I needed to be able to see!! From everyone in the reception office to the eye doctors! These professionals squeezed me into a time and let me know about VSP ( vision service plan ) so my Co pay was $15 after joining them! Discounts were also applied to my glasses! Josie at the front desk communicated with a expert level of customer service and informed me as to when I would also be receiving my requested paper work and went over and above !

As usual, everyone was friendly and made me feel like my eyes matter!

Extremely disappointed in how my daughter was treated for her first appointment at an optometrist ever! All the exam rooms were full so clearly they were booked but my daughter cried when we left. She was rushed through her entire appointment and felt completely scolded by the doctor for not answering him fast enough. When she finally got to the last part of her appointment, after her pupils were dilated, she had to stop in the middle because she wanted to cry due to the doctor rushing her so bad. Luckily I was there and talked her through it but the doctor had zero concern for recognizing she was in distress! His only response was, we are almost done, and continued on. Once he was done, he ran out of the room to move on to the next patient. I was also disappointed in their pricing. After insurance, I would have had to pay almost $300 for one pair of glasses for her and thats with basic lenses! We wont be going back and I will be lucky if I can convince her to see an optometrist again! I get you have a business to run, but I expected much better bedside manner with a 13 year old girl who had no idea what to expect and was clearly flustered.

The staff is always professional and courteous. I get the impression they have state of the art equipment. I always appreciate their help in choosing frames and knowing my insurance benefits precisely so that I do not have to.I rarely feel comfortable with COVID protocols but I did with theirs.

I have been going to Valley Eye Care for my vision health care for quite a number of years. A few years ago I was diagnosed with glaucoma. They found it in the very early stages and have done an excellent job of treating this condition. I feel very comfortable with the doctors and staff and would not go anywhere else.Jan

I had a horrible experience here. I went in and felt so disrespected I avoided going back until I needed to have something fixed and finally went back in and could not believe how rude they were. I did not feel welcome and was made to feel bad about having waited to come back in and as though my problem wasn’t real or valid. Needless to say I will not be returning and they have lost my business.

Wonderful and friendly staff. Very knowledgable, clean, and helpful. They do not offer payment plans and automatically applied add ons without giving price point options, had to ask to see the price difference without upsells. BUT they were very understanding and willing to do so.

I’ve been going to Valley Eye Care for several years and have always been very pleased with all of the doctors, assistants, and office staff. Always professional, kind, and efficient.

This was one of two visits to this office that have involved issues, that generally can be characterized as unprofessional treatment. The most recent visit involved two pair of glasses and their cases that were handled by staff and returned without one of the cases. Upon leaving, I informed them that I was missing one of the cases from the glasses that were examined. The staff looked in office, and returned with a “sorry.” Glass cases are not a big deal, but this comes after being mistakenly charged previously for a routine eye exam covered by my insurance, rude treatment by optician, and optometrist telling me he was going to look up something for me “right now,” and never returning.

Valley Eye Care is truly my favorite eye care clinic in Corvallis. Their cleanliness and Covid preparedness is top notch. Their glasses are all super adorable. The staff is super kind and will help you with anything you need. Dr. Hale is amazing. He provides extraordinary eye care, and genuinely cares about his patients well being.

Kind of took awhile to get in which was tricky with a four-year-old surrounded by glasses. But the staff was all very friendly and Dr. Young was knowledgeable and kind.

Over the years I must have visited 20 different opticians and there is no question this was the single best experience by far.All the staff where a pleasure to deal with. The test was conducted very professionally and with humor. Picking out my frames and options was completely pressure free and I was able to try on as many frames as I wanted until I was satisfied.I have zero reservations about recommending Valley Eye Care.

Service was good and staff was courteous. I gave 4 rather than 5 stars because after the assistants completed the initial exam, I had to wait about 20 minutes before the optometrist came in to do the final evaluation.

On time, fast service

Took my glasses in to get them adjusted. Got my glasses back full of smears and fingerprints. I should have asked for something to clean them. Because of Covid it made me uncomfortable to wear them. I cleaned them in my car but didnt have a disinfectant. I did see the employee who handled my glasses use hand sanitizer though. Otherwise service was quick and friendly.

The whole team was courteous, safe, and thorough.Dr Young explained what he was looking at and what it meant as we went thru results of the various eye tests.I appreciate the time and info I learned.

Dr. Hale is super nice and thoughtful. The people who work at Valley Eye Care are all professional and friendly too. With covid being so scary for all of they were very careful too.

My new lenses with antiglare coating got scratched up badly, but since they were under warranty, they were replaced for free without the antiglare coating which hasnt worked for me in the past. They do the most thorough eye exams & 3 years ago finally corrected for my problem with double vision! My opthalmologist didnt figure out how to do that!! This last year, there werent many changes in my vision, but I am confident that they would notice if there was anything wrong that needed to be checked by the ophthalmologist. This is a much better way to support my eye health! Very professional & helpful all around. Only gave them 4 stars because the actual frames and lenses cost much more here, and arent any sturdier than the ones I have gotten at chain optical stores. And that is after my insurance discount.

It is always a pleasant visit! The gals are great, very friendly and professional! Alan always helps me find the just right glasses! I saw a different Doctor toda and it was just fine! Great place!

This is the best eyecare office in Corvallis. I’ve been seeing their docs for 27 years. And they have some long turn employees that have been there that long too. Friendly, helpful, clean and safe environment even with all the difficulties that the Corona virus has created.I recommend them to all of my friends and family too. Most of which are also now patients. You won’t be disappointed going here for any of your eyecare needs.

Good quality care when having an exam and when moving on to the optional glasses - lenses shopping. They have the exam system down and with the optical eye checking that eliminates the eye dilation procedure. All questions are answered and your exam results are explained clearly. A most positive experience with thoughtful people.

In these crazy times of COVID-19, I was impressed with the seamless use of protective measures that protect them-selves and patients, but don’t interfere with the care.

First, I have to say I have been a patient of Dr. James Hale for three years, and have a great private vision insurance. Dr. Hale is a professional and compassionate eye doctor, and I trust him and care about his advice. However, his staff makes me feel unwelcome whenever I visit them. For instance, today I had a brief interaction with one of the optometrist assistants and she had a mean and judgmental attitude towards me, just because I purchase my contact lenses outside of the US (particularly Europe and the UK) and could not remember the brand name. Dr. Hales receptionists also not so welcoming and they talk down, dont explain the contact lenses order and procedures clearly. Also, you need to make an appointment only via call, but because of receptionist attitudes, I tried to not interact with them and use their website. Unfortunately, their website is not user friendly at all. Overall, I am very torn. Their negative attitudes made me cry during my visit. Part of me wants to stay as Dr. Hales patient because he is a great doctor, but when you feel unwelcome, especially as a woman of color and immigrant, it says something about their business and values.

I received good service at Valley Eye Care. After having several tests done by a young woman, I waited about half an hour before the doctor arrived. I will learn later how much if any my insurance will cover.

First of all, I love the fact that I was able to book an appointment so quickly and secondly on a Saturday. The staff was very professional and friendly and made my appointment super easy.

I used to live in Corvallis and went to Valley Eye Care during that time. I have since moved to McMinnville and after several bad experiences at my local eye doctor I have decided to continue all further eye care at Valley Eye Care. Dr. Hale is extremely thorough and caring about his patients. (He is the only doctor that I have seen there, therefore the only one I can review). He is upfront about costs and recommends the best care possible for his patients. They also have updated technology/tests which makes visits much more efficient and pleasant. I will continue to drive an hour each way when I need my yearly eye exam and I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing a new eye doctor!

I was very impressed and grateful that the doc took the time to look up my medical conditions before I came in! The MEDICAL staff were all very helpful and patient with me. The sales person and insurance person were a bit inpatient with me and generally grumpy. I wish they offered some basic frames that were less than $175 so my insurance could cover it but I guess Ill have to go elsewhere for my actual glasses.they also require a $140 class to order contacts that insurance doesnt cover so thats not an option either .

I am extremely pleased with Valley Eye Care. I was in a lot of pain from a scratched cornea. I called multiple places and couldn’t get an appointment until later in the afternoon. Valley Eye Care fit me into their morning schedule. Additionally, they scheduled me a follow up appointment on Thanksgiving! One of their doctors opened their office and took time away from his family to check my eye. I am so thankful for Valley Eye Care for helping me through a very painful experience.

I went to Valley eye care because I needed a new eye doctor. Also my eyes have changed and I knew the prescription needed updating. I also wanted a fresh stylish new pair of glasses. I have several friends and family members who recommended I go there so I already had high expectations. I have had difficult complex eye issues since childhood. I have had good eye care professionals and at times in my life not so good.First of all I want to compliment Dr. Hale. He is a thorough doctor. He is very detail oriented by nature. I cannot Say enough about how important it is for good eye care to have a doctor that is not just thorough but intuitive.I enjoyed all of the people I interacted with. I found my new home for eye care.I want to speak to the costs. I know we don’t all have unlimited financial resources. However our eyes should be a priority. I cannot imagine life without my eyes ! Frankly you get what you pay for. Although I did not find Valley eye care to be expensive compared to others, I will gladly pay for quality.Valley eye care is quality. I highly recommend them.

I have never been treated so unprofessional.I book as a new patient a month before covid and got a text that it was cancelled ok I get itWhen things opened back up never received a call to rebook. So two weeks ago I called to rebook and was not able to get an appointment until August 15th today I received another text telling me they would be closed that day and I needed to call them to rebook. I didnt cancell you did why is it my job to call you? I have found someone new that is happy to see me I guess you have so much business you dont need any new. I have never felt the need to post a negative review until my experience with this office.

I had my eyes examined for the first time here, and my experience was positive. It reminded me of visiting the dentist (note that I enjoy dental exams, for me this was a good thing). The staff was friendly and professional.I enjoyed the amount of control I had over my options and the lack of scare tactics/salesmanship.Im definitely making valley eye care my primary eye care facility as long as I reside in Corvallis.

Its amazing that some people are leaving poor reviews because of insurance, their inability to show up to their own appointment, and being charged for servicing glasses purchased out-of-house. I have been a patient for over two years and have always been satisfied with Valley Eye Cares professional and courteous staff. They are nice, patient, and helpful. Highly recommend!

RUN the other way!! Rude, expensive and way better eye care offered in Corvallis. I had my exams and purchased glasses/frames with them for three years. I later purchased an extra pair from Costco which needed adjusting. They had gladly adjusted them before, but today when I went in, they wouldnt adjust the ones from Costco because they werent purchased at their store. I was told if I paid $30, they would make minor adjustments to them for two years without charge. Say what?? What about the glasses I purchased there for $600?? Sure! I mentioned it would have been good customer service to email or send their clients a letter concerning the change because I had made a special trip to their office. Told them I wouldnt be back and they could have cared less. I honestly couldnt believe it. The adjustment would have taken five minutes. Vented... feel better.
