I had came here to take my wife grocery shopping here (she loves her Japanese products!!!) and we went to the food court here and I personally got the Pork Katsu-Don and my wife had the Pork Curry plate. The food was amazing and we had switched plates beceach others plates was so good!! After lunch we went and browsed at the different stores and shops they had inside and I was amazed on the quality of food and other items, the overall atmosphere, how we were treated. Ill definitely will be back so we can try more food and shop for more groceries while having an outing to ourselves. Great job Mitsuwa!!!
So many great places to eat inside and the selection of Japanese imported products is amazing. I absolutely love this store and its so clean. Parking could be better but its Southern California so Ill take what I can get. Dont sleep on the place with the char-broiled beef tongue. Its the best.
Its a convenient place to go for groceries, food, and beauty products. Amazing food court (recommend don don ten) and cute stores on the inside too. They recently added a small arcade and mini crane games! The bakery is also super fresh and a good desert post lunch!
Been going to Mitsuwa for years love the food court. However parking sucks and the fish selection is average. Compared to other Japanese markets in the area.
They opened up to allow indoor dining and this is ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY. THERE IS NO SOCIAL DISTANCING ENFORCED AND PEOPLE BUMP INTO EACH OTHER LIKE COVID NEVER EXISTED. ABSOLUTELY SO DISGUSTED.Note: there is nobody counting customers coming into Mitsuwa. There are no cleaning crew after people eat on the dining tables. There are many people who forget to put their masks back on and walk around without it. The tables are NOT 6 FEET APART FROM EACH OTHER. Just in this moment, there are 70 people in the food court area alone without any staff telling people to social distance.
A very dear friend took me here over the weekend, which I didnt know existed. This is the place to shop for authentic Japanese supermarket items or grab a quick bite. It is a typical marketplace you would find anywhere in Japan. The prices are double here because the items are imported. This particular place is bigger than other locations in Los Angeles county.
Of the 2 Mitsuwa stores in O.C. our family has preferred Costa Mesa. It is older the the Irvine Location, but has more to offer in the food court and grocery selection is greater here. The store is always clean and though parking is tight we always find a spot.During COVID-19 they are open on adjusted hours. On site security does a good job of monitoring and regulating the number of guests in the store. The food court is open with almost all running but on limited hours. I feel Mitsuwa is doing an awesome job during these times and shelves are always stocked. Thanks Mitsuwa, see next week.
Parking is small and often problematic during peak hours. Grocery store is not large and typically more expensive compared to the other chains. Food Court actually has good selection. Look for sales to get your moneys worth
This Mitsuwa is fairly big. The grocery section is a decent size with a lot of sushi and prepared food options. The quality is really good, especially for a grocery store. Furthermore, there’s a small bakery by the sushi section. The best part is the food court, which is HUGE. There are probably 5-6 eatery options, all with different types of Japanese food (ranging from rice bowls to udon to curry). There’s even a matcha dessert/drink stall.Parking isn’t too bad. There’s parking in the very front, off to the side, and underground. It can get busy during lunchtime ~11:30-12:30, so beware. Sushi and other items come around 10:30-11:30 (bulk of it comes out around 11-11:15).
I love coming to this location! It’s much larger than the one in Irvine, and has such a huge variety of products. Plus they have Mai Dō, Hamada-Ya, and a Daiso inside! There is also a large food court, but indoor dining is currently closed (to-go orders only). This location is clean, organized, and an overall pleasure to stroll through. I mostly come here to stock up on snacks + sweets, but every once in a while I’ll try something different and I’m never disappointed. Some areas were bare (probably because of covid), but other than that the store was fully stocked! There are always employees restocking the shelves during the day, and they are so nice + helpful. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend that you stop by this location!
Gotta come here for Santouka Ramen! Also toast and food is pretty good in the supermarket
This is our little go to place… because it has so many options for lunch, drinks and deserts. We also step to the side and there is a Japanese market full of goodies. Love having the ability to get good Snacks, Alcohol and food. Plus you can rent Japanese movies (a rare find nowadays). Plus there is a little store with gadgets. It’s truly a one-stop shop… also there is a Daiso Store.
The best Japanese market and food hall.
It was a cool place an awesome place place where you can sit down and enjoy the culture little pricey but its worth it
Tight and compact location for a Mitsuwa. Theres an indoor food court located within and an indoor dining area. Theres a wide selection of products that are unique or difficult to find elsewhere. Prices are fair and the selection of produce, meat, and other food products is superb. Parking absolutely stinks though.
Absolutely outstanding. We went to Japan on holiday and it was like we were back again, at least food and shopping. What a fun place to go. We ate here and bought some very fresh treats to take home and share with family. Parking is a little challenging but there is a parking garage also. Well worth the 3 hour trip for us. I highly recommend this marketplace.
What a treat! This place is great. Nice selection. Food court food was good as well.
This is like a shipping plaza in a grocery store. There is a food court kiosks of offerings a bakery and a grocery store plus all the unique Asian cuisine that you wouldnt be able to get at the regular grocery store. I always enjoy going to Mitsuwa.
The most important thing to note about the place is the crowd it attracts. If you arent here before 11:30am on a weekend, good luck with parking and finding a place to sit at the food court. The crowd here are the type of people who would hawk over your table and swoop in the second your butt is off the seat. Just a caution, otherwise...The marketplace is definitely very unique, it has a good food stall market vibe. The food market has really interesting variety of Japanese food, I had a katsudon which was solid. The ramen at santoku was good but the best weve found in OC. There wasnt anything interesting at the gift store (I dont think Im the person its targeting). The grocery store was fine but nothing here you cant find elsewhere. Solid place
My wife and I love this place the food, the market, and pastries are amazing! A lot of different spots to get food its hard to pick theyre all delicious!!😋
The GOTO place in OC for all Japanese Food. Would give 5 stars if parking was not such a nightmare.
Awesome place good food good drinks excellent Bakery a small but really good
12/15/2019Bomb Gyutan.Menu 1-A with the soup.I go to Japan a lot and this dish tastes as good as the one in Japan.Tender meat, perfect hot soup to accommodate the dish.Strong Wasabi.I 100% recommend this place.I really want that damn cute maid poster but they were sold out. If you come here, please keep bothering them about it so they can restock the poster.
This place has always been the spot to get kyoho grapes. My favorite grapes that always bring back memories or Japan. They are of great quality here.
Great place to buy Asian groceries. My wife was also able to purchase sushi here as well. Theres also plenty of parking.
Fresh sushi and very nice baked goods. There is also a food court with nice selection.
This place has great produce. I also like their breads. Its a Japanese supermarket that everyone should visit at least once.
My family and I discovered this place years ago and we visit a couple times a year. The food court is great, love the supermarket, always run into Daiso to grab something.
Favourite ramen spot. Lots of great choices for food.
Much better than the Irvine one.You better drive 20mims more to Costa Mesa but not visit the Irvine one.
Busy af but the beef tongue is hella good.
Small supermarket filled with necessities such as groceries, beauty items, small appliances, fresh food, food court, video store, bakery, and so much more. The bakery was full of fresh pastries, the deli full of fresh food, and everything was fully stocked and ready in the morning.Credit accepted, free parking lot,
Used to come here for the Ramen, but now I just come here for the Mochi. Theres a big food court here with lots of food to try. Its a big market with other stores inside. They have a Daiso as well inside. If Im in the area then for sure Im getting some mochi from one of the vendors close to the front door. Always a great treat. Never really got anything else from this place, but I enjoy coming here.
Love the products in this store and its set up Just like the actual stores in Japan. Its got a food court and an arcade for kids and all kinds of booths for various services its really a true marketplace.
It must be so nice living in CA and having Mitsuwas conveniently around. Im from Vegas and we have 99 Ranch Market, 168 Market, SF Market, and Greenland but they cater to Chinese and Korean customers. We have a handful of small mom & pop Japanese markets - but nothing like a Mitsuwa. We stayed at the Hilton across the street on our last trip so it was a quick two minute walk to pick up a quick lunch/dinner, snacks, or something in the food court. Were back home now but I miss you already, Mitsuwa...
Mitsuwa Marketplace is a Japanese grocery store with a large selection of imported food and products. There is a skincare section, a Maido stationary store, a bakery, a specialty dessert shop and a food court. The dessert shop has artisianal jellies, cookies, gift wrapped boxed desserts and the best mochi I have ever had. The food court is well known for having delicious ramen, an assortment of tempura, crispy pork kastu and tasty teriyaki beef tongue.
Nice produce and Asian sauces, snacks & staples
All the Japanese items I could ever want, tea drinks chips, cookies, and even coffee jelly mocha (this latter at the bakery)
Beer 🍺 in the food court. Fresh sushi 🍣 real tempura real ramen 🍜 great market. This place needs 6 stars 🤩 unfortunately when youre this good word gets around and it cant get a little crowded on the weekends but its worth it.
This is a fascinating place! There are several stores inside, and theres a Japanese food court!
Great place. Great eye Candy.
Sort of mixed feelings about the market itself. Doesnt look particularly nice but it has a lot to offer. Most produce on the wall is wrapped. The food court is pretty good (except the iced beer is instagram worthybst best but is otherwise just a regular beer). Not sure if this changed with covid but most if not all, of the food stalls were cash only.
It carries most of the essential items and plus something for kitchen and bathroom stuff. Easy to find, enough parking space. A Japanese bakery and sweets stores inside are awesome.
Love their varieties in food court area. great food and clean environment.
Good food and a lot little things to shop in the 99c store which is inside the marketplace ...my daughter love it to go inside and shop little food erasers
Great place to get food and shop but parking is tough since its very limited.
Definitely one of my favorite place for dinner now. Great food and great price. Totally love it. Avoid weekend bc of the crowd. Also they close early. One of my fav store close at 6:30pm.
Lots of great food choices and fun to walk around in and see all the different merch!
Very good variety or Japanese (and not only Japanese) food. Quality sashimi grade fish. Inside is also food court with multiple small businesses that offer variety of meals
Wonderful assortment of good and services.
Good food. A little pricier than some other Asian markets.
I love the atmospheres. The best Japanese cultures in the Mitsuwa Marketplace.
Very cool experience, we shopped the $1.50 store finding many bargains. Then wandered through the market before eating Ramen in the food court.
If you like Asian n Japanese food, need the basics, anything n everything Japanese food, head to Mitsua
The best Japanese market around. It has all the essentials and great food court!
Great grocery store with such a delicious food court. They used to have an anike store here but now its a little pop up arcade
Food court and shop is high quality and food overall was delicious.
Lil Japan town...Good Japan market
I had some excellent beef udon and a side of tempura shrimp. The prices are reasonable, and the market was clean. If ypu go during lunch time, parking could be a little harder to come by.
Great place to get japanese quality products, was worth it.
Food court had wide range of very tasty good good foods.
It is a nice clean Japanese supermarket. All the restaurants in the food courts are open for takeout as of January 27, 2021. There are definitely less sushi grade seafood than the past but still very well stocked.
This market is so authentic. All of the restaurants inside have incredible meals. Its little slice of Japan.
I was here on a hot, humid afternoon Saturday, July 8, 2017 at around 14:00. The parking lot was crowded and full of people. There was almost no parking anywhere even on the underground garage. I was lucky that I saw someone leave at a corner spot. Other cars do not even follow the one way arrow on the bottom as that parking should have been mine. So parking here can be hard to find. Now to proceed to the store review, Mitsuwa is one of the Japanese supermarket stores that compete with Nijiya, Marukai, and Tokyo Central. I believe there are 6 Mitsuwa stores around Southern California (at the time of this review) and this location is one of my favorites of them all. Why I like this particular location?1. This particular Mitsuwa has a lot of mini stores. One of my favorites has to be Books Kinokuniya. I am not going to go on the details, but my friends always want to stop by for this store. There is also a J-style store as well that we look at to see if we can buy stuff like car accessories and other Japanese goodies. That is one of the biggest benefits of this location. There is also a DVD store right in the middle and a cooking ware store as well as beauty store (I believe it is Shiseido). Anyways....there is almost a store for everything and I will review them all on a future trip.2. The location also has a lot of selection of restaurants to eat. They have this place that sells beers for cheap. My friends took advantage of that while I became a designated driver. There are loads of food that I have yet to try it all, but I have to say that it is always busy. Be warned though that almost all of them are CASH ONLY. So that is the drawback. They also have several good desserts to pick from too. I shall try them one day and write a review.3. Sometimes Mitsuwa will have food events like a vendor coming in for a limited time to make crepes. At least in the past they did, but that is one of the nice things about Mitsuwa that I like.4. Now for the actual supermarket itself, there are great selections of Japanese products here. This time, I came here for the drinks and some hi-chew candy. This store did not disappoint. I would go on and talk about many selection of products they have, but I will do that in the future. This trip and previous trips, I would just get drinks.5. The cashiers are nice and most of them were actually Japanese. They said thank you in Japanese to me. Typical of a Japanese supermarket. It was funny though when I brought a box of hi-chews and there was ten, but the cashier charged me for twelve. I yelled out twelve!? She recounted and got ten. Yep, at least she admit her mistake, which was nice.6. Mitsuwa has its own credit card called JCB Mitsuwa. It has no membership fees and the best perk I believe is that you get nice rewards if you purchase at the Mitsuwa supermarket. The other perk is that if you do travel to Japan, I believe this is the card to get for you to use anywhere in Japan.Overall I want to say that this location of Mitsuwa is one of my favorite. Whenever I make a long drive to OC/LA I would always squeeze time to make a stop here. In my opinion, I like this location over the one at San Diego because the food court, books kinokuniya, location at Costa Mesa, and the fact that there is so much going on here.PS: You can buy alcohol, but you can not drink it in the food court. It tells you on the cash register next to where the credit card machine is at. Just remember that. They also have the beer vendor and maybe some restaurants sell it too and those are the only ones you can consume on the food court.
It’s my favorite Japanese hub with groceries, restaurant/to-go food, and items/accessories! My favorite place to eat some Chicken/Pork rice bowls is Don Don Tei. My college student wealth isn’t much but when I know I need to treat myself to something nice but not crazy it’s one of my go to places.
Great market for things I can’t find near home. Amazing food court
FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING!!!I would have given a MINUS 5 Stars if such rating was available. On 03/28/20, I came to Mitsuwa Costa Mesa to buy 2 Asahi Dry 24-Pk based on their ad on Flipp app for $16.99 each.At the checkout, the register shows $31.99 each, twice of what was advertised. I told the cashier that this is incorrect and showed her the Mitsuwa ad on Flipp. She then went to a 2nd lady who came to talk to me, so I again showed the ad on my phone. The 2nd lady then went to the managers office and asked for the manager mr. Endo to speak to me.I showed mr. Endo again the same information and even let him use my phone to verify that information which came out correct but still he said that this is not correct. So I decided to take a photo of him.At this very instance to avoid his picture being taken, mr. Endo forcefully threw my hand off to the side, to knock my phone off. My phone almost fell to the floor if I didnt have quick enough reflexes to catch it. Then mr. Endo turned sideway very quickly to evade his face towards the counter to hide himself from my phone camera . I told mr. Endo that there is no need to hide if everything was truthful and that was certainly not the right way for him, as a manager, to treat a customer as such, especially in front of 2 or 3 lady employees. The purpose of my post is to inform customers of such fraudulent advertising bait to draw foot traffic to the store, and of Mitsuwas horrifying interaction with their customers in light of a valid complaint. During this whole process which wasted half hour at their store, I have patiently remained calm but every step of the way, Mitsuwas internal escalation was to deny and blame, whether the customer or a third party, and to use thug-like physical conduct as necessary, WITHOUT A SINGLE APOLOGY!This is the first horrific experience I have ever witnessed from a manager of a large chain store.
Absolutely love this marketplace. Favorite restaurant is Ramen Santouka. The Tonkotsu ramen with extra pork is delicious. I come just for that! There is a nice grocery store inside with any authentic asian ingredients you may need, like sauces, tofu, and diverse seafood. Parking can be a little limited on weekends and during lunch and dinner. Also, most of the restaurants close early, around 6:30pm so come early. It is worth it!
Was invited with friends but not really my go to place. Friend commented basic Ramen price of $13 was a little pricey for a food court place...just saying. Walked grocery store a bit but will stick to local stores instead, not impressed nor planning return to this place.
