Interesting Japanese grocery store. Many items. Great food. 20% discounts on cooked food near closing time. The sushi prices may be a little more expensive than H-mart, but the qualities are good.
Tokyo Central has good food (variety and quality) and it’s fairly priced. I like to both snack and pick up meals here. Plenty of noodles and sushi options to-go. A lot of fresh seafood. I am glad to have a fine Asian Grocery store such as Tokyo Central located so close to home here in Costa Mesa. The service here is commensurate with the grocery shopper traffic. There is a small area for dinning near the front. You can tell this spot is popular because there is always traffic out front. I’m excited to pick up many more dinner entrees from Tokyo Central!
They have lots of sushi options that are made fresh daily. This is one of my favorite places to go to get the same quality sushi you get at the restaurant. This is a great place to be because you could do your grocery shopping too at the same time. They also have lots of box and bowl options that are not sushi. We like to buy their salmon box to bring to work the next day.
Amazing supermarket full of Japanese imported foods and snacks. Having lived in Japan for a year, coming here was truly a nostalgic experience. Literally everything is imported from Japan except the fresh food. The food counters were great! So many onigiris and even a Japanese style pudding. Not super authentic but the flavor is almost there.Japanese skincare and hair care is marked up heavily but it’s still okay. Asian products made fo’ asian peeps!
I’ve only been here twice but I love it so far! They have a huge variety of food, and a large take-out food section that’s filled with sushi, bentos, and sweets. I got some of their hot vegetable croquettes and they were delicious with katsu sauce. During peak shopping times the store can definitely feel crowded, especially in the to-go area because people come here to grab lunch. I would say the store feels more cramped compared to Mitsuwa, but if you’re in the mood for good Japanese food/snacks, it’s worth a stop!
They do have a small food court here and the food is surprisingly cheap and super delicious. Highly recommended for low budget people like me, but still want to get high quality and delicious food.
My favorite place to go especially for their ready foods/meals like their bentos. The place is always clean and and pretty easy to find stuff. Great quality products. Prices are not inexpensive. Parking is not too bad. I always find a spot even when its a little busy. And the crews are friendly too.
The security guy had attitude with me when i took kids to the wrong door (exit instead of entrance) but we havent walked into yet . He shook his head and shouted at me. I dont like this way :( btw the product are pretty good, fresh, delicious. But it’s hard to find items and difficult to reach an employee
This market is really good for sushi, sashimi and sake. The marker next to it, Seiwa is really good for meat. Everything else either market will do.I love coming to this market on weekends around 1030 am. Thats when they bring all the good Bentos, sushi that is freshly made and delicious. Imo, some of the best sushi in the area and very affordable.Overall this place is awesome and I love coming here.
Hidden gem. I have been going to the big chain Japanese stores for years. Nice to find this place. They even have a couple aisles of Hawaiian food.
Another haven for affordable Japanese fresh meals such as sushi, sashimi etcThe take-out ramen is surprisingly very yummy and high-quality for only $8, but when you reheat the bowl you should take the egg out to keep the textureThey also sell a unique snack that I cant find anywhere: coffee jelly, and its damn good
Large variety of Japanese non-food and food items. Many freshly prepared Japanese food, pre-packaged into containers, including sushi and desserts. Also a section of Hawaiian goods, including coffee, macadamia nuts and Spam slicers and musubi makers.
Large Japanese market with a particularly good selection of fresh fish, meat and produce. Not to be missed if you are looking for Japanese ingredients or prepared foods.
The best food n service around!!! Been going here for years for ALL our needs!!! Staff is always so friendly and helpful!!! Above n beyond a few times for us!!! Great selection!!!
God I could spend hours in this place and it wont be enough. They have a great home section to grab a lot of dishes but they also have a great bakery and sushi area. They also have little knickknacks which are adorable and fun to look at. And theyve got three I think aisles of candy. And its next to book off which is a dangerous thing for me
Very nice place to shop! Excellent customer service.
Great selection of Japanese snacks, sushi, instant noodles and cosmetics products. Love this place
Oh my god if you love asian snacks, sushi and everything Japan this is the spot for you. The sushi and the one to boxes to die for. Very clean and the people very friendly perfect locations. Wish there was one in Washington, California japanese folks dont know how spoiled they are.
Lost of neat japanese import stuff.Better stocked than other store at this moment. Food choices are wide.
I love the selection and quality that this store has to offer. I live 30 minutes away from this place but it is worth the drive. The only place I know of that has Portuguese sausage.
Excellent choice of very high quality products.I also bought Japanese strawberries for $ 30 for 8 pieces. yes it is expensive. but when I tasted it ... oh god! this is the most delicious strawberry in my life! I want more! its worth every cent.also in this store there is a huge choice of Japanese cosmetics and face masks at very good prices.and their plush toys are incredibly cute!the staff are very polite and quick. just amazing store. love it!
Theater was good. Food super expensive. MOVIE Cry MACHO was terrible
Always has what I need! Great place to get the finest ingredients for sushi and sashimi
Always love coming here. Their prepared foods always have something delicious, especially their takoyaki and chicken karaage. They also have a poke bar, freshly made sushi, and a ramen stop inside. From traditional Japanese foods to various other items, its an excellent Japanese market in Costa Mesa.
Literally this place is what sushi dreams are made of...amazing authentic food at low prices...dont see a roll you like? They will make one for you with whatever you want inside it! I can never just buy one thing from here, everything is so delicious!! Theres even a mini buffet for immediate hot food... And amazing beauty product section.. Basically just obsessed with this place.
Excellent, the only thing missing is the rambutans, not in contrast to yesterday that I was in the store, but you do very well, thank you
Love to go to Tokyo Central in Costa Mesa. They always have many variety of Japanese foods and snacks!! Especially they have lots of tasty snacks, like pokey!! You can buy Bento, onigiri, sushi and eat their eat-in area. They offer chopsticks, soy sauce, cups, napkins, hot and cold water. It’s mean, you can even enjoy instant noodle in the cup!!!
This is an awesome market and its impossible for us to leave here without spending at least 100$! They have an amazing bento section with a huge selection of foods from salads to sashimi! It does get crowded so avoid early on Saturdays, which was when we went and it was crazy.
Man oh man do I enjoy my visits to Tokyo Central! Not only do get have a wide variety of Japanese goodies but they also have their own food court where they make delicious food items in house and fresh on the daily. Ranging from fresh cuts of fish to a variety of bento boxes to more traditional items like onigiri, you cant go wrong. My go-to thing to grab is always their chirashi sushi! Its just so darn good and affordable that I even grab two sometimes. Some other items that I really enjoy would be their fresh fish in general (check out their cuts in the back), the takoyaki, the karaage and their poke bowls! 10/10 I would recommend you stop by just to explore the store and all the goodies.
I like it the place.Salmon fresh everything about the fish so good
Love this store but you have to catch the fresh sushi dishes when the fill it or they are sold out.
Nice solid Japanese grocery selection but comparatively smaller than TC West Covina.Come here for: home hot pot ingredients, deli bentos, snacks, instant ramen.Deli section have a 20% off discount after 7pm everyday, but will usually run out by 8.Staples pantry / fridge ingredients is a bit more pricey compared to Walmart, Target etc.Plenty of parking but plaza often get busy.
I love this Japanese store. They got all the things you need to make Japanese food. Their hot deli is great. Love getting a bento from here.
Our favorite place to go when we are in the area. I love the grab and go options in the sushi area. Snacks are always 10/10. Fresh produce, great variety, and much more. Definitely worth a visit. I hope the ramen shop opens back up once we start getting back to normal. It was some of the best ramen Ive had.
Dont know if I just had bad timing but they were stocking the shelves in many sections with large carts, making it very difficult to navigate the aisles. Deli section was amazing! Sushi variety was excellent and so fresh and super tasty.
We are hooked on to Japanese food and this is our go to place, from rice to raiding the food court. Good meat and fish selection. Plus my favorite Japanese beer 🍻 😂
It is cheaper as has more variety of goods.
Always has a ton of imported product, with speedy service. Wish I had one closer to home, but I make sure to come here after work. The ready made food is excellent as well. Reminds me a lot of convenience store food in Japan. Be sure to check it out!
A unique Made in Japan experience. Try their prepackaged Cold Brew bottles, it’s much better than any other
Nice Asian grocery with a lot of stuff from Japan. Has a small fresh food counter but it was closed when we visited, most likely due to COVID restrictions. Place is similar to a mitsuwa without the bakery and in store to go food shops. Prices were pretty decent too. I prefer Mitsuwa though, even though their prices tend to be higher.
Lots of interesting things
Love coming here to get the stuff I need for my family!
Great bento options and onigiri. The rainbow mochi was a little hard and dry.
Great veggies and alot of stuff
I love this market so much. You can eat here and shop. They have poke, udon, sushi, salad bar, and hot bar. Asian and Hawaiian groceries w/ fresh fish and produce.
This store is so organized and clean! Well stocked and neat displays of items!
I love shopping at this super market. They have many unique items are at reasonable prices compare to other markets. Their cooked food are at discount after 7pm. Cant go wrong shopping at Tokyo Center.
Love this store. Staff is always kind and speedy during checkout.
All good. Fresh poke bowls, Bento trays and desserts. Always a nice shopping experience at Tokyo Central👍☺
This place is more than just groceries, it is a lot of fun! Not a large produce area. Huge seafood selection. Great ready made meals, the sushi and bento boxes are legit. The little bakery had some tasty treats. Nice kitchen ware section too. I particularly enjoyed the gift department. Animated character products were cute.
Lots of Asian product especially Japanese product. Good price on lunch box.
Driving by this place on the way to look at a car, we stopped by on the way back. Great place! Right when I walked in the door is the Poke station with free samples yummy! The sushi while an expansive array of rolls, was not amazing but decent for the price and the fact that is pre- packaged.Cool little dining area in the front too.I would definitely come back and try other stuff as they have a huge variety of meals available from pre-packed to make-your-own, a Ramen bar and a whole lot of fresh fish.We bought a dozen different types of spam and some wasabi paste. This store is crazy cool I want to come back for the make your own food section they charge by the pound and everything looks pretty good and fresh.this store has mostly Japanese products and they have a couple aisles of Hawaiian products too. we got some Sapporo Miso ramen packs to take home it great.
A great experience in Japan for food and groceries 😉
Huge selection of high quality Japanese food, both ready made and raw and all very reasonably priced. Very fresh and delicious, our current favorite Asian market.Added bonus, all the ready-prepared food is an additional 20% off after 7pm every day making it even more of a bargain!
They have a large selection of Asian (mostly Japanese) and Hawaiian ingredients. They also have a food court with a large takeout section and a few food stalls with mostly Japanese options. I am really pleased that they have a variety. I enjoy getting the onigiri(riceballs), sushi, and Japanese curry. Many of the items are made on site. You can also get beauty products, toys, kitchen tools and appliances included rice cookers. They also have stationary, cleaning supplies, a health section, and a large area for beer, sake, wine and other spirits for all different price ranges. While it can get crowded it is not as crowded as Mitsuwa market. However if you are looking for more of a shopping experience and a larger more varied food court I would also reccommend Mitsuwa. However if you are looking for a specific ingredient, and a quick bite to eat Tokyo Central is highly reccomemded. Not only are they less crowded, but the parking lot is much more spacious.Tokyo Central also has great service and often has presentations and mini events in non covid times. There is also a used Japanese bookstore called bookoff near by, that sells both English and Japanese books and manga, digital media, video games and other merchandise.
Went in for some foot toxin pads. I enjoyed the selection and bought 2 of each. Used a pair...eww. I hope all the toxins are out!
The hand rolls are really good! Fresh fish too! Come by 12pm each day for fresh sushi combos
We had such a good shopoing experience at Tokyo Central. This store has everything. It felt just like we were in Tokyo. Beautiful!!
I love it! I can shop for cute stationery and stuffed animals, and socks while grabbing a lot of good green iced tea bottles, pocky, and onigiri for snacks.
Lots of choice, better price.
Really good grocery store. Super sushi and sushi grade tuna and other fish.
I love shopping at this store. When its crowded, its hard to look at all the different foods and beauty products, but when its not, its fun. I like how they still do prepared food, their meat and fish selection is great. The staff is very friendly.
Lots of interesting thing here, price is ok. Food looks good even though I hadnt had a chance to try (Stuffed myself up too much before got here :))
Huge selection of ready made foods and high quality sea food. I had never been to this store before, but will add it to my regular routine now that I know all the high quality food it offers.
Feel like in a Tokyo mini mart every time I came here. Everything i need fromJapan.
This place is great for Japanese groceries and other ingredients that you normally wouldnt find at your local market. They also have a great food court that serves ramen, fresh sushi, and a cafeteria (pictured) like a salad bar where you can pick what you want. The parking lot can get a little crazy because it shares a plaza with other shops.
Goid Japanese market. It is very tightly packed. Little bit hard to maneuver around store. They have tens of packed meals from$3.99 to $9.99. These males are excellent in taste and quality. They cost almost the same money as McDonalds but the food is healthy, tasty and well cooked. Salmon with vegetables and rice is about $6.99.
Whenever I need something they always have it. My go to market.
This was my 1st time ever walking into this store. I stopped by after having sushi for dinner. The only reason I stopped by was because my waiter suggested this place. I was intrested in the wine that I had for dinner and this is where he suggested I could find it. The name of this wine is called Takara Plum. It was that delicious that I had to come find it for myself. As I walked around this market, I realized that they had an assortment of fresh fish, lots of variety and a big selection compared to any of my local grocery stores. They also had a large assortment of vegetables of which I have never heard of or seen in my life. I was very curious, but did not have the courage to purchase any of the unknown vegetables. However, I did purchase a treat called wheat cake yomogi. It was a small treat, basically a rice cake filled with red bean paste simple and delicious. The Takara Plum wine is delicious, try it for yourself! The place is clean and they have lots of things to choose from for your purchases. The staff at the register and help counter were very friendly and polite! I would definitely come back again when Im in the area. Looking forward to trying some if those veggies!
Nice place to shop for Japanese food. Its like a neighbor store.
I love this place. Freshly made bento and Hawaiian goodies
My favorite market.
Hot hot pot pit stop. Mmmmm hot pot. Also, Aggretsuko snacks.
Great Japanese store
I dont want to give too much away, but this market has so much amazing variety and stuff that you wont find anywhere outside of Japan. I particularly enjoy their confections and appliances!
I love this place. I can get lost in there for hours!
I think the Hispanic security guard has mental health issues.Very unfriendly and inconsistent when he feels like it even to some of my Japanese family & friends say so... its sad. But not good for the community of Costa Mesa.
