Great store. Very organized. Clean, tidy. Decent amount of people coming in and out. Very much a millennial crowd. 90% of the store and Id imagine their sales are from digital sound vs analog. Which appeals certainly to main stream. Those buying the newer record players this is right up your alley. No turntables sold here but plenty of support the vinyl collector. Posters too! I felt prices were high but also comparable to most shops of the like. Will absolutely go again.

I ordered 5 records, all shown in stock. They cancelled the entire order without a word. When I emailed them they said someone forgot to message me and they only had one of them. Not sure why they cancelled the one they did have. They never said. After backpedaling on another title he said he had at first that didn’t show on their site, I told him I’m like elsewhere. He said to go to Amazon. Pompous, petty and poorly organized. Maybe it’s better in person, but site inventory is a bad situation.

Wowee, what a selection! I will certainly be coming back here to pick up a LOT more in the future.

So shocked to discover the best record shop in Orange County is located so close to home. Loved their layout with the space they had and how they set up drawers under the crates. Dopest record selection I’ve seen outside of LA.

My favorite record store! ive purchased the majority of my records here, they have the best selection of indie, punk, electronic, shoegaze, etc Ive ever seen in a modern store. chances are if you’re looking for a record, they will have it. owner is very knowledgeable and will place orders of records you are looking for if they dont currently carry them. overall my favorite spot and a hidden gem.

Awesome place! I was planning on going to another record shop nearby but I found out that this shop was closer to me. I was overwhelmed by all the records they have here. Quite an amount of new and used records. Purchased Michael Jackson - Thriller and found a used copy of The Moody Blues - Question of Balance in excellent condition.Will absolutely come back to this store when Im in the area for all my record needs.P.S.Dont forget to purchase your outer plastic record sleeves from this store. :)

Very dissatisfied with their customer service.Placed an online order through Port of Sounds website which clearly and prominently displays FREE SHIPPING ON ALL DOMESTIC ORDERS OVER $50 in the top banner of their homepage.My order was over $50 and I was still charged shipping at the time of checkout. At the time of purchase, I decided I was willing to pay the shipping fee because the store had all three (3) items I wanted. Two days later I received a refund notification stating my order would only be partially fulfilled.I called the shop and kindly asked the store to refund the shipping costs because (A) My order was over $50 and did not receive the free shipping discount as prominently displayed on their website at the time of sale and (B) Port of Sound only partially fulfilled my order.I was told they would not be issuing me a refund because (A) If I refund the shipping for you then I would have to refund it for everyone, (B) They tried to notify everyone the free shipping threshold prominently displayed on the website was wrong and they were working with their IT person to get it fixed, and (C) We are just a small business.I understand malfunctions with online inventories and the website; however, their callous and indifferent response to a reasonable request to fix an online order that was objectively botched is off putting. The Indemnification section of their T&C web page best sums up what they think about their customers.I can only hope their in-store experience is more pleasant.Edit based on response from owner:1. You told me the free shipping threshold was changed to $100 because “we receive so many orders for Record Store Day.” If shipping is so “expensive,” why offer free shipping for orders over $50 in the first place? Why did you tell me that in a couple of weeks the shop would again be honoring the free shipping for orders > $50?2. I did not say “I would go to a competitor.” I said “I would not be doing any future business with your shop.”3. I requested a refund for shipping only after you partially fulfilled my order and still charged me shipping which conflicted with the promotional banner prominently displayed on your website.4. I hope my order is not like “everyone else” where you only ship some of the items and then charge customers full price for shipping.Bottom Line - If you had simply fulfilled my order correctly with the extra shipping costs or made a reasonable accommodation to provide a refund for shipping on the partially fulfilled order, you would have someone who would consider future repeat business with your shop. Instead, you chose a “kind” response that signaled that my business and customer experience did not matter to you.

Port of Sound is an excellent record shop. They have a huge selection and the organization is top notch. The people who work there are very helpful.The only reason it lost a star is the prices. Its a bit on the pricier side and they dont have sales, even on Black Friday. Expect to pay more than Ebay prices on pretty much everything. I dont mind it since I love going to record stores, but youre unlikely to find a record youve been looking for and feel like you got a deal.Highly recommend it.

Hands down my favorite record shop. This place has an incredible selection and great prices on so many records. I’ve got some gems brand new for around $10. I mostly buy from here and probably won’t stop any time soon.

First-time experience was very pleasant, I was like a kid in the candy store. They have a great selection of hip-hop, and overall variety.was gifted to tote bags and a set of stickers, employees were very nice and friendly. Will most definitely return 🙂

This was the only store I could find that actually had the record I was looking for, it was also a fair price. When it arrived the packaging was very well done the records were well protected. They worked great I will definitely be buying from them again when I need another record

I love this record shop. Great staff, lots of titles that I couldnt find elsewhere, and Imglad I foundit after moving down here for school. The only qualm I have is the fact that the staff/business does not wear or mandate masks. Its a small shop, so attempting to distance from others is quite difficult. Otherwise, its a great business.

Friendly, knowledgeable and approachable staff! Helped me out a few times. Prices are about what youd expect. But the selection is awesome for both new and older quality vinyl. Plus they have turntables, needles, cleaning materials, and all sizes of plastic/poly to store your records. Check them out!

Made three orders and they canceled the third with no explanation, since customer service was lacking I canceled the other two and was charged a 10% fee... pretty weak. I should have read the terms before canceling, but I have never been charged a restock fee for something that didnt even leave the store. Be sure to read their terms before purchasing, if you need to cancel or return something theyre going to railroad you with unnecessary fees. I will never purchase anything from them again, and will spread the word about their shady ways.

On my days off Ive been driving around the county finding a good record shop to replace the store I used to go to back in my old town. Safe to say this is the best record store I found around here. Great selections, well organized, and friendly staff.

Absolutely amazing shop. Huge huge selection of new vinyl including many copies on limited edition lps sold out everywhere else--being sold at list here. Stacks of drawers--crazy but cool. Nice selection of used. Lots of categories. One of the best Ive been to. Oh--and amazingly they are open until 11pm!

What a nice record shop! Hyper organized with new and used mixed in each category. I was hoping for more used finds, but check the “new arrivals” file for each section.Really loved the selection of posters and $5 band and label tees too.

Love this record store! Great chilled out atmosphere and huge variety of records. Location is great and its always a pleasure to do some vinyl diving here. Staff is helpful and enjoyable to chat with about music.

Unfortunately, Port of Sound Records is just old, dirty records in not very good shape. I wish it were otherwise, but its not. Sigh.

Mostly new vinyl. One reviewer said this was the best in the OC so I went. Kind of disappointed. It has a lot of inventory if you’re looking for brand new vinyl . But used vinyl is lacking, especially in jazz. Also, the budget vinyl out front is overpriced. Most of the same stuff sits in thrift stores for years. I doubt you could give it away and they’re selling a lot of it for $2.

I needed a very specific vinyl that I couldn’t find anywhere but here. I ordered online (as I am in Colorado) at a very reasonable price and it has shipped fast and efficiently!!! 10/10

Friendly employees and good selection of genres and a select few bootlegs and rarities. Some employees will try their best to help you out and make sure youre totally satisfied. One of my favorite shops in the so-cal area.

Biggest selection around. Mostly new and collectible records. Friendly staff. You may pay a buck or two over online prices but supporting local businesses is awesome.

A very impressive collection, found practically any band off the top of my mind within my non underground catalog. That being said, I would find myself constantly surprised finding albums and artists you wouldnt otherwise find at hole in the wall record places, or even the basic pop vinyl outlests such as barnes&noble. I guess you could say its library is what makes it so impressive. If your looking for a specific record theres a solid chance this place has it.

Very good mood, the store is clean and always stocked to the brim! Very unlikely for you to not find your vinyl, the staff knows the store like the back of their hand so dont be afraid to ask if and where they have an album. Overall does what it claims, recommended!

Wide array of records and genres as a music shop should be. However there isnt really all that much of an organization system. Everything is alphabetical and only the top artists have label marks. Had to skim through a ton of records before I found something I was looking for. But I also suppose thats what comes with an old record shop.

Great selection of vinyl from all genres. I had to return a record due a defect and they let me exchange it with no hassle! They also have a dewarping device that they can use on your record for free if you buy one from them that is warped. Great service!

Wish I could post zero stars for this review. I have been going to this store for s few years each time I visit the US from Australia. I have probably spent several hundred dollars here on vinyl. These guys are ALWAYS more expensive than any other store (usually by 15-20%), but I have generally been able to pick up most of my punk record reissues here in the one spot. I also like to support Brick and Mortar stores. Now I live in San Diego I found myself in the situation where I bought a new and sealed LP only to find it was warped like a cereal bowl. I take it back and the clueless teenagers working there try to bluff me will a whole heap of excuses not to help. Finally they get the owner on the phone and he says hell help me out. Instead of replacing or refunding he says the only solution is to charge me $6 to run the record through the de-warping machine and $5 to ship it back to me. Its a brand new record! Why should I pay a cent more to get an item that I paid good money for (20% higher than Vinyl Solution in fact). The growing number of negative rumours about the customer service in this place are certainly true. They do not care about you, they just want your money and cashing in on the vinyl trend. So now I am boycotting the store and buying elsewhere and I encourage everyone to do the same. Strange how they dont seem to see that by trying to rip me of $11 they will now lose a few hundred dollars each year because I will never set foot in that store again. AVOID THE RIP OFF MERCHANTS.

This is the best record store in OC imo. They always have new and old stuff i want and i never have to dig in order to go over my budget. They also have a great metal selection. The online store is nice too.

I called to find out if they bought old records the girl on the phone told me yes they do and she kindly gave me the hours of the store. We drove the 45 mins down to the store only to discover they were out to lunch . We waited 30 mins along with 2 other customers who had been there waiting too. We then decided to leave and get some lunch ourselves, after eating and then shopping at IKEA we returned about 2 hours later only to see the store was still closed and the out to lunch sign was still up. We spoke to a couple who were waiting outside and were told that this isnt the first time they have come and the out to lunch sigh was up for hours. Wow so do the employees get 3 hours for lunch.....must be nice.

Love this place! Tons of used vinyl, lots of rare records, always getting new stuff in. They also sell turntables & other equip. The staff is knowledgable and nice :-)

My favorite place to spend an hour or so. Always getting new releases in and always spinning great albums that just beg for you to pick up your own copy.

If you are looking for NEW records, this is the place. Wide range of music, and deep selections. I scored the 3 record set of FU Manchu California Crossing demos for 25 bucks...lots of Doom, Stoner, Dub....They got SLEEP on vinyl. This is not the place so search through dusty racks looking for a hidden forgotten gem, although they have several dollars bins outside the store...Waiting for the Brant Bjork back catalogue to hit in Sept....a great place.

If you want a gift for someone or treat yourself to new sealed vinyl this is your place. The collection is vast, but the prices are close to those found online. Just your average record store. Sadly, no real bargains to speak of, just a well organized new collection. If you are looking for a Used gem seek that elsewhere.

Walked in here, only to hear F words and S words being repeated aloud by the employee (short guy with patchy beard) standing right along with who is probably the owner I assume (older man with gray hair) allowing this disgusting language in his place of business...He was lauging at the inappropriate language and conversation, keep that in mind.This was my third and final visit here. Only went here because they carried a certain single released for RSD 2018. They played the customer service part that night since I purchased 2 copies of the record.But this language being used by your own staff in front of clients/potential clients has zero excuses! What if I decided to stop by that day with my minor child? Yes, I would have told you and your staff off, but that is not the point.You are running a business, not a sailor bar. With the 40-50 percent upcharge you are asking for records, Act accordingly. Due to this gross behavior, you lost a customer, gaining nothing but negative feedback that will be spread on many social media sites. Make sure you let that guy with the patchy beard know how great he sounded to a client who really appreciated his language. This is the kind of people you employ?NOT TO MENTION WHEN YOU WALK IN HERE YOU ARE NOT GREETED BECAUSE THE EMPLOYEES ARE IN A DEEP UNPROFESSIONAL CONVERSATION WITH EACHOTHER.If I could give them a-10 star rating I would. Disgusting.

Ordered online, still waiting for my record which is almost 2 weeks late now. Customer service took 5 days to respond to my initial query, and when they did they were unhelpful, patronising, and disingenuous. Will not be placing an order with them again. Disappointing as the record was a gift for my father who was visiting me for 3 weeks, and they couldnt manage to deliver within that window despite promising a 2-5 business day delivery.
