This is a great place for finding minerals, beads, and jewelry stones. They’ve got a very wide selection. I would recommend you plan ahead since you’ll probably spend at least an hour here if you want to be able to look at everything in the shop.

This store has a vast, quality selection of beads and stones for jewelry making as well as larger rocks for decorating purposes. Their prices are reasonable and the staff knowledgeable. I look forward to returning soon!

I’ve always loved this place and today I finally took my husband. We had fun looking at different rocks and minerals and took home a beautiful 40 pound amethyst, a chunk of honey calcite, and a few gifts. The staff was so friendly and helpful today. We’ll definitely be back in the future!

It’s nice. Maybe a little overpriced on some things as I’ve picked up some of the same rocks on the creek banks behind my home. I did purchase some Opalite (which is actually glass imitation of opal) and some Brazilian Agate. Very beautiful selection.

This place has a fantastic selection of rocks, pendants, crystals, shells, beads, etc. The price is very reasonable too! It is pretty well organized and most every stone or crystal is labeled.

If you are looking for great deals on stones, this is the best place around. I drive from the Frisco area to this store because they have the best prices and everything you are looking for from raw stones to pendants to tumbled stones!

This was my first time here and was really in awe when I first walked in. There are so many rocks and stones, beads, charms and so much more. There were at least 4 employees but none were welcoming upon first entering. A lady asked if I needed help ten mins in. It would of been nice if she told about the plastic bags and trays to carry the things you may want to buy. You also have to write on a small plastic bag the price of the item. Instead I had to backtrack and hunt all the prices down. The prices seem good. I got a bunch of little things for under $30. I will be coming back.

This is the best place around if you need jewelry making materials. They have a great selection of beads, wire, cabs, ect. They also have amazing gemston pieces for collectors. I always end up spending an hour here. The staff is always very helpful and nice, I love this place!

I will add to the collection of great reviews. The selection is outstanding. The variety of beads, minerals, stones etc are absolutely beautiful and shockingly cheap. My boyfriend and I spent probably 2 hours there and I still didnt see everything they have to offer. They by far have the best selection of anything you are looking for. It is clearly a HIDDEN GEM!

This shop has been in business almost 50yrs! Went for the first time today and I was dazzled by the size, inventory, prices and service. I was looking for moldavite, which they do not carry bc there’s so much fake flooding the market and you need a mega laboratory to determine the difference. That says integrity to me. I will definitely be returning!!! Their prices cannot be beat either!!! Store clerks know their stuff too.

Not gonna lie prices are good, but yesterday my friend and I went and overheard something incredibly rude. A lady went in there and bought stuff and was talking to the lady at the register. The customer mentioned her dead brother and next thing I know the guy at the the register just dismissed her and said “next customer “ and the lady the customer was talking to just walked away. The customer grabbed her large box and walked out cause basically she was ignored. We actually left cause we found it so rude. Be rude to customers when needed, I’m all for it, but that was just disrespectful. Will never return again.

Best place to find exotic rocks.

I got to show my 5 year old all the rocks and shells that they had. He loved every bit of it. We did bring some of the colorful rocks home and after we make some space we may get some shells to.

Lots of really cool stuff. Definitely the place to go for carved stones/bones, and fancy gemstones in general.

Im a traveling wire wrap artists (basically a glorified clean train kid). Ive shopped here several times. The prices are bad compared to other shops around the US. Normally spending closer to 100 than 45 a visit. They never seem to remember me, they always give white glares and hoover gnatingly about. Especially the tallish white lady.

Great crystals and great prices. Ive started making my own jewelry and this place has just about everything I need and more. The majority of the stones here have a good, clean energy feel to them. If youre looking for a shop that offers the best return on value, its here. Its not like oher shops that burn incense, candles and charge the space. This ones more commercialized but perhaps thats why they have great deals.

The staff here is super nice and friendly. Theyre super helpful too. The selection was great and there was a lot to see. I kinda wish everything was sorted with every piece and size of the same rock in the same area, but it was still fun looking through all the gems.

I absolutely love this store! The staff is just fantastic and the items are priced very reasonably. I just wish I hadnt moved all the way to Denton. I loved spending hours up there looking at everything. Several times a week sometimes. The staff didnt seem to mind me hanging out up there. Could have been pity because they know Im disabled and have really nothing else to do besides make jewelry and add to my rock collection. But I prefer to think that it was just because they are amazing people who are happy to see others who are passionate about rocks. I was always grateful for their kindness because I had a very negative experience with a similar kind of shop that was located in Richardson. Fortunately I found the Rock Barrel after that and have since had nothing but great experiences with them. These are definitely the kind of people you prefer to be receiving your money at the end of the day. Its always better to have a family owned business with great stock and an even greater staff be the ones who profit from your patronage! Yeu didnt have one of the exact items I was looking for, but they had everything else and something close to it. Process were reasonable. Displays were minimalistic(no fancy shelves, the focus was on the merchandise). Staff were friendly.

The shopkeeper is knowledgeable, and the store is laid out well for kids to find cheap rocks with the pricier items generally out of their reach. Cash is strongly preferred for smaller purchases. Highly recommended.

I came into the Rock Barrell just to look around. Wow, the have a ton to see. The store is huge with everything you can image. The staff was informative and nice. I bought a few things that I wasnt even looking for but, there is so much to see and search through. I will definitely be back.

What a cool place hidden around the High Five area. For all those DIY (do-it-yourself) fans, this place is a must-visit! I have been here a few times unintentionally because of a local business in the same shopping center, just to check it out, and I was impressed with their inventory, especially the prices. Whenever I have the chance I will definitely bring my wife to check it out, whom Im sure is going to love it!

The Rock Barrell is the very best place to shop for all occasions; especially Christmas. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, kind, patient and courteous. They always seem to have new rocks, fossils, minerals and beads every time I am in there. All at a great price.

As BIG as the store and selection is...I still came out with nothing. The stones I were looking for were not there or the selection wasn’t that great. They have a lot of items and beads to MAKE jewelry (not really buy it, as someone else posted), so if you’re into MAKING jewelry, this is the store for you. I won’t be back due to being followed around the store by an employee while I was browsing

Unwelcoming and unfriendly staff (I tried being almost overly friendly and it still didnt help). Overpriced as far as stones. Lots of cheap beads and pendants if thats what you need. The staff suddenly became nice when I went to check out with a large purchase. I used to really love this shop and could overlook the employees but I just cant go back to a place with such negative energy. If you decide to go I hope you have a better experience with the staff than I did.

So far this is the best source Ive found in DFW for small crystals and semi-precious stones. You will find something beautiful for a reasonable budget. However, I would like to point out, if you are looking for medium or large size crystals, cathedral geodes, the selection is poor and overpriced. Also customer service needs improvement too. If you are buying multiple larger crystals and try to negotiate a deal for long time customers, there is no chance to get any discount.

Excellent selections and service. Have gone here for over a decade and always a worthwhile trip. Great for the small beader, but they also cater to wholesalers with everything from small findings to large rock tumblers and all the needs in between. Easy location very near LBJ and Central High 5 interchange.
