I will only ever come here for cameras, lenses, and rentals. I have never had a business take better care of me and go above and beyond for me the way they do. Whether you are a new customer or have been coming in for years, your business is guaranteed to be appreciated here! They are so helpful and I always leave here with exactly what I need and then some. I couldn’t recommend anyone else cause no one else can beat them!

This is the best camera shop that I have ever been to. Nate and the gang are very knowledgeable and great customer service. They will let you step out and try a lens or camera. Nate will take your gear as a trade in and give you a decent price for it. They have new and used gear as well as new drones. I have spent thousands of dollars at Focal Point and would reccomend it to anyone of all levels from beginner to pro.

Focal Point nailed what Starbucks has been in a mission to do, create the Third Place. Even if I dont plan on buying anything, I love going into the store and chatting with the employees or other customers. There is so much experience and awesome camera gear in that store.They are amazing and very fairly priced for lens rentals and have always worked with me. I love that they will promote and try to empower their customers.Even though there are closer options to me, Id rather drive out of my way to visit Focal Point.

Great little store, I live in the Salem area and made the drive out. I bought a used Sony a6600 plus a lens from this store and saved a good chunk compared to new and the camera was in perfect shape. They are also friendly and knowledgeable. What I really liked is that they didnt get pushy or try to upsell on anything.

After moving to Salem I was on the hunt for a new local store to support. I was greeted immediately, helped with what I needed and also found stuff I didnt even know I needed. There was never any pressure to purchase anything. Having a local store with that big of a selection and a rental program is amazing. So glad I found Focal Point Photography! Thank you!

This is actually my second review of this shop. I just cant say enough good things about these folks. I dont review businesses online, I was an executive chef and have seen the ridiculousness of online reviews. However this place deserves every amount of praise. This is how you do it, I feel attended to every time I do business here, and I live in Seattle! That is right I live 230 miles away and, I do all my camera gear shopping here. I am most likely their furthest away regular customer. In this moment it is buy local or bye local. This is the perfect example of a place to patronize in these times. They have a great prices and even if you can save a fraction of the price online, Focal Point more than makes up for it customer service. I can honestly say that I wouldnt be as far as I am in my photography journey if it wasnt for Nate, and his staff. Thank you for everything guys!!!!

This place is great. I went in to purchase a drone and some accessories and one of the primary accessories I needed was a Micro SD card. To my surprise, I was informed that the store included the card with my purchase. Couple days later, my boss decided to call them up, buy a drone, and asked me to pick it up for him. Great photo shop in a time when photo shops are not what they used to be.

My mother has been going here for years so i decided to stop by, i needed a new camera bag, tripod, some filters and had questions on some lenses. The staff asked me some questions about what kind of photography i liked to do and what i was looking for and helped me find EXACTLY what i needed and awesome prices too. I even mentioned wanting to do some astrophotography and they were nice enough to help me look through lenses and give advice on what does and doesnt work. I love this shoo and ill never go anywhere else!!!

Great prices, fast and reasonable price

When I walked into the store I was greeted by Nate. This was the first time in 8 photography stores in 3 days that I had been greeted. I was made to feel very welcome. I explained that I am new to photography and needed a lens for astrophotography for my Panasonic S1 camera. Nate was very helpful and I am happy to say when I left I had a new lens. Since I have been home for a couple months now. I have called a few times and they have always been very helpful over the phone. When I am looking for something new or used my first call will always be these folks.

Simply outstanding. You know, when you picture the cliches of a small town business. You picture the clerk who knows his product, the great customer service, a business big enough to serve you but small enough to get a personal relationship with. That is focal point photography, they are so helpful, they know their product and theyre willing to help teach you on things that youre curious about. I would recommend the store to beginners, intermediate, even professionals they have everything for anyone with actual product knowledge to help you get what youre looking for. Awesome camera store and fantastic customer service! I dealt with Nate primarily and he was very thorough and extremely fair. They bought some of my stuff for cash and I traded in for a filter kit. What was very cool was when I had to bring back the filter kit as it wasn’t the right product for me I was immediately able to utilize that store credit to put towards trading in for a new lens. This is the kind of customer service that’ll keep me off Amazon and in the stores.. This is the place to find quality secondhand gear as well as great glass. Having been up and down the PNW I can tell you this is the best camera store I’ve come across anywhere from the SF Bay area to Canada. If you want a fair trade or sale of your stuff or you just want to find some new gear without breaking the bank, this spot is worth a drive to get to. Nate and the gang are awesome! Great deals and a HUGE selection on cameras. They are also very supportive of the local photography community and sponsor the State Fair every year. (except for COVID 2020, LOL). Keep it up, will be back again to purchase, then ask for forgiveness from the wife.

Support this business! Just like all their other reviews, this is an excellent shop. I live in Seattle and will be doing all of my photo gear purchasing with these folks. I get such a pretentious vibe from so many camera stores I have visited. Focal Point feels like the opposite of that. I was traveling to Portland almost every week renting from a major lens house. Their rules and return policies and most of all distance were costing me more than it was worth. I had shared my frustration with my colleagues and Focal Point kept being referred so I decided to give them a try.They are family owned, which is unfortunately uncommon these days in the photo and video equipment industry. I walked in the first time and was given a personal tour of the facility which I thought was such a great experience.Their lens selection is great, Im a Canon user and they always have the lenses I need to rent. Their rates are competitive and one time I couldnt get back to return on time and they said dont worry about it. WHAT!? They didnt charge me for being late! TAKE ALL MY MONEY!Seriously, Nate and his team are some of the nicest people Ive come in contact and Im so proud to support a local business that puts the customer first.Will be shopping with them forever.

It’s always a pleasure to visit the people at this amazing, well-stocked, small-town photography store. The owner and employees are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The store is always clean and mostly organized (they usually have a *lot* of used cameras there!), and the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. They’re reasonable and flexible, and always willing to make a deal. I would definitely recommend stopping in here, even if you live out of town. It’s worth a fairly long drive.The only thing I don’t like about this place is the fact that the entrance from the main road is a little too narrow, so that it’s difficult for a car to enter while another is leaving, and the parking lot is a little on the small side. Although they should be packed all day, every day, this isn’t much of an issue because they are sadly under shopped.

Focal Point is ON point. Its a camera shop that camera shops used to be like. Incredibly friendly and helpful employees let you play with anything and everything they have in store. And let me tell you, they have A LOT in store. I havent seen that many quality used cameras and lenses outside of Portland. Their prices are also very competitive. Yeah, sure, you can probably get a few better deals online. But can you try 6 lenses with zero risk and get pointers from pros online? HELL NO! They will be my go-to camera shop until my dying breath.

This place is absolutely amazing! The service was great, the guys working are super knowledgeable and SO nice, and their prices are pretty awesome too. I have a camera store 3 minutes from my house but I still drive to Dallas because rentals are half as much. Customer service is excellent and they have an endless inventory of reasonably priced used gear! I’ll be a customer for life!

Focal Point is everything a camera store should be. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the merchandise is the best available and well selected, and their prices are often lower than the big New York camera emporiums. To make it even better, a visit to Focal Point is like going to an old fashioned general store where you can visit with other people who love photography, share information, and enjoy fellowship. There aren’t many places like this left, and I’m so grateful to have them nearby.

My favorite store ever! I live an hour away, but I make the trip because it is worth it! Nate is so helpful and friendly, as are everyone else there! They let me, a 17 year old kid take expensive lenses and cameras outside and try them out free of charge, and I just bring it back in after trying it for 5 or 10 minutes! Their prices are great too! I have gotten good deals from them on lenses and ND filters before, and I got a print from them once, and it was affordable and the quality was amazing! (It made my amazing photography look even better!) Haha. Love this place.

This is THE place to go if you want the best of the best. The best equipment (beginner? No problem!) and the best photography advice. Mike is amazing and patient. I ended up with a wonderful set-up last Christmas and have been extremely happy with my equipment. Not to mention the fact that my photos are second to none! Highly recommend!

Came in for a film camera. Paid a good price for a brand new 50 year old camera. They threw in a free roll of film, showed me how to use a film camera, and gave me a free camera bag.Great staff, friendly, knowledgeable, tons of new and used gear. Dont get overwhelmed on the second floor. Its a used gear pickers dream up there! Disappointed I didnt know they were there before. Ive been driving all the way to Portland.Only issue is they dont open at 7/8 am :(

Drove all the way down from Vancouver, BC to visit this store just from the reviews and recommendations that we read on-line. We were absolutely blown away by the incredible service that we received from Josh and his colleagues. First and foremost, they are friendly and incredibly easy to talk to and they listen to your questions. Second you can tell that they enjoy working in the photo business and have a real passion for it that is passed on to the consumer. Every question my wife had about her new a7iii was answered and anything they werent sure of, they looked up so as to not give misinformation. If you are looking for new equipment, replacement parts or a few accessories, then I would not bother going to the big box stores. Focal Point has everything you need and at the same price as a big box store but with loads of expert advise and they genuinely love to hear your picture adventure stories to pass on to future customers. Recently I had to go and sell off some equipment I cant use anymore and didnt want to deal with Craigslist and buyers for 4 different items. Honestly, I expected to get gouged, but they asked me how much I wanted - looked at my items - and offered me $30 MORE. $180 rather than the $150 I was kinda hoping to get close to. Ive referred people here before, and Ill continue to do so. Absolutely fantastic place, super friendly people, and I cant say enough about how much I appreciated them offering me more than I was asking. That was just incredible. Im a disabled vet and had a few medical issues pop up recently and every bit helps - I didnt give them my sob story, though. Theyre just good and fair people running a great business. All the staff members are a joy to work with. I came across Focal Point, trying to find a place to rent lenses for a weekend. The process was easy and have since returned many times. I have received a lot of advice regarding photography and gear. Their customer service is on point!

This store seems very out of place in the little town of Dallas. WOW, do they have a LOT of gear. They have an entire wall of bags, new and used bodies and lenses, a large selection of high quality tripods, just an awesome selection. I am a digital shooter, but was impressed by the support they still have for film and developing also.The staff were all friendly and very helpful, laid back, and didnt pressure me. I HIGHLY recommend this shop. I live closer to Portland than Dallas, but wont go any where else when I want to make a purchase of any size.They also rent lenses for a really fair price.
