The owner was knowledgeable he gave me a good deal on a coin that was more on Amazon or any website. I highly recommend this place!
I called just a few minutes ago. I have some old coins received from my recently deceased mother. My siblings and I are looking for an appraisal to ensure that the inheritance is split fairly. After learning that I wasn’t selling, I was told that I was wasting his time and was promptly hung up on. Total jerk.
I called to ask a simple question, the gentlemen was super rude and hung up on me! Would never use them
Very rude and has no knowledge of coins offered me $20 for a West point 2020 PF70 Privy mark eagle anyone who knows about coins knows thats a horrible offer. Highly recommend anyone who wants a real value to not do any business with this guy
I’m pretty sure he paid for any positive reviews. This guy was a joke. I caught him lying about the the price of coins several times, when I called him out he became very angry/aggressive. I even had a Red Book with me, he claimed they were wrong and he is an expert. He the retired to his back room and began to swear at me and tell me to never come back.
If I could give negative stars I would. This guy did not even take time to see if I had anything of value. Simply looked at my bag that generations have been collecting and told me just take it to a bank to cash it in. Extremely rude!! If you can go anywhere else please do.
A few weeks ago spot was around $27, I brought in a few generic rounds, and was offered $20 an ounce. 7 below spot.. Who does that?
I dont agree with the Gentlemen that called the owner or employees terrible, thats an understatement! Lol when I called to ask several questions and asked one about wheat pennies with a indian head on it. He cuts me off and says wheat pennies are 2cents. I said it has an Indian head on it and starts yelling saying its not a wheat penny its an indian head penny those are 50 cents we have hundreds of them. Ive got customers here, I got to go. Hangs up on me. I was about to ask him how much for a 1969 Denver Nickel uncirculated mint condition with all the steps on the back of the coin. This coin sold for $30k in 2016 and I have one. He hung up on me and I didnt get to ask. I dont even want to ask not do business with them. Dont call you will be yelled at by a grumpy old man.
Is the angry man even human?
Very rude and not very professional. Im informing heads ..tossed my prize possessions as if the coins were not valued at that time. Hope he losses value in the silver token
If I could give no stars I would. Just called to ask about a coin I have and dude got rude with me and hung up in my face. Smdh need to learn how to talk to people. Never know who u got on the phone.
The guy working there is rude and sarcastic to customers. Go somewhere else!
The owner of the place might have all knowledge but I was not impressed when I went in for Appraisal for my coin. I had 1821 PROOF CENT PCGS UNC Details. This Gentleman told me, they never minted 1821 PROOF. I tried to show him online, PCGS coinfacts and website, its 15 mintage only ULTRA Rare and sold Auctions. And Coin was graded by PCGS. Still He said nope and showing me Red Book and telling me that it never mentioned in this book and everything on internet is wrong and fake.I was like how the hell this guy run the shop who doesnt even know basic of coins.
As the name states RARE, coins.
I dont know what all the fuss is about. This guy was great. He is a business man, and the name of the place is Rare Coins, not everyday run of the mill coins. My questions got answered with respect and I even got to meet his dog. The selection is great, prices are fair, and the kids will love the treasure chest of coins. He was great, and I will be back again.
Seems like a nice place and great customer service they deserve more popularity
Wow. Super rude. Guy actrd like he hated me drom the second he answered the phone. Needless to say i wont be doing business with my grumpy pants here.
I got a few good silver pieces from there. Pretty good customer service, nice owner and good store. I will come back again when I go to Dallas.
Jim was very informative & helpful explain his shop. I got enjoy spending time going through both American & foreign coins. Prices are amazing. It is so kid friendly digging through coins. Any age would enjoy it. Let’s bring back coin collecting. Thanks, Mr. Shively. It was lovely meeting with you. Please tell the other gentleman, thank you for letting me purchase his $2 bill. This will make a great gift for my dad.
I wasnt sure about trying this place because of some if the bad reviews Ive read but gave it a chance and Im glad I did ! The guy that owned it was super nice, helpful and new what he was talking about. Will definitely come back !
The man called me a liar without even looking at the coin. Im not a mean person but Ill never refer anyone to this place
Guy was extremely rude.. Id never do business with or advise and/or refer anyone to this place..
I came here knowing of the legendary rudeness. But I thought I would give them the benefit of a doubt. And so we went, my kids and I, because my dad gave me some coins for Christmas and I wanted to ask a question. But before I could even get out my question in its entirety, the guy started telling me a bunch of info I wasnt interested in. As I was still talking. When finally I got to the question of spending the money to grade them, he insulted me in front of my kids. Honestly, spending $35 on grading a common-date coin might not be a good idea. But being rude to and insulting a person standing in your store is moronic at best.A simple yes or no would have sufficed. As it turns out, I dont collect coins, but I do buy gold and silver bullion. I was going to spend about $6,000 in there today, and about $18,000 this year. Was. Someone else will get my business.I wouldnt buy from this person if he was last coin dealer in the state. One star is too good for this business.
Called them today the guy who answered the phone was very rude. I would never do business with them ever.
Wow, very fast and professional exchange. Answered a few questions, and gave a very fair price. A little nervous based on reviews, but I got treated wonderfully.
Don’t even deserve 1 star. Called the store to get an appraisal and I was laughed at and hung up on. I do have a real treasure in mint condition. Shame on you
Nice large box of foreign coins, on the right side counter, to search through.Found a few early 1900s British coins in it.
Very nice and helpful. Provided me with tons of information on a coin that my friend and I brought in. Even though what I had was jewelry more so then a rare coin he still took the time to evaluate what I had and gave us good advice on how to sell it.
Prices for purchasing and selling coins from here are more than fair. Even got old bills back as change! My daughter was free to run around and be loud. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
I have always had a good experience buying there. Their coins for sale are regularly cheaper than what one can get on eBay. I have never tried to sell any coins here. It appears that most of the bad reviewers are butt-hurt because their dear old grandpappys coins werent worth as much as they had hoped. Owners can be a bit prickly at times.
Don’t bother even calling to say helloz
Really friendly and knowledgeable people. Pricing also seems very reasonable and my experience in the store was a good one. Will definitely stop by next time Im in Dallas.
I have gone to this store on several occasions to sell coins from my dads estate. The owner is very knowledgeable and fair - he offered me well above what anyone else would pay for silver dollars, eagles, etc. Not only that, but although he does not advertise buying scrap gold & silver he does and pays more than anyone around (I took the same bundle to several different dealers around the area and he offered the most). Some people have said he is not friendly, but everyone has a story and you just need to get to know him (and his dog Knox!) If you are looking for someone to kiss up to you, you can go somewhere else and pay for it, or you can get honest business and a good deal from a regular guy.
SO RUDE!!! This business is arrogant and awful to potential customers. May their nether regions be infested with the fleas of 3000 camels.
Jim is probably the most knowledgable person I know when it comes to coins. He has competitive prices and knows the business. Regarding the negative reviews, it seems they are all coming form people trying to sell their collections. Rule #1, DONT SELL YOUR COIN COLLECTION TO A COIN DEALER! You wont get top dollar selling a car to a dealership, why would you sell coins to a coin dealer. Sell them online or to a buyer you know.
I accidentally reviewed the wrong coin shop so I gave you guys 5 stars because you guys have to be better than Texas rare coins in garland.
You can find some very impressive coins here. I would definitely recommend if you are a serious collector.
A REAL review...small store of very limited resources. Nice clerk offered me 83% of melt value for MS63 Saint Gaudens ($1100 of $1325 melt on 23FEB18). I lost gas money and two hours of my life driving to see them. Ft Worth store was at least AT melt value.
Forget the owners name but he is very knowledgeable and one of the foremost experts in the field in the World.
Jim knows his business..has great prices..wouldnt go nowhere else..customer for life..Thank You Jim..
I brought in over 100 coins from Ancient Rome to civilizations that don’t exist anymore the owner offered me 20$ and never looked at the coins or answered my questions. Waist of time.
I have. A collection. Of. My. Own. I love. That. Coin. Place
I went in there to sell a coin and he was on the phone, I could of waited for him to get off the phone but he wanted to do it the same time. As soon as I showed him my coin he look at me like i was on crack and told me no and turned and kept talking on the phone like I didnt matter. Thing of it was I had a lot more coins to show him but after that I could care less to give him any of my time and if your reading this sir you should talk to your customers with respect and tell them what your interested in and maybe we could of done some business. If he does this to you, you should just walk out and give him the same treatment. Never will come back
Terrible customer service, terrible owners, and terrible employees. Take your money else where. Much better coin places throughout DFW.
Very overpriced coins, I would not recommend this place for new collectorsThe man is nice but prices are way too high
RUDE. I call asking to sell the coins my dying grandfather asked to me sell after he passed and the owner has the most condescending tone. It’s a wonder how they are still in business. When you ask to speak to another employee they deny doing so and hang up on you.
I would give him a negative star. Rude. Snobby man.
I olny give a one cause you have to put one but he deserved 0. rude asshole and very sarcastic i knew my coins worth but he said no one has rare coins but collectors wich my grandmother was.
Love this place to pick up some good priced silver coins. They have a fun grab box for kids to learn about coins.
Went there to purchase silver and see if what I already owned had any value. I was treated as though I was not welcome and ultimately the old man that only brags about how great he is, threatened to fight me if I didnt leave. I left and went to Dallas Gold & Silver Exchange. They treated me very well and I was pleased to spend my money there. This is the second time I have left this review and it has been removed. I have also noticed other negative reviews have been removed as well.
Quite rude...called to see if he knew about a coin I had. When I told him what I had been told as far as worth he says well you were told wrong bye bye and hung up. Ive never had customer service this bad.
I took a long lunch and wandered in the store as I live and work close by. There were two gentleman ?there. I was treated like crap. I asked if they had any graded Nickles. They almost hooted me out of the store saying no one would grade a nickle. Then I purchased a few silver eagles. The jerk just threw them on the glass counter. So much for treating uncirculated coins professionally. I think there is something unseen going on. That location is fairly high dollar .............
Very experienced with coins
Jim is extremely knowledgeable.
Waste of time, couldnt even get some helpful information. No one should go here
Called asking if they had variety quarter. Man made rude and insulting comments about how they are worthless and awful to buy. Told him thats one thing of many in coin world I was interested in so I would shop elsewhere for everything. A simple no we dont have any of those wouldve been fine. Wont trade here.
Go here if you want to be completely ignored by angry, washed up, old people. The folks are seriously lacking in the most basic human interaction skills, let alone any basic comprehension of customer service.
I had a great experience dealing with Reggie. He treated us fairly and seemed to have a wide range of knowledge on the various types of coins we brought in.
Awesome staff always ready to help you find what you need
Cantankerous old buzzard. Is very opinionated for really no knowledge
Very rude, wont let you ask questions before interrupting. Best find somewhere else to do business
Very rude in disrespectful hung up in my face wen I asked how much my 🐃 nickel was worth
This is the rudest and most disrespectful place I have ever dealt with completely ignorant... people told me my coin was worthless and turns out I definitely was being swindled and my coin was worth more than I expected.......
I wanted say no stars the guy on the phone asked me what type of coins i had, once i told him he just hung up. Terrible service.
Terrible customer service very unprofessional would not recommend taking any business to this establishment.
Bad services they didnt even look at my coins dont come waste of time.
Rude called to see if they did appraisals and he said no straight up rude and said he had no time!! I have a 1979 coin with defect told it was worth lots but he is not professional at all wouldn’t waste my time buying anything in this store!!!!!!!!! NEVER
Man, these are peoples valuables that have been in their family for generations and you’re going to stand there and talk to them like that about their stuff? Before my dad even walked in the store behind me with the box of coins you told me I “don’t have anything valuable or rare”. Well I can tell you that if I did end up having anything, you wouldn’t be the one getting them. Not sure how you’re even in business with your S****y attitude. Do everyone a favor and just close.
Went on Saturday, supposed to close at 5... wrong, wrong, wrong... 4 o clock is what the window says. My cancer treatment wont get paid for this month now.
Great experience. Thoroughly explained the value and History of my and his coins.
The gentleman who I interacted with was very rude towards me when I brought in stamps to sell. He told me they only took coins and when I told him that this is where google brought me, he then started yelling at me because it was somehow my fault
I didnt like anything Abt this business. Two of the rudest men I have ever run across. They only wanted my coins for their metal weight. I wont ever go back.
I loved it and I took my grandma and she loved it to
I have had great experiences with Dallas Rare Coins every time I have been in their shop. The transactions are always easy and fast, and on one occation when I thought I had something that might be rare, the person running the store was very polite and took the time to tell me about my Louisiana welfare tax token and I learned alot from him. Needless to say I was a little disappointed that it was not going to make me rich, but such is life. I not only would but have in fact recommended this establishment to one friend already.
Horrible attitude. Pawnshop pricing.
Great selection and wonderful prices!
Unprofessional and rude. Call someone else if you have questions regarding rare coins.
They dont off faith price
Very rude and terrible customer service
Great coin shop!
The customer service is very poor! Called to get info and the jackass hung up on me
Very high quality coins and information
Great deals and good service
There are very nice coins, but the management is so rude that I left. I would rather pay a few dollars more per coin than deal with anyone like him!
The gentleman that answered the phone was short and rude, hung up on me before I had the chance to tell him the complete details of what I had...Total douche bag.
This place is the worst its was 2Pm I called them they said they were open. And I got there 220pm they were closed on a Monday
Great selection.
Came in looking for silver dollars, specifically Morgans, Trades, Libertys. Had about 10 Morgans in the entire shop and no trades or seated libertys. Person behind counter bragged to us about how he does 1 million dollars a year in business selling junk silver. Also openly admitted to cleaning coins.
Smell funny, and they are rude to customers
Garbage an not friendly
I have some coin
Rude
Good
Rude and bad attitudes
The truth is, I am surprised by the istories that the coins teach you
