I went to Van Wells today, specifically looking for a birthday gift for my daughter. It was a bistro set she saw on sale and fell for. I dont tend to think of Van Wells as a gift shop, but I do now. They have a wonderful selection of items for your yard; cute signs for anywhere; decorative pottery and beautiful large decorated tiles for your walls. Plants of all types for decoration indoors and out, furniture for the patio or a small dining area, a variety of fountains to purchase or design for your home or yard....and Im not even inside the store yet! The young lady who assisted me with my purchase was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I thought the price for the wood bistro was a bit high...$124.99 for a three piece set and that being the sale price. But I did not research it so I honestly dont know. It does seem well made and its something that will please my daughter, a wonderful woman and friend. Sold!

Holy smokes, the best kept secret of the county. The garden dept is the best. Nursery stock you wont see any place . And the garden art is the bomb. If you get a chance, stop by. Van Well is my new go to place. Sure it will be your new favorite place too

We’re in the process of building out our van and when we got to plumbing we had no idea what to do. The owner got out of the shop and when to our van and helped us get the parts we needed until we figured it out AND did it again another day when we ran into a little more issues. Now the plumbing looks great and it saved us some money not having to find a plumbing service. We love this place.

Its Great to have such a wonderful building supply but they are a little bit more spendy. I know, they not big box. So overall, I live here. I love it.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable too. The quality of lumber is much better than box stores or discount bargain centers and locally sourced too. They have a wide variety of unusual plants that are well maintained. I can find items no other chain carries at Van Wells. I recommend stopping by to take a look for yourself. I am not an employee nor am I paid for this review.

Found just what I wanted in their garden center at a very sweet price. Also saw all the Annas hummingbirds wintering over in their greenhouse! Very cool.The employees are friendly and helpful and the store is chock full of items you need for painting, electrical, gutters, and all manner of lumber and other building supplies.Its a great store with competitive pricing.I highly recommend it!

Always friendly. And I can buy local. They try to make sure that they have what anyone would need to fix or remodel they house. I buy there when possible instead of driving to Salem. In my experience their prices are competitive.

Great hardware store! Plumbing, electrical, tools, gardening (including plants/flowers/trees), masonry, roofing, not to mention a complete lumber yard with dimensional, sheet goods, fencing, siding,and so much more. Ive been going here for 17 years, and truly enjoy it. The staff will let you wander the aisles and browse uninterrupted, yet are extremely helpful if you have a question. Norman, Lawrence, Bill, Joe, and all the others make a great team.The ONLY reason I rank it 4 out of 5 stars, rather than the full five, is that they are NOT open on Sundays. I understand the reason, but this point alone has caused me to drive 50 miles out of my way to their competition in order to complete a weekend project, and to be the best hardware store you must be available to your customers every day of the week.

I walked in there to get some boards cut. A very simple request! The man at the front counter was more than PUT OUT to help out, in sure bothered by the fact I came in about 25 min to closing (cant help the hours conflict with my work schedule/shouldnt matter what time I choose to walk in) With two kids in hand looking for some assistance and left feeling like the biggest inconvenience. I reported the issues with the manager,only to hang up with doubt that he cared much or would take care of me as a customer. I will from now on take my business elsewhere and would never recommend vanwell. If your looking for good customer service my advise is take your business elsewhere.

Personable place to shop and find all those needs for a home, workspace or new Boutique in town. I was treated as a guest and already as I walk in I am greeted by my 1st name. Thank you for your great customer service!

Wow, super disappointing customer service. Of all the employees there, one or two actually answer questions and help customers. The others mill about and act annoyed when you ask basic questions, like the prices of their mostly unmarked merchandise. Would love to support local business, even pay a little more, but wont be doing it at VanWell any longer. Save time, money and the hassle and head elsewhere...

Entered the store and was greeted by a smiling clerk. Gave me directions to my items and like all hardware stores it was as far away as possible. Que sera! I headed for the area and another emp asked what I needed he walked me there and happily carried my fence posts all the way back to my car. Very good service. Nice selection.

I bought 40 cedar fence boards the other day to finish a project. The staff loaded them into my vehicle and I headed home. 32 of the 40 boards were rotten enough that I could put my finger through the board. Apparently they dont care about the quality of what they load for you. From now on I will go to Home Depot. At least I can pick what lumber I want to buy there and only have myself to blame if it is bad when I get home.

I worked at a different ace hardware for a year and a half and they are ok at following the protocols for employees but they are really friendly and helpful. They dont have a huge selection, but it is pretty good overall.

Everytime I go there the staff is very nice. The place is kept clean and I am always able to find what I need.

I have been buying from these folks for years. The change of owners has not changed things that I see.

Hmmm, I find the glowing reviews troubling only because in the multiple trips I have made here in the last year, not once did I feel welcome or as if the staff felt like assisting customers was a part of their job. AND, the ACE Hardware sign is misleading because I was told (quite pointedly) We do not honor the ACE card or coupons...we ARE NOT an ACE store! So there you go folks.

Well I guess Im just an outcast when I go in here then Im never greated or treated nicely. seems every time I ask someone for help they sigh or roll there eyes to help me. then today after using my company card there many many times I get carded and then treats me like a criminal asking me questions after questions because it has my wifes name then the company name and he made me out that I stole the card and used it for a 5 dollar item really dude?!? so so much for buying local and helping local companys I hate to do it but after that experience I will just wait till I need alot of stuff and make the trip to Salem from now on I never get treated that poorly anywhere else!!
