Theyve stepped up their game in the last two years! They keep the store clean and well stocked. Fresh produce! Nice customer service. Delicious ready to eat hot and cold food. A little bit pricey but not excessive.

I frequent this store almost everyday for over a year now. The hot food is addicting. Great tasting soul food, I eat it multiple times per week. The staff is very friendly, and the service is nice and quick as well.

This is our local store. It holds a lot of life history for me as I remember going there as a child when it was first built. I appreciate the current owners efforts to keep it a strong quality piece of our community.

The place is clean and the help is friendly. They have a wonderful counter with hot foods that you can make a dinner or buying quantities take home. Be aware everything here is rather pricey. I do recommend this place

They have a tiny restuarant inside the store, that services decent meals. They also have decent quality foods.

I actually really like this supermarket. Is it fancy? No. However, it has a great variety of products considering it not a part of a major chain of stores. Its well stocked and has very fair prices. The people who work here give it a neighborhood vibe as well, often giving good advice. I am glad that this is now become my neighborhood supermarket.

On, Friday July 17, 2021 I went to Lafayette Foods and against my better consciousness to purchase a few items just to get me through until I could go to a big box store; such as, Meijer or Kroger in the burbs. We dont yet have a big/major grocery store in the downtown area. I bought some chicken, and a few additional items. That was Friday as stated above. I cooked the chicken the next day Saturday. Around 6pm I made what I thought would be a delightful meal; of, baked chicken rice mushrooms and steamed kale. Well, after the third bite I began feeling dizzy, sick to my stomach. By, 7pm I was in such pain that I had never felt before; around 10pm, I was jolted out of bed by intense pain and the sudden urge to throw up! From that moment, until 5am I was the sickest I had been in my life! I had food poisoning from the chicken! Mind you, I had to ask the manager to please get me some fresh ground beef; because, all the beef in the display was Grey! That should have been my warning to not buy Any food! (That was me not following my inner voice). Well, I was so sick for 4 days; that, I thought I would throw up an organ!. So, today (Tuesday, 7.27.21) I was finally able to return the remainder of the food I purchased and express my displeasure to the manager (Steve). He was condescending, didnt care that he could have killed me; with, his toxic spoiled food. He only gave me a partial refund; because, I didnt have the package for the chicken (I only cooked half, froze the rest and threw the wrapper away). This is absurd and beyond egregious! Our neighborhood food markets need to be more diligent in their process of food service and how they own up to and in a more humble manner; when dealing with complaints of their short falls. Congruently, I will never spend a dime on a stamp in that store or the other neighborhood food stores again, period. P.S. when I told another proprietor in my area what happen he stated, Dont buy meat or fish from Lafayette foods. So, that told me that the market has a bad reputation and I was unaware and perhaps because no one posted about their horrific experience.

Lots! Of variety from wine to foods. The prepared food is delicious! Fish, croquettes, desserts, side dishes. Produce and meat selection decent. A little pricey. I was wondering if theyre under new management. Lottery and pharmacy inside. Very clean and convenient location, which is up and coming (new development all around)... which probably explains the prices. This had been listed as black owned and operated... while it is operated by blacks it is not owned by blacks. Staff is very pleasant.

Clean. Nice variety of delicacy products only your grandma uses. Some of their prices are out of this galaxy. But if you know where to remedy that everything works out well. When you go there take a few extra minutes with you because you will look around.

In between. Convenient, wide selection of foods and nice people working here. It is in between a full grocery store and a convenience shop. Much more than a 7-11 but not as much as a Meijer. Surprisingly, their fresh produce and butcher counter is awesome. A very convenient place if you live nearby and a pretty decent assortment of beers too.

Maybe I visited on the wrong day, stock was pretty low and they wanted too much for withered flowers.... Other than that they were clean and very helpful.

Good hot food in the deli. B- grade produce. Kind of pricey but I imagine they think because people pay so much for the surrounding housing, they can afford it.

I love Lafayette Foods. I’ve been living in the area for almost 9 years and I love this place. It’s never dirty and the owners and their family are sooooooooooooo wonderful. The always have everything I need. The selection is changing because the area is changing but I appreciate it. So many brands and different foods from around the world now. Just wonderful. And they have hot food if you’re hungry and don’t feel like cooking. I wish I could give them 10 stars lol.

One of the best stocked grocery stores in Detriot. I checked three other markets before finding everything I needed here.

They have a unique selection of some things I havent seen in the city, but Im sorry, I wont be coming back. I expect to be taxed in the suburbs, but I dont like being in the city and feeling ripped off. I paid way too much for the couple things I bought. (If youre wondering, no I dont go shopping in the burbs over the city. I prefer to spend money in my city and neighborhood- this is why Im disappointed).

This is my favorite spot, they work really hard to keep this store clean and very neat, and theyre always smiling and speaking to everyone coming in.

Lafayette foods is a pretty good place to shop. It’s extremely convenient as I just can just walk a couple blocks from my residence to it.The staff is very nice, overall the store is quite clean, and they are stocking more and more different items of various types per customers demands, which is a very good idea. I don’t do all of my shopping there, sometimes I find some of the meat to be a little bit old but I try to shop there as much as I can. Keep up the good work Lafayette foods.

The store is walking distance from me. I shop here every day if not every other day, so they treat me like family. I love the staff. The food from the deli is delicious! Its always clean and well stocked. The manager Lance keeps my favorite wine in stock, and any issue, request, or suggestion I may have, they are ON IT! I love businesses that actually care about servicing customers!👌

Its pretty good you know that they have a lot of senior citizens in the area so they cant really season the food too much but will just salt and pepper is fine

They changed the hot food selections now with some meats you dont get the dinner option. I went for the rib dinner or the short rib dinner but was told theyre no longer a dinner option and theyre 9.99 a pound. I went just for the rib dinner.

Fresh Food and good customer service

Fair prices, I purchase everything except the meat department. They always push meats that are 1-3 days of expiring. So if you purchase meats there you better cook it immediately! Dont even try to freeze it! Except for the meat, everything else is A-okay!

I have been coming to this wonderful grocery store for the last five years. This particular grocery is my one stop shop, it has everything a consumer could ever want all wrap in one. The staff there is the nicest staff i have ever come in contact with. Also this grocery store has many additions including an pharmacy with great ethics and great consumer services. Last but not least, there Deli has the best food in the area and there catfish dinner are the best in the city. In conclusion, when you come to Lafayette foods they treat you like family.
