Needed some minor body repair done. Everyone there was extremely friendly and helpful. The estimate that they provided was nearly spot on to what it ended up costing. They kept us informed throughout the process and worked well with the insurance company. When the car was done, it looked like it did before the accident (maybe even better!). He thoroughly looked over the car when I brought it in. A staff member thoroughly went over the repairs when we picked up the car, including giving instructions for washing the car since they had to paint the repaired area. The process was really easy. Shaffer took care of everything and the fixed our car very well and in record time. The only thing tho is the guy at the reception. He wasn’t very friendly but maybe it was because it was snowing outside pretty bad and the mood wasn’t right. But besides that great experience.

Had a problem with broken back door handle on our SUV. It was totally stuck and as a result inside light was permanently on and draining battery. Took car to dealer who basically didnt even try to open trunk and said they would drill a permanent hole thru door to get it open and replace broken handle. It was suggested by a friend to take SUV to Schaefer Autobody as she was impressed with this companys work. Took Schaefer Autobody 15 minutes to get door open. They ordered new door handle and once received, it took them 10 minutes to install on my door. ( And of course no permanent drilled hole in my door as suggested by dealer). Really appreciated how Schaefer immediately tried to help and was very impressed with their work.

Took our car in a few weeks back and dealt with Chris, who was excellent! They set great expectations about the estimate and the timeline, and the fact that there may be hidden damage behind the front bumper cover. There was more, but again, expectations were set in advance, which was appreciated. The work was done on time, and more importantly, extremely well! Chris told us if anything was wrong, they would do whatever it took to make things right. Viewing the workmanship of the repair, everything looked great. However, the minute we got home, we found a nail in the tire, which clearly came from their lot. There were absolutely no issues getting that fixed and taken care of! The true test of a company making claims of making things right is when something DOES go wrong and they are quick to take care of it! This company proved to us that they stand behind their promises and their work! Theyve won our business for life!

I had to have Two repairs within two months.Nice people but I had to bring the car back a couple of times for parts and adjustments. It took a bit longer than expected as well. The windshield trim fell off when I pulled out of their parking lot and the bumper repair Failed Slightly as they had to have some clips or brackets replaced.The second repair went well so far (it’s only been a few days).

Great work on my car for insurance claim, they worked to make location for drop more convenient. I did request quote to do a best effort for the money for three other blemishes. The quotes came back obviously not what I could afford. Tried several times to explain, had to request several times and eventually the quote was not what the adjuster at Schaefer said was possible.

I had seen some not so good review on this location, but they repaired my Honda Pilot after we were rear ended. Did a great job, and they kept in communication. Not sure what else you can want here...I recommend.

Car STILL not fixed after 3+ months of waiting, and 2 weeks in the shop... PLUS a new brake problem to fix!My wifes car was rear-ended in January, and pushed into the car in front of her at a low speed. Its an older car (1994), but still in very good condition. There wasnt a ton of damage, just dents in both bumpers. State Farm was the at-fault partys insurance company, so some of this falls on them, but Schaefer was complicit.Quick timeline of events...- Late January: Wreck. State Farm arranges for the car to be fixed at Schaefer, but wont be able to get it in until March due to body shop availability and needing parts.- Early March: Schaefer calls to reschedule, still waiting on parts.- Late March: Dropped off at Schaefer, picked up rental car.- 2 days later: Unbeknownst to us, Schaefer decides that the car is totaled ($88 difference between cost to fix and value of car!). State Farm turns car over to total loss department. Neither party calls to inform us.- 10 days later: We call Schaefer and State Farm to ask whats going on, and are informed the car is totaled. We can either take a check to release the car, or take a larger check and let State Farm have it (not an option for us).- A few days later, we pick up the car, and suddenly the brakes sound like a helicopter landing when applied. There was absolutely no problem with the brakes for the 2+ months my wife drove the car after the wreck, prior to leaving it at Schaefer.So now were left with a still-wrecked car and a $3000 check. Thanks to Schaefers decision to total it (after making us wait an extra 2 weeks to get parts) we have no way to get a rental car while we get it fixed. And then theres the additional $450+ we had to pay to get the brakes fixed!Avoid this place like the plague, especially if State Farm tries to send you there. Thanks for nothing, Schaefer!

From first estimate to completion of work, Schaefer made the process a seamless one. Our car presented as brand new when ready for pickup a day earlier than promised.

When it comes to anything car related, Im paranoid. There are simply too many ways to get screwed over and you almost have to be a little bit of ajerk to make sure you dont get taken advantage of.Didnt once feel like I had to do that with these guys. They answered every little question with patience and they earned my trust. When I had a frantic question about the timeline they answered me quickly and articulately.The work is beautiful, and I even got my car back three days early. Ill call that a win. Definitely coming back here if I ever (god-forbid) need to again.

I had a scratch on my car door and told them I had a $250 deductible. They called me back the next day and told me they buffed out the scratch and there was no charge. I could not believe they were that nice. I am always going back to them.

Schaefer Autobody in Ellisville........FRAUD and more FRAUD. They said they needed my car for two weeks, then suddenly needed it an extra week, with no communication. I had to call them to find that out. When looking over my car after supposed work was done, I found numerous scratches and scuffs that Schaefer claims were there before they started work. This is a brand new car. The paperwork from my insurance estimate indicated that ALL work would be completed. The Schaefer paperwork given to me when I picked up my car indicated that many parts had been replaced, when in fact, they werent (roof, doors, fenders). The items that were to be replaced (according to insurance adjustment) were not replaced, only repaired, but Schaefer did not make any monetary adjustments for doing that. Final paperwork indicated a $5,000 miscellaneous item.....very interesting. When questioned about whether they replaced or repaired items, Schaefer became very defensive and never did answer the question. Behind your back, they notate prior damage to car but never get your approval or signature. Their notes of prior damage are on the supposedly replaced doors, etc. This shop lacks work ethics, communication with its customers, and quality work. BTW, this is the same company that has been caught loaning out the cars (they are supposed to be working on) to other customers. They should be shut down!

They are unreliable, Deceptive practices and breach of Customer trust and disloyal. Basically untrustworthy. There are plenty of body shops in STL. Dave Munganest is better. I had a better experience several times. Once Schaffer, almost guarantee you will never go back !
