I love this place. The location and layout of the coffee shop is great you can be comfy inside looking at the outside green terrace or outside. Their croissants are really good.
Seriously awesome atmosphere. Lovely way to spend a morning. Got a latte and a chocolate croissant. Both were delicious and I will be back!
Cute little cafe. I love getting brunch and drinks here. Their Croissant sandwiches and avocado toasts are very yummy. My favorite drink is cold Matcha Americano. No pesky milk to smoothen the flavor of the matcha (matcha with water); its best for the purist at heart. I also really like Matcha Gibraltar. Theres less milk than latte and uses cooler temperature of the steamed milk to dilute the flavor of matcha.Alfajores are very good if you want something sweet. I also love their gelato pints, but if you are planning on walking around, then you can hop over to Dolcezza across the street to get gelato (more selections available - same company).Great place to work and to hangout with friends. Outdoor seatings are available as well :)
Mom & Pop is a great addiction to the Mosaic District in terms of its location (which is gorgeous) and its convenience. The coffee is good, although I would not call it above better than any coffee shops in the area. The service itself is decent, and the wait time is above average. However, still a staple of a coffee shop and Mosaic would feel empty without it!
Just had a coffee on the patio. A perfect place for a cool, waning summer morning / waxing fall day.Lotsa doggies, which is wonderful to see.Great staff: enthusiastic and happy - very welcoming.WiFi worked great. Got some work done in a nice, semi-urban settingNo restrooms - gotta leave your seat and go to a nearby business (like Target).Had to pack up for a quick run to the loo but would have stayed longer had a facility been onsite.
Stopped in here before a long night for some caffeine and was pleasantly surprised. The baristas were very kind and helpful- even provided an extra cup when we mentioned splitting a drink. The latte we got was good- much better than a Starbucks drink. Downside- the price $$$
For breakfast I had the biscuit with butter and jam - delicious! For midday I had the basil lemonade - AMAZING!I will say if you go VERY first thing in the morning... sometimes their baked goods hadnt delivered yet. Good sign that theyre very fresh! But if youre there too early you may miss outHighly recommend.
Usually have a good experience but today was different. So this morning I placed an online order for pickup, and once they texted me it was ready the moment I arrived it wasn’t. I had to wait 15 more minutes. The order is supposed to be ready with no wait time upon arrival. There’s no customers in the store they’ll make you wait. I don’t understand how when there’s a huge line of customers they’ll make you wait the same amount of time. 😕
Love this place! They make the best Mocha Latte! But they need to stop preparing bacon in the nights because the smell stinks now. The place used to smell great, but after they recently started to prepare bacon, the place’s smell smells terrible.
Had really high hopes for ordering pick up here but was let down by the customer service. We had placed an order for pick up and were also picking up a friends order that had been put in 2 hrs prior. Neither were ready by the time I showed up for the order and still ended up waiting 20min to only get half our orders. The staff was kind and apologized, but made no effort to compensate for the lack of meeting the order. I am sad to say I have no intentions of coming back. The coffee (which was the only half of the order we got) was fantastic, but plenty of other places nearby to get a similar product. Please make an effort to improve on process quality especially with pick up orders.
Other than the name there isn’t anything mom-and-pop about this spot. Mom-and-pop shops are single location businesses having mom and pop on the premises operating the daily business. Though the space is small it is in the heart of high traffic, upscale, Mosaic District. It appears to me Mom & Pop has an excellent gross sales per square foot ratio. Good for them (owners).I have passed by and passed up trying their product until late last week checking it out of curiosity. I was not particularly impressed by their coffee. The croissant I ordered to go with the coffee was, in my opinion and to my taste, outstanding. It was fresh, flaky and buttery. All goods and services in the DMV are pricy which is largely driven by real estate values. That component of overhead factored into pricing hits you in the receipt. Though I think Mom & Pop is over the top in that department. It is fair, I believe, to compare M&P with nearby Le Pain Quotidien, located in the same real estate cost zone, a short walk from M&P and also serving similar fare in the same quality ballpark. The price comparison for my identical order at LPQ is 24% less.I particularly like the Mies van der Rohe/Bauhaus architecture of this small shop.
Came in for a decaf coffee. Took 9 minutes to get it, but it was the BOMB! Staff are friendly and courteous.
Normally so-so and very overpriced, today after a next in line 5 minute delay the girl at the register asked me if a 20 minute wait would be ok? She seemed shocked when I said no. The place never the model of cleanliness looked like a tornado hit it. Happily went elsewhere
The Dolcezza coffee at this cafe is very good. Ive had the latte several times and its been refreshing. On nice days, they do get very busy and sometimes the coffee is not as hot as you expect. I usually ask for extra hot and it was still warm because they are rushing. The staff is nice and theyll make it again for you. Considering their location, a large coffee can get expensive and be close to $8 with alternative milk and syrup. Try it out the next time you are in mosaic district.
Highly recommend. Loved my avocado toast and coffee. Great table for 2 outside. No recycling trash can there, but there is across the street. Friendly, prompt service.
Amaze coffee & lovely seats outside to sit down & enjoy it
Large coffee selection with several pastries to pick from and they carry Dolcezza gelato, including some grab and go options. Staff is friendly and fast in working through orders. The popsicle ice cream they have seems great for kids.
Got the hot coffee from there with oat milk and it straight up tasted like seawater… they don’t brew their coffee correctly. Starbucks is better with that price point
Overall, I do like the food and would highly recommend the avocado toast. However, out of the several times I’ve ordered there, there have been multiple issues encountered. They were mainly minor, but definitely built up. 1. The online ordering site has worked on and off with the payment option. 2. (This one only occurred maybe two times) the staff was pretty unfriendly and didn’t acknowledge us waiting at the register for about 5 minutes even though it was only semi busy. 3. There have been multiple times where what we’ve ordered has come different. For example, in our latest order, we removed tomatoes and added eggs for an extra dollar. Not only did they not put the eggs and forgot to remove the tomatoes, the sandwich was poorly made and smaller than all the times we’ve ordered before. We didn’t even bother going back since we’d already left and the wait time is insane there. This is unfortunate since the company itself has a great selection of foods.
Not only do they make amazing coffee and food, but they’re also the sweetest people ever! they accidentally forgot to put my croissants in a to go order, so when i came back to ask for them, they gave me two free alfajores! thanks, Mom & Pop team💛
6$ for coffee at a “Mom & Pop” store? LMAO. I have been a local guide for years and I have never seen a store gentrify the sanctity of the phrase “mom and pop” — those struggling shops killed by the big box stores. Just a bunch of teens working there. Corporate aesthetic masquerading as a small business.
Coffee is okay, but seating is ample and ambiance is unique!
I had an online pickup order, waited over 10 minutes and was ignored. Tried to get help from the cashier, but was told to wait at the pickup location. Not even a hello, hi, or how can I help you was I offered from anyone eventhough I was standing there waiting trying to catch someones attention. I get that the store was busy and one person was making all the drinks, but at one point several customers walked in and he waited for them to finish their order while wiping down equipment, so he could begin their order. 7 walk in customers got their drinks before me, and at that point it wasnt worth it. Online orders are supposed to be easy to pick up, otherwise I could just do walk in instead. It was one drink and worth $5, but my time was more important as I had somewhere else to be, so I just left. Would have loved to cancel the order.
Forget about the good reviews below. Clueless people.Other than decent coffee, which is inconsistent by the way, everything else is WELL BELOW PAR.1. Service is very bad. Very few smiles from the employees and indifference displayed to customers. Basically a yes or no answers, but frequently dismissed.2. Employees are constantly gossiping with other employees. One time I noticed someone who came into the store (clearly an employee who was visiting off hours as she walked to the back), and she was the LOUDEST person in the store, talking and screaming like a 5 year old, hugging and high-fiving with working employees, while there was a huge line.3. Employees need more training. I saw an employee breakup a large bag of ice on the counter, startling everyone in the store.4. Music is way too loud, and they hesitated in lowering the volume. And the pastries are left in the open (while flies are hovering), and they keep boxes of cups in the front next to seating areas.Simply a mess in terms of operation.
It is one of the great coffee shops with outstanding views. The good thing is they have indoor and outdoor seats in which some people would enjoy the Spring when taking their coffee break. However, it somehow centered in a traffic street. People may conceder, planning ahead of their visit. Nevertheless, their cold coffee drinks are unusual, as they are one of the best I ever tasted.
We went to Virginia and we entered here for coffee this the rude place and disrespectful people here and the price is so high 2 small coffee and croosand 17$ dollar even that was so old. The customer service is worries and disrespectful. We never go the next time of my life.
Great coffee and very nice place .
One of the best place for breakfast and lunch. Great coffee and delicious deserts. I always get me morning coffee from here.
It was my first time here. I got an iced flavored coffee which wasnt as good as I had hoped.
Hands down, best almond milk matcha latte I’ve had in all of VA.
This place is small, but the food is packed with flavor. I’m a huge fan of the breakfast croissant and the coffee is so smooth and refreshing 👍🏽 my wife put me on, but I’ve been the one to make an excuse to have breakfast here every chance I get! With many restaurants packed into the Mosaic, this one is placed neatly in the middle and adds to the diverse richness that is the Mosaic District.
Im officially a convert to Mom & Pop for coffee! They make a mocha that rivals any other coffee shop Ive tried. Rich flavor and smooth texture make for a happy customer. Perhaps my only critique is that the drinks do require patience, especially when visiting on weekends. They get quite busy.
I got a parfait and an iced chai. It was delicious and it was beautiful weather and nice to catch up with a friend.
Quality coffee in a great atmosphere. The surrounding area is beautiful.
Perfect spot to take a break or catch up with friends. Fast, convenient, delicious.
Amazing coffee... their dulce de leche is really nice...
Best Coffee in NOVA for me, try their dulce Leche or Vanilla Bean Latte...
I went with my brother, father, and grandmother, after a dissatisfying trip to DC, because the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception only had its crypt church and gift shop open. The BLT was so delicious and had a rich taste!!! The hot chocolate tasted authentic and was so good!!! I ate outside! This was a nice place to cheer me up after a bad trip in DC. The service was slow, but it was worth it!! The food was made slowly with love!
Decaf took 15 mins to order and another 15 mins to receive. Slowest place ever.
This is a great spot for breakfast on the go, if youre in the area. Ordering online is easy and they get your food and drinks ready pretty quickly. It can take longer when its super busy. Ive had their coffee, iced tea and croissant sandwich - all of which are delicious. The breakfast sandwich is soooo yummy! I do wish they had more coffee options, as in more types of beans to choose from. Also, a $1 uncharge for almond milk is a little ridiculous.Stroller Status: This spot is basically a fancy food shack - there isnt a lot of room inside. Leave the stroller and kids outside, grab your order and find a spot to sit someplace else in Mosaic.
Weak flavorless coffee of the day. And it was fresh brewed. I three it out and walked to Starbucks across the street
One of the best places for coffee. Absolutely loved the menu they have for different types of coffee. My personal favorite is Cafe Au Lait and they also have coffee of the day which is pretty good too.
The coffee was decent not the best in the area but if u are shopping in the area its not a bad option, if u want a machiacto then go somewhere else unless u just want a shot cause they only serve the classic machiacto, I got the dolce leche latte, it tasted good a lil watery not a strong coffee flavor, but overall not bad and worth the $4 50
The coffee tasted sour, and weak. It was highly overpriced. What really irritated me the most, is that being vaccinated didnt mean anything. They want you to wear a mask when ordering, but nobody sitting down had one on. Obviously, they do not follow science. Unicorns and pride month is their highest concern. Will never be back to the Marxist establishment.
It would be a great place to drink a cup of coffee only when theyre not too busy. If someone doesnt want to get in line for 20 minutes to grab a drink, consider other coffee shops. Around 10 am on Sunday, I should spend more than 20 minutes to get my coffee. Also, I dont like to pay extra $1 when I want soy milk for my drink.
Wont go here when Im short on time
Absolutely delicious cappuccino.
They were 20 minutes late on the pickup time for two coffees and a breakfast sandwich and there was uncleaned puke outside on the patio. Otherwise it was great
Took 25mins from when I ordered to get a latte.
Great coffee, great food. I need to try the Blood Orange sorbet.
One of the most delicious coffee, unfortunately because of corona we cannot sit inside, there are only an outside tables.
Very cute glassed-in building. Delicious coffee beverages and limited baked goods and breakfast sandwich. Outdoor seating at establishment and around Strawberry Park. Health protocols in place.
Leches Dulce is wonderful...not sure if I spelled it right 😎. Almond croissants are usually gone very early in the day. Thats how good they are.
Place wasn’t the cleanest and coffee wasn’t great.
Just ordered a coffee, told it would be a 15-20 minute wait… for a coffee
I got a croissant breakfast sandwich just now, it food poisoned me & I vomited the whole thing right on pick-up curb. I told them about it, they didn’t even bother to clean the vomit or remove the current food they were using for the sandwiches. They Didn’t offer a apology or napkin or ginger ale or anything. They just kept making their vomit croissants. DO NOT EAT HERE!! It’s VOMIT LAND
The vanilla latte is amazing, the biscuit was good but sadly burnt on one side of the bottom :(
The croissant sandwiches literally blew my mind. So worth every penny. Absolutely delicious
Friendly staff, quality coffee, fairly pricey. Ample outdoor seating.
The pastries ! 👍 Nice collection of Fresh Croissants 👌
A nice little coffee shop. The Gibraltar is good, but smaller than most people are used to, as are most of their espresso drinks. Currently, they are doing takeout only.
It is a cute coffee shop located at the center of mosaic district. In pre covid times it was a lively place. In covid times, you can order for a take out or delivery and you still get limited yet nice options.
Fantastic cappuccino, wonderful spot for a coffee break.
Mom & Pop is conveniently located in the Mosaic District on Mosaic District Avenue. At your convenience, coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and snacks are available. Oh, and they have a freezer full of small batch gelato pints that are worth checking out! Very good coffee!! AMERICANO is the only drink I ever have!! Yummy! When I have the chance, I go to a location directly across the street from my workplace. The customer service is decent. Normally, the location is extremely crowded. Fantastic pastries in a nice variety. For breakfast, there are some nice bakery options. They open very early, before 10:00 a.m., compared to the other outlets in the area. It comes with a recommendation.
One of the tastiest biscuits and jam served here.
Slow preparation, but good
Expensive, but cute and arguably some of the best hot chocolate Ive had in several years. I love that they are right on an outdoor swath thats lit perfectly for covid time walks outsixr with friends or dates.
Best coffee I’ve had in the Northern VA. Always consistent and tastes great.
This coffee shop is consistently very good and very busy because the shop delivers quality food and drink. It’s worth the wait in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The only factor that is inconsistently delivered is service. The morning weekday shift is always outstanding. The evening and weekend shifts are not as good: staff is sometimes not doing anything and not attentive to customers. For example, today, the cashier interrupted me twice to assist another staff member who didn’t know what they were doing and was too shy to yell out an order was ready. Then after I ordered my drinks she asked me if I wanted to add a milk substitute. I don’t interpret this as good service, I interpret it as the shop trying to get an extra buck from me (who is already paying). I think it’s a slimy tactic disguised as an attempt to seem interested in catering to dietary needs. If I have a dietary need I can read the menu and ask accordingly.
Very nice people, nice outdoor seating area.
