I have been meaning to do this review for a couple of days now. Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this place, the doctor / owner is absolutely amazing. I came in for contacts and he was with me for maybe an hour getting my exact measurements.I had Lasik done over 10 years ago, and my eyes has slowly deteriorated over the years to now I need to wear glasses and or contacts. Because of that its very hard for me to get contacts that fit because of the LASIK. The owner made sure I got the perfect fit for my contacts unlike other doctors I have tried in the past. Which I really appreciate, his attention to detail is second to none. He made sure I left his store satisfied.Now let me talk about Amy, Amy was absolutely AMAZING! Very knowledgeable, very Pleasant and had a good eye for what glasses looks good on my face. She took care of me it made sure all my questions were answered when it came to billing, and general eye info.I left visual health with a pair of Tom Ford glasses and a 3 month supply of contacts. I did not expect to spend that much, but I am happy with my decision.As long as I am in the DMV area visual health is where I will go always.

Their website is broken so that you can schedule an appointment but the store never receives it, leaving you out in the cold. I came to this location thinking I had an appointment, having took hours off work to drive 10 miles one way, and was turned away. I was told to call next time I need an appointment. If your website is this broken, it needs to be turned off instead of causing all these problems. I wont be coming back, this location is the closest to home that takes my insurance and its too far to risk another snafu.Incidentally, this was my second appointment with visual health. I was turned away at my first appointment at the falls church location because, unbeknownst to me, they didnt accept my insurance, not that the website ever tells you even after collecting your insurance details.

I bought my glasses here last year, when I had coverage with Fairfax County. One of the pins came out so I went back to get a new pin; so I could wear my glasses. I asked the gentleman behind the counter(black hair with glasses)to fix my glasses. He told me that because I ordered them through my previous plan, that they did not have the proper screws to fix my glasses. Something about they, were special ordered. He told me Fairfax County was using a different company. Maybe, I could contact them. I went to pearl vision (who I had not purchased the glasses from). The gentleman behind the counter took the time to find a screw, and cut it to fix my glasses. No charge, just a smile. I know where I will be going from now on!

Just called them to transfer my information to my new doctor (who theyve been ignoring for weeks) and the person on the other end seemed like they had no idea how to answer a phone or help a customer out. Very happy to not be going back here anymore!

Nice new store! Ive always loved there frame selections even when I used to go to their old location but I think their new store makes it look even better. The new spot is literally across the parking lot but when I went in I felt like I was at some fancy boutique. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that they gave me the same deal as last year but I got to choose from even nicer brands. I definitely recommend this store because its a perfect happy medium from the overpriced snobby stores and the garbage its too good to be true cheap places that are flooding the area.congrats on the new office guys!!see you next year,Regi

I hate writing poor reviews, but this office is totally disorganized. Their “online booking system isn’t syncing” so although you make an appointment on their website, they don’t have it in their system and you won’t be seen. I moved around other responsibilities for a visit here, just to have my time wasted and be turned away.

Called Visual Health Doctors of Optometry, Fairfax location. Spoke to a woman about seeing if my insurgence covers contacts and an eye exam. Right from the get go I can feel her down beat energy through the phone. I could tell in her voice that she just didn’t want to help me.She put me on hold and told me the deal with the eye exam and contact and said thanks then I asked about her question and she basically said If I’m not going to schedule an appointment then she’s too busy to talk to me on the phone becuase she has work to do. I told her I cannot schedule an appointment until she answers some questions and just like that she hangs up the phone.The type of unprofessionalism that I experienced though the phone with the worker would make me believe that I’m speaking to a new worker who lacks experience in communication and hospitality.I’ve been going to this location for visual health as a customer for 10+ years, but this experience has lead me to never want to come back.If I could give 0 stars I would.

I dont recommend this place for anyone. I took my mother for an eye exam the person who took her photos didnt know how to instruct a patient. The doctor who was examining my mother left the room leaving the eye examination machine attached to my mothers face. She seemed to be forced to see patients. In the middle of her conversation she left the room and asked us to make a new appointment.

I have been going here for three years and would like to say that they are a very reliable and supportive opticians. I feel like the opthamologist does a thorough job and they are always happy to mend my glasses for free. Overall I would highly recommend them:)

Awesome experience, got two new frames and had my lenses updated. Had a friendly young man take care of me, I believe his name was Maher. He had a lot of patience with me since I asked about 300 questions! Left happy and would like Maher to take of mine and my family’s eyes every time!

I love this office so much that I drive from Richmond to remain a customer. Staff always polite, never a wait, open on Saturday and Doc always helpful and knowledgeable. Theyre happy to match prices and meet your needs.

The doctor here is very informative and great to work with, I felted like he actually cared. The rest of the Staff did not give or leave me with the same impression.Last week I took my broken glasses in that I thought where under warranty and got turned away as only my lenses are covered... read the fine print. The staff was helpful in getting me my prescription quickly as I went else where to purchase new frames and lenses.

My family and I have been going to see Dr. Chhitwal for about 10 years. We always get great care, the appointments are easy to get and all of the staff is helpful and very nice.

Wonderful experience. Doctor was wonderful and understanding. He made sure I was happy with my prescription and eye health plan. The staff was very helpful. They explained my benefits and helped me get a better deal on my contacts.

Ive been coming to this practice for years. The doctor really listens and takes his time to answer any questions or concerns I have. Theyve made some changes with a new office and new staff and its fantastic. I had great help picking out a new pair of frames that I love! The staff was friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome. Sometimes you wait 15-20 minutes for an appointment, but this happens in a lot of doctors offices.

Doctor wasnt bad and Im comfortable with the prescription that I ended up with, though I practically had to convince him to try different contact brands based on how they were fitting. My real problem with this place is that on two separate occasions they simply refused to respond to requests for my prescription. They in fact told the requester that I had never been a patient. I had to call and get these copies and then send them on.

Got two pairs of my glasses and contacts from here and was helped by one of the staff named Maher (my apologies if name is spelt wrong) who provided top notch service and was very knowledgeable on the eye glass stuff. Will definitely come back again!

Good experience with my exam and glasses fitting. Staff and doctor were courteous and helpful. While I opted for designer frames, they were not pushed on me the way some shops might do. That said, I had to follow up twice in two weeks before my contact lenses were shipped to me. Only after my second follow up did they finally send my order. They expedited the shipment, which was appropriate and appreciated. However, Id have greatly preferred no delay.

Had an issue with my Rx, after initially telling me that they cannot help, I had to argue with the staff and they eventually sorted out the issue -

I am just recommending that you should not go in the store because they do not have good customer service and lie. They say on the phone one thing, but when you go there, they charge a different price. The people who work there give wrong information and I do not trust them.

Made an appointment online but apparently they didn’t get it so wasted time driving there.

Regardless of whether you have an appointment or walk in, you should expect to sit in the lobby for a half hour MINIMUM before being seen by the doctor. Additionally, if you have any complicated questions for the doctor, they will have to call in an assistant who has a better grasp of the English language to answer you. The pricing is good and desk staff are friendly, but overall a pretty frustrating experience.

I have been to my share of optometrist and I must say Visual Health by far is the all around best. Convenient, clean and very friendly. I got a full contact eye exam. Dr. Ashish was really nice and engaging. Overall process was very quick and smooth. I would recommend Visual Health to anyone.

I came in last week for an eye exam which went very well. I was seen almost immediately after filling out my paperwork- which is a rare occurrence at doctors offices. The staff was extremely friendly and helped me find something with in my budget and with out judgment. I am still a student so my budget was def limited... I was able to get some cute frames and update the lenses in my current pair. The optometrist office I used to go to before would kind of stop caring if you were not willing to spend an arm and a leg but Visual health worked with me and treated me with respect and care throughout the process. Im glad I found this gem... Its safe to say that I will be returning here every year!

Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had! I went back four times and they still couldn’t get my prescription right. They kept insisting that I must wear eyeglasses every day when I told them I only use them to drive. The fourth time I went in the lady took my glasses and had some bleeding scab on her hand which was all over my glasses. She then tried to hand them back to me and I told them to keep the glasses, left and will never return.

After trying multiple optometrists this year, I had given up on the idea of finding contacts that would work. However, I was finally able to find the perfect fit thanks to the doctor at this location. The staff and Doctor were all very friendly and took time to make me feel welcome and comfortable (something Ive rarely encountered at other doctors offices). I originally came into buy contacts but the staff worked out a deal where I could get a pair of raybans as well with out increasing my budget! 💯❗️

Great experience - the exam was very professional and reminded me of the quality and care I used to see often when I was young. I really appreciated the no pressure sales which seems to plague optometrist offices these days. And customer service has been above and beyond. I will definitely be going back for my regular exams.

Ive had my contact lens exams here for two years. They are always available and the receptionists are always friendly. Really sad to see this location close.

Absolutely terrible service. I went here with my family about a week ago and we were basically trampled as soon as we walked in. First I got snared at by the customer service area desk. I was thrilled I needed glasses and I had been waiting so long to receive them, I came in with the expectation to spend a lot on my glasses but the Doctor himself acted as if he didnt know what was going on and kept pitching me more and more deals, basically stuffing them down my throat trying to get me to bite onto one and spend too much. I refused and he kept saying that I wouldnt be getting the best service as if he wasnt trying his hardest because after I told him no he completely gave up and halfassed everything. 1/10.

Had my eyes examed for glasses and contact. Dr. Ashish and his staff are professional in their job. Theyre also very caring and helpful. They made wearing contact much easier for me by describing a few tricks. Im very satisfied.

His prices are very competitive as well, so it saves me time because I dont have to compare prices online. I have been twice for my yearly eye exam (contacts and glasses) the receptionist are AMAZING! The service is quick, they provided me with a great deal on yearly ocntacts that I wear and I highly recommend.

Nancy really saved me when my glasses broke and I didnt have another pair. She put my glasses back together with pieces from frames she had so I could have glasses until the replacement parts for mine came in.

Friendly staff and professional doctor. I had an eye related emergency last weekend. Dr. Ashish checked my eyes throughly. He also helped me find a specialist on Sunday to make sure my eyes were OK.

Definitely not a great place to order contact lens. Be forewarned, they have two locations w/ minimal interoffice communication. I originally went to the Fairfax location 1 and a half months ago but was told that I needed to pick it up in Tysons Corner. I settle for contacts because I was told there was a free shipping for a year supply so despite being told to pick up, I opted to have it mailed out. Waited 2 weeks, followed-up, repeat.. flashback to current and Im still missing my contact lenses. I settled for having them ship to the Fairfax location for pick-up,but guess what? They are unable to find my order in any of the location and are looking at maybe doing this roller coaster all-over again .

I am so impressed by Dr. Ashish Chhitwal and his team. My son received glasses for the first time and I got new contacts. From the reservation call, front desk, customer service and the doctor, we got excellent service! In my 17 years of wearing contacts, Ive never have seen as clearly as I do now. I am forever grateful to Dr. Chhitwal. Everyone was patient with my 9 year old son as he chose glasses. They praised him and told him how great and trendy he looked. It really gave him a boost. Helping a child feel confident is definitely a gift and this place has it. Please, I highly recommend Visual Health in Fairfax, Va. You will not be disappointed, I promise!

The Doctor has a great disposition and does his job well. I never had such a quick AND accurate eye exam in... ever? This prize of the office is his office staff though. I kept having one issue after other. With the insurance, flex medical card, and other things. They never showed annoyance and handled it like pros. I would love to go into detail about how much they went above and beyond but this is getting long enough as it is. On top of all that, turns out there is a closer office to me and they put in my order to be picked up there so I wouldnt have to drive all the way back. With or without a groupon this is a great place for your eyewear needs. Ill be taking my son in soon for their kids special: 2 glasses for $129, for less than the price of one I have his glasses and his spare ready to go. Thank again for everything!

I would like to start by saying I dont enjoy writing negative reviews unless the experience was horrific. I recently came in with an open attitude/mind since this optometrist had great reviews. It was the complete opposite. As usual like any doctors appointment, the expected wait was 30 mins past my appt. time (not a big deal) but the thing that I don’t understand is how you can advertise a “comprehensive exam” but have it last 10 mins… During my exam it seemed very rushed with little eye test and the doctor speeding through my questions as if he had to be somewhere. After the exam the receptionist had said I owed $89 dollars for the contacts exam (this is plus my insurance). Mind you I had called in/asked for the comprehensive exam for glasses that was $59 and $225 credit towards new glasses (the whole point I came in). She said that’s not what I just examined for and the best they could do was replace my lenses on my old frame for $150 more. At this point I was furious because I did not need new contacts and my old frame did not fit. Another thing that led me to this optometry practice was their heavy promotions on the Ray-Ban brand. As I walked back and forth through their selection I found 1 pair of glasses with this brand. The rest seemed outdated and not appealing to the new style/ younger generations. The entire selection of frames was all similar to each other. The attitude of the doctor and receptionist were also terrible. It felt as though they didn’t care for your well-being and see you for your money. If you are looking for an optometrist I highly recommend going somewhere else. Like I mentioned earlier, I went in with no expectations especially since I haven’t been to the eye doctors in a few years.

My experience was efficient both cost and timewise. when i came in i was in a pretty big rush because i forgot to get my wifes birthday gift :/ I let the staff know i was in a hurry and they were very helpful! we were able to choose out some awesome frames and price everything out while I waited to be seen. The manager was kind enough to let the doctor know i was in a hurry and he was able to take care of me fast and well. they were able to get me the premium coating (def worth the $) and nice marc jacob frames for less than I spent on no-name brand glasses the last place i went. AND the guy who makes the glasses fixed my sunglasses for free while i was in my exam! I highly recommend this place if you want to save money and are in a time crunch!

As one of my practical Christmas gifts for my wife, I decided to buy her a pair of designer prescription glasses. Visual Health Doctors (VHD) came up in my search as they had a Groupon for an eye exam and a percentage off lenses. I called in and spoke with the office manager Ranya who was more than helpful. When we came to the office we met with Ranya, and she had displayed the same excellent customer service in person. She offered up a cost comparison (what my health insurance would cover vs. VHDs current promotion) so that I would make the best purchasing decision. At the end of the day, my wife loves her new glasses and we were happy with the service provided by VHD.

I went in for an eye exam and new glasses. When they arrived the next week, the prescription was inaccurate.I set up an appointment to return for a recheck, but was unable to make it. My wife canceled the appointment that morning. That afternoon, I received a call from a rude receptionist claiming my appointment was not canceled and she wanted to know if I was coming in. I live an hour away and her attitude put me off. I said I would not be coming in and would just like my money back. At this point, she became belligerent and said there were no refunds. I had to come in for a recheck or lose my money.I posted a very unhappy review and was almost immediately contacted by the owner, Ashish Chhitwal, wishing to make amends and clear up the matter to my satisfaction. It took about a week to get in touch with their office manager, Seema (which I believe was a problem on my phone providers end), but once I did, she was gracious, polite, patient, and very willing to work with me to resolve the situation, even if it meant refunding my money.Instead, we worked out an agreement that was mutually beneficial. Dr. Blankenship rechecked my previous exam and discovered that it was wrong. My glasses are being corrected and will be mailed to me, so I will not have to make the hour drive again. In addition to that, Seema was willing to do even more for me to rectify my previously bad experience. Lest people attempt to scam them into freebies, I wont say all that was done, but suffice it to say she went far beyond my expectations and left me with the feeling that they take their patient satisfaction extremely seriously.I am thrilled that things have worked out so well and that I feel appreciated and respected as a customer. I would give 5 stars, but I am still a bit wary of that one receptionist and their selection of frames is a bit small. However, they do carry the newest styles, so if that is what you are seeking, you should be able to find what you need. The new styles just dont look that great on me, so Im used to having to search high and low for that one pair.So, on the chance you have a less than stellar visit, please contact either the owner or Seema. They will take you seriously and work with you to make sure your needs and concerns are met and that your experience and interactions with them are ultimately to your satisfaction.

I was looking for a place with better options for frames than Hour Eyes, so I bought a Groupon and went to Visual Health in Vienna/Tysons. Sales staff was knowledgeable and helpful, though a little pushy to upgrade lenses. Was unhappy with the fact that all of the equipment used for the eye exam was dusty and not cleaned between patients - I could see makeup residue from the people before me, and there were not the typical tissue guards I was used to from other optometrists. I was invited to put on new contact lenses in the bathroom which was not very clean and was out of paper towels.Frame selection was very good, and the sales staff worked with me to find a good price (though the discounts seemed to be sort of a haggling thing which I am uncomfortable with). I left having paid more than I hoped, even with the Groupon, but I think I would have been totally okay with that had the facilities been more spic and span. Neither the contacts I purchased nor the frames & lenses were available the day of purchase, unless I drove out to Fairfax (delay with frames are understandable, but the contacts were a heavily advertised product and I would have expected they would be in stock). Happy with products I purchased overall, and the store seems to stock good products.

I have been to this place a few times and each time, my experience kept getting worse. First time I went in for my glass eye exam, and Dr. Chitwal rushed through it and finished it within 5 mins. He did not even inform me that I had an updated prescription and needed to get new glasses, which I came to know from the receptionist. When I told her that I did not want to buy glasses from them, she was really rude after that. Second time, I took my brother for the eye exam, and the doctor did not even do the eye exam correctly, and gave him a WRONG prescription, which he realized after he already spent money on his new glasses. When we complained about it, they tried to put the blame on us because we did not get the glasses from them. He spent more money on getting another eye exam done at Walmart and new pair of glasses. From the rude Asian receptionist to inexperienced doctors, my experiences at this place have been horrible and waste of money.

I had an so so visit. I was given a prescription for progressive lens which do not work for me but oh well. What has been obnoxious is the emailing, telephoning, texting me for another appointment! I have asked on multiple occasions for them to remove me from their lists and I continue to literally be harassed. Stay away from this place.
