Came to freeway sports center after a boat deal gone bad with another place. Wish I would have came here in the first place. Very happy with the help and knowledge that Joel provided. Dave in parts was also very helpful in helping me with all the other stuff you need when picking up a new boat. Very happy with my purchase.
I bought a boat there last summer. When I went to use it several days ago it seemed like one of the batteries had an issue.I called them, they told me to come right on up, they tested the battery, agreed with me that it was defective, gave me a battery and I was on my way!It was truly a non-event, which meant that it was nothing less than 5 Star service. These people are helpful, friendly and fair!I highly recommend them!Bob
Full service dealership. Convenient location. Great staff.
I bought my boat from Jim. I took his advice on how to set it up and I’m very happy that I did. Jim is very knowledgeable and doesn’t try to sell you anything you don’t need. I bring my boat back every year for the maintenance and service schedule. Everyone that works there has taken excellent care of me and anything I have needed. I highly recommend freeway sports center if you are purchasing a boat or need service.
Purchased a Backwater GX690 and had it installed today. Andrew did an awesome job in ordering and scheduling the installation on my boat. Cant say enough about the great service from Jim, Andrew, and the guys who installed the motor. Thanks to all!
Dave in parts is completely rude does not no his business do not waste your time there is must better boat dealer to buy from. If you want good service Dont go to freeway!
Great boat dealer, much better than all others I’ve dealt with. Andrew did a great job helping me buy a boat. Great communication before and after the sale!
Awesome sales and service center. Front start to finish this season we have had a great experience with Freeway. Our salesman Joel was very knowledgeable and helpful without the pressure when we purchased our pontoon this spring.I can’t say enough about the service team as well. We are storing and having some work done for the off season with Freeway. They got us checked in seamlessly. Embarrassingly our SUV ran out of gas in their service parking lot when we were about to leave. The service guys (dad and son) noticed immediately and came to the rescue with some fuel. We couldn’t be more appreciative of such friendly helpful service from start to finish.
A very busy place with friendly costumer service and knowledgeable people
Will send anyone there that wants good price and good service, thanks Joel
What super hero’s! We were headed up to Traverse City with our boat when a tire flew off of our trailer. We had our trailer and boat towed up to Freeway and they managed to find us a new trailer and got us back on the road in a couple of hours. Being that it’s the week leading up to the holiday, we knew our chances were slim. Jim, Joel and Craig were SUPER helpful and accommodating. Thanks guys for the great service and urgency!
Good service large variety boat products
I am only giving one star because zero isnt an option. We took our boat to Freeway Sports Center for an insurance job after it was damaged in the floods on Wixom Lake. The day we dropped it off, they told us they were very busy and it could take several weeks before they could look at it, which sounded reasonable to me. After 3 months of waiting, I called them to find out what had been done. I was informed that they had looked at the engine and found nothing wrong, and that they needed to order after market panels for the sides that had been crushed. After another month with no communication from Freeway Sports, I called again only to be told that they wont install after market panels and I should come pick up my boat. What a waste of time!! I will never go back, and would never recommend this place to anyone.
Joel was great. We walked in he listened to what we wanted pointed us to the perfect new boat. Got it delivered quickly and picked up our trade in. He does business the way it should be done.
The serves is great.
Expensive for a shop that deals with nothing but boats and equipment.
Sales staff are very knowledgeable and no pressure Thanks so much for all the help! Were going to love our new boat !
Great people to work with. Love my new boat.
Great parts dept. Had everything in stock, quick and knowledgeable.
Freeway sports are very knowledgeable about their products. They provide boats, accessories and provide services..
Jim was great, he had all the answers to my questions and directed me to the water jet ski I was looking for. I bought two Yamaha ex sports and they are fantastic, perfect for what I needed, I live on Whitmore lake. highly recommend freeway motor center👍👍👍👍👍
Bought a pontoon on July 19. Only owned for a couple days. So far so good. Awesome deal. The staff was excellent. Very helpful. And friendly.
Very helpful and knowledgeable, always can find the parts I need.
Excellent. Went far beyond the normal to be helpful and give much needed advice. Didnt even clear the front door before someone asked to help us. A lot of places you can drop dead and start to decompose before anyone notices you are even there. No worries at all here.
They messed up my title work twice. Had to wait a month and a half to even send out for my registration. Worst experience ever.
I highly recommend this Dealer. I recently bought a brand new War Eagle boat from them. Unfortunatley i have had some issues with just about everything that could go wrong with this, from the boat to the motor to the trailer. Its NO fault of this dealer because the issues came from the manufacturer as the dealer does NOT make the products, they just sell them . Such is life as you can buy brand new anything now a days like a car, home, boat, snowmobile, etc.. and issues will pop up. Lucky me the issues hit on just about everything. But the reason I am giving a 5 star rating is because the True sign of a good business is how are they going to handle it, when things dont go as planned after the sale? Are they just going to take your money and run or ignore you once the sale is complete and brush you aside to the bottom of the list?I can say that the Owner Jim and his Service manager Stan stood Tall and took care of me and helped me every step of the way and made my issues a priority in getting them fixed. This is the most important issue to me when i decide to buy something from someone as since i know that life is going to happen and just because you buy brand new that things dont always go as planned. So I look for in a business how is the service going to be After the sale? I can truly say I am very impressed and most appreciative of this dealer and for the actions of the owner Jim and his Service manager Stan and how they took care of me and fixed all my issues and fixed them quickly. They were very understanding and concerned and worked on it and made it right. Now that the issues should be done, i am really loving my brand new boat that I got from them.I highly recommend this place for the level of service that i received after the sale and for the high level of customer service attitude in the owner Jim and his service manager Stan!I can tell you from personal experience you dont find this level of committment and service often. 3 years ago i bought a brand new Very expensive pontoon boat from a dealer in Traverse City. Had issues with it right out of the gate and the owner was atrocious. I never read the reviews before I bought on them, and when i pulled the reviews up after the fact, it was full of people who had issues like me and were treated the same horrible, careless way from that dealer and the owner. So trust me when I say that if you care about service after the point of sale- you have found the right dealer in Freeway Sports.Thank you.Sincerely,Brian
Very nice place. Good selection for the type of boats they sell. Knowledgeable staff. Excellent service manager oh, Stan.
I take my boat over there for shrink wrapping, I like the job they do the best.
I took my 2006 Yamaha jet boat to Freeway Sports Center for service. The engines were running very rough, spreading oil in the water and the boat had a smell of gas fumes. I did not buy the boat there but they were the closest Yamaha dealer and I wanted a factory trained dealer. The technician that wrote it up said it could be something simple or something major. I feared the worse. Although they were busy, they were able to get to my boat quickly. The problem was the oil had been overfilled and it fouled the spark plugs which led to several problems but only required new spark plugs, oil filters, and a good cleaning. The cost to get it running like new was less than I expected. They even drove it around their lake to make sure it was really running properly. When I went to pick up the boat, it was a few minutes before closing time. They did not rush me and explained what was done. I realized that I forgot to tell them that the trailer lights were not working. Even though they had already closed, they opened up to get the parts needed and stayed about 45 minutes past closing time to replace the lights and make sure I could drive home safely. Many places would tell you to come back the next day. When it comes time to replace my boat, I am definitely going back to Freeway Sport Center.
Bought my waverunner here. All the workers are nice. I went through Joel to purchase mine and he got me the model I wanted in a week, even though they didnt have it in stock.
A year ago I was upset with the service I received. After spending eleven hundred dollars for engine work (carb kits, etc.) on my 2002 Yamaha, the boat did not run. With the replacement of an $8 part it ran great, so I believe the diagnostic was wrong in the first place. Now I am not sure what was done, that I paid for..here is the story: In preparation for launch this week (May 2019) we found the carbs were dirty, the fuel pump needed replaced...bottom line, I dont believe the work was ever done right at the Freeway service center. Not much to do now but move forward, just want others to beware.
Salesman was excellent and Willing to stay within my price range without any pressure to spend more.
Freeway MotorsportsThe Worst Sales Experience I’ve HadShort Version:Very poor communication and poor customer service. They either don’t care, don’t understand, or are just clueless. Buy your boat elsewhere unless absolutely necessary.Long Version (I left a full review on their Facebook page, I had to shorten this due to character limits):The customer service and communication is awful. I had to approach Joel, a salesman, the first time I went there, on 8/28 he was coarse and condescending. When I decided on a boat on 9/4 and called him at 1221 to order it there were some changes in price due to accessories, so I asked him to e-mail me an itemized list, and he asked “what do you need that for?” I explained I wanted to see what was costing what, and he again asked “well what do you want to know?” I don’t know Joel, perhaps I’d like to see what all I’m getting and what it costs prior to spending thousands of dollars. Finally, I had to say “well how bad do you want to sell the boat?” After a snicker I could clearly hear over the phone, he agreed to email me the itemized list. It was getting close to closing time and I still hadn’t received an email from him and thought maybe it didn’t go through, he became busy, had an emergency, etc., so I called at 1638 and asked. I get called “man” and am told how busy he got, which I can appreciate, but you still have to take care of your customers, that’s kind of part of being a....salesman?Finally at about 1731 or so I received a sort of itemized list with only the complete boat and accessories price, the winch price, and rails/winch mount priced. A total of three “items.” Although, I will give him credit that he sent pictures of what my boat would look like. That was about best part of my experience with him. There’s so much more that I wrote in the Facebook review which I can’t fit here. But it’s worth your while to find it and read it to be fully informed. If you have any choice to get your boat or motor, etc. from anywhere else do it. I would not recommend Freeway to any one of my friends or family. There is little to no customer SERVICE which is hard to believe being a SALES based company.
Salesperson Joel was very friendly and helpful on my questions on a new trailer.
Good staff, very knowledgeable! Great to deal with
Bought our last 2 boats here! Jim and his staff are great. Whether youre buying or servicing a boat, Freeway is 2nd to none!
Stan at freeway is the man to talk to for service. Very knowledgeable and runs a great service center.
Very good experience buying our first jet boat, Jim was easy to work with and Greg the Tech was very helpful walking us around the boat.
Dave is a knowlagable and great customer service oriented professional ! A true asset to the company !!!
Very nolligeable and quick to help find what you need.
Freeway sports was very helpful with all my needs Dave in parts was awesome to work with with a lot of knowledge ! Thanks Dave ! Definitely would recommend them for all your boating needs
Small businesses need to recognize that social media is a powerful tool for customer experiences, both good and bad, to be broadcast publicly for the benefit of all that might consider purchasing product or services from them. With that said, here is my experience dealing with Freeway Sports Center of Fenton, MI.I was shopping for a specific model of Hurricane Deck boat as I live in Georgia. Through the internet I found the model of boat I was looking for at this dealer. Having owned a previous year of the same model I questioned whether the boat had specific features. With confirmation I purchased this new boat and had it transported to Georgia.Upon arrival we had three issues: Missing an access cover, no snap-on carpet, and the motor did not run over idle. Not to belabor the point but the sales rep denies he told me it included carpet, etc. etc. etc. Says he reviewed the inventory card with me over the phone...of course he didnt.Delivery check didn’t notice the missing lid. Of course their Parts Dept. couldn’t look up the correct part number and they sent the wrong one. I had to then send them pictures that didn’t do much good so I contacted Hurricane directly and in less than a minute got the correct part number for them. As of this writing I am still waiting for the cover (11 days since boat arrival).Lastly, this big Yamaha 200 HP motor wouldn’t run. Their service department advised it could be a number of things but probably a fuel ‘pull’ tube in the tank or another part related to it. Told me where it was located on the fuel tank so I spent hours in a very small working area trying to get it out, but it doesn’t come out. Only lifts out partially and then you can’t check anything. A few more calls and no progress. Finally, contacted a local Georgia Hurricane/ Yamaha dealer and $100 later I am quickly advised it had to be an obstruction. We immediately find it and discover one of the fuel lines installed by Freeway was not tested for obstruction during motor installation. Runs perfect now!Result: I have to eat the $100 for the motor repair. Still waiting for the access-hole lid. Freeway will sell me the carpet (cost). Of course they will !I gave Freeway Sports Center over $33,000 for all this fun. You can decide if you want to do the same thing!
Ive personally dealt with these guys over several years and can honestly say for the most part they have always been good for me. There products are very good quality I personally have purchased several new polar kraft boats from them over the years and have never had a problem with them. Jim has always been helpful and Mary and Dave in parts department are awesome. My most recent purchase was a new 2018 polar kraft 179 wt frontier and its a beast of a fishing boat love it so far I am usually not a five star guy and my purchase was in June of 2018 so in this case maybe a little more time I will probably update this post and give a solid 5 star.by the way my prior 3 boats were brand new lunds in the same size class and they honestly did not hold a candle to my new polar kraft .
I took my boat to this business for a pre-season tune up. It was running fine and being a single mother, I just wanted to make sure that I wouldnt have any problems it while out on the lake with my children. When I picked it up, I was told to take it out and quote; run the piss out of it. I took my family out on the boat and about an hour into driving it around, one of my motors began running rough and stalled. It restarted and then ran poorly after restarting. Right then, I called them from the lake. They said that they had taken it out themselves and it ran fine and to just bring it back to them. When we got home my son looked in the engine compartment and found oil every where. After dropping it off to them, we asked them about the oil in the engine area. They said that there was a service bulletin on the engine oil lines coming off and that they were to be checked when these boats came in for any service. They had it for weeks and told me that the engine was ruined and they would replace it for $6500. My boat is only worth about $6000. They refused to work with me at all and wouldnt even discuss paying for parts or labor. They were very rude and condescending to me and charged me over $400 to ruin my boats engine and that I could not pick it up until the re-inspection of the boat was paid for. I would not recommend using this business to anyone for any reason. There are many other reputable marinas and this one is incompetent and crooked! I wish that I would have known this prior to doing business with them. Michelle
Friendly and very knowledgeable about line of work they are in. They really helped us out alot!
Great personality. Very nolagiable and helpful especially in parts
I needed my pontoon brought in for service. i called in and they said they would be out to pick it up in 2 o 3 days. after about 3 weeks, with me calling in and getting different excuses: them saying somehow i got deleted off the list, sorry the owner makes the schedule nothing I can do, etc... I called another place and they picked it up in 2 days and fixed me up. This place is either too busy, poorly run, or they dont care. I would recommend you go somewhere else in my opinion.
Great staff, very helpful. Had exactly what we were looking for!
Always had great service the people are very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with
Great staff, knowledgeable and really nice.
Very nice people and well informed
David D. in the parts department is easily one of the most incompetent and rude employees of any business Ive ever dealt with. He screwed up my part order and when I told him I didnt appreciate it, instead of offering any apology, he took money out of the register and threw it at me and told me not to come back. Okay David, no problem. Ill give my money to Wilsons Marine instead.I guarantee whatever youre looking for Wilsons Marine has in stock (they had 3 of what I needed) and they are far more customer friendly then Freeway Sports.. Dont bother going in to see David at Freeway Sports, the selection stinks and hes not very helpful or freindly.
Great service, fully stocked parts department and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff.
Very nice and helpful people in their service/parts area
Worse company i ever delt with. Bought a brand new mud motor from them a couple years ago. Hasnt ran right since, took it back to them they said nothings wrong with it. Recently i took it into solans, valves were way out of whack since day one. Another bad thing was after i did the sale with Jim i asked him you want to sell me a gas tank or anything? He said go down stairs they will deal with you. Really? How about you take the effort and want to actually sell me something from your shop instead of just passing me along. He couldnt even show effort into trying to sell me anything. That to me after spending that kind of money shows me he doesnt care, i was just another customer. In addition, i took a stator there to have them check it. Idiots are not even mechanically skilled enough to check a stator. My reading checked bad, they check it, they say its good. So i believed them, after spending way more money than i should of on different parts, come to find out my stator was shock. 95% of people i speak to have nothing good to say about freeway. Surprised he still is open. Ill take my business to Linwood marina. Its a drive for me but the owner is a real nice guy.
Great parts department. Very helpful.
Always very helpful and has a great parts selection!Mikes Marine ServiceLinden, MI
