After dropping the vehicle off, Phil informed me that he would do a complete diagnostics on the vehicle. Within hours, got the call and was expecting a big hit $ coming from a transmission company. to our surprise, we just needed to replace the motor mounts. After completion of work, getting back into the vehicle we were surprised of how well the vehicle performed! I took my Expedition in this past week to see if they could correct an issue I had been having for about a year. Had taken it to the Ford dealership twice with no success. Within a few hours they corrected the issue at a fraction of what Ford had charged me. Very knowledgeable staff and their customer service is awesome. We had a transmission done to great success and found out at the checkup that they handled all auto care needs. We had them do a much needed tuneup to another car and also added brakes at one point. These are some real stand up guys, whether youre new to town and looking for a mechanic or youve been going to someone and have an inkling that you could be getting better service, Cottman is the place to go. Ive spent a while talking to Phil and Jake over the past couple weeks now and you can tell that customer experience is their highest priority.I had an older car that wasnt in great shape. I was on the fence of selling it and getting a new car, or trying to fix it up. After the diagnosis, Jake gave me a call and in complete honesty told me to get rid of it. Here was an opportunity for these guys to make a few grand doing repairs but they knew it wouldnt have been the best situation long term.Fast forward to the week after and Im shopping used cars, I take the one I want to the shop to have a pre-purchase inspection. They ran over everything and found a couple things that needed repair, Phil gave me great negotiating tips to haggle with the used car dealer, and ultimately saved me money on a deal they werent getting paid for.Simply put... These guys are the BEST!! If you can make it out to their shop I highly recommend it.

I was having issues with a squeaky belt that I took to another shop to be replaced. But the problem didn’t stop. I saw Cottman Auto in my sister’s neighborhood and they had good reviews. They diagnosed the problem for free and determined that I needed a belt by the manufacturer. It took one day the price was much better than I was expecting. Everyone was nice and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back if any other issues arise for my vehicle.

I went to Cottman Transmission because I was fixing a leaky return hose for power steering of my 1965 Dodge Dart. My brother told me that the o-ring of the transmission kits can sometimes work. I went in and the owner Phil told me to bring the piece the next day. I brought him the piece and they gave me an o-ring which didn’t work. Jake went the extra mile and called Carquest to make sure they had one there. He then gave me the part number. I went and found the o-ring which did work. I would recommend their services to anyone because they helped me solve my problem. Thank you to Phil, Jake, Pepe, and the other employees for their time. I don’t give them five stars, I give them ten stars.

When I got on the phone with Phil he did an excellent job walking me through the process and laying out my options. Found this place when I moved back to FL 5 years ago. Would never go anywhere else again.When I took my 23-year old Honda to them, they recommended repairs that outside of my budget for my 354,000-mile car, but they put it all back together for free. 2 things you rarely say anymore ... honest and fair. Was looking for someone to do some work on my 1992 Ford Explorer. Other businesses either did not want to be bothered with an older car or wanted to charge an arm and a leg. Cottman had done my transmission several years back, they gave a fair price and were happy to work on an older vehicle. THE BEST!

Phil, Jake, and the team at Cottman in Fern Park went above and beyond to repair a persistent shudder in my Ford Transit work van. My research showed the same problem had appeared in other vehicles used in my transportation business and was not always repaired properly.It required a couple of visits, but they patiently answered my questions, showed me the parts involved, researched latest service bulletins from Ford, refused to let me think that I might have to just live with it and would not stop using their skill and experience until the problem was fixed and I was satisfied. After driving another 30,000 miles in my van that now runs like new, I can safely say I am more than satisfied.

We had an intermittent starting issue on the Xterra UGH. Could never tell when you turned the key if it was going to start or not what a horribale feeling. We took our truck to Phil at Cottman and it was diagnosed quickly and repaired quickly and with reasonable pricing.We ouself owned a auto repair garage for over fourty years. They always do a good job of letting me know the cost and they work to save me money on the repairs. Just saw these guys today and although Im bad with names, the guys were awesome, very personable and polite, they also honored a deal I bought on Groupon for their standard oil change and 21 point inspection. They told me what was wrong with it, showed me some prices, didnt force me to get these services done today but informed me my breaks need to be done soon. Not only that the guys didnt charge me for any hidden fees or any additional charges for my oil change like Valvoline does and Valvolines Groupon deals are way more expensive.Thanks guys, Ill be back soon. 😊

Called Phil at Cottman to have him change the transmission fluid in my BMW as I was told it needed the fluid changed. Phil test drove my car and let me know I didnt need a fluid change, in fact he researched my car and found the problem was a chronic problem for my BMW and suggested to me what I needed to do with the dealer to get this resolved. Yesterday my car was at Bills Autotech to diagnose a problem which we both thought was my transmission. I have gone to Bill for years and he is amazing. So Bill suggested I take it to Phil at Cottman Transmission. I was working from home without a car and Phil offered to get my car and drive it to his business. He could not have been nicer, professional and honest. Turned out my driveshaft was installed upside down. Phil said it was not a difficult problem to fix, and did so. He advised there were a few minor things Bill needed to finish and took it back. I wanted of course to pay him and he declined. He saved me a fortune. If I ever in the future have a problem with my transmission, Cottmans would be the only place to take it. I would highly recommend it, especially after reading some reviews. Finding an expert an honest mechanic is worth such peace of mind.

The worst experience ever....I got here before they opened.Which is fine I was up for the wait..the guy was so nice in the beginning...then when he checked my car told me I needed a new transmission and $2700 I wasnt ready for that verdict..I told him I needed to make some financial arrangements..I figure out my plan for being without my car for a while&checking other options..his niceness went away instantly..he wouldnt even drive my car around I had to walk through the back to get my car..he was rude and presumptuous..I went home prayed and sought a new place to take my car..I went to a transmission place off of Forsyth..the guy drove my car while I was in it..he told me to leave my car with him for 24 hours..I had to make arrangements by getting a renting to get to work..not a problem..I left my car a few days left &the guy changed a fuse and said your car is driving fine now..but I will keep it a little longer bc that happened within an hour of him having my car..I picked my car up the next day..its been almost a year and my car has been great..the guy at that transmission shop didnt even charge me a dime....my car was driving bad before I went to him..he couldve easily charged me $500 just for the simple fact that my car was %100 better than it was when I left it with him...but he didnt because he is honest!!!I went from having to pay these rip offs $2700 to not paying a dime and my car is still running well..glory to God and Im grateful that I went to the transmission shop that I went to after leaving got-mans!!!

Cottman rebuilt a transmission for my 4wd SUV. they did a good job, are focused on customer satisfaction, and if something isnt right they will make it right.

I recently had a freak accident where my ABS locked up and I slide straight into a curb. I end up bending my tie rod. Busting up some control arms and all. It was a mess but Cottoman Transmission took good care of the problem. I was back on the road the following day. Phil and Jake really looked out for me.

Went to Cottman for transmission work. This place is a joke. I wrote a list of my concerns including hard shifting when car was dropped off. Phil called me the next day and said my he ran the codes and did research on the computer and found I needed a sensor and wires inside my transmission pan. Hyundai had put out a service bulletin on the car. This part was failing. I asked if this would fix the hard shifting in my car. He said yes this was the problem. I went ahead and had the work done, picked up the car 3 days later and paid. On my way home, the car started to hard shift. I called and spoke to Jake. He said to give it a week the transmission needed to learn. I gave it a week with the problem getting worse. When I called again, Phil said for me to bring the car up on a Friday afternoon. I did through awful I4 traffic. When I got there, he would not allow me to drive the car to show him the problem. He plugged in my car and said my transmission was happy. He didnt listen to the instructions I gave him on how to replicate the issue. Then he passed me off by saying its Friday and other people want their cars. I tried multiple times. On the way home from S.C., I called only to get laughed at when I said misdiagnosed. Then when my husband called, he got yelled at and was told we must not have better things to do with our lives then to call and there better be something wrong with your car or else I am going to get you. Really? This is the way you treat your customers. I called my credit card company to reverse the charges. The next day, we received a voicemail from Phil stating how today is a new day and we would like to take care of you. I called to voice my concerns and explain why I did not feel comfortable taking my car back to them. Like there better be something wrong with your car or else I am going to get you. Dont know who would be comfortable with that comment. Phil hung up the phone on me. Well my husband didnt like that so he calmly called Phil only to be yelled at again. When my husband told Phil he was not being talked to in the manner Phil was talking to him, and he was hanging up the phone. Phil started calling him back from 3 other numbers. Can we say HARRASSMENT! I went to Hyundai the next day and was told I needed a new transmission and my differential was leaking. Also my transmission fluid looked old and dirty. At that point, I told Hyundai what had happened at Cottman and they laughed. They said my transmission pan did not look like it had been dropped and there was no way the fluid in my car was new. Cottman charged me for new fluid in the end of July this was Aug 23. Can we say LIERS!! To top the issue off, I had received 2 letters at my house from Cottman. One was regular mail, the other was certified which I will not sign for. The letter I received in regular mail stated how they wanted to help me, then how the credit card company will always side with him, then how he will seek legal action against me. YOUR CRAZY PHIL!! I immediately called my credit card company to let them know how much he was contacting me. They said he should not be communicating with me at all and if it continues to contact the police. Hyundai told me that if Cottman had actually driven my car, they would have noticed that I needed a new transmission. MISSDIAGNOSED. Phil actually laughed at me when I said he misdiagnosed my car. Stay far away from CRAZY PHIL at COTTMAN who by the way is not BBB certified and has an F rating. It also states on the BBB website that they have asked him to remove the BBB certification and he refuses. Beware of this place. He obviously knows he has done me wrong or he wouldnt have pursued me this way.

WARNING ! STAY AWAY. This business is NOT BBB accredited and have it listed on their website AS accredited. Phil mocks clients, threatens clients, and did this to my wife and I in front of our autistic teenager. I stepped in after he ridiculed my wife over her truck repairs to request he not behave this way. He went from really nice to borderline psychopath. Phil does not want to hear the client or actually drive cars. He only uses a code reader and repairs by code, not by ASE certified diagnostic testing and assessment. INAPPROPRIATE! They failed to properly diagnose a violently shifting Hyundai Santa FE transmission. Our Santa Fe was slamming into 4th and 3rd gear wile downshifting at highway speeds. Endless visits and calls to resolve the issue were mocked and degraded. We were told to go to Autozone instead of come back to them. They said the transmission would re-learn itself or would need to be reset, but to wait a week. This went on for 3 weeks! call, wait, excuse; call wait, excuse. call, wait, excuse after excuse after excuse....The problem is worse. They refuse to drive the car. They refuse to actually assess the car that violently shifts 3-4 times a mile, every day, every week, CANNOT MISS THIS PROBLEM!!!! Yelling at my wife is how they CHOSE to handle addressing the transmission problem. They avoid dealing with working the transmission problem. Phil and Cottman feel mocking and getting into accusatory statements are the most professional way to handle their business. If you want your money taken and your problems NOT resolved, youre better off avoiding this place to save the headache and the failure to address the exact issue you bring the car in for. Im now taking the truck to the dealership and paying AGAIN for the work! What a nightmare. The positive reviews of this business are FALSE!!! I have been verbally degraded by Phil for saying I would be writing a review of our experiences with Cottman. Phil spent more time screaming at me over his arrogant reputation than ACTUALLY focusing on the transmission problem which sounds like a loud bang. The problem IS able to be replicated over and over. It violently shifts 3-4 times every mile even with the cruise control on. I hoped they would be different because a good mechanic is extremely hard to find, but they are NOT. They are just another egotistical business that appears to think they should be paid top dollar for bad work and failed diagnostics. They lie about their BBB accreditation and its posted on their website. LOOK THEM UP BBB does NOT support this business for their unprofessional behavior. Our truck is still not fixed. Phil actually called me several times from different numbers to scream at me and threaten how he will do what ever it takes to embarrass me to my credit card company so he gets his money. He should be fired! Sunny FM radio should not support the verbal harassment and failures of a company like this. Also Phil said Cottman refuses to work on BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi because they are complicated. I cant put any faith in a mechanic or business that cant service even a VW Jetta, sad. Dont waste your time or money!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!We refuse to return after the way were talked to, treated and verbally abused after the failed and misdiagnosed repairs. Neither of us feel remotely comfortable engaging with them at all. After the threat to come after me and embarrass me to the credit card company for asking they drive the vehicle was absurd. They spend more time blaming everyone else and worrying about getting into debates that ACTUALLY addressing the car. I didnt appreciate Phil calling me constantly from several different phone numbers after I asked him not to contact us anymore. A BBB complaint, dealership eval will resolve the problem. They plain refused to diagnose the problem in the beginning. Phil also threatened to respond to ANY review posted about his business.Update: We have received legal threats from Phil, phone calls from random phone number with him screaming. DO NOT CONTACT US PSYCHO PHIL!
