Brought my truck in for a routine oil change, while there it was discovered that I also needed four new tires. After I went back for the tires, it just so happened that I now needed new break pads after something was again discovered while the tires were changed. I go back a third time in two months and get new breaks. What do you know? My exhaust is having issues now! Very peculiar that everytime I bring my truck in, theres something new wrong with it! So, I decided to go to Dennis Garage in Lunenburg after that and guess what? There is NOTHING WRONG with my exhaust! I told them what I had gone through with Brownell Auto and the guys at Dennis Garage told me that was a common issue with Brownell (finding issues that arent there for more money) and that the owner runs a very seedy business with very iffy people working there. Never again.

These guys have done incredibly difficult work on my BMW, and the work has always been top notch. Rates are always reasonable. Unless it is literally impossible, I always go to Brownell.

Chris and his Father run an amazing operation. Theyre one of the few used car dealers that also run a ( large) full-service repair shop. Incredibly honest business dealings with them for both used car purchases (2 thus far) and for automotive repairs. I recommend them highly.

My family has been taking our vehicles for repairs to Brownell for years and they always do a great job with good prices. The mechanic Billy can fix absolutely anything!I recently decided to get a pickup truck and they gave me a great deal. Everything went smooth with no problems. They helped me get really good financing too. I cant recommend them enough.

Great staff and service

I bought a car on a Saturday morning from Brownell. I had seen the car on a Thursday or Friday and they said they just got the car and they were looking it over before they could sell it. When I bought the car, I noticed there was a CD in the player that would not come out. The next Monday, the muffler fell off on the highway. I asked them to also remove the CD when they fixed the muffler...they didnt. They also left their oily hand prints all over the outside of the white car. A few days later, I also notice the dash lights arent working. I take the car back and got major attitude, also asked them to wipe off the hand prints they left. They didnt. A few weeks later, after warranty was up, I took the car to a place to get an oil change. They said the oil was so low they dipstick didnt even touch it. A few more weeks later, I notice a horrible grinding sound coming from the right front of the car---also, I have a flat tire. I went to a place to get the tire replaced and also have them check out the grinding noise. The guy said theres something wrong with the transmission, and that hes never seen anything like it before, and its going to cost over 2 grand to fix.I dont think Brownell ever checked out the mechanics of the car. It was clean on the inside, and thats about it. I dont think they ever even put oil in it. They didnt even realize the dash lights werent working. The only looking over they did was probably walking around the car and looking at the outside.Do not buy a car here.

Best repair shop in town!!!! Been to four other shops in town for my check engine light, spent over a grand at other places to try and fix it, to no avail. Brownell was able to get rid of my light and repair my vehicle for under $100.00, should have just gone there first, would have saved a bunch.

2011 Hyundai with front end noise when taking right turn. Turned out to be difficult to diagnose and John stood by the repairs performed and ended up replacing parts for no cost to fix the problem. I really appreciate the honesty and effort of Brownell auto repair and am a customer forever.

We can’t thank the owner John enough for helping our son. He goes to FSU and we are two hours away so we were looking for a trustworthy place for him to take his truck to have his brakes repaired.When I called and spoke to John he didn’t hesitate and told me to send him over so he could meet him and take a look.He not only took a look but he hopped in the truck and went for a ride with our son to feel how the brakes were.That gave us peace of mind because when once he saw how bad they were he suggested our son not ride the truck until he dropped it off to be serviced.We highly recommend Brownell’s and will definitely use them again when needed!!Excellent staff & Service!!

I’ve never stressed about my car less! I took my vehicle to the dealership for 4 years and drained my wallet over unnecessary costs. But not here!! Chris and John run the show at the front desk and tell you exactly like it is, no B.S. Costs are all accurate and honest, and they actually try to keep prices low for you!! They have haggled with auto-part yards to find me the most cost effective parts when my Subaru needs love. They are a small (looking) auto body that pumps out ALOT of vehicles. I was originally sent over to Brownell for service via CarStarr. While waiting I realized the fitchburg police entrust them with their patrol vehicles for service. I made the safe assumption they must be good and gave ‘em a try. 1 year later and I would never dream of going anywhere else with my car. Quaintly owned by Father and son, they are honest, personable, and cut ALL THE BS out of getting your car serviced. My 2014 Subaru Legacy feels brand new every time I get it back. They are the best of the best.

Hello,I have read some reviews above but they are very different from my experience.I found the staff very friendly and willing to help.These qualities make the provider stand out in the market.I was referred to Brownell Auto sales by a friend and i was not dissapointed.They have replaced all faulty parts even after sales(The Buy from them was indeed a good buy as per market rates). They have also given me useful tips to keep my vehicle in the best possible conditions.

They are excellent mechanics and wont price gouge. They have worked on my 2010 Chev HHR and my 2002 Vintsge Mazda Miata SE. Very nice guys.

Chris came to my house to personally inspect vehicle. He said he would take a look and get back to us. Definitely blew the engine. Gave us a very reasonable price to repair engine. I am very satisfied with brownell auto.About 2 years ago I bought a truck (Expedition).The car was a perfect fit for my family and is still running perfectly today.I am really pleased with the car and I can honestly say nothing bad about it.I have no other comments about the car except that it was a perfect fit for the price I paid.About a month or 2 after purchasing I ran into a couple small problems just like any used car and they fixed it up within the week. I would definitely recommend these guys to everyone.

I dont know why people gave negative review to these guys. I got what I want here and they have a very friendly staff. I have been using this company for 5 years and have refered them to all of my friends. They are very good in nature to their customers and have also definitely provided better service than others in the area. These guys have been around forever and in my opinion have some of the best mechanics and staff working for them in central massachusetts.
