The food has always been delicious and staff is courteous and prompt. A little cold this morning due to the heater being out. Not a regular occurrence though. Love the corned beef hash.
Great little diner! I have had a few different omelets and all of them have been good. The biscuits and gravy is among the best in town and the French toast is really good as well. If your in the mood for lunch they have great burgers and their ultimate grilled cheese is incredible.
We had breakfast today and the waitress was very sweet....Most of the food was very good, I think butter is tastier on my toast and the sausage is weird flavor.... the coffee was amazing so was the rest of the food !!!Much better then the last time I was there....keep up the good work
Wonderful atmosphere, and wait staff; the burgers were fantastic. Full of flavor. The waffle fries were good and crispy. And the Texas toast had the perfect hint of butter. I wish we had saved room for dessert because the pies looked fabulous. We’re so sorry that we don’t live in the area or we would be back.
Ive gone here several times and love the food! Biscuits are my favorite in the fort! This time we came with my girls and it wasnt bad but the lack of any kind of things to entertain lil ones is a little bit of a downer but hey it is what it is.
We love chrome. Close to home. A little pricey but the food is worth it. They recently added a breakfast buffet which is great as well. Service is okay they always seem a little understaffed but they do their best. I would recommend the house skillet
We went for breakfast. The coffee was really good. I wasnt very hungry, so I didnt eat all of my meal, but my husband said his was very good. We will go back again sometime.
First time going there -this place is amazing - the waitress was so busy being the only one there but her service was so amazing- thank you so very much for great experience we will be coming back
I was a regular customer...but recently I the service is terrible! I waited 5 minutes before a waitress acknowledged me at my most recent visit. Then at least 5 minutes later a different waitress came over to ask what I would like to drink. I said water and coffee black please. I was served water but no coffee. After another 5-8 minutes I noticed that all 3 waitresses were standing behind the counter. My waitress was reading the paper, talking on her cell and drinking coffee! I finally just left...
We ate there last night, fish was great.Great experience. Met the owner, very nice gentleman. Love the hostess, very friendly. Prices were reasonable. Well be back.
I really enjoy the family atmosphere and friendly, laid back feel of Chrome Plate Diner! The food is always very good, its generous portions, and comes out quickly. I really like the decor as well. Its a great place to go at any time of day.
Was a very cute little place. Love the decor. Waitress Suzie was very pleasant and very accommodating. The breakfast was delicious, coffee was very good ( no bitter taste). They were bringing out freshly baked pies that looked awesome ( homemade Suzie said). Have to try a slice next time for sure. We will return. Thanks Suzie for an enjoyable experience.
I so wanted to love this place, but nope - cant because of extremely rude service and sub-par food. And, I got very sick after eating here the last time.I ordered a breakfast skillet and coffee. The coffee was not even recognizable as coffee. It had a chemical taste that made me wonder if they hadnt just cleaned their machine but not rinsed it well enough before using again. Or, maybe it was just the worst coffee ever. Who knows.Service was straight-up rude from the moment I walked in until I left, and it was this way each time I visited. The last time, the server didnt even ask how my food was. Instead she cruised by, slapped the bill down on the table and marched back behind the counter. When I wanted to order scrambled eggs with my skillet, she said that was a problem. She was snippy when I asked why, and I finally just ordered them over hard. Most of the breakfast skillet seemed OK, but there were several bites that had an off taste. It seemed like maybe there were bits of a pepper that had gone bad.I didnt give that second thought until I was galloping for the bathroom a few hours later. I returned the following day to speak with the manager, and a different and even more rude server snapped at me and said there were no problems with their food. If I wanted to speak with the manager I would have to come back the next day, at a specific time. When I returned the next day at the specified time, the same person told me the manager would not be speaking with me, and was not in at all. I told the server I wanted to let them know about the problem and requested my money back for the bad meal. She raised her voice and told me that wouldnt be happening, their food was fine and the manager would not be speaking with me. Period.Welp. So much for that place. While its cute on the inside and conveniently located, there are far too many places in town with GOOD service and better food to give this another visit.
Totally what i did not expect. Hidden treasure, great food and service. Clean atmosphere with fresh food.
Nothing too fancy here. Its just good American food served in a 1950s setting. Seat yourself, menus are on the table, and one of the waitresses will be with you promptly. Dont come here looking for vegan / organic / gluten whatever food holistically grown by monks.
A wanting to make things right, caring restaurant. Just make certaintime is allowed for corrections (verycold food) kitchen issues.Waitresses are great as is manager.Kitchen definitely needs to improve.Should not be giving server cold foodto serve. Makes them look not so good . Server bent over backwards tocorrect but a timed lunch was not socomfortable. Caution needed
Ive been to the CPD many times in the past, but this will be the last. I had the displeasure of actually dealing with the Owner on this visit and she basically called me a lair when I told her that in the past the restaurant honored coupons that THEY send out in the super saver magazine. For me it wasnt a big deal when the Owner told me that they could honor either one or the other coupons I presented at the check out and when I told the Owner that they had done it in the past she basically called me a lair then proceeded to become a real idiot. When I told the Owner that was not the way to treat a customer I went off and told the Owner that apparently in her diner the customer isnt always right. I dropped it, paid my bill, left a decent tip for our waitress (who by the way was good to us). Funny thing is she treated the people we were with worse than they treated us. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will never spend another thin dime in this place ever again. The food is OK but the Owner is a real piece of work. Its funny how one person can change your long help perception of a place with a few short words. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU LIKE GIVING YOUR HARD EARNED $$ TO AN OWNER WHO HAS NO APPRECIATION TO THOSE FOLKS WHO KEEP HER DOORS OPEN FOR BUSINESS, PS The food isnt worth the aggravation.
Traveling through and stopped to have breakfast. Diner is in a strip mall with plenty of parking even for RV especially in early morning. Place is neat and clean. Staff friendly. Music is fantastic and not so loud to blow your eardrums out! Menu is more than adequate all day long. Food was good; did not disappoint.
By far the best in this part of town. Excellent team behind the scenes and on the front lines! Food is just like it would be at home, only better! If you havent tried it your missing out!
Best skillet Ive ever had. The gravy was fresh. And for the price I was more than satisfied with my portion. I would recommend this to anyone I know.
Excellent food. The waitress was very friendly and courteous. Best small diner in town. Highly recommend.
Had a breaded tenderloin. If you like flat, big tenderloin sandwiches, this is your place. Has the feel of an old 50s joint. Reasonably priced.
Always great food and service. My trio power omelet was packed full of ham, bacon and sausage....delicious!
Omgosh OK, so its a big beefy burger,,so juicy, fries overflowing the basket, all fresh toppings n fresh buns, and under 5 bucks!!! Kinda like a lil Secret treasure place to eat at,
First time visiting, wasnt very welcoming when entering. Sat ourselves at a wobbly booth. Waitress came over and never introduced herself just wanted to know what we wanted. Not a lot of choices for appetizers or smaller entrees. Didnt know if they had any features or soup of the day. She came back and knelt at the table to order which I didnt really care for. Food did come pretty fast which was nice. Small plates for the amount of food on plate. Came to check on us once which was about half way through our meal and never refilled coffee. She seemed to finally lighten up a bit and endded with a thank you.
Always prompt and kind service here. Food is great and the place is super cute. Love the waffle fries!
Good breakfast and great staff. Its one of 3 places in town where several of us can solve the problems of the world without causing client back-ups. And the coffee is hot.
My philly steak sandwich served was a lot of bread and very little meat. Service was about a C, Ive seen worse and Ive seen much better. Two strikes since my last meal there also wasnt anything much to write home to mom about. There are much better options all around the area.
I like the simple 50s vibe in the decor and the food is pure bliss. To me, thus place is the perfect place for an early to late brunch, if by brunch I mean awesome omelets, skillets and pies. Which come to think of it, I do mean that.
I eat breakfast there at least once a month. I have never had a bad breakfast. Waitresses are friendly and the music fits the décor of the restaurant. The home made pies ate great. The banana cream pie is my favorite. When eat lunch there I get their meat loaf. I have used coupons without any problem. Would recommend to anyone.
Unfortunately, this place has really went downhill since it was sold. The food is often over cooked and much slower to arrive. There is also a lot more turnover with the cooks (you can see new faces). Presentation of food just isnt there either. I once loved it here but its becoming a scratch which is so unfortunate for a local business.
Diner food and atmosphere. Breakfast specialist. Normally close at 2 pm but reopen on Fridays for all you can eat fish which is worth the stop.
Very friendly staff, delicious food. You cant go wrong eating here. The strawberry rhubarb pie was delicious!
Good selection, fair prices, fun decor.Food was tasty and prompt.
Food was delicious and wait staff was very friendly.
Been here twice and both times the service and food was very good
Food was typical breakfast fare. Preparation was true to order. Service was very good. Ill definitely be back!
Amazing food, very reasonably priced, great atmosphere. Makes me feel like Im in one of those old diners from the 70s. Never seen any place like it
Good service and good coffee. This place is consistent with good food and good service. I eat there about once a month or so. And the pie is really really good.
Just a darn good diner good food, great people and a fun place to eat. Also a little nostalgia. 50s and 60s theme
Love the diner feel and decor. Fish is excellent. Service is fast and restaurant is clean. Nice place.
The food was great and our waitress was really nice. First time there but we will be back.
I won’t be going back because it’s too expensive and wasn’t that great. Service was the best part. I’ve come here 3 times in the last two years. Enough times to make up my mind.
Great food. Staff is friendly. The fact that this place appreciates veterans is awesome. Clean. Love this place!!!
Great food, great prices. Love their breakfast. Excellent service.
Great local diner for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Large menu, good size portions and the food is excellent. Service is fast.
Great place Food is great they have homemade pie that is Devine. Wait staff are very good.THIS WAS A GREAT PLACE 😞☹️ Not anymore!!! So sad. The pies are no longer homemade! The pancakes are flat an thin. An this Rueben Sandwich was horrible. NEVER HAVE I EATEN HERE WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AN HAD BAD FOOD OR FROZEN PIES! This place is falling fast!!!! 🤮😭
This was absolutely the worst service possible. I order food from here off of door dash and when I called to complain for not only getting the wrong stuff but because there was hair in my food I was told they were too busy and to understaffed to handle it. Then the lady I talked to refused to let me speak to the manager because the “customer isn’t always right”. I only was able to eat my bagel which was partially Soggy because there was hair in my biscuits and gravy. If I could give this place zero stars I would and I hope that the lady who answered the phone gets fired because how horrible and rude she was. I WOULD BOT RECOMMEND THOS HORRIBLE PLACE TO ANYONE !
Food was good, dont know why I dont come here more often.
Pretty much average, but thats okay. It was a decent breakfast for the price.
The service and food was great. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive.
Everything good except breakfast meat is only pork, and coffee is plain and no flavoring is available.
Went there for my birthday breakfast, it was my first time there, and The food was phenomenal👌🏽
Good food, strip mall diner. Prices are consistent with the area. Seems to serve the purpose. 3 Rd time in the area eating.
Not to bad, but not the same as last times. Omelette got WAY SMALLER, VERY LITTLE CHEESE. and the potatoes America fries five slices that were over fried. Toast was hard.
Omg! Best diner ever! First time there and food and service was completely amazing ! Loved the atmosphere and music!! Definitely going back!
Kim is an icon of the city! Shes excellent as well as her co-workers!! Always fun and friendly!
Great place to linger for breakfast. Portions are delicious and generous. Fun atmosphere with friendly staff
We have always had great service and breakfast is delicious.
Best pancake Ive ever had. The omelette and hash browns were very good BUT THAT PANCAKE
The waitress wasnt thst great and would tell us to hold on when we were ordering, and only came to greet us after 15 min of waiting in the restaurant for someone to take our order.
Waited about a half hour for our lunch?! Wasnt even busy. Food was so so. Probly wont go back.
Had their fajita omelette, pancake, and hash browns. Chicken was really tender. Quick service and tasty. Trying to visit local restaurants instead of run of the mill chains.
Ive eaten here a few times. They are always so polite and get the orders out in a timely manner. The food is really good as well.
Nice place. Good food and courteous, attentive staff. A thumbs up.
Just at breakfast. He now was the best at a long time. Great customer service. I really love this.
Went for breakfast, bacon was almost raw, scrambled eggs were flat, and chopped. Really? Scrambled eggs arent that hard to make. Also saw people in the kitchen that had walked in from outside, (friends of staff) but hung out in kitchen wearing coats, hats, too close to cooking. Service staff were very attentive and nice.
Food isn’t horrible but there seems to be a culture of poor service. There are a few nice servers but most of the staff seem annoyed by your very presence. It just makes me sad to see how this place has gone down hill bc it was such a sweet place in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, I think my family is done going here after patronizing this establishment for years.
American fries was overcooked but good. great breakfast
Food just ok, other than that the place was filthy! Floors had food and trash all over, tables unbused everywhere, and crusted food slopped all over the salad (?) Bar. This once shiny sparkling Chrome Diner has become seriously tarnished. It appears that the love has been lost on it. I will probably not go back again.
Scoping out diners Ive never been to in Fort Wayne. Nice little hole in the wall. Props to any place that offers spinach to put in a veggie omlette. Service was great. The only down side was the music system and skipping cd. Almost enough to drive the sainty out of someone.
Moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and tried it out. I now go there at least 3 times a week. Awesome food, friendly staff, and the homemade pies will blow your mind.
Loved the waitress friendly atmosphere and the food was really good too.
Food quality was good along with service. The delivery time from order to arrival seemed a bit slow and could be improved. I would certainly go back.
Good food! Interesting new weekend buffet option.
They dont even deserve 1 star. We waited for over an hour to get our food. The waitress didnt come to our table to refill drinks or apologize for the wait. We didnt get what we ordered and were yelled at by the waitress and manager for asking about our food and then for not getting the correct food. The Owner wouldnt come out to talk to us.
Food is good. Not filling. they do not like to change setup. No large party seating AT ALL.
Friendly staff, seat yourself & breakfast all day. Good food & portions. Kinda pricy on a few things. Cup of fruit (white grapes & pineapple) is four fricken dollars!
Always great food and friendly staff
I went to one of the fish fry dinners a few months ago. Great fish, great size, and worth every penny. Looking forward to going back some time.
I have never had anything outside of breakfast, but I have never been disappointed in the food I have received. Service is hit or miss. Chrome Plated Diner is your typical greasy spoon eatery.
Well, I was not impressed the food was awful! I ordered a fish Dinner which look nothing like the photo on this page. The Fish was over deep fried and looked something like a small football shape from a freezer, it came with mash potatoes and gravy which was the size of a fifty cent piece on my plate and I really wish I had not gotten the brown disgusting gravy, the coleslaw or should I say a pile of mayonnaise in a small dish, just nasty. Everything on my plate was over salted. The meal cost $9.74 something I truly regret paying for.The place was dirty, the floor was covered with everything and no one was cleaning it. Gnats where everywhere flying around my food just sickening.Sorry...but I wont be going back to the Chrome Plate Diner. I had to mark a star to post it but I give it no stars!!!!!I suggest going to Richards there food is so much better, there fishdinner is Excellent and you pay less.
Had a yummy pleasent dinner. Fish!!!! Very nice server. It was also clean.
Chrome Plated Diner is my favorite place to eat in Fort Wayne. The decor thyme is 50s & 60s. Auto parts from that era are on the walls. The theme is set to take you back to a time when life was far simpler than today. But the food is the main attraction there.Breakfast is absolutely wonderfull, my family and I have made it a tradition to have Sunday breakfast there before church every week. I also eat there every chance I get.Lunch is great as well, burgers named after automotive thymes, are a real hoot. With bottled Fanta sodas cold as can be!Friday fish fry has all you can eat option. And on top of all that they give our veterans half off on all food.I say whats not to like about this restaurant?
Service was very prompt. Food came out hot & fresh. Server was very attentive.
They have a1 pound burglar that I have to easy with a fork. Yummy!
We come here often and always have great food and friendly service. The pie is awesome!
Great food busy not enough servers .....overall well worth it
Food was hot and tasty. Enjoyed music.
Good vibes from the decor to the service. I felt welcome and the food was perfect!
The service was great along with my chicken wrap
So glad to be back in Fort Wayne so I can enjoy one of my all-time favorite diners!
The wait staff was terrible!! The waitress brought wrong food to me which took forever. Others ordered all you can eat fish... But we only ate one plate... Because she never brought the fish out til we werent hungry anymore. To top it off the cashier (who later told us was the owner was VERY RUDE about how HER waitress wrote up the bill. Then blamed us! This was out first and LAST visit! Food was ok....
Good food. Reasonable price.
Good food and nice waitress
Good food, good service. I like to frequent locally owned businesses.
Brought out orders staggered so entire table not served at once. All done eating when they brought the 2 year Olds food out and didnt even discount anything. Rushed u s after that. Said they were closing early although not told when we arrived and even asked. Arrived at 1230 in the afternoon. Never got refills or offered a high chair.
