A long established small engine repair company with fair pricing and great expertise.
I was very impressed with the level of service we received from MAG Small Engine repair. Not only did they exceed our expectations in the amount of time it would take to receive our mower back, but they were able to accept our mower the same day we called! I would highly recommend this family owned business.
Id had decent experience with Mag in the past so I took a mower to them. It already worked but had debris under the blade and was full of grass underneath and stuffed in the bag area. I was charged120 dollars to check it out and be sure nothing else was wrong and to clean it off.. When I went to get it, it looked like the only thing they did was change the blade and remove the debris underneath it. If They didnt bother to clean the machine off to see if there might be other issues, how do I know they even bothered to check it out?. It was as full of grass as it was before. The back wheels are all skewed too. I had ask them to clean the mower off before I could take it home. Im feeling ripped off.
Great customer service and professional advise on lawn equipment wouldn’t use anyone else.
Best small engine place in the valley. Honest friendly people who know their stuff. Theyve taught me a lot over the years. I wont go anywhere else.
As always very helpful and courteous, always able to find take hard to find part
I love this place very friendly and amazing service. The show floor is also a museum of antique small engines.
Theyve got parts and pieces that I certainly thought were unavailable for older chainsaws. Great bunch of people!
Honest, generous and fast. Started taking my small engine ranch equipment here this spring. Great experience. Thanks for all your help today Jeremy. Excellent guidance on my chainsaw and what I should look out for in a commercial mower.
I love these guys finally a true to there word mechanic and did not over charge me thank I will give you all my business!!
The ONLY place to go for lawnmower/lawn equipment repair. My advice, get your lawn equipment in early for your yearly service if you want to have your stuff back in time for your weekly mowings! In the spring the wait can be up to 10 days! Obviously worth the wait. Also, if you need parts always have your model and serial number of your machine AND your engine. The more info you have. The better they can help!
Great greeting. Seemed happy to have my business.
Treated like a complete liar in front of all his customers in the lobby. Will NEVER take any of my small engines there again.
Excellent people I will always recommend them live that place!
I bought a lawnmower from them and it was a good deal. They now have my chainsaw for repairs. So far so good.
Well, I called in and gave a part number and asked if they had it. They said yes. The part is a front left adjuster for the wheel of a Honda hrx 217 vka something. Anyway, point is, they said they had the part (and they were given the part number). I show up after a long drive and they take me outside to an old beat up Honda hrx mower of a different year and model. It had a different part with a different part number for the front adjuster. I told the man that it wasn’t the same part that was on my mower and how they need to be more responsible and make sure they actually have the part I need before they tell me they do. He then proceeded to ask me “oh, so you think you know more about lawn mowers? I’ve been doing this for 20 years and have never had a problem and I know how young guys like you are, you don’t know nothing about lawn mowers and repairs.” He pretty much said he didn’t care about my opinion then walked away. So I went home and will never be back. Also, the old lady at the front desk was like what I would call a disapproving grandmother. She acted like my grandma when she’s disappointed in me. She didn’t say hello, just said “what are you here for”. She didn’t look at me the whole time I was talking to her, and just an overall cranky lady. Can’t say enough bad stuff about the kind of people that work at this place. Maybe they can repair a mower, but they sure don’t know how to interact with people.
Had Mag Small Engine Repair pick up my 82 year old Mother-In-Laws riding mower to repair starting problems and give it a long overdue tune up. She has a huge yard and the mower is her main mode of transportation and yard work (with kids and grandkids). They had bad news. The mower needed some major repairs. They discounted the costs and put Grandma back on her old trusty mower that Grandpa fixed when he was alive. Good people!
Love these guys, theyve been taking care of 100% of my equipment needs for my one man lawn and yard care business for the last 15 years. As a commercial client they go out of their way to keep me running, be it a one day turn around or a loaner. RedMax equipment has proven to be incredibly durable. Good people, they know the mowing biz like no other. Thank you MAG
Great people to work with...they explain things and are very knowledgeable! Thanks!
Mantis tiller needed repair/tune up. Quoted $100.00. When done, needed less repair/tune up than estimated for a final bill of $50.00. You dont get a bill less than estimates these days. Very HONEST business. I will HIGHLY recommend them !
I thought the service was great! Lawn mower was not starting and frankly filthy when i dropped it off. Picked up 2 days later and it worked great and was cleaned up. Fair price, great experience.
Great place for small engine repair. Quick and efficient. Snow blower experts.
Very disappointing experience. Communication at Mag Small Engine was problematic. Problem resolution was dysfunctional and, in my subjective experience, rude. For more details, read on...This week I asked for, and received, a quote on a riding mower; I agreed to the price on the mower and I paid for the order, including tax and freight. When mower arrived today I was told sorry, but you owe $500+ more. Disappointed on many levels, I decided I could not not afford the mower at that price and requested the charges be refunded. I was next told there was a 25% restocking fee! So rich with irony - if I back out of my agreement to buy a product paid for, then I lose 25% of order cost. But, if they take my money and cannot provide the product at the agreed price, then sorry, but you owe more. Unfortunately they did not comprehend the lopsidedness of this policy... I let the staff and owner it was ludicrous to charge a restocking fee for their mistake and I finally got them to agree refund all my money. I never did get a viable explanation for the misquote nor any sense of owning up or apologizing for the mistake and frustration it caused. In fact, when I tried to correct and clarify miss-stated facts about the order, the staff spoke to me as if I was rude and unreasonable.
Hi Im a handyman, I have been using mag since the mid 90s they have always done wright by me, snowblowers to lawnmowers I dont care they would fix it, sometimes over the quoted estimate, you know you just dont know until you tare into something. I can tell you these people are honest people give them a call .
The parts lady was very polite and professional. She took the time to make sure the part I needed for my mower was correct. I felt like she appreciated my business even though I wasnt buying hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
Good customer service. Helped me solve my problem even though it wasn’t because of the part I bought from them.
Awesome folks 👍
When youve been running a business for so long you dont care about customer service... you get MAG. The lady upfront is so rude, Im surprised anyone would want to do business with them. The younger folks there are great, and really want to help you. If you walk in on the unfortunate day that the (Im guessing here) owners wife is working the front desk, be expecting to be treated like an idiot. Another time I was there, a guy that had been there for too long treated me like an idiot. Im very sorry that I dont know the intricacies of small engines. That does not give you the right to treat me like an idiot. The younger technicians there great... the older people there are the typical a-holes you would expect from a strip mall hobby shop who like to show how smart they are. Its really sad that they havent found happiness in there lives. ugh... I will never do business there until the younger people that actually care take over.
Stood by their warranty, helpful and good for information.
Very knowledgeable. Went in when my saw took a dump, they checked the spark and the compression on the bench in the lobby to see how worn out it was. They checked it in and had it back to me in a few days running great! I also brought in a few extra chains and they sharpened them while i waited. I am very impressed with their willingness to take care of me so quick. They did say that coming in in the slow season makes turnarounds much easier. I will be going back to these people again.
Helpful small business with a knack for getting small engine stuff fixed or sold to you.
I went in to get a chain saw blade sharpened and person helping me suggested a new blade. When I asked how to install it, he started to explain the process and then proceeded to change it out for me without charge for the shop time. It was not expected and greatly appreciated. Ill be back as this is how you earn customers.
Helpful, friendly, fair in their pricing and great customer service.
There is a trend here. Dropped off chainsaw to be serviced - told 1week or 7 days. Called 7 seven days later, told they would call back with update. Waited 2 more days and stopped into the place before noon. As I walked up 2 employees are sitting on the riding mowers having a smoke break and discussing world peace. I then dealt with a older woman who immediately got defensive and told me that 1. They only had 1 guy working on 2 cycle engines 2. I should have informed them that I needed it sooner 3 She would go and get my chainsaw moved up and would call me later that day to pick it up. Guess what? I didn’t get that phone call. So I waited until 4:00 pm the next day to call. I was told that my chainsaw had not been looked at yet. I informed them that I would be down to pick it up. I live 5 minutes away, when I arrived to pick up the chainsaw, I was shown ticket that said the chainsaw’s carburetor needed to be rebuilt at a cost of $250-350 dollars and the chainsaw wasn’t worth the expense. I then decided to run the chainsaw to a friend of mine who works on small engines on the side.Within 10 minutes he had the chainsaw running and in his opinion there was nothing wrong with the carburetor. How does this business get a triple A rating from the better business bureau? To many customer reviews have had the same experiences. I would/will avoid this business and not recommend to anyone.
Brought a chain saw in to have it checked out. Immediately the lady at the counter said the compression will need to be tested (which I totally agree) and had me put it on service counter to the left. Not five minutes later, Mike, the owner came out and tested the compression for me (it was good). I explained the steps that I had taken so far in getting to run. As it was a 20 year old chain saw, Mike recommended that I buy a carb kit because the diaphram gets old and brittle as well as screens, etc can get plugged. Mike explained in extreme detail how to rebuild and set the carb (I am an engineer and this is not over my head or ability). Also bought some new fuel line and spark plug boot. All parts were less than $20. Thanks again Mike! Great service and I will be back in the future!
Be warned!!!!! Just a fun update around the my place of business we have a running joke about someone we call prison Mike. He is the mechanic this review is aboutStay away from mag small engine. The service isTerrible. I believe the owner of (mag small engine) can think an employee named MIKE for this. His customer service includes but is not limited to such gems as f@#$ you. And I can be f@#$ing ruder than you a real in you face type of service. This company both insulted me and waisted my time and money. I hope mike and mag all the bad available. Way to throw away business mike.
Ive been here twice, and so far my experience was good. Great customer service as well.
Took my poor working filthy looking mower to them for repair. I tried to fix myself but no joy. They really know their craft. Not only did they fix it rock solid so starts & runs like new, it came back all cleaned up too!! Runs & works like new & they didnt charge for the cleaning...only parts & repair time.
They were great! Gentlemen took a look at my saw last night, took it in back and had it back to me in minutes running fine. Turns out I had some bad gas. Didnt even charge me. Everyone was friendly and professional. If I have any more saw troubles, Ill be back.
Best place for parts and repairs of everything small engine. You can also buy good refurbished used equipment.
I had a great experience here. They were polite, professional, and able to do the service i needed. Ill be back next time I need my mower serviced.
I paid $250 dollars, after being quoted less, to get my Ariens mower fixed at MAG. I left it there in late February and got it back early April. I was told by the elderly woman who works up front that it would be anywhere from $95 to $135 to fix the problem (first sentence of review should give you a heads up) and would be 2 weeks until pick-up. I HAD TO CALL THEM UP 3 WEEKS LATER to find out what was up with my small engine. Not only did the price go up almost double, but they had to order a special part to fix this small engine which is no longer made. That one part mustve been in high demand -lemme tell ya.Today is 8/6/17. my lawn mower died again the same way it did before I took it to MAG last February. Since 9:30 am this morning I have cleaned the carburetor (I dont use gas with ethanol and they said they cleaned it), changed the spark plug (they also did that), added new 4-cycle SAE 30 oil, and changed the air filter (which they said they did, and THEY DIDNT). Not to mention, there was an oil leak that needed special attention -including said special part.; the actual reason they needed to keep the small engine even longer (with no phone call on their part to give me a heads up). That same oil leak is happening again 4 months later with the installed special part.Next time Ill maker sure to take my mower to someone who gives a damn.Oh yeah, and like others on this review panel, I was also told, by the same lady, to just go out and buy a new mower. Apparently, I wasnt worth their time from the get go. Dont be surprised if you arent either. My only fault is that I shouldve read these reviews prior to taking my mower to MAG.
Great service. A little more expensive than I had anticipated but was worth the price.
I have been recommending Mags for years and dealt with them a lot when in the lawn and landscape business. Recently I took my Shindawa trimmer in for a carb rebuild. They told me I should do the full service (carb and engine) so I agreed to that. After waiting in line for 15 minutes the guy that helped me said he wanted to do a compression check while I was there. He then told me it did not have enough compression so they couldn’t help me. I was shocked because I knew this was a great machine (the older model before they started snuffing everything down) and it has only been moderately used over all these years. I was so bummed that they wouldn’t just rebuild the carb. First off, I love this trimmer and could never replace it with anything near as good and secondly I really wanted to support this local shop (because that’s what I do) and not deal with the repairs myself. They insisted it was done and couldn’t be saved though. I asked if they could get parts and he said no. So I left all bummed out and told my husband what they said. Then we fixed it. We just ordered a new carb online and installed it and it is good as new! I gave them three stars only because I want to believe that they are a good shop. However, I am severely disappointed in them now and doubt I will refer them again.
Very knowledgeable. They fixed up my almost snapped pull start on my Snapper
JEREMY worked me in for repairs on two riding lawn mowers after giving me a quick estimate for both. He promised one would be done by next week.
Great customer service.
Was sold an brand new, off-brand, zero-turn mower (for a premium price) just over a year ago and the thing is basically a piece of junk. The experts at Mag Small Engine couldnt (or wouldnt) fix it and to this day Im still struggling with a $4000.00 lawnmower that produces the worst cut of any lawnmower Ive ever owned. On top of that, the owner of Mag Small Engine is rude and, if my experience is any indication, incompetent. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Mag Small Engine at all costs.
Verf friendly staff and certainly knowkedgeable. They cleaned a plugged carbureator on my snow blower and it works fine. Price was reasonable and quick service.
I have been drug in here countless times. Eventhough im no mecanic staff is friendly fast and no hassle. I love that theyre so friendly.
I had a warrany issue on Saturday July 1 with my Scag. MAG picked up my mower and left an equivalent loaner so I could have a nicely cut lawn for our 4th of July picnic.Exceptional service.
Amazing customer service great prices will use them again
Same story, had mine forever, called up and said it wasnt worth fixing, charged me tell me that, and then had to go find it cause they werent even going to return it to me. Took it Home Depot repair at their rental desk on Milwaukee, fixed it in 10 minutes and runs like a champ and the tech said should last another 5 years no problem.
Good people and honest mechanics.
Great service, like what you would hope for and expect at a locally owned business.
Took an old trimmer in to be serviced and tuned up, customer service was awful and lady at the desk was very rude. Told within 5 mins to buy a new trimmer and that it would cost more to tune than buy new, trimmer currently runs and all i needed was a small tune and filter change.
Superior service without being pushy!! Experts on all types of mowers!! They make sure you get the right parts!!! The first time!!!Thanx
Placed a part order on a Saturday. Seven days later still no part. In fact they wouldnt even check their recent parts shipment to see if it was in. They were too busy. Went through Saturday and Monday (now 10 days). Called and they said they were still too busy to even go look to see if my part had arrived or not.I wont do business there again, and I will contact my mower manufacturer and get suggestions for an alternate repair facilility.
They know and fix small engines amazingly well.
Although I need a company to pick up and deliver, spending $150+/- for a mower to sound almost as bad as when I had it taken in is not my idea of quality service. I also didnt appreciate the immediate call for payment on a credit card when I was going to pay cash so I wouldnt have a credit card bill. They must have been desperate for holiday money reimbursement.
Customer service is HORRIBLE! If I could give zero stars I would.
Hey always good service....
The worst customer service experience I have had in the USA. What ever you are looking for here, you can find cheaper on ebay as well as a pleasant shopping experience. Two thumbs down.
Great product knowledge, expert repairs and service.
These people are the rudest I’ve ever encountered. Never ever have I been treated like such a second class citizen!!! Left my weed wackier there today and plan on getting it back ASAP. Decided I’d rather chew the grass myself then give these morons my business. Too bad too, I could have given them a lot of business.
Got mower back and it will not run. Now I have to go back ....
Great prices, great people!
Called them for a carburetor kit, they said they had it. I drive all the way across town to get it and they dont have it or any of the parts at all. Absolutely terrible service.
Horrible service. My lawn mower started blowing smoke after I picked it up from being serviced. Someone forgot to put oil back in it. Had to buy a new one.
Poor communication, unable to meet projected deadlines and horrible customer service. Avoid at all costs.
Knowledgable
Worst place ever people were rude and the work was terrible will never go back there again for anything and I tell everyone about the bad service we received
Very knowledgeable but rude sometimes
Bad service. I will never go back.
