Awesome place for game gatherings and activities to keep your mind entertaining. Staff was amazing and friendly and always give there valuable tips and opinions to help their customers figure out what they seek for.

Been a while since Ive played games like some of those it has come a very long way since I used to play the table top and card games. Very nice place, very clean and organized and excellent employees they where willing to explain or show some of the games and the people there to play where very understanding and willing to teach. I will definitely be going back many more times

My first time stopping here will not be my last. There was so much to look at. Old games, new games, art projects, game pieces, miniatures, pretty cool dice sets AND all the things I forgot to mention! There are quite a few tables set up for gaming. They were pretty popular but had room for more people (I believe there is a small charge for camping out at the tables). We were told that there is an entire wall of games that you can try before you buy! ALL of the workers are very friendly and quite knowledgeable about what they have there. If you need a cool games or just additions to existing games, go to Board Game Barrister!

Large amount of games, can find most anything you want. Also you can game there. They have a lot of space and regular gaming. Also they are always ready to help you. Be sure to read the return policy well, there are a lot of details if you do need to make a return for some reason.

This is a locally-owned business that is way more fun than youd ever think. Besides the old classics like puzzles or cards, this place has all the latest and greatest in tabletop gaming. Friday Night Magic card tournaments, helpful staff, everything D&D, etc etc - and a big open gaming area where you can try a wide array of already opened games. The Layton Ave location is especially spacious for play and events.

We really enjoyed our time at the game store. They have open gaming on Thursday nights. Pretty awesome. Hundreds of games to play. And refreshments for sale. On most nights you can rent a table for a nominal fee. They also have a VIP card reward system. If you purchase games you can earn rewards to use toward game table rentals or discount on future purchases. It is nice to be able to play a game see its worth buying.

Excellent board game store. They have a large stock of excellent games, as well as very knowledgeable staff who can help you with finding a game you might like. They are helpful and kind. Keep an eye out for events on their calendar on the website, as from time to time they hold free gaming events that show off several great games. They also run D&D games on Wednesday, every other Thursday, and Saturday. All the DMs Ive met are wonderful people and will help you with getting started, as well as help craft fun and exciting stories.

Solid selection of games, awesome consignment shelf, plenty of gaming space and friendly service.My only complaint is that they have a very persistent sales approach. Borderline pushy.

Large selection and very knowledgeable staff. Slightly higher prices are made up for by the discount selection, the ability to play games there, and the general atmosphere of an actual game store. Would recommend, hands down.

Theyve gotten...better? I think? Its hard to say.It used to be that at this location (and others) the staff had a really bad attitude. It vacillated between indifference and superiority...at sometimes open disdain.I had gone into this location once to find a D&D book, and was literally laughed at with a, you still play that game? So I turned around and walked out.Yes, I know theyre focused more on board game, and they have a tremendous selection, but to be treated like that as a customer...yeah, back to Amazon I go.Over the holidays we went back to look for a few things, and the staff was somewhat better, but somewhat weak on product knowledge. I mean, one of the reasons Ill go to a specialty store is to get a more informed experience. Could be they were new hires for the holidays, could be they just didnt know (or care)...either way...kinda odd.But yes, a tremendous selection of board and card games.

I absolutely love BGB! They have an extremely knowledgeable staff that are always friendly. They give great recommendations, they are slightly higher in price BUT you get so much more from them. You can try before you buy, they can teach you how to play and navigate unfamiliar or complex games and most importantly you are supporting a local business! Summer camps are awesome and HIGHLY recommended although they need more selection/longer sessions for working families and the ability to choose location besides Mayfair. Never disappointed, hope the business thrives and grows as it is definitely an asset to the community.

This place is just great. Amazing selection of games and the woman that helped me was fantastic. All I had to do was give her an example of games I liked and she offered a few great suggestions. Well done!

A great gaming store with excellent staff. Every one of the Barristers is personally interested in at least some of the games sold there and in the community at large. Barristers are funny, friendly, helpful and care about fostering a great environment for card players and tabletop gamers among others. Highly recommend.

Everyone working in this store greeted us either when we came in or as we were wandering around. They each offered assistance, which we declined since we were just looking. When we did have a question, we were assisted immediately. The item we were looking for was sold out in this location and they offered to have it brought over from another location. They were all extremely polite and friendly. Much appreciated!

Every employee was super helpful and knowledgeable of most games. They took their time and were super patient every time Ive visited, even if I never ended up buying anything or something super simple. I highly recommend going if youre a board or card gaming fan, they have you covered and will nerd out with you about most stuff.

Less then exciting, went looking for a particular ravensburger jigsaw puzzle, left with nothing.Help looks friendly enough, but only acknowledges from a distance. Then when you go to them the catch phrase is we only sell whats in stock.I could be a great customer of theirs, I like the openness, but not the stuffiness of the help.What makes this so interesting is that their run down store in So. Mke, actually says they are willing to order anything by ravensburger as long as it is current.So what gives?Same company, different location, different rules?Is it is because it bright and airy and draws more traffic that they dont need to try as hard to earn a customer?

I stopped going here a while ago, and more and more I am seeing that it was a good decision.The store is beautiful, the staff are great and friendly, but the owner makes that all moot.My personal issue with him aside; he underpays his employees, treats them like they are less than worthless, and openly dresses them down for issues outside of their control.I will not be returning to the store ever again or any of his other businesses like Oak and Shield Pub until, hopefully, he sells to someone who is more cut out for business ownership.

Ive worked in game stores before...and this is by far one of the best. Clean, friendly, staff .Justin is a great staff member. I have to drive a bit for this place, but it is awesome! It even had the Critical Role Campaign setting!

Of the larger shops in the area, I am most satisfied with the knowledge of board games from this company and the quality of their devoted play space.Its tough to compete in the hobby industry on price, and Board Game Barrister successfully adds value through serving their loyal customers with repeat customer incentives, rewards, and friendly & helpful employees.

This is an excellent place that always makes you feel welcome. It tends to be pretty busy most of the time, but as long as youre willing to wait your turn youll find friendly staff and a wide selection. Well they dont have in stock they will order, and I have many many games for you to try out, often free of charge.

Bias against card games but claims they are about that life just magic all they like if ur a magic player ur good go there but for the venue they have what a waste tbh local card shops would for that spot tbh i dont support this cause they choose not to support other card games but magic press f in the chat

This is what you want in a local game shop. Great staff, great selection, huge area to play games, lots of events... It just goes on and on. Theyre knowledgeable about the games they sell, and rather than lying about a game they dont know, they find a staff member who has played it.This is what you get in contrast to shopping online. Online might save a couple bucks, but all you get there are 2 sentence reviews and a half paragraph description of the game. Additionally, this place provides a space to play games with like minded people who also enjoy the mental workout. There are many store copies of games they sell, offering you a chance to try it before dropping the money on something you or your friends may not like, and therefore never play again.

The Board Game Barrister is a fantastic place for board games and other similar hobbies. You can get traditional board games perfect for young kids, more complicated and nerdy ones for teenagers and adults, and tons of accessories for trading card games, tabletop role playing games, and miniature painting. The store also hosts lots of game nights and events where you can learn new games or play your favorites with new people. If you have any interest in board games, RPGs, or the like, Board Game Barrister is a must visit.

The people are seriously the best; theyre welcoming to new players and seem to genuinely care about helping people who are curious about games. A wide variety of great games for all ages and skill levels. We enter with no clue of what to buy, but usually leave with a new game in tow. The friendly staff is always available for questions and suggestions on the type of game you are looking for.

They got games. A very very large selection of all kinds of games. When I was there they had A game going on. I will definitely come back because they even have a large selection of Legos. I could browse here for an hour. I would be surprised if they didnt have the game you were searching for.

This is a great game store. They have many of the games already open and the staff will play the game with you, so you can try it before you buy it. They have a huge selection and variety from family games to games for serious gamers.

My 4 kids & I visited the store, payed a small fee for open play, and had a great time learning several new games over the course of 2.5 hours. Lots of friendly faces. This is such a great places for games. Whether you are looking for the classics like Monopoly or looking for something a little more unique like Dixit, this is the place for you. Also has puzzles and gaming spaces for D&D and other games. Along with a great selection, the facility is clean and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Pros: The store has a great selection of games and the staff are generally knowledgeable about those games.Cons: The staff lack common sense for handling customer issues (or they lack the tools). They almost seem indifferent to problems they cause for the customer. Given the prices of the games at this store, I would expect any customer-facing interaction to be positive.Issue: Pretty much every time I walk into this store I buy one to two new games and look for a used game I might like. Until my last visit I didnt have an issue with any of the purchased used games. This time, however, after inventory was taken I discovered over half of the game pieces were missing. The condition slip said all pieces were accounted for (this was obviously a lie). This was really inconvenient for me because I needed to drive 20 minutes to get to this store in order to return the game within the 3-day return period. Upon returning it the staff didnt seem to care and just said the VIP members self evaluate the condition of the used games they sell. What kind of BS is that? You shrink wrap this game, include a condition report, and slap a barcode on it, yet you dont actually confirm the condition? Furthermore, you dont warn your customers that you have no quality control for these used games? Do yourself and your customers a favor and tell them to inventory used games before they leave your store. Also, dont include the BS condition report.Edit: Upon reply from the owner, it is clear he doesnt understand how to deal with customer concerns. You want me to try other shops to get the experience I expect? No problem, Im an Amazon prime member. Theyre cheaper than you, they deliver for free, and have never downplayed legitimate concerns of mine.*Review revised to two stars

We always enjoy a trip to Board Game Barrister. Not only do they always have the games we love, but theres always great recommendations for new games for us. The employees are great about answering any questions we have about gameplay, rules, recommendations, etc. Always a great experience.

My fiancé and I came in to find a board game, after a brief Q&A to assess our interests, the gentlemen recommended Hive. Well give it a shot tonight. He did speak to us about other games with such enthusiasm and knowledge that we will DEFINITELY return. I dont remember his name but he looks like Q from impractical jokers.

Ive been going to BGB for like two years now, and its by far the cleanest, most friendly game store I have ever seen. Even the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Best place to go for buying AND playing games.

Clean store. Dont always have product available, but will order it for you. Great sense of community. Everybodys friendly even if you are a little buggar. Good snack selection. Necessary b/c you cant bring them in from outside. Entry fee to tournaments is very cheap. Figure painting seems cool, but havent had time to try yet. Cool that they offer it at least.

Very friendly atmosphere. One of the managers there (I believe her name is Louisa) is the nicest lady around. The employees here are all very friendly and acknowledgeable on majority of the games provided in this store.

Friday night Magic is great for beginners and intermediate players. Judges and players are very helpful. The playing space is clean, organized and roomy. Strongly recommend it to any Magic players.

Ive been to a number of games store both here in Milwaukee and in the Chicagoland area. Boardgame Barrister has a great selection and knowledgeable staff. Im usually the sort that comes in for a particular reason and then likes to wander around the store looking at other games at the same time. The staff are always courteous and ask if I need any assistance. The store is well organized and well stocked, the staff are excellent.Theres a large play area with events, I havent been able to go to one just yet but they seem well attended when Ive stopped in. I have been meaning to go to one of their mini painting classes but timing hasnt worked out. I do wish theyd have a slightly bigger miniatures display, most are on a turn table so it can take some time to find what youd like. Thats a generally minor issue.Lastly, with any brick and mortar game store it will cost a little more for the same games than youd find online (a certain river themed shopping site comes to mind). Im fine with that because youre paying to support your hobby and a local business. Additionally, youre helping to foster a place where people can game together and learn about games together.

Staff was amazingly knowledgeable about seemingly all the games, and very helpful and friendly. We paid more for codenames than we would have on Amazon, but its worth it to support a local merchant. I wish we lived in Milwaukee so we could visit more frequently!

I came here to play some board games with one of my friends, and we found that everything was exceeding expectations. The staff was very kind and helpful, there were so many great games to choose from, and we could have stayed there for a couple more hours.

Great place to buy some CCGs. Plenty of room for games among their many tables under a well lit area. Too bad we were only staying for the night in the area or we would have joined a Magic the Gathering FNM or an open boardgame or two.

I got here for almost all my board games. Inventory refreshes often so there is always something new. Bit pricey but the staff is knowledgeable.
