Heard great things so cycled from Hackney to eat. Knew the kitchen closed at 3 and arrived with plenty of time before this, a waitress knew we were waiting to eat, so we were pretty disappointed when she walked past us a bunch of times before us having to flag her down when she told us that the kitchen was closed. Pretty basic stuff. Communication is key. If you offer people a menu you should let them know that by the time you come to take an order from them, they won’t be able to order from it.

This has become my go-to place if I want to get out of the house for an hour or two to do some reading. The garden space out the back is airy and lush, and it seems to always be about 80% full, so its perfect for feeling like youre out among a crowd, but not too packed in. (Although maybe Ive just been lucky with timing!) The staff are super-friendly and chilled out, and their pastries are delicious!

This is my local-ish place. Not local enough to get down for a coffee while still wearing my pyjamas, but close enough to think about the reward destination after getting some steps in.Peas on toast actually blew my mind and that comes from a person who was stuffing her face with avocado almost for every meal at certain points of her life, so this is a serious praise.Delicious.Be careful though with their sandwiches - they are so good it will spoil any other sandwich youll have in your life after having these ones.Always nice staff and I cant wait until I find a house next to Common Ground and spend all of my wages there.

Very nicely decorated with lovely ambiance and back garden style area. On arrival were told kitchen is closed, no problem we came for coffee and sandwiches/cake. Were told by the gentleman server its table service so we went out to the garden area and sat down. Maybe half the tables were occupied. 4 different servers ignored us whilst clearing tables etc. Even the gentleman who gave us info made brief eye contact with me at one point but still didnt come over to serve us.After 10-15 mins we left. One the way out saw 2 servers standing inside chatting with each other and as we walked past the gentleman server I asked to clarify ut was table service to which he said yes. I explained no one came to serve us during the time we sat there. He apologies and we left. Ive worked in an incredibly busy cafe/deli and as a server at a restaurant so perhaps I expect high standards, but I dont see how 4 different servers can ignore guests at a table which obviously has nothing on it. Sadly will not go back to try again despite otherwise high ratings.

If it’s sunny and you’re in the area of Finsbury Park then a great place to grab a specialty coffee :)Staff was friendly. I understand that they must have opened recently so there were 2 men walking around the garden tables asking and checking if everything was okay a bit too often. Also giving less stars cause the food is a tad too expensive. Cakes at the front seemed okay priced but not the brunch menu. Lastly the large Americano wasn’t served in a very large cup which means it was a bit too strong and bitter.I think the shop will go very well and on sunny weekends it’s a great place to go.If you’re a freelancer - then this is a great new spot to work from I think. And for Finsbury Park area there are not many specialty coffee places with much sitting space, so the garden is a bonus for Common Ground Cafe :) Hope the weather keeps sunny for them and for more people to visit.

Ok coffee but the bearded male barista seems very bored with his job and has a passive aggressive attitude. Been here twice/three times now but it never changes. Today when I asked for a fork for dessert, I was told to sit down like a 5 year old but was never handed one. I’ve witnessed him treating non-coloured customers with much respect several times. I got the unwelcoming vibe off him from start till end. This will be my last visit.

I really like the coffee, and most of the staff are really lovely, but I found (whom I assume to be) the owner a little bit difficult. She wouldnt let us close the door on a cold November day, and when we tried to move to a warmer seat, we were told we couldnt sit there because we had laptops. The rest of the staff are super lovely, but it seems the customer isnt always right (even on a cold November day).

Great coffee and nice breakfast foods. The garden area is fantastic, and perfect for the warmer months. My only issue is that you arent allowed to use laptops or ipads on weekends. I appreciate the idea, but it means youll have to go somewhere else if you had hopes of having a coffee and getting some work done. Perhaps a separate laptop area would work better, so people arent getting in the way by spreading out too much.

If youd like your coffee served with a side of pretentiousness then this is the place for you. Id like to walk in to an establishment where im about to spend some money and be acknowledged at least. But at Common Ground the staff make you feel like more of a burden than a paying customer.Ive been in here a few times and overheard staff slagging each other off, been turned away because they cant keep up with coffee making demands and been told my sandwich cant be warmed up... theres always something to be difficult about it would seem.Other than that the food and coffee are really really good plus beautiful decor, if they can sort their customer service out theyd be a more inviting place to visit, I try to avoid going here too often as Im always confused afterwards.

Lovely new cafe just a few minutes from Finsbury Park station. We visited on a warm Sunday lunchtime, and sat in the sunshine in the outdoors seating area. It was great to see a new establishment so busy and lively, and the staff were courteous and took our order with smiles and geniality. Coffee is high end. My partner and I recently visited for brunch. On arrival we waited to speak to staff and were ignored, before taking a seat at a table vacated by another customer. The table was not cleared by staff for another 10 mins and was not wiped until we asked. We were eventually informed that the place was too busy to take any orders for at least 30mins. We were happy to wait and read a newspaper, sitting diagonally at a small table with 3 chairs. After about 45 mins we noticed orders were being taken and ordered. Food and coffee arrived promptly, and was good. We thought it was back on track.Once finished we had intended to order something else. However we were asked if we could accommodate another couple at our table- requiring us to reposition all the chairs and stop us from being able to read the paper. We gave up and left.I understand it was a busy Sunday service, but when you serve brunch on a Sunday having space to relax and enjoy the food is literally the whole point of the service. Inept, rude staff and chaotic service isn’t really acceptable.Having worked in hospitality myself it’s not rocket science to get this right. Disappointing from start to finish.
