We totally enjoyed our trip to Mark Twain Cave and Campground. The Mark Twain cave tour was exceptional. We selected our campsite to face the beautiful bluffs.....great view! And the trail hiking was superb with the notation of many of the trees along the trail. What a fun trip. We need to go back, as we didnt schedule enough time to see it all. Friendly, helpful staff, also.

Recently my family and I stayed at the Mark Twain Cave and Campground. I really didn’t have any idea what to expect and knew nothing about it, but my family decided it would be a good place to meet cause it was centrally located for us in the country. I am so happy with the experience that we had. The facilities, bathrooms, and Campgrounds were clean. The campsites were well maintained and have very large fire pits which were perfect for cooking our dinner on one night. They were also movable which made it easier to set up the campsite the way we liked. The Mark Twain Cave itself was something else. Not just the actual size and natural beauty of it, but all the history that went along with it as well. Lastly, the Campground staff, employees, and owners we’re incredibly welcoming, friendly, and happy to help. Big appreciation for the owners for helping make our experience so great. The Campground has a winery, a sandwich shop, a hiking trail, 2 explorable caves with tours (which are affordable given the history behind them), large campsites, WiFi, sell ice and wood in their gift shop, and are close enough to town that we could actually have pizza delivered one night. I highly recommend this Campground and look forward to going back with my family.

What a great little gem of a place. We stayed here for the first time and it’s a great place. Full hook up sites are good not to tight but each one has a little yard that has plenty of room to relax. Cave and campground were very fun. We LOVED exploring the cave, and sluicing for gems in the running water. The campground was clean and quiet. There was dry creekbed next to the campground my kids loved to explore as well. There is a nice trail (but not for the feint of heart, its a steep incline). The only complaint I have is the shower house was not the cleanest, and the water temperature varied drastically throughout the showers - freezing one minute scalding the next. But overall it was a great experience and we will be back!

We went on an hour long tour of the Mark Twain Cave. It started with a brief movie on the history of the cave. Then we entered the year round 52 degree cave for our less than a mile walk through the cave. It was really impressive that it was ground entry, no stairs to climb! We got to see Samuel Clements signature along the way and Jesse James signed the cave in pencil, although they dont take you back to see it, a photo of it is available to see. The tour guide turned all the lights off at one point which was definitely black! It was a nice cool break on a hot summer day.

Were there for the Trunk or Treat Oct. 23. Spent 2 nights cuz considered a holiday weekend. About 200 kids. Singer at the Winery patio. Coupon for free wine glass with purchase of bottle. Amazing amount of rain during the night, but gravel pads not muddy. Had to go to office/gift shop to get good wifi coverage. Staff offered benches for comfort and loaned a hole punch for craft project. Because of all other activities, shopping and going through Mark Twain Home/Museum in town we didnt have time for cave.

Nice park. Our site was large but the gravel part was too small for our 34’ RV and truck to both be on gravel. Had to park on grass against the rules – after very heavy rain my 4-wheel drive became stuck in mud ;-( the staff was nice about it.Verizon cell service was non-existent so we really needed Wi-Fi but the Wi-Fi was broken- they repaired after 24 hrs but then only 1.8MBps even though the park was mostly empty.Cave tour was very cool and the winery was worth a visit.Watch out for a very sharp turn off the highway to go into the park

Excellent experience for the whole family. Our tour guide for the Mark Twain cave was Logan and he was able to provide an educational experience without letting it get boring. Our tour guide for the Cameron cave was Peter, and he was very kind, helpful, and informative. I personally enjoyed the Cameron cave more than the Mark Twain cave. The tour of the Cameron cave was longer and we had to use flashlights to get around because there is no electricity, unlike the Mark Twain cave. Fun fact: Jesse James used to hide out in the Mark Twain cave...so if you find that interesting Id highly recomend checking that out.

This campground sounds great. To be certain, it is good. We were in the back of the campground and the WiFi there was weak at best. We use Verizon and apparently Verizon doesn’t serve that area. That left us feeling like Tom Sawyer and Becky! The spots are gravel and narrow and not quite level. The Winery sounded great but it was closed during the week. We had deep shade along with Black Walnuts falling on us!

We stayed in the campground for the first time ( previous visits were to tour the cave. ) The reservation and check in process was easy. The camp area is laid out nicely with lots of trees. There is a small playground area and a couple large pavilions for groups to meet, and a laundry, but, other than that....not much amenities The only bathhouse is small ( but okay). Shockingly, there was no dump station. When we pulled out on our checkout day, the supposed dump station was occupied with RVs --- so it really was a full-hookup campsite. We had to circle back to the rear campsites and pull through one of the empty full-hookup sites. ( one of the staff in the camp office, just shrugged, as saying too bad when we inquired). The biggest negative to an otherwise pretty campground is the roads are gravel, as are the sites. The roads are in terrible shape, and throw up lots of dust.

We stayed two nights. We didnt use their restrooms, so we cant rate them. The site we had was a back in site. Nice small creek and woods behind us, nice size site, some shade and quiet. The campfire ring was a huge kettle. The kettle sides were too high to see fire when seated. Strange and was disappointing since it was our last campfire of our 4 month long trip.Staff were friendly. We didnt tour the caves, due to price and mostly COVID-19 in state has been high. There is a winery located outside of CG, which we walked to from our site and had a tasting. Decent wines.CG was close to the town of Hannibal which was a plus.

My husband and I have 3 teenagers. The camp offers two different cave tours, we did them both. Our kiddos said they liked both of them. Cameron cave was Awesome! You get to hike through the cave using just a flashlight...in a big group, its brighter than you might think. We all enjoyed that one, but both tours were cool. Afterwards, we went hiking on one of their trails. We did not choose to stay overnight, we already had a hotel room, but we would absolutely camp there in the future! Great place to visit!

We were pleasantly surprised and I would highly recommend camping here.  We got two sites and setup 1 RV and 2 tents (all electric).  Everything worked smoothly.  Sites were very spacious which is so nice.  There is a nice fire-pit (large metal bowl with attached grate) at each site that worked well.  A creek flows by nearby with places to play in it. There is also a walking trail. The bathrooms were pretty great!  They were cleaned every day between 10-11 AM.  The mens side had 2 stalls, 1 urinal, 3 showers, and 3 sinks (each sink had a soap dispenser and there were towel dispensers as well).  The showers were tiled and the water was hot every time.  The staff at the campground were very kind.  Downtown Hannibal is a cute place and nice to walk around.  Check out the General Store (I submitted a separate review for this)!  We ended up going to Camerons Cave.  I havent been to Mark Twain Cave, but heard its more of a history tour and very commercialized.  We went to Camerons Cave which is a flashlight tour (flashlights are provided and you get to keep them).  That cave was amazing!  One of the better ones Ive been in.  So many paths and so much fun.  We had Bernie as a guide and he was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. You can stand in most of the cave, but there are some low points. We also had an option to squeeze through some tighter tunnels or take the bigger path. We opted to squeeze through the tighter one and it was so cool! Overall, I highly recommend staying at Mark Twain Cave Campground and touring Cameron’s Cave.

We took some friends through the Mark Twain cave yesterday and we had a terrible guild. His name was Titus. He started the tour off slow and very informative. Then not even half way through it he was always looking at his watch and almost running through the rest of the cave. He wasnt worried about his group being able to keep up with him. Even though he was responsible for us getting through the cave. I would not recommend it unless you have another guild.

Pros - atypical cave - easy walking, well lit, dry, great tour guide with stories from Tom Sawyer. Amazing maze cave - easy to get lost without a guide. Cool 52F year round. A unique piece of American history.Cons - few of the rock formations unique to caves - most have long since been removed by souvenir hunters. Far from pristine, heavily visited/ used over the centuries. A little pricey.

I found the Mark Twain Cave to be very interesting. The walls are of horizontal limestone construction with numerous side pathways. The walkways are smooth and well lite, but I found it helpful to use the flashlight app on my phone to see details of the rock formations and past signature names on the walls, including Clemens. After the Mark Twain Cave became a National Natural Landmark, signitures were no longer allowed. Our guide was excellent, and regaled us with past stories of Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatchers harrowing experience of being lost in the cave when there werent any electric lights, only candles🕯A great way to spend time exploring another one of our natural wonders 🇺🇸.

The people are wonderful. Friendly. Kind. The cave is interesting and our tour guide, Michael, was fantastic. The wine at the winery was good - we bought Mischief, Satire, and the port. The campground…well, that’s why I’ve given 3 stars instead of 5. The bathhouses desperately need some ventilation or air conditioning. Without it, they’re horrendously humid (even with it going down to 60 at night) and kinda gross as a result. At our site, there was zero WiFi or even an ability to make a cellphone call. The most difficult thing, though, was that the place seems to be tick infested. We took one off the dog, one off of me, and saw several more. Maybe they could spray to help knock back the tick population? I mean, it’s nature and there are going to be bugs, of course. This place just seemed overrun with ticks.Would love it if they’d ventilate the bathhouses, boost the WiFi signal, and spray the place for ticks. It’d be a definite 5-star place then.

The electrical and water hookups was at the back of the site and the sewer was about the middle so you have to split the difference based on the connections. 15ft of sewer hose wont get it. The cave was great. They also have a Mark Twain actor that does a 1 hour show, which is also really good. They were doing some remodeling and not everything was open. The fire pits are HUGE! Check-In was easy. Staff was super flexible. I needed to extend my stay and they worked with me to make sure Id have the spot I wanted. I needed an Amazon delivery and the staff was very helpful in arranging it.The on-site winery has tastings, by the glass and by-the-bottle purchases of Missouri wines at reasonable prices. Again, the staff was cheerful and very accomodating in helping customers select wines that were palate-pleasing for each customers taste.A little more crowded than Id hoped, but the rates are fair for such tight quarters. There are a large number of WiFi hotspots scattered throughout the park, but still the WiFi experience is poor. This is an issue because on our AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon phones we had zero bars. (Think about it: the campground in literally in a hollow. There are no cell antennas!) But the WiFi in the winery, the sandwich shop, and the gift shop is more than adequate for email and light work.If I had one quibble itd be this: They dont offer discounts to campers for the cave tours. The tours are a little on the pricey side, and knocking a few bucks off for those folks paying to stay on-prem would be a nice touch. (On the other hand, stay six nights and the seventh is on the house, so theres that.)
