Never,never will we take our car to the Pep Boys in Colonial Park, Harrisburg, PA again. We dropped our car off on Wed. night with the promise of our car being finished on Thursday. Thursday rolled along and they did not get our car finished. We were going on vacation in Hilton Head, SC. on Saturday. Pep Boys promised our car to be finished on Friday. It was not ready on Friday. We wanted to leave on Friday. We had no choice but to pick up our car, without being done, and find alternate transportation to Hilton Head. Assistant managers, Megan and Buddie, were unprofessional, rude, less than helpful, and very sarcastic about our situation and their lack of effort. Chuck, the service representative, was very helpful and understanding and seemed embarrassed by the behaviors of the management team. We were told the Regional Manager would telephone us, but he never did. When we picked up our unfished car, it was parked on the side of a public road, not Pep Boys property. We would not recommend Pep Boys to our worst enemies!!!!! We would like to rate them zero stars but there is no option for that.

This is one of the best automotive stores I have ever dealt with. I was coming through the area on my way from New York to home in Maryland when I had a blowout on my small motorhome. After being slightly frustrated from calling other tire places in the area I was absolutely thrilled I called this pep boys! Completely understanding accommodating and had me back on the road within two hours. Even though theyre unable to lift my motor home they allow me to set in the back parking lot and remove the tire myself so they could do the change out, awesome place also employees thank you 100% for being a awesome service company!!!!

I was in for a set of tires. I arrived at 9:15 for a 9:30 appointment and was expecting to be out of there no later than 11:30. When I asked how long I can expect to be, I was told an hour and a half. My car was not put on the lift till 10:40 and I was finally out of there at 12:15. The link I was sent to keep me informed of the progress never got past the confirmation of my appointment until I got a messages telling me my car was done as I was paying and about to leave.I understand I am not the only customer but I did not walk in unannounced. My tires were sitting there waiting when I arrived. Wait time and customer service were unacceptable.

I took my car in to have a flat tire repaired. They informed me (a woman) that the tires had very little tread left and were dry rotted and that I would need new tires. My car is a 2017 and has only 33,000 miles on it. Not exactly a candidate for dry rot. I told them to please just plug the tire. Today, a few weeks later, I took my car into the dealership where I purchased it, to have the oil changed. I asked them to take a look at my tires while it was there, because I had been told they were dry rotted (although I did not believe that for a minute). I was told that my tread is fine and will pass inspection in October, and that there is no sign of dry rot. Seems like Pep Boys was just trying to get me to buy tires. I contacted the manager of the shop there (a woman) to inform them of the situation. She assured me that the tech doesnt know who owns the cars they are working on (woman or not), and that they would never say that it needed something it didnt. Sorry - I call foul on that - they were clearly trying to get me to buy tires I didnt need. I walked away with a repaired tire and no harm done, but I wonder how many people are talked into buying things they dont need? I will never return there for any reason.

Traveling with my husband who has dementia....had no idea what I was doing and cant ask him for help. I thought I was low on oul,but it ( the car)was telling it was 15% oil life. If the gentleman working there didnt tell me the difference, I would of been in trouble. He then suggested pep to change my oil. They changed my oil and more......very pleased. Thankyou Matt and Nicole for your help. I wish I remembered the name of the man who helped me when I asked for a funnel.

Immediately after having my car serviced, the engine was not running properly. I called store and they said if it was a result of something they did, they would cover the cost to fix the issue. I brought the car to another pep boys shop and upon calling the Harrisburg location, they said it was not their problem and I would have to correct the issue out of pocket. Misleading and overall unprofessional experience, though the second location was much better.

This place is horrible. I had my inspection scheduled at 10 am and they let my car sitting there all day, and it was going to stay overnight and they didn’t even give me a call to let me know. They don’t really care about their customers, when asked something the answer was always I don’t know, I’m sorry, I have to see so, they don’t show any interest in helping the customers. Horrible service.

I was impressed with how fast they took care of my uncles van that broke down suddenly. We towed it to them Friday evening after making phone calls (so yes - staff answered the phone!) to ensure they were able to fix the issues. They were honest and upfront with the costs. Their labor seemed on the higher side than what I am used to, but they fixed the van and called us Saturday morning by 11am which was way before the ETA - another plus. I appreciated how they didnt take advantage of the situation and actually did what they explained they would do.

Nicole was outstanding! She listened when I told her about my experience 2 days prior and how I was treated regarding my tire pressure issue. She wrote the repair order to have the sensor checked.If I had not been dismissed two days prior, I would not have been back or met Nicole.My main frustration was having this sensor replaced again. A competitor replaced the original 10 year old sensor exactly16 months to the day.Nicole went above and beyond to have my car properly diagnosed and repaired in a timely manner.It is refreshing to have a woman as a CSR and kudos to Pep Boys for hiring her! More businesses need to follow your lead and hire women for jobs predominantly held by men.Thank you, Nicole, for listening and understanding.

Had a 9:00 appointment to install 4 tires ( ordered & delivered by Amazon). Arrived prior to 9:00 to take care of paperwork. 3+ hrs later I got my car back. Tires seem to be installed correctly, no complaints about the mechanics work, but 3 hours to install a set of tires seems excessive, especially with a confirmed appointment. Also, their computer system didnt tell them it was an Amazon order, which made the counter guy have to re-do the final bill...so if you have your Amazon tires installed at Pep Boys, be SURE to make it clear to the counter guy.

This has been the worst experience ever. I scheduled my oil change appointment for 2:00 pm I didn’t leave until 5:15....... This makes no sense at all. The “customer service” was a joke. I wasn’t given an apology, a coupon, Nothing. This place definitely needs better management. I will never be back nor will I be recommending them to anybody. @pepboys, Get it together. I would give them zero stars if I could.

Its not the best Pep Boys location as the waiting area is a bit small for the amount of people who want to use it, and it can take a bit long for your vehicle to get serviced sometimes (especially because theyre often pretty busy and they dont do appointments for simple things like oil changes), but theyre pretty good at their job and the prices are good. I recommend if youre buying common car parts, like tires or oil, or if youre want to have someone else do routine maintenance like an oil change or a break & rotor replacement. For more complicated issues, I recommend going to an authorized dealer because while it may be more expensive, they are much more knowledgeable about their own products and they most likely arent going to mess up.

Got a great deal on a new set of four tires for my truck. It took a bit longer than expected for installation. I arrived 10 minutes early, and they took the truck in right away, even so it took nearly 2 hours to mount and balance 4 new tires. The waiting room was ok, but tv was broken and you could hear a lot of loud cussing and conversations coming from the shop. Overall, I was pleased with everything, just not a 5 star experience. I am a former auto parts and service manager, so maybe I have higher standards....

I would give them 0 stars if possible. Several days ago I made an appt to have my brakes replaced. I got there a half an hour early and it was busy, I have been going to this location for over 4 years and there has always been a long wait. I was prepared for it.The employee I talked to seemed to be trying to talk me out of my appt. He told me it would be a long wait and made me aware of all the extra charges. He said it would be at least 3 hrs and they would call me. I waited for 3 hrs plus before I checked at the desk.The employee I originally checked in with was gone and they couldnt find my paperwork. He finally found it buried in his station. They had assessed my car, no work done. He had no idea so he was looking at for the first time with me. He said it would take another 2-3 hrs and they may not even have the rear brakes in stock!I could have been called with this info instead of waiting. They basically forgot about me. I will never again go to PEP BOYS! And I will tell all my friends about my experience.

Took my vehicle in for an appointment at 9:30 am for a simple oil change and its not 12:15 pm and Im still waiting. Additionally they are allowing customers to sit in their waiting room with no mask coughing. Do not come here unless you want to wait and be exposed to God only knows what.

Very disappointed with Pep Boys altogether. Had service done to my car for years, and about a year ago I had new tires installed with a warranty. My tires started getting bad fairly quickly, so I went to see if I could change them out with my warranty. What do I get? They search my name and I apparently have had 0 work done with them, yet my name and my car were in the system. How would my name and car be in the system if I had 0 work done at any of the locations? I asked the guy on the phone if they erased records or had a system malfunction and he said they didnt, but then how did my records just disappear? Really disappointed and would NOT recommend. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Simple oil change with an appointment took a day. Was ready for pick up at the end of the day. I gave them another chance. Tire rotation took all day. Seems like they are 1 short of staff or they dont prioritize customer with appointments. Or they are taking more than what they can handle.

I had a 10:30 appointment. I arrived on time, online it says plan for an hour. When I dropped the car off the estimated pick up time was 2 and a half hours later. Then they called me at 12:00 and had just taken my car into the garage. If you can’t put cars in the garage at a scheduled appointment time then don’t make appointments. Have a first come first serve business. People plan their days around these things, and being an hour and a half behind an appointment time is unacceptable.

Scheduled an oil change for 8:30 am online and the estimated time for the service was 30 minutes. When I arrived at 8:25 I was then told that it would instead be an hour and 30 minutes. I understand being short staffed but figure something out. I will not be back to pep boys again.

We simply went in to ask about if they could fix or at least look at our passengers side window because it won’t go up and we have a 9 hour drive to our destination. I was met by a person named Kyle and he was giving us such a rude attitude when we were being nice and called ahead of time. We just really needed it fixed and yes he gave the option to wait but with such a attitude we decided to move on and suffer with the window down even though it’s very cold. I don’t know who runs this but they need to check better on employees and their attitudes with customer service at the service center. This is unacceptable!

This place is a joke. Youre given an appointment and they never stick to it. My appointment was 12:00pm and my car was taken in around 2:30pm. The staff is very rude and unfriendly. Go there if you have alot of time to waste. Youre time is not as valuable as theirs.

Some may complain about the prices but, I NEVER have any problems with work done there. You get what you pay for.

I brought my car to Pep Boys for a routine state inspection, I had just moved from New Jersey. I made an appointment for 10:00am and when I arrived I was told this would take about an hour and a half. I was quite surprised since this takes only about 10-15 minutes in Jersey. But okay, I didnt know so I walked back home to wait for their call that the inspection was complete. About noon I got a call telling me that in order to complete the emissions test I needed to purchase a new gas cap. When I questioned how much the cap was I was given a price to $149.00, andit wasnt in stock but they could have it tomorrow. First off I questioned why so expensive, the person on the line told me maybe it was better than the one on the car.....I have a 2012 VW Beetle. I questioned this as Id never heard of such a thing and I also told the gentleman I really needed my car back the next day for a planned trip. He said hed speak with his manager and call me back. While I was waiting for that call I googled and found my gas cap for $39.00! Then I thought maybe I should call a VW dealership, which I did, and was told the gas cap was only $36.00! Needless to say, I called Pep Boys back immediately and told them what I had learned about cap prices....they told me the man on the phone didnt really know the price! At that point I couldnt leave my car there having no trust in them. They were very apologetic when I got there, but I didnt want them doing anything to my car. I left and set another appointment with a repair shop and picked up the cap myself at VW. Well guess what, the repair shop I went to tested my cap and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it! My advice to anyone considering this place is DO NOT TRUST THIS ESTABLISHMENT!

I visited the Pep Boys on Jonestown Rd. In Harrisburg, PA (Store ID# 0017, Work Order # 2353682) on July 20, 2020 to have the tires balanced & an alignment. Before I took it in, my car was pulling slightly to the left & felt like the tires needed balancing. I was on a 3,000-4,000 mile trip from Texas. I picked my car up that evening & drove about a mile to my daughter’s house, didn’t drive anywhere the following day, & left for Texas on July 22nd. AS SOON as I got out on the highway, I could tell the tires were horribly out of balance. I had a blowout just outside Little Rock, AR & ended up having to buy 4 new tires. I told my daughter who was with me (before the blowout) that I was going to complain that I bounced all the way to Texas! I don’t know if the technician who did the work didn’t know what he was doing or what! But it was so much worse after the work was supposedly done! We could have had a wreck or been killed on the side of the highway! All I needed was for a “professional” to suggest that I needed to replace my tires & I would have done so! Evidently the tread was such on all tires that they should definitely have said something! I’m so disgusted & my son-in-law who lives in Harrisburg will have second thoughts before taking his vehicles to that shop again.Karen ASent from my iPhone

I have been here twice and never been disappointed. Wonderful customer service at the counters as well as from the mechanics. The first time was for an oil change and the time taken and cost were reasonable. The second time was to check up on my battery that wasnt holding charge. I wasnt asked to pay the second time because apparently, it was only a minor placement issue with the battery, but one that they thoroughly checked and came to a conclusion after. The mechanics would always walk in between intervals to give a status report while I waited. This is my go-to service center now.

I went to pep boys to get my car inspected, everyone was very nice and very engaging. upon inspection they notified me that my oil cap was gone. They replaced it for free. I also signed up for their Pep Boys card and received a free oil change. Despite the free stuff, the gentlemen were very polite and accomadating. 10/10 would eat there again. ;)

Went online an ordered tires and scheduled an appointment for the next day for 6pm. Arrived 15 minutes prior to appointment. My car wasnt pulled into garage until 7pm. I noticed my car hadnt been raised off the ground and now it was 8:05pm. They close at 9pm. So I go ask desk representative what is going on. She says they cant find my tires that I ordered. We will have someone else look for them in the morning and call you back if you like. Two and a half hours of my life I cant get back. No courtesy phone call 7pm to let me know they cant find my tires. Never going back again. Time is money...

Very kind. They were honest. They told me which items also got a rebate. Also, because I am a senior citizen they gave me an additional 10% discount, even on the sale price.If they find an unexpected problem on your car, they come and explain before they automatically fix it and charge you.

Worst customer service ever! This store is a joke. You refuse to serve someone if they dont have a mask on, yet your employees dont even wear them properly, so the difference? As someone that falls under the category of health issues I do not have to explain to you why I do not have w one on and then you tell me there is the curbside option. And as an AMERICAN it is my RIGHT to not wear something over my face that I cant breathe out of when its 100 degrees outside!

My cars starter didnt work 2 months ago and I had to bring it in Pep boys. they changed it with re-built starter and after 2 months again my car didnt start well, I took my car to another Pep boys and they fix it and didnt charge me. But after they fix the starter, the light break didnt work, probably something from wires. Any way if this Pep Boys could do good job, I wouldnt have to tow my car for second time and got stressed for 4 times.

Took my sons car here because of a sound in a wheel. figured it was a wheel bearing, which it was, and also a bad control arm. they claimed there were a few other minor issues that would prevent a good inspection, but we chose to only fix the major issues. when we returned to pick it up, they claimed that all the control arms were bad and wrote all over the receipt that the car was unsafe to drive. we brought it to our local garage and they couldnt find anything wrong with the remaining control arms. so, yeah. no.

Overall great experience. Everyone was so helpful and nice. I had a bit of a crazy situation with my car. When I arrived and spoke to one of the managers they were understanding and able to sort everything out. I was only there for less than an hr before my car was done. And I was a walk-in...on a Friday! So please with everyone there!

For the past five years I have brought my car to Pep Boys for any automotive maintenance or repairs. I have always had helpful employees assist me. Chris, the current service manager, is always extremely helpful and makes sure I am always satisfied with what is being done with my vehicle. I always have David, a mechanic, work on my vehicle. He always does very high quality work and I am confident that my car is being repaired properly and is safe for me to drive. The staff at this Pep Boys on Jonestown road is very nice and respectful and always treat their customers great.

Had a long wait but that was to be expected with an oil change and state inspection as my car needed brakes but Chuck and his team took care of me as always. I went on their online store to order tires, they said the tires would be available the following day. I called in and they were not there I was then told that there was no way they could order them to be there even the next day. so I asked for the correct tire size information so that I could get a different appointment with a different tire dealer, and then I found out the tire information they gave me was inaccurate. So now the tire company Im working with now has to wait to order the right size of tires all because pepboys failed online in store in their suggestions were off. The employee on the phone said he could not order anything online and have it shipped at a decent time even though the website says that it could. Something is definitely wrong with the way this store operates

Dropped my truck off yesterday for a inspection. Was told it would be done before closing and never so much as got a phone callBeing I deal with customers everyday communication is key. And as far as communication I feel was very poor. Not so much that my truck was completed. But I never got a call. I do know we all are busy. But only takes a few seconds to make that call. So I will be calling myself this morning to find out where we stand on my truck. Called this morning and talked to Chuck. They got my truck in first thing this morning.And now at 9am Chuck just called and told me my truck was ready. So other then no phone call yesterday letting me know my truck was not done. I have no complaints. We all get bust and forget from time to time. So overall great service

Rude and disorganized. An enormous waste of time. Ive gone to this place for car services for 3 years. They werent great but they got the job done (eventually). Showed up for my 10am appointment on Sunday and was told they were 40 minutes behind. At 12:30, I asked if my car had been seen yet and was told it wasnt and wouldnt be for a good while. I worked with the girl to set up another appointment at a less busy time. I show up for my appointment today, and Chuck walks out, I say hi and he completely ignores me, doesnt respond in any way. 5 minutes go by with staff walking by and a line forming behind me. Chuck tells me itll be a moment. Another 5 minutes. Another guy comes over and says to the customer behind me, I can help you over here. I assumed they were finishing up something so didnt say anything. But no, he was also there for an oil change, but without an appointment. After theyre done, staff calls for next customer so I go up. He finds my info and I ask, are you behind at all? Yeah a little bit. Well, the location was convenient but I dont have half-days available to maybe get my oil change done. Add rude management on top of that, this place is awful.

Went in for a simple inspection and was told I needed 680+ in repairs. I checked out the problems myself and had a licensed mechanic take a look and saw that those problems didnt exist. I wont speculate on if the problems were made up to sell services or not but this isnt my first experience like this at this location.

The guys at Pep Boys (Chuck at the service desk did a fantastic job, thanks Chuck!) got my truck in at the scheduled appointment time, gave me a great deal on tires, made me an equally great offer on 4-wheel alignment, arranged a Lyft (or Uber) to get me home at no charge, and finished the job in a reasonable time and very much to my satisfaction. I had an appointment scheduled for 10am to fix flat tire and rotate the tires that I bought from them. I dropped the car at 10am and they told me that it will ready by noon the latest. I called them 11:30am to confirm that its still the case they told me to be here at noon. I came at noon and they didnt even start working on my car. Its almost 1pm and my car is still at the parking lot. Very poor customer service they didnt try to rectify the situation or even apologize. My mistake for buying tires from you. Lesson learned...

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After running into some battery/alternator issues on our way home to Buffalo, NY, we spent our entire day stuck in York, PA trying to get our car fixed at a Monro Muffler, just to break down on the side of the road 40 minutes later in Harrisburg, PA. I called pep boys around 8 pm and they helped me figure out a towing method and took us right in the next morning, on a Sunday. They had a difficult and expensive task to fix and they were so understanding, helping work with our budget so we can get home. They even paid for our Lyft so we could get back to their shop. We are so grateful for them helping us so quickly and efficiently!

Walmart Tire and Auto turned me away with a flat tire while traveling from out of the area, citing being too busy. Pep Boys told me that they were backed up but would get it done. They did a fine job quicker than the time they estimated and had neatly put away the compact spare and jack set Id tossed in the trunk haphazardly after dealing with the flat. My overall experience was excellent.

Im going to start off saying I had issues here in the past. But Im glad I gave them another chance. I believe they have a new manager and he is doing a great job of getting customer service back to this store once again. As long as that keeps up Ill be going back and will also say to have other go there as well. I am truly impressed by the way the staff now seems to actually care. My last 3 visits were very pleasant and any question i had was answered. Also when we bought tires last the person who sold them to us was very quick to point out a promotion that saved us almost 200 dollars that we would not have seen had it not been for them explaining it to us. Again very impressed and hoping it stays this way

I will never go back there. I made a 10am appointment and at 11am my car and 2 other people with 10am appointments were sitting there and none of our cars had been pulled into the garage yet. When I asked why I was told about all the medical issues their employees had and how their health was more important. He then told me I could reschedule. Dont you think I should have been given that option when I checked in! Tried to call in and suggested that....no one answered!

I just got into town from driving all the way from Alabama and seen my tire light kept coming on. I was greeting with Excelent customer service from Darnell, Mike and Chuck and the guy who actually fixed my tire.They even was willing to make a run to a different store to get the tire that was needed for my car.I was in and out in a timely manner thank you all for everything and getting back on the road! Anything I’m back in town and something else come up I will definitely be coming back.Ask for those guys when you come in there really great at what they do!

I have spent over $5,000 on several different places to get a weird brakes problem taken care of. None of those 5 places could do it, but cost me a lot and gave me a few expensive problems I didnt originally have. I gave up on the brakes problem, and took it to Pep Boys for tires, since 2 of mine got dry rot. Before doing the tires, I mentioned the weird brake problem that no one can fix and Chuck said he can have one of the techs take it out on the highway to see what it is doing when applying the brakes. They saw my problem, did a free exam on it to be sure, then quoted me a price. I didnt believe that they figured it out, but Chuck assured me if they didnt, I could let them know and bring it back. I jumped in and Ill be damned, they got it! Great job guys! Now I can go on the highway again with no fear of the other drivers slowing down when I cant. All is good again, finally! :)

Recently took my car here. My air and blower had stopped working and I saw they did a free A/C check. They charged me $50 and couldnt even really tell me what was wrong they had misdiagnosed my car. The original price of $250 quickly turned to $400. With no guarantee that the next day the problem wouldnt occur again. Dont go here to get your car fixed!

This place sucks. There’s no point of making an appointment if your car is still sitting out front and your waiting for over an hour and a half before it’s even taken in to the garage for a simple inspection and emissions. The staff also could have better customer service. Their excuse was “I only have one guy back there, did you want to reschedule?” Are you kidding? I’ve been sitting here for an hour and your best remedy is for me to reschedule!! And how is the fact that you ONLY have 1 guy doing mechanical work my problem?

I am from Dover, DE, and was vacationing with my family for a few days from (07/19/14 to 7/21/14) visiting Hershey Park and the surrounding attractions. On Sunday morning 07/20/14, I was headed to the park with my family, and I noticed a loud noise coming from the front left suspension of my 1999 GMC Jimmy every time I hit a road bump. I took a look underneath, and found that I had lost the lower bolt on my front left shock, with the shock now shifted out of bolt-alignment. As a Pep Boys Rewards member who has my car serviced at Pep Boys in DE frequently, I sought to find a Pep Boys near Hershey, PA, knowing that they would be one of the few places that would be open on a Sunday. I dropped off the family at the park, and then I used the Pep Boys web site to find the nearest location, and immediately called. I spoke to Carrie Kramer, and explained my situation. She informed me that they were “booked solid all day”. But, because of my unusual situation, she wanted to try and help me, and asked to put me on hold so that she could speak to the mechanics on duty, to ask them if they would be able to “squeeze me in” if it was just for a simple shock bolt replacement. She took my exact information, make model, missing bolt etc, and got me permission to bring it in. I was so relieved. I immediately drove it in, and when I got there, I was met with a smile, and empathy for my situation. I was prepared to miss the parks all day waiting for my car, but she had already drawn up my paperwork, and I handed her my key and just relaxed for a while. They took my car in to the work bay within half an hour and had it completed within the hour. Carrie was so pleasant and helpful, and the other employees were also great to talk to while I waited for my car. They all saved the day and weekend for me, as I was able to return to the park within a few hrs of finding the problem, and I was able to drive back to DE with the peace of mind that my car was fixed and safe for the road. It is rare to find such wonderful customer service these days, and one of the reasons that I will continue to rely on and trust Pep Boys in the future.

My daughter had the pleasure of visiting this Pep Boys on 8/26/2019. Traveling on business to Harrisburgh, PA when service engine light came on last evening. Called this morning to get an appt. although SEL went out. I told her to have the battery checked as it is old. These gentlemen went above the call of duty to make her first experience with Pep Boys an exceptional visit. So good, in fact, we will be willing to travel 60 odd miles to buy our new tires at this establishment. Wish I had the gentlemans name but she is still on business.
