MY friend came to this shop and had work done on his truck. He explained on how he would make payment arrangements for the work done. The owner at the shop was very rude and kept changing the story up on him saying he didnt explain anything at all. My friend told the owner how he was planning to pay and the guy just kept on saying different things and twisting everything up. He also threatened to go to the dmv and get a tittle change on his truck. I would never recommend going to this shop he does not know how to run a business and is not customer service friendly. Stay away if possible.

Hands down this place has the best customer service and best value that I found so far in Hickory! They were able to diagnosed things on my Chevy 2017 3500 diesel and 2012 Hyundai that not even the dealerships were able to fix. I would highly recommend Merican Muffler and Pit crew (next door) they also do vehicle inspections for Uber I had one done on the Hyundai.. Uber recommended me driving all the way to Charlotte or Asheville for an inspection Im glad I didnt and looked around.

Was told by Dan over the phone to bring my truck in to have dual exchaust put on, so rearranged my day and got there at 1130 and then was told cpuldnt do it today, so wasted the day because i was told to have it there at 12 and it would take around 2 hours but instead never even got it done, very unprofessional....

The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because of the lack of professionalism. They got my truck in the shop and got the parts installed in no time. They worked quickly and accurately. However the employees argued and cursed at each other not only in front of the customers, but in front of their own manager! Even the manager was short and blunt with everything he said and showed no emotion or appreciation for my business.

Ive been a customer for 20-some years and Merican Muffler has always been a great company to do business with. Clearly the best prices and good folks who work there.

In 2017, Merican Muffler replaced both catalytic converters and muffler on our SUV. A little more than a year later, I started hearing a pat pat pat coming from the hood, and took it to another muffler shop that was closer to home (I live in Lenoir). They told me that it sounded like it was coming from the attachment at the engine, and they recommended I take it back to Merican Muffler to evaluate. When I did, Genes crew looked at it, and verified that it was indeed a poor connection, probably a failed gasket. Despite being past the 1 year warranty, Gene fixed this for us on our schedule and didnt charge us for it.Its how people handle situations like this that make good business, and I definitely appreciate Genes efforts to go above and beyond, even though he didnt need to. When people handle situations like this with humility and a willingness to help, it makes it easy to trust them to fix my vehicles.Jason

Went there a few months ago looking for a part for my muffler and the place was pretty much empty with a car on lift. Went in and this guy asked me if I had an appointment (like they were slammed with customers). I said no. So he told me I needed to make an appointment (I guess he assumed I was getting a muffler service or something without him even asking what kind of help I needed). So I told him I dont need my muffler done or anything like that, Im just looking for a part. At this this point, Ive lost interest in the part that I was looking for since this guy was pretty much rude and seemed like I was bothering him. He told me to wait for this other guy who had gone to lunch. As I waited, he was just walking around not really doing anything productive, so I left.This place is a joke now. It was ok back in the early 2000s but now its not a muffler shop to go now cause it seems like they want an appointment for some reason. Sometimes, just because a place is close doesnt mean that its good. I just happened to be in the area and was looking for that part. I will be driving 20 miles to a place in Morganton where they really want to help me like always.

Took our Jeep Wrangler there. Thought we needed a new muffler. The guys checked it out and said we only needed a new tailpipe welded on within the hour and we were on our way.

They fabricated a peice of exhaust pipe for me that fit nicely. Im very impressed with the fast friendly service!
