I am always impressed with the delicious vegan donuts, pastries, and other delights from Vegan Donut and Gelato. The family that owns the business is amazingly kind and hard-working. I ordered a custom order of baked kolaches for a lighter fare, and they accommodated me even though they were busy! I couldnt pass up buying a few donuts as well (the apple fritter is to die for). Thank you for bringing these amazing foods to the vegan and plant-based communities!

These are probably the best or one of the best vegan donuts Ive ever had and Ive been all over. New Jersey, New York, Maine, etc. Didnt expect Texas to have such yummy vegan food! The kolaches are great too.

I was at first irritated at how far this place was from our house. And the place looked simple - too simple - “oh gosh is this place gonna be gross?” I thought - and then I put the first vegan kolache in my mouth and it was so crispy and buttery - warm and crunchy - dang this was freaking awesome. I’ve never had a vegan kolache but this was perhaps even better than a regular kolache. This place is awesome - highly recommended - take the drive and come see!!!

Best donuts ever! I wish I found this place sooner! The donuts here are so moist and a little chewy and creamy, its like a whole different experience. They also have vegan kolaches too that are so good! And they have hot teas and beverages. I cant wait to go back. 😃

There also seems to be a surplus of traditional glaze and speciality donuts with little emphasis on simple chocolate or cake variety. The policy on that changes every time I visit. First, it’s call before you come, then it’s call an hour ahead - all with no updates to the public. It’s great to have a vegan donut option in my area but if I have to deal with attitude every time I visit, I don’t even want it.

I absolutely love this place and would come here all the time if I lived closer. The only place I know of that makes vegan kolaches in Houston, and they’re sooooo delicious. The donuts are so good too and everything is reasonably priced. The people who own it are really sweet and helpful. From the outside, you wouldn’t guess this place is anything special, but believe me it is SO special. I hope this place is open for a long long time!!!

I haven’t eaten meat in about two years and I was really craving kolaches the other day and found this place right by the house!I had the falafel Kolache and a Bavarian cream filled donut.The Kolache was so good! I definitely need to try the other ones, wish it was a bit spicer and cheesier but it was very good.The donut made me feel like I was dreaming, it was absolutely delicious I want one everyday!

Amazing vegan donuts, sweets, kolaches and gelato!This restaurant is a must visit for anyone who lives in Houston. If you live further away from this location, the drive is absolutely worth it for such tasty all foods.As the day of writing this, I had a very convincing bacon sausage kolache that came with some cheese. Also give their fried rice a try! I recommend calling that order in so you can skip the small 10 minute wait for them to make it.I actually have been going here since they opened about a year ago in 2018 and while am not able to visit as often as Id like, I will always have a special place in my vegan heart for Vegan Donut and Gelato!

These donuts are by far better than any other donuts weve had in all of Texas. Not to mention how fantastic the Kolaches are. Will eat one of everything they have if we could.Now to the owners; such nice admirable folks. I love this place! Its very clean, and the music is soothing (you can easily stay there for hours). The staff is very friendly. Everything is vegan. Theres filled donuts, bear claws, donut holes, filled donuts, apple fritters, sausage and cheese kolaches, soyrizo kolaches, falafel kolaches, spring rolls, several different ice creams, good coffee, almond creamer, soy creamer, and organic juices. The only bad thing is that they close earlier than the time I get off work and cant get me some ice cream for the ride home. But, this place is a MUST if youre vegan or just want good kolaches/donuts/ice cream.

One of the best vegan donut shops I have ever been to! Such variety and gelato!! Tofurkey, Soy Chorizo, & Falafel Kolaches and fried rice and egg rolls! Oreo and fruity pebble donuts! Bear claws & cinnamon rolls! Raspberry filled and amazing donut holes! You muuuust go here! The squirrels here feel safe which speaks volumes to me! One came right to the front door and took a donut hole to enjoy for breakfast! Lots of drink options and even vegan products in the fridge to choose from! Visited Vegan Donut & Gelato and ordered the fried rice, 4 egg rolls, a dozen donuts, a dozen donut holes, two kolaches, and a scoop of taro gelato...also four juice boxes. 100% vegan! Everything was super delicious and fresh. Service was very helpful! Menu is very clear. The kolaches were sausage/cheese/jalapeño. Cake, sour cream style and regular donuts available. Taro gelato was out of this world! Friendly ambiance. Will definitely be back.

This place is awesome! It has the best vegan donuts as well as a range of other baked goods like kolaches and cinnamon buns. The drip coffee is also really good. The people are very sweet and friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere.

Great doughnuts, yeast and cake. They keep adding new varieties, like their cream or apple-filled ones. The sausage, cheese, and jalapeno kolache was absolutely fantastic as well. I love that a vegan business can exist and the products are great, regardless of their ingredient list. The staff has also been nothing but smiles and super helpful every time I have been in.

Stopped by here a Sunday after church and was amazed. Their donuts were fresh and STILL warm even around 1:00pm. I suggest you try this place out. We got a mixture of traditional and regular donuts. A donut is missing because I had to eat one!

Genuinely love everything I have ever eaten here. I am a non-vegan in a family of vegans and I LOVE IT. I wish we could get breakfast from here all the time. Highly recommend their apple fritters and tofurky kolache with bacon. So good!

I can’t praise this place enough!! The staff members are always so friendly, and the donuts are easily the best I’ve ever had! The kolaches are also delicious and there are several kinds to choose from. I have yet to try the gelato, but I’m expecting it to be great as well. It’s a 30-minute drive (each way) for me but worth the trip every time! :)

Just had the pleasure to try this today. I dont live close but was in the area for work and decided to swing by. Even at 12:30pm they still had a decent selection to choose from. I ended up with cream filled donuts and was NOT disappointed. These made me feel like I wasnt missing donuts I use to get from Shipleys or Krispy Kreme. These donuts are soft and have just enough sweetness. Ill be back to try other varieties. Im just sad its so far away but its so worth the drive. They are super friendly and have non dairy milks also. Super legit. If your in the area or not..you should try it and support vegan businesses! The best part is that they are vegan and you honestly could NOT tell the difference. Thanks for having a vegan options to satisfy my sweet tooth for donuts and gelato. Will be back many times...

Got a dozen donuts for my Sunday class on my first visit. The kids enjoyed them, I didn’t even tell them they were vegan. Not that it mattered to them, they were so delicious they only left crumbs. This place is BOMB. We need more vegan options like this in the community.

We had blueberry cake donuts and soy chorizo kolaches. Theyre both excellent, the dough is light and fluffy and the chorizo tastes like real meat. The owners are super friendly and service is the best Ive ever experienced at a donuts shop. I only eat vegan twice a year whenever I go on my wellness cleanse so I always try to find vegan food that dont taste like Im deprived of meat. This place definitely will be on my list to visit for future cleanse.

Best place for vegan kolaches in Texas! My spouse and I made a trip to Houston and we heard they sold donuts and ice cream. We decided to stop by and Im so glad we did. They had the most delicious donuts and even better kolaches. And best of all, it was all vegan. We ordered almost every donut on the menu and tried every kolache they had available. We couldnt get enough. We brought back the donuts but the kolaches did not make it past the parking lot.

The food there is delicous and their customer service is on point! Im grateful for their existence.

Love this place! The owners are beyond nice. If theres a special donut I want, they really try to accommodate and make it. I can always rely on them to make excellent kolaches. Ive brought these to my non-vegan family and friends and they cannot even tell theres a difference.

The yeast donuts are fantastic with a creamy texture and perfect sweetness. The one thing that surprised me was the maple is outweighed by the smokey goodness of bacon on the Maple Bacon Donut, could be balanced with a hint stronger maple. The cake donuts are nice as well, but you are able to tell it is vegan. The kolaches seem more of an also ran, but I will say I plan on returning to try more than just the one type I had.

I loved the atmosphere and the owners are extremely nice, very pleasant with excellent customer service. The apple fritter was delicious, fulfilling with plenty of apples, it was light and not greasy at all. I especially like the size of the cinnamon roll because I dont care for big pastry items plus Its not over powerfully sweet. Great place to visit and get a sweet vegan treat.

I took my kids yesterday for our first visit. We were blown away by the flavors! We had the yummy vegan hot dog kolaches, which were fabulous and very flavorful. We also enjoyed a variety of the donuts, all delicious. I think our favorite was the orange frosted, what a bright, yummy orange flavor! We are craving more and already planning our next visit! My wife and I took consideration into this establishment solely based off the reviews. There aren’t many local vegan donut shops, so we figured we’d give it a try. Unfortunately this will be our last experience dealing with this business.The general upkeep of this establishment was acceptable, but the practices of the employee taking orders were unsanitary.The employee had no knowledge of the products he was selling. We asked what were the ingredients in the donuts and his response was, “I don’t know, we get it straight from the factory, but it’s vegan.” That response alone had us second guessing, but as supporters of small businesses we ignored his ignorance.After he got my donut from the microwave, I headed over to the cash register to pay, but I hear my wife asking him, “Are you going to grab a different one?” I ask what the problem was, and come to find out the employee dropped the donut and put it back in the display, then he attempted to package it!! He did not know my wife was watching him. He then arrogantly asked, “Well, what do you want me to do?” She responded by saying that we don’t want the donut you dropped and it needs to go in the trash. He threw it away and asked if we wanted him to grab a different one.Mistakes happen and the issue wasn’t not being able to get the donut I wanted, but the fact he attempted to sell us a donut that fell on the floor! This is how food borne illnesses/poisoning beings. I’m curious to know if that employee even obtained his food handlers license.I undoubtedly do not enjoy leaving negative reviews, but as owners of a food establishment, I am inclined to prioritize the safety of the public health. The idea of this business alone has so much potential, but when you hire employees that aren’t knowledgeable or sanitary, that potential goes to flames.With all of these infectious diseases spreading, if one decides to eat out I urge you all to check that establishments rating from the Local Health Department as well as their past sanitation and food safety history, check how the food is stored/prepared, check for proper sanitation, check to see if the staff is knowledgeable of the product or can direct you to a manager that is, and check if the managers certifications are met.What happened with us that morning was unacceptable and should be addressed.
