Few groceries evoke excitement, lust, envy and jubilation. Central Market is more than a grocery store. It is a bustling market complete with all the scents, sounds, faces and grub. The entropy is omnipresent with overpopulated shelves and brilliant colors. You need a Rueben?, Espresso?, 95% Cacao Chocolate?, Rosemary Bread?, See a Concert?, Cooking Classes?, Japanese(?), German(?), Creole(?) Beer?, Manuka Honey?, Kyoto Tea?, or maybe an $85 imported V60 Japanese Kettle in the original dusty packaging. Look no further. Central Market is a Mecca for visionaries, inventors, politicians, artists, explorers. It must be a statistical nightmare to keep the shelves stocked but you would never guess; the partners are always joyous and for every customer there is a employee. It has a uncanny balance where you feel like a disconnected cousin of the Central Market family. Central Market is for the people. An example where capitalism breeds perfection, and perfection breeds piety. God Bless Central Market and I hope to walk your aisles for years and years.“Whoever said money cant buy happiness didnt know where to shop” - Gertrude Stein

I always get inspired and go to Central market! The seafood department is impressive, the wine selection is diverse, the produce is always fresh and they offer organic selections, the bakery is awesome, the cheese block has some of the most interesting selections and the tapas bar has things that brought it all together. I suggest all foodies take pilgrimage to this market!

Amazing store, I and many would say this is the nicest grocery store in America. Theres only about a dozen of these and located only in Texas! Its a pretty maze. Starting from produce, to protein alley, then wine, then the grocery aisles, curving around to dairy, bakery, deli, and then the front of house is its on own unique section. Consisting of sandwiches, chefs case, salad, coffee, sushi, and even an indoor/outdoor patio. Theres multiple entrances u can cross from the different departments in the store. Upscale and higher end items. Ultimately u can find many basic grocery store in America, but u wont find many unique awesome ones like this Ill tell u that!

Central Market is our favorite place to shop for food when we go to Houston! We live about 2 hours away but go to the doctors there. And we shop for food when we go. There are so many great things at Central Market - tons of coffee, chocolate, apples, other fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese, breads, bakery items, and more. Its a fun place to spend time!

The Central Market in Houston is a beautiful store. If you are like most shoppers you are first greeted with fresh produce nested on towers of shaved ice. After you wind your way through an unmatched selection of colorful fruits and vegetables you will arrive in the meat department. Then the regular grocery area and wine. Followed by the bakery and deli areas. If you run across one of the Central Markets, stop for shopping experience you wont forget.

This grocery store is the ultimate grocery shopping experience. All the fruits and vegetables are extremely fresh and in abundance. The wine selection is fabulous, I love walking into central market! The cooking ideas are endless. The chocolate and dessert area is dangerously sweet and the options are phenomenal here for all foods. The store is immaculate and an employee is always around the next corner to kindly help you find anything you need. The cheese selection is out of this world and Im super excited to see the new items they get in.

I love Central Market and I am a shopper there because I live 5 minutes away. They have the best of everything. The reason I gave them a failing score is because they almost killed my son 2 days ago. My wife and I love their sandwiches. We took our son right after school to try their awesome sandwiches. They never disclosed to us that some of their sandwich spreads have nuts and one in particular has walnuts in it. My son has severe allergic reaction to nuts. As luck may have it he requested the spread that contains walnuts. It had a red color and tasted like tomato basil olive oil. One would never think that the spread included walnuts. By the time we ate the sandwiches, my son’s face swelled up, his eyes puffed up, his mouth warped, and his throat swelled up and could not breath or swallow. We drove home as fast as we could and gave him a shot for the allergy. Luckily we had one at the house. It took the shot about 20 minutes to work but my son almost died from lack of breath. Central Market could have been in the deepest trouble had something happened to my son. It is extremely stupid not to label the spreads and flag the ones that contain nuts. My wife and I panicked and we were so worried that we were going to lose our son. I urge Central Market to properly label all the items that contain nuts in order to avoid a problem that could harm the customers and/or their business. Thank you for your attention. I write this review because I care. I don’t want that bad experience to happen to someone else.

Came to pick up some hard to find vegan foods. This place is huge . The customer service is noticeable by it’s absence. The store itself is clean, well organised with signs point to the various departments.helpful in a store this size.It is priced comparable to a whole foods. This has most any ethnic food you might want . A huge bakery area., is huge, with choices from sourdough, pastries, bewt tortillas in town. . There are ample c cashiers, and parking a cafe’ . Olive bar chocolate bazaar, great beer and wine selection. Produce is large laid out well. Banana selection in shelves marked 1-3 days etc….

This is the best and the only market for its kind .. no comparison. And that is the real problem. Their prices are sky rocketed and very selective clientele goes there . No doubt they have the best and most selections for everything but either they can open more outlets or till someone else do it . Their prices can and will never go down . And why should they ? I like their coffee bar and eating area but their toilet are like third rated stores . Fiesta have better bathrooms for their customers.

Grocery stores are mostly just places to get your weekly necessities and most of them are rather ordinary. Grocery shopping is usually regarded as a chore, but if you want to liven up your grocery shopping experience an excellent place to shop is Houston’s Central Market on Westheimer road. What sets apart Central Market from the typical grocery store is the large variety of goods available. The extensive produce section greets you the moment you walk inside and the fun continues from there, with an extensive bakery, wine/beer section, meat and seafood, and so much more. They even have their own café, coffee/tea bar, and smoothies ready to purchase, for added enjoyment. My favorite part of a visit to Central Market is the discovery. Go to any section and you will see items available that you would most likely not see or find anyplace else. I often spend a long time- longer than I should- looking over the vast selections of goods. There are so many new brands, new flavors, natural varieties, and other discoveries just waiting to be made. I often will set aside about 90 minutes or longer for a visit because I know I will be here a good, long time and leave with a bounty of newfound goodies.Central Market is a grocery store, but it is so much more. The service is excellent, too, as the reps are extremely pleasant and ready to assist. It adds up to one of the best grocery stores in Houston and one of the few that I am willing to drive to all the way from the suburbs. It really is that good!

My husband and I worked with Rakesh in the Cake/Bakery department for our wedding cake and he was so great work with. We were really nervous about ordering our cake through a grocery store, but we had an extremely positive experience. Rakesh was so nice, very responsive and assured us we were in good hands. He truly went above and beyond. The design matched exactly with the inspiration pictures we sent over and the flavors and texture of the cake were so delicious and moist. We got a ton of compliments from our guests that it was the best wedding cake they ever had! The best part was how affordable our cake was compared to quotes we got from other wedding cake vendors. Couldn’t have been happier with our cake from Central Market and would highly recommend working with Rakesh for anyone looking for a custom cake :)

Qi Qi like most Asian women loves the art of food. Watching her stroll through Central Market inspecting the freshness, the quality, and price is how I imagine Michael Angelo chose one large magnificent slab of marble. Of course, I am referring to the Pietà located in the Vatican. She loves central market and the variety and the alternate selection from other markets. She tries to make me eat more like an Asian person but I am fighting it. She chose some vegetables, fruits, and precooked meals. As pictured. I tried to convince her to buy the cookies. She said no. However, if you want to taste probably the best combination of flavors in a cookie, I recommend the one pictured.Qi Qi mainly goes to the Korean market and 99. It has more Asian stuff but when it is too far for her, Central Market is her next choice.

This place has some nice things but it charges a premium beyond a premium... The easiest example I could describe is the floral department : their individual roses are 2x or 3x as much as ANY florist I have been to ($5 rather than $2) their arrangements are easily 3x more than any place I have been. Granted their arrangements are beautiful, they are marginally better than any other shop however they are at least two times as much. For instance a 4x4 arrangement here was $60 but at most other shops (even specific flourists not a dang grocery store) it would be about $30. This example also applies to most other items, for instance fish oil, sweet and sour, peanut oil or whatever you have...I looked at fish oil here, nothing available under $7, I went to heb and the most expensive price was $3 (and this was the EXACT SAME PRODUCT)Sometimes you gotta call it as you see it... exploiting.

Our waiter, Theo, was professional and diligent. Despite there being several items, not available; we understand the food shortage, caused by Covid. Overall, our dinner was delicious. The Tomato Basil Soup was a delightful surprise. It was rich, thick, and seasoned just right! The Reuben sandwich was just as wonderful and delicious as a Reuben should be. We did the Pastrami, instead of the Corn Beef. The layers of Pastrami were juicy and savory. The slaw had just the right amount, to give this sandwich a bit of tanginess. To top off the slaw was a warm, melted slice of a deep mellow, Swiss Cheese. Of course, whats a Reuben without Thousand Island, right? However, nothing can beat their Coleslaw and Pickles, especially when those are Free!

This is HEBs attempt at competing with Whole Foods-- and everything Whole Foods was before the Amazon acquisition is here at this Central Market location. Im gluten free, I do not have celiacs disease but I am gluten sensitive. Well, Ill walked through the bakery and the smell was SOOOOOO good. Ive been to Europe and I got to say I felt like I was in a Parisian market. I asked my wife what she wanted (shes Danish and bakes fresh bread every blue moon), she requested the sourdough-- I absolutely dont encourage anyone to break from their dietary restrictions but I did read an article in Bon Appetit about eating sourdough even if your gluten sensitive and I had to have a slice! It was all due to the smells coming from the bakery. Theres so much authentic good food coming out of the kitchens in this place it is intoxicating. If you were a fan of places where you go in and grab something healthy and freshly made and dont have time to cook at home-- this is definitely the place. I was blown away and just hope that these few first opening weeks arent just an opening extravaganza but remains the standard going forward. I love my local HEB (San Felipe/Fountain View) but I think Im going to be shopping here at Central market quite a bit!
