I am normally extremely picky with my instruments, and David’s expertise is more than able to deliver to that. Periodically, we enjoy “flute nerd” conversations about The various makers - this is something you won’t get at a general “band instrument repair” type of shop.Prices at The Horn Doc are the best in the high-end flute technician world. For a piccolo overhaul, David quoted only about half of what another high-end repair tech quoted. But David’s quality of work and attention to detail are unmatched.My Yamaha 684 flute had been repaired very incorrectly by previous technicians during a repad — I was worried it would need an overhaul/repad. But David was able to restore the mechanism and key alignment while maintaining the same pads! Not easy to do. The flute is now even better than when I first bought it.I plan on going to The Horn Doc for all future COAs and overhauls - including my Muramatsu flute.
