As you many of you may know, its very hard to find a truck right now in the midst of the semiconductor shortage. Well I met Sidney, the used sales manager, at my work and he told me he had a few of the trucks that I wanted and could come do a test drive. Sidney was extremely friendly and funny and his prices were competitive and under KBB.Once I got to his dealership, he set me up with one of his best salesman, Robert. Robert knew everything about the truck that I wanted to know, very informed and full of truck knowledge. He knew that I work a lot and was able to get me in and out as much I needed to be, working late hours to accommodate me. I saw the truck on Friday at 4pm and by Monday at 7pm it was mine.These guys were extremely helpful, friendly, funny, and smart. Use caution when trading or selling a vehicle here. We had our vehicle valued at local Toyota dealer at $35,000.00. I work in the used car industry, and with used cars being at a premium; that number is correct (CarMax also agreed.) Sadly, Southeast Toyota Finance requires you to visit a SE Toyota Finance dealer in order to sell a lease (no TN dealers are with SE Toyota Finance). Bill Penney is the closest dealer to Nashville. They looked at my payoff and offered $25,000.00, about what I owe. I assume they thought I did not know the market and were trying to take advantage. Be sure to do your research before selling a car to them because they are not offering fair market value on used cars.

It was clear the person on the phone was joking around with people on the sales floor and was not paying attention to us. Seems as soon as they have your money, you dont matter anymore.

The staff are friendly and talented, but it is the least coordinated place Ive ever seen. I got my first taste of this when I called -- they had to transfer me four times because nobody knew the proper department to handle my issue. Everyone I talked to was friendly and professional, but it wasnt a real team.Then I got there today. I waited about an hour before they told me that the person Id talked to on the phone never ordered the part but that they could order it now and have it in tomorrow. I agreed, but the price was way higher than what the guy on the phone had said. It turns out this was the price for an upgraded part with features I didnt need. I asked for the downgraded version, and he walked away and came back and said they had that part in stock. They completed the job in about 30 minutes and sent me on my way.So it seems like the guy on the phone ordered the basic part, but the people I met in the service center received no notes on this conversation, so they assumed I wanted the premium part and looked for it to no avail, as I had only asked for the basic part.So yes, great employees but terrible coordination between departments.

Anyone living in or around Birmingham and want to see the largest assortment of Mitsubishi/Toyota automobiles along with the friendliest employees, this is worth the drive. Theres none of this back and forth Let me go see what the manager can do! BS. You see a car you want and they will make it happen. Period. My wife and I came to bill Penny looking to lower our payment from our current vehicle and find something that would fit our family of six. We were very interested in some used mini vans and willing to trade our 2020 Hyundai Palisade. After seeing there was nothing that peaked our interest, the salesman showed us a brand new 2022 Outlander. The car is very nice and had a third row just like we needed. Well, after buying the vehicle, which was mostly a smooth process, the next day we loaded up the car (which includes a 1 month old car seat, a two year old car seat, a 17yr and a 10 yr old 😳 we quickly discovered this car could not fit our needs. After calling two days after purchase and 100 miles later, these people are not willing to take the car back. They said we would take a loss on it because it was used now. Even though we purchased it with 345 miles on it and only put a 100on it. I was willing to swap it for a used mini van of theirs even though I wanted our car back but they told us that was not an option. After looking at the contract they have a lot of fees that they do not mention. Like a $600 docking fee, aka a fake fee and a $998 dealer fee. Oh and we were told this a 4.1 interest rate and it was a 4.28. They really did get over on us good 😀 I hope it feels great to screw over a family with 4 kids with two of the kids being babies.

The salesman I had was Chris Mattocks and there aren’t enough stars for what he deserves. I can honestly say I’ve never had such a great car buying experience. He was very knowledgeable and answered every question we threw at him. He was very friendly, witty, and for him to only be here for 6 months, he really knows his stuff. The accessory department guy, Micah, was great, too! And the finance guy, Nanie, was also very friendly and his smile was very welcoming! LOVE Bill Penny, I refuse to buy a car anywhere else..I love all the staff there and they have always made me feel like family since day one. Salesman TP ran my credit without being straightforward with me. After calling to ask about the hard inquiry Experian alerted me on, he then continued to tell me that “they didn’t run anything”. Wouldn’t recommend going here.

We had Stephen Jefferson help us out in swapping my 4runner for a Highlander. He was super professional, very kind and fun. The whole process was much easier and faster than I’ve ever experienced when trading in and purchasing a car. Jefferson handled all of our questions quickly and didn’t pressure us at all. He explained in great detail all we needed to know about our car. He made us feel like we were his Number 1 priority. We told him what our budget was and what we were looking for and he made sure to get us in a vehicle. They weren’t pushy and we didn’t feel pressured to buy something we didn’t want or couldn’t really afford. When we’re ready for our next one, we will be back!

During my credit rebuilding process, I decided to apply for a vehicle loan after seeing a car I loved. I was ecstatic to hear that I was approved and went to see the vehicle in person and drive it. BEWARE if your going to purchase a high demand new vehicle here. Was looking for a new Tacoma so, I expected to pay sticker. However, Bill Penney tacked on a $2,000 “Market Adjustment ” to the sticker and tried to justify it with multiple stories and explanations of what it was for. I left and said I would think about it. Came home, went online and found the same truck with a few more options FOR LESS $$ at Greenway in the Shoals. Got an online price WITHOUT the bogus market adjustment and simple as pie was in and out of Greenway in 45 minutes for $3,000 less than Bill Penney. I’m just saying, shop around and don’t get sucked in by the typical dealer shell games.Reason for not giving a 1 star is the Service Department. I’ve dealt with them for many years and they do a pretty good job.

We had a great experience buying our first new vehicle. Asim was so friendly and really worked with us on our budget and what we wanted. We would recommend Bill Penney Toyota to anyone in the market for a new vehicle. The entire staff is super friendly and made the whole process enjoyable.

I purchased a new vehicle here about a year ago and the sales team is great. The service team is also great when you can actually get on the phone with them to schedule service. Can’t seem to ever get any service coordinator or operator to ever pick up the phone over numerous occasions.

We are season ticket holders for the trash pandas. We saw Charlie Lansdell at a game with several demos. We asked him several questions about the new highlander, and was very helpful no matter how many beers I have had. So one day we decided to go looking for Charlie and the magical unicorn. After some research Charlie was able to put a finger on one. The man was on two phones trying to plug one in to charge while checking on the load. We had a great time with Charlie even if he didn’t have any chocolate.

Great service. They got mine in and out within the hour and were pleasent to work with the whole way through. They also fixed my coin compartment that was broken from a different dealer, with no additional cost.
