The people at this location are awesome and have never steered me wrong. They always help me with a smile and give the greatest recommendations. Their plant selection also rocks.

Friendly service. Convenient. Hasnt been well stocked in recent months. Maybe due to pandemic? Too many products made in China. Some prices are very high. Decent sales, membership perks.

They had what I needed for painting one of rooms. Also there was a sale on paint samples which made it a lot more affordable to be able to find the perfect color to match our needs. It took about 10-15 to get the samples mixed but after that we paid and were on our way. We also were able to enjoy free and fresh popcorn while we waited. #FreePopcorn #Popcorn #Painting

Neighborhood hardware store. Its pricier than the big stores but its close by and everyone is really nice and helpful!

I rated this ok because it is a bigger store but the associates werent that helpful. Ive been to a different location and felt the staff there was assertive, helpful and knowledgeable. Then as I checked out, I had purchases 4 things with also my wallet and phone in my hand. He didnt bag my items and instead watched me struggle to grab everything and leave as there was people behind me so I didnt want to keep holding them up.

Cut keys but failed to verify that my key is chipped. So, while it opened the door and turned in the ignition, car wouldnt start. But they did promptly refund the purchase. While they have the equipment to do chip keys, the person trained for it wasnt available. Have to come back.

I dont mind one bit paying an average of 20% more for my Hardware needs the people in Ace Hardware Store including this one are always extremely helpful so you dont wander around looking for something with nobody to ask for help they are always there you never make it halfway through the store until someone comes up to assist you too bad Lowes and Home Depot arent that way

When we moved our daughter into her apartment, her loft bed wouldn’t fit! I headed to Ace and was met with a great deal of help! An extremely helpful gentleman led us around back to the shop area (even helped me carry the loft bed) and used a saws all to fix the problem. Super nice, did a great job and very humble. I would refer Ace to friends. Small town feel in a large city - wonderful!

This is one of the worst Ace Hardwares Ive ever been to. We were greeted at the door with a smile and a Welcome to Ace but this is the only positive experience we had here. Not once were we asked what we were looking for, eventually we found the nuts and bolts isle on our own. The prices for this hardware was outrageous! The Ace back home where we are from, the hardware would be 1/2 the price. Upon checking out, employees were talking/gossiping to another customer blocking the isle to the register. I would not recommend coming here.

Wonderful place to go for any tools or hardware. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I asked on guy for magnetic clasps and he told me from the top of his head isle 17 3/4 of the way down in the bottom drawer of the black container. It was kinda crazy. I love going to ace.

Came here to make copies of my apartment keys, I went two places before them and they got it on the first try. definitely going to ace more often

This place has the worst customer service of the 2 stores in Iowa City. I dropped a screen off for repair over 2 months ago and it still is not finished, and everytime I call I get the run around and put on hold and nobody ever returns to the phone. Called 3 weeks ago and was told my screen would be finished next week and still have not heard.

Man oh man do I love this place they have hearts made of gold with 2 indoor kitties that live in store and so very helpful

I brought my home door locks in on a Saturday to get them re-keyed. After asking what I meant by re-keying the locks, the associate then declared that my old key (which I brought to help them reset the pins) would not fit in them ... until he tried to actually fit it (big surprise, it worked!).Associate: Huh, it works. Well, come back tomorrow, or else you can leave them overnight and well call you when theyre done on Sunday.Well that would be great, except I needed to be able to lock my doors that night because guess what, I sleep in my home, and I have this troublesome habit of locking my doors!I was then told that the guy who normally does the keys & locks was not there on that day. When I asked if there was anyone else who could do it I was told the following: Were really busy right now, and Im not going to pull someone off of something else to do this. Interesting side note, of the ~20 total parking spaces out front (summertime, the garden center covers the other half of the lot, grand total of maybe 40 spaces otherwise?), there were 5 parked vehicles, including my own. And when I walked in, I was the only customer at the front desk for this entire exchange.Maybe they had a couple dozen weekend warriors running amok in the back, but I guess Ill never know because I will not return to this location at Dodge St & Church St. again.Feel free to make your own decision about whether or not to come here, but I went to the Ace Hardware location on Mall Drive on the other side of town, where they courteously took care of my request, and Id recommend that others do the same or else go to different hardware stores (Pauls, Lowes) entirely.

They sheltered me from the Tuesday hurricane storm. The staff was calm and reassuring to protect,the cuatimers in the power outage. And best yet they allowed me to walk home in 90% off garden boots free sue to not power. Thank you for prottecting us.

When I entered the location I was Immediately helped by an associate who directed me to the person that could assist me with my issue. When I told the associate my issue he immediately pointed out a possible solution for my problem. Overall I really enjoyed my visit, I would come back to this location if Im in town because the employee seemed extremely helpful.

Unlike some other ACE hardware stores I have been to the Iowa City ACE is always well stocked! I always can find what I am looking for. Store clerks are always very helpful and knowledgeable.

I looked all over town for someone who could actually take the TIME to treat me like a human being! Lowes didnt, Menards didnt, but ACE did!! Had people actually LISTEN to me and not just try to shuffle me out the door as quickly as possible! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Ace web site shows the item I want in stock at this store. Drive to the store, item not there. Employee, upset at being expected to do his job even though I politely waited for him to finish his personal conversation, says, If its not on the rack, its not here. I might have some on Friday. Walks off without bothering to check or even asking if I need anything else. Not sure if they track inventory poorly or just treat customers poorly, but I wont be back to find out.

We visited ACE Hardware today. Its really nice to have a hardware store near downtown is Iowa City. They have a wide selection of office supplies, lawn mowers, snow blowers, gas grills, and many other items. ACE is the place for all your hardware needs!
