I was recommended this store by a friend. I recently moved to Jacksonville and had a wonderful experience shopping here. The entire staff was courteous and very thorough on not only helping me select a bike, but also all the accessories to go with it. I spent 90 minutes interacting with various clerks while my bike was being fitted with new tires and I selected shoes, pedals/cleats, etc.I’d highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a store that gives a bespoke experience while tuning/ fitting your bike, and a staff that will explain the various values and price options for the components you need. The Bicycle Shop of Jacksonville lived up to the recommendations and reviews of my friends and I agree that if you’re in that town it is worth your while yo shop there.
Great experience at this LBS. Brought my bike in for a quick cable repair and the service was excellent. Had my bike back to me within a few hours! Jack even diagnosed a few other minor issues with my bike and got me straightened out and race ready. Good to know i have a local shop that i can hand my bike over to without stressing over it. Theyve been in business for a long time and it shows.
Great service and always is helpful! Would definitely recommend buying a bike here!
Very expressive and repair was not done well in my opinion . I would not recommend or go back . I cant believe what I was told or how I was spoke to .
Every time I visit the Bicycle Shop I leave a happy customer. Yesterday I brought in the bike I purchased there last year for a routine tune up and had questions about click in bike shoes. The staff expertly explained the equipment and its purpose and I ended up buying everything I needed. I highly recommend shopping there.
I came in with a Recumbent bicycle, which the gentleman looked at and fixes at the same time. I was having issues with the seat being stuck while riding. I was not charged for it that was on the house. My other bicycle was a mountain bike and the brake line was broken which was a disc brake. This bicycle is in the shop and the gentleman who work on on my Recumbent bicycle also worked on the mountain. The gentleman indeed explains everything to me about both good bicycles. I will get this bicycle back on Wednesday due.
Wow. Words can’t describe how awesome these guys are. My son’s brakes on his bike got yanked out and all tangled up from his school moving his bike rack while he was in school. Brought my son’s bike to Bicycle shop expecting to at least pay 40-$60 or maybe even more, which obviously I had no problem doing. Customer service was great, as soon as I walked in it was extremely busy and it wasn’t long before a tech had my bike, he had it for not even 10 minutes supposedly to just give me a quote. Needless to say he comes out with bike fixed and tweaked a couple other things and told me it was an easy fix and don’t worry about it! I still tried to pay bc now I want to even more, But he insisted. Just goes to show you not everyone is all about the dollar. Thank you guys!
The Bicycle Shop was s simply the best! Great friendly service and good selections. The attention to detail on repairs is second to none. It doesn’t matter your knowledge level on biking they make sure they talk to you not at you! The only place I go for biking needs.
Benjo Bombers! Jack and his staff did a fantastic job tuning up and replacing tires on our beloved old rod-brake Hattori bicycles. Full disclosure, I had to acquire tires from the old girls native Japan (very unique)! But after that, I searched all over for a shop that would take on the task of replacing tires on rod-brake bikes. Every shop I called (from Wilmington to Greenville) either said they were unfamiliar with rod-brake bikes or were familiar but refused to do the work as its labor intensive. Found Jacks shop and he and his team accepted the challenge. Couldnt be happier with the outcome and, considering the work involved, I was extremely pleased with the final bill. Got both done in less than two days (I expected it to take a week). Very impressed with the entire evolution... Ive got another old beauty Ill be bringing to him very soon!
Pretty great place to get a bicycle.
Just bought my first bike as an adult and the knowledgeable staff made it super easy!! Will definitely be back in!!!
I purchased an adult tricycle on line. That beast took me 8 full hours to assemble. Another 2 hours attempting to adjust the brakes and gears to no avail. So I gave up and took my three wheeler to the professionals at the Bicycle Shop. They are true wonder workers. Thanks to Van and Jeff I can now cruise with confidence and it didnt cost me a fortune for a tune-up. Thanks again!
Experience very lovely. Bought my first tricycle from them.
The Bicycle Shop has a decent variety of high end bicycles. Many are designed and to my understanding built and painted by the owner Jack Kane. The store is welcoming and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a quality bike this is your place. If you want a beater bike, head to Walmart or somewhere else.
I really love visiting this shop. Jack and his wife are so friendly. I’ve purchased a used Trek bike for my child, and have had several minor bike repairs done. Each time the staff has been knowledgeable and attentive. Repairs have been quick and very reasonably priced. Also, they have a well kept children’s play area so my kids love coming with me and I don’t feel like I need to constantly keep them away from the beautiful display of bikes.
My husband and I purchased bicycles a few weeks ago and he and I were riding last week and I somehow got a flat tire! My husband took my bike in this week and Jeff was so kind to repair the same day and we were back on the bikes that night for a long ride. Thank you so much for the quick turn around time on my bike and we would highly recommend the bicycle shop.
Bought a new trek mountain bike from here today and all I can say is excellent service from a family run business would recommend 10 times out of 10.
This is the place to go in Jax. If you want bike parts, tools, and advice. They even sponsor a mountain bike league with NICA! 10/10
The bicycle shop is bar-none the best in our wide reaching area. Honest helpful and kind. I would not recommend or do business elsewhere.
My wife and I have bought 2 excellent bikes from this shop and had a lot of work done on other bikes by them as I build bikes for friends and family as a hobby. They are very decent, wonderfully knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with.
Was incorrectly informed by an employee yesterday (a Wednesday) that I would be able to drop my bike off today (a Thursday.) Come to find out, they are closed on Thursdays. Drove 30 mins to the shop for no reason. Please double check days before advising customers to drop bikes off. Big waste of time.
So glad we made the trip from New Bern - excellent bike shopping experience. Highly recommend this store and will definitely be back for accessories in the near future!
Very knowledgeable staff, great place to shop for bicycle needs.
I absolutely can not recommend this place enough. The staff was super friendly and helpful doesn’t even begin to describe the amount of knowledge and expertise you will find here. I got to the store late (about 30 mins before closing, which I hate doing but it’s the only chance I had) and they were very busy and had been all day apparently. However, this did not stop them from being extremely kind and they handled the rush super well. They also took the time to answer all my questions, which I tend to have a lot of, and when I told them my price range they didn’t push me to more expensive options they showed me the best of what I could afford. They include so many services with the purchase of a bike and fit the bike to you and give you a run down which is especially nice if you don’t know anything. They stayed an hour past closing to make sure I was completely taken care of and at no point did I feel rushed to leave or felt that I was not welcome. 5 stars simply isn’t enough, a lot of times in a military town businesses try to screw people over because there isn’t many options but not at the bicycle shop, they have set the gold standard and I look forward to being a customer with them!
Very helpful from the time that I walked in the door until the time I made my final purchase!
Best place to get a bike. The ones at Walmart or academy fall apart easily. These bikes are hard working, and are made by fantastic employees.
Great bike shop for fixing your bike up and getting some gear or just general knowledge. I needed a repair and they had the parts and were able to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. When I picked it up they also gave me some tips on how to keep my bike in the best shape long term. Great friendly staff.
By far the best Bicycle shop Ive ever been to. I will only use them from now on. The service was great. They answered every question I asked with expertise and professionalism, regardless of how many questions I berated them with. They helped me find the perfect bike for me and then spent at least an hour showing me ways to take care of and make the best use of it. I guess the most important trait I noticed in the shop was that they genuinely care and WANT to help each and every customer. I would recommend them to anyone. I hate writing reviews but I felt obligated to write this one.
One of the best bike shops we have ever set foot in. We were blown away by the knowledge of our 2000 Cannondale that Jack had, and tended to our beloved ride as if it was his own. In addition his custom rides were simply beautiful and shows the passion that this man has for cycling. It took us close to 2 hours, one way, to get to his shop and worth every mile and minute spent. Five stars is not enough, this is a ten star shop!!!!
Spouse traded and bought from here last year, decent deal. I was going to do the same, until $45 stood in the way. They were only willing to give me $105 for my trade in and I wanted $150. I was prepared to spend $769 on a brand new bike, minus the $150 trade in. Needless to say, I will take my $100 bike and give my money to another bike store who may be a little more understanding of a bike having more value considering the owner is about to drop $600 in their pockets. In reply to your response, I would just like for you to know my husbands transaction was completely separate from mine. He was satisfied with your services, however he did call the day before and left a message and did not receive a call back and had to call again to see if it was ok to come. He was also more than willing to leave it overnight to have it looked over, even though it only took about 20 minutes for you to look it over. As for my issue, which is completely different, I cant believe you were willing to lose a customer willing to pay over $600 on a new bike over $45. Also, the free services you provided, I NEVER asked for, in fact, it offended me you didnt just give me my bike back after you told me what you thought it was worth. I think people should see that a deal wasnt able to be made with a customer who was prepared to trade and upgrade, over such a tiny amount. Again, my transaction was completely separate from my husbands.
This is a great shop. Great people. Jack is a bank of knowledge on bicycles so if he tells you something about your bike or one you want you can trust what he says. Same for his wife and all the staff. I have never had a bad experience with them.
I went down twice over axle broken and padder need fix but he turn me with high price! They only fix my bike is tire flat but sometime they do fix but they want be buy other bike.
They tuned up our bike and they work better than they did when they was new!Great service and great workmen’s ship.
The man working in the shop was rude. He has no idea of what customer service is. I was in the store for 20 minutes before I was even noticed. He was either playing games on his cell phone or distracted. And when I asked about getting measured for a bicycle. He pretty much said we cant unless you buy one here. People sometimes get measured and buy somewhere else. we can do it but theres a chargeThe worse bike shop I ever been to. Ill rather drive toWilmington than to ever visit this place. He could of say there is a charge for us to do it, and if you buy a bike from us there is not chargeI wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.I wonder why people go and buy somewhere else.
If I could give zero stars. If you are going to be closed on a holiday, post it on your website or on your doors/windows.
****Despite my friends and familys warnings I gave this place a chance. I went in to get my bike tuned and brake pads replaced. Payed $80 to find out they didnt do anything to it at all. I wouldnt recommend these untrustworthy crooks to anyone.****
When we walked in looking for some comfortable bikes for family rides they took the time to carefully explain the different features of various bike styles. They were extremely helpful, knowledgable, and patient while we worked together to determine the bike that would best suit our needs. The nicest staff you could ever ask for and the passion for their job truly shows through the high level of customer service and care. They also have a great selection of accessories. We highly recommend The Bicycle Shop to anyone we know.
A welcome spot. The only real bike shop I saw for 1000 miles traveling down the eastern seaboard by bike. Great staff. Easy going and full of useful info. Followed every bit of advice and was rewarded for it.
I went to stop by of Thursday Feb 16 around 2:00pm and I couldnt get into the parking spaces due to the 10 or so kids out front with their ramps. It is hard to get business in if you dont have any parking spots to have potential customers visit your store. Im all about the kids having fun, I did the same as a kid, but take it to a better and safer place.
Very knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to help you with your bike, even if you are just stopping in for a minute. Also have a great selection of stuff. One of the nicer shops that Ive visited.-A touring cyclist
Great selection and lots of high end pieces, but staff is condescending. I dont know who Jack Kane is, I dont really care if he designs his own bikes and sells them at a premium. Basically, if you arent ready to spend 3 grand on an all carbon race ready bike, they dont really have any time for you.
I dont often write reviews but they had such great service I felt the need to share. I know nothing about bikes but they did a great job of informing me and helping me pick a bike that fit my needs and budget. They were great, honest and didnt try to oversell me on an expensive bike. I look forward to going back for my future maintenance and service needs.
Thomas Morris is just as nice and.help as can be! He knows his bikes thats for sure! Thank you again Thomas!
We LOVE this shop! Weve purchased new bikes here, had old bikes serviced here, drooled over fancy bikes here... its a great place :)
Shaun and his employees are extremely knowledgeable and will always put in an effort to assist you. I have never been dissatisfied with their recommendations and have been purchasing Specialized bikes & accesories for my wife and I from them for about 3 years now. They take pride in thier work, its not just a job to them. They never disappoint!
Got my beach cruiser back riding good! Thanks guys!
Ive had one experience in there so far. I had been told from another shop that I needed to replace the whole crank set. The gentleman who helped me, (I think his name was Jack, maybe not - it was definitely a four-lettered name...I digress), he gave me a much more economically-friendlier solution, which made much more sense. But even so after fixing my problem, bestowed gallons of knowledge on me in terms of how the different systems work on the new bikes. And at no point in time were his tones or words demeaning or condescending.Long story, short... theyve definitely got a return customer in me.
Bought my first bike there... I went back 3 times to get it adjusted. It was killing my back, and my feet and other places would go numb. I was told that it was happening because I was new to cycling and had to get used to it. At this point Jack was rude and acted like I was an inconvenience. In riding with a phenomenal and severely experienced cyclist he told me that my fit and positioning looked off. He refered me to another shop... My fit was way off and in one visit the new place had me right as rain. I have witnessed on several occasions Jack being rude with other customers and his wife (very sweet lady).
Staff is easy to work with and accommodated holding onto my bikes after servicing for a prolonged period due to a move and family emergency. They are personable and knowledgable but I am not pleased with the outcome of the tune ups and maintenance performed on my two mountain bikes. The tune ups were a bit more expensive than I was used to in other states, most likely due to stiffer competition. On both of the bikes the tubes that were replaced completely blew out within one hour of riding (on asphalt) while the cheaper tires on the four other bikes we have been riding havent been phased in more than a year. Could be a freak coincidence I guess but Im hesitant to believe that since my disk breaks still have the same issue I paid to have fixed and my shocks still wont lock out. Essentially I paid close to 200$ for my bikes to be in the same unridable condition they were in when I brought them in.
This was an amazing experience. The owners and staff was amazing they are very knowledgable and truely want to help you wither getting started in cycling or you have been cycling. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you Jack and kathy.
Visited the shop with my bike only to hear from an old female employee that they dont work with bikes from Walmart. My custom built bike is not from Walmart but even if it was they should treat a customer respectfully.
These are extremely pleasant, informative, and experienced people. Even if you dont leave with a bicycle, you will surely learn something new. After a month of thorough internet research/shopping, I decided to call the Bicycle Shop in Jacksonville just to consider all of my options (at the time, I was really leaning toward buying online). I told them that I was a first time mountain bike buyer, that I had done quite a bit of research, and that I had high expectations with not quite the budget to match. We spoke on the phone for 10 or 15 minutes and after loads of information I decided that it might be worth the drive, even if just to learn something that the internet hadnt taught me. Upon my arrival, I was immediately welcomed and given all the attention that I could hope for, no waiting around to be noticed what so ever. One of the in-house mechanics spent over an hour talking to me about what I want my bicycle to do and be capable of and what my financial options were. Im thrilled to say that I did buy a new mountain bike from this shop (Treks Xcaliber8 which I am so very pleased with, Ive ridden it to and from work each day since plus some super fun trail riding). All in all, I highly recommend checking out the Bicycle Shop in Jacksonville if you are remotely interested in buying a new or used bike.
Very awesome to have this caliber of service and knowledge here in eastern NC 👍👍
The Guerilla Bicycle shop guys great customer service not so much next door 3 stars for the in stock equipment at this bicycle shop
The wife of the owner pressures customers to spend more money in the store than actually giving good customer service.
Exceptional customer service and knowledgeable staff.
Just called and spoke with Jack ... I mentioned I had a few questions if he could ... He informed me that he was with another customer & working on a bike and the other employees were all busy too! Why even bother answering the phone IF you cannot assist?!?! Terrible 1st impression.
Great selection and service!
Great service!!
Good and affordable
