The guy who give gave his name as Enrique and says he is a manager at this location is constantly lying wont provide me with my receipt of purchase for an engine I have to get messed up my car even more and charged me $154 an hour on labor for a total of 15 hrs. And then I find out his name isnt even Enrique so he lied about too this company and this worker are complete trash. if you can, avoid going here at all cost cause. they will hold your car hostage and over charge you on Everything.
Went in for new tires and they tried to scam me I called them out on the attempted scam so they over torked lugnut and snapped it off

Went in for an alignment. I was told a 1 hour wait. As promised, 1 hour later, I was walking out to a happy vehicle. No drama.This is a service center only, so there are no aisles to walk, or things to buy while you wait. Just sayin
I’ve gone to these guys a few times this year with my Subie Forester regarding maintenance and installation concerns. Each time has been Informative and reassuring. Jose and Louie have been good guys to talk about my car concerns. I like that they are open Sunday’s too which helps when issues happen to show up on the weekends. I will keep going back. My wife also goes there for her tire services.
Had a appointment and when I got there I was told they had my tires but could not guarantee the balancing so I left. Very disappointed
My wife took her vehicle here yesterday and asked for an oil change and tire rotation. When they call her back she noticed the tires werent rotated. When she asked the service tech he didnt care nor had a reason why. Terrible service with no care for customer service.

This place is great! We were passing through and had car trouble - These guys were there on a Sunday morning, and Reuben and Derrick helped us and were so friendly. They fixed the car efficiently and got us on the road before they thought they would. They were very helpful and the car has worked great ever since!
I could go on and on and on about this place. However, Ill just say that if theres anything major - the bigger the better! - going on with your vehicle that needs proper attention from an expert mechanic, just take it here and ask for Derrick. Hell work his special car magic and youll leave happy.(Believe it or not - and I wouldnt blame you if you didnt - we actually left there after paying *less* than had been quoted. Whoever heard of such a thing?! Not saying itll happen for everyone - but thats how good and honest they are there!)
Couldnt fix my tire that I got from them that I paid for road hazard service on. Said it would take 5 days to get another one in my size and that it would be different tire.
Got the hook up today with some of the work that i got done. I am always satisfied when i get work done here! Never feel like the guys there are super condescending either, which is a relief when you are a female going in solo to get your car fixed. Overall, just a great place to get your car fixed!

Sure help someone with brake job, but spit in my face when I need to get an inspection on my car (10 minutes of your time) then tell me to get an appointment... While walking back out to the car, the same mechanic was still sitting on his butt texting...for 15 minutes...gee you think he could have done something? Funny I can build an entire car let alone do an inspection, but I dont have a stamp of approval for myself... So if you like to be told No. Get an appointment and see a shop monkey play..come here..
Set up an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. I picked semi synthetic oil, on line price is 45, 35 with coupon. When I arrive the guy, who wasnt very pleasant, told me it would be 95! I said it was half that on line. I looked it up and showed them, and then they said that my car required the full synthetic, and thats why it was so high. Well, on line it lists the full synthetic at 75, 45 with a coupon. So what the hell? I left and went elsewhere, since I can get it done literally anywhere for half the price. Thanks for wasting my time. Classic bait and switch.
The employees were all very polite BUT they took forever, they never called to let me know my car was ready. They overcharged me for the towing. My automatic starter is not working and when I took it back they never called with a update or that my car was ready. They didnt fix it and charged me so much for a battery and an air filter.
They did a good job.. It was a little pricey and they can be a little nicer to their customers. But bottom line they got the job done!

We have had several cars worked on at the Jefferson location over the last 10 years and have always been treated fairly and with respect even when we were crabby, stressed out and not so great to deal with! The prices they charge for the work they do are fair and reasonable across the board. We now live about 45 miles away and still are bringing our cars to this location for service. Like others have said the crew/staff is always professional and friendly. They are knowledgeable when speaking about the repairs that need to be done too. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family and have in the past. Keep up the good work Jimmy, Steve, Tony John and the rest of the crew in the service department! Your company should give out bonuses to you employees for a job well done!!

I would not recommend Pepboys under any circumstances. After a freak accident in the snow, it took them 3 weeks to repair our tire and rim. I understand insurance and ordering a rim took a part in that, but we went over a week with no movement on our car period. My husband finally reached out to THEM to find out that 2 weeks in they decided there was more wrong with our car than our original estimate. Insurance had to come out again, etc. etc. Also, alot of the employees were just down right rude. When we finally were told our car was ready after repeated calls then call backs that they hadn’t accomplished the repair, we came to find our car was trashed on the inside with mud/oil/grease all over the right inside door and center console, both of which are fabric. There was a literal footprint on the console. My husband went back in to complain and ask them to clean it, and an employee walked out with an every day multi purpose cleaner, wiped at it once or twice, and went back inside to call his supervisor, who told us they weren’t doing anything about it and that we could call corporate if we felt like it. Oh, we will be!!!!If there were negative stars, you, pepboys would get every negative I could give.Don’t go here folks, save your time and money.

We had been traveling with our 5th wheel and had a trailer tire blow out on the freeway. Thankfully we were close to the Joliet Pep Boys and they had the tire we needed. Even though they were short handed on this Sunday, Derrick, Reuben and Jessie the manager went above and beyond to help us out and get us on our way as quickly as possible. Unlike many auto stores, I never get any sexist attitude from Pep Boys (as a female amateur mechanic). They recycle automotive oil, and if you need to ask for help, the staff are always friendly. Watch for good sales on oil change/filter combos and windshield wipers.
I brought a used car with 131K miles in here because I was considering whether to purchase it and requested a full inspection which cost over $100. The mechanic said its a piece of junk which was totally unhelpful. He also spent about 15 minutes inspecting the car, and in the process made errors or missed issues entirely (e.g., the car rattles, said the rear suspension needs to be replaced, but it turned out replacing the front stabilizer bar solved the problem). The more frustrating thing is that he did not test for parasitic electrical drain, which turned out to be an issue with the car. Ive heard similar bad stories about pep boys mechanics--overpriced and bad service. Beware if youre bringing your car here. Id find a trustworthy local mechanic if you can.UPDATE FROM 1 TO 2 STARS: Although my bad experience cant be reversed, the manager of the store was quick to reply and offered a full refund. I appreciate his customer service, though I still am upset that the mechanic didnt detect several issues with the car which may have changed my decision to buy it.
Helped us out of a big jam. The family was on our way downstate on a Saturday afternoon when the brakes starting going out. Pep Boys was not only open, but Rick immediately directed us to the nearest places within walking distance to get a bite to eat. Before we were done, they had diagnosed the bad news. We needed a new master cylinder. Fortunately, they are also open Sundays, and he would get the part the next morning. Rick helped us find a nearby hotel for the night, informed us of more good eateries, and gave us (and some of our luggage) a ride to the hotel after being unable to arrange a Lyft for the five of us. The next day, he arrange for the Lyft to pick us up. Everyone worked very hard to get us back on the road. The guys at Pep Boys took a very stressful situation for us and made it as painless as possible.

Especially Sam, a girl working in service, who clapped in my face while yelling at me. Also products are not reliable and the company will not stand by their products. I bought new tires and after 4 months I was told I needed all new tires... when I stated that I had a problem with that they became very rude and unwilling to do anything about it. I am a stay at home mom and I do very little driving, to need new tires after 4 months is rediculous and obviously I had damaged products to begin with. Please do not waste your money!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION FOR ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES, THEY OVERCHARGE 30%!I would give this location less than 1 star. Do NOT go to this location for any mechanical issues. I brought my 2006 Focus into this location and asked them to figure out what was wrong so that I can pass my emissions test. I was charged $100 for them to look at the car and then told my car needs $1000 worth of work to pass the emissions test. I then went to a mechanic down the street who was surprised that I even got charged $100 for them to run a 30 second test and then told me it would only cost $300 to fix my car.Needless to say, I only paid $300 and passed the Emissions Test, no thanks to this Pep Boys.

On 04/04/18... BTW, there should be a NEGATIVE star rating!Firstly, I called to see if I needed to make an appointment to have a headlight low beam bulb replaced, I was told no. When I arrived (4 hours prior to closing)the young man went in back to check to see if they had time for this. The guy(most likely the manager(white shirt) asked if I needed help. I asked him about my no appointment necessary, and he was ready to throw the young employee under the bus. He even told the kid in front of me that he shouldnt have even thought twice, while shaking his head like the kid had no brains. However, when he spoke to me, he was all about the customer, yadda yadda yadda.Of curse they quoted a $30.00 something for bulb and labor...It was cold and I didnt have a worm place to work on it myself.Oh, but then they come out with a part that they said needed to be replaced due to it burning...once I was quoted a price over $120.00 for the part alone, then plus the bulb and labor, getting close to the $200.00 mark...I know better!!!! I told them I was keeping the piece with me, and I didnt want the service.......The Big guy in the white shirt was no longer all about the customer and didnt even look at me ( as if I didnt exist) when I asked if they were going to charge me for lifting the hood.THEN, on my way home, it seemed like my hood wasnt secure, once I got home,I popped the hood and saw that they left the parts on top of engine and battery, I put the things back where they belonged and now my hood no longer wants to shut/latch properly! Looks as if someone took out some anger on my vehicle!!! Honestly looking into possible liability here.I did by the way go elsewhere and had my headlight fixed for about $50. some ...I will never recommend Pep Boys for anything ever! I will be very truthful, just as I would have expected from them, but didnt receive and even received worse treatment!!!I do not like doing a negative review, but they should be known. They really need to reorganize training and who they employ!
Absolutely terrible. Called ahead, said I lowered my car and needed an alignment, the toe is off. Get there wait in line for 15 min then the guy acts all Suprised its lowered and says they cant align lowered vehicles because the camber etc could be off. (this is part of an alignment is adjusting camber and toe). I explained the camber is fine jsjt align the toe problem. He tells me they cant work on modified vehicles! All I did was change the springs. Complete idiot at the counter obviously had very little mechanical knowledge of cars. Would have been the same procedure as aligning a fscortt spring equipped vehicle. Also drove 45 each way for nothing on my only day off. Stay away from this no nothing garage.
Got a new set of tires from here for my Prius. The price and customer service was good but the guy who was doing the job was a little slow like he didnt have much energy. It shouldve been a 15-20 minute job but it took about 45 minutes.
Awful... waited an hour on an oil change I was told would be quick. Then someone else who came in after me, who also got an oil change, was done before me. Employees were not enthusiastic at all. Not customer friendly, especially Mike.

Wanted to change 4 brake pads but they only changed 2 brake pads and overcharged $180 for labor of 1 hour. (two brake pads cost $39 dollars ) when I got home I looked at receipt.
I love pep boys, the employees are friendly, helpful, they make sure you understand about your car, truck and their honest with about whats wrong with, they dont beat around the bush about it, I never had any bad experience with any pep boys employees at all,I wouldnt trade pep boys for any other shop so far its my family place to go, keep up the great work pep boys employees.

I had ordered parts online to get 30 % off. The parts they pulled for us were the wrong size. I had to go back today and exchange the belt and another part. Just now my husband has to pull the radiator and return it so the can get the proper parts that go with it to install it.
Brought two of my vehicles here twice this month. Prices for both jobs not bad... considering i had one older car 2001 and then a 2014, they are versatile and can work on most makes and models. I approached the counter, was greeted with friendly courteous service and a name. I was told up front what the price would be around and how long it would take almost. Thats what im looking for. We made an agreement. I was seated in the waiting area provided and the place didnt stink like automotive fluids. Customers were conversating with each other and humble. When i drove both cars away...they both had excellent repair work like if i had left a dealership. My family feels satisfied and safe. Thank you Pep-Boys Joliet.

Went in last Tuesday told them I needed a tune up for a tick and misfire in my engine. They questioned that and said they would do a full diagnostic service ($80) then proceeded to do $600+ in engine services and an oil change I did not want. Less then a week later my engine is shot and they will do nothing to remedy the problem they caused. All they want to charge now is $2500+ to replace the engine they just had me put $600 into. That is NOT OK. Huge ripoff.

Let me start by saying that Im a mechanic in New Jersey. Im in Illinois on vacation, spending time with my son. His car broke down on him right down the road from pep boys. I found that his right front suspension spring had broken, so he limped it in here. I expected for him to be upsold stuff, and was ready to decline the upsells, and just have the spring replaced. I was then surprised to be told that they wouldnt just replace the broken spring, we either had to accept the upsell, or they wouldnt do anything. It was all or nothing... So they just let $400 walk out the door, because we wouldnt spend $800. Great business plan there.

I recently purchased tires and made an appointment ONLINE.This was a Hugh mistake.The website said the tires will be in on Sat. So I made an appointment at 12.I took the car in and spoke to mike. Who had no idea were the tires were. he smiled and said they should be on the truck coming in.Thats fine with me. I took the day off and was in no hurry so I left the car.4 hours later they call and say they have no idea were the tires are at and I can leave the car there until they find them. Im not leaving my car sit outside at pep boys in Joliet over the weekend..When I returned to get my car I showed mike the conformation on my phone for the tires, installation and appointment.Mike said that the website doesnt communicate with the store and I should have called the store to purchase the tires and make an appointment.I asked if there were any tires they had in house that would fit. He did have a set, for quit a bit more money. I asked if we could work out a discount because of my inconvenience and lost wages for taking the day off.Mike said no, Once again he said I should have called and it is not his fault.So Monday comes and im called back in. They have the tires and are ready. They install the tires and tell me that I owe $250 more.My mistake was not paying for the install online. But $250 to install. Come to find out they didnt honor the online rebates that I had already paid for. So $380 turned into $540.So all the price shopping I had done meant nothing.To top it off there was a lady being told the same thing while I was checking out. She did everything online and was told u should have called the store...I never herd the words were sorry. I was told by Mike its not our fault.I liked pep boys prior to this. Good inventory.As of now I wouldnt go inside if I broke down in the parking lot.I would much rather walk.

Untrustworthy, uneducated.So to begin with I just bought a car, that being said of course I take it some place to check it out to see if there are any problems. I am a college student, working as well, and I need a car and I saw that Pep boys was the quickest, however my experience at Pep boys not just once, but three times have been horrible. First I will tell you about the first time I took it to the shop and then the one a day after, and a week later.To begin with, my first experience seemed alright, I waited over an hour to for them to tell me what was wrong with my brakes, and gave me a list of problems with the car, I later have them replace my front brake pads, and rotors. After telling them I will get the break pads done, it took another two hours for them to do. That being said I paid the $850, which is outrageous for two small things I could do, but I didnt have the time. So as the day progresses I drove my car straight home and parked in the driveway and finished my day at home doing homework.Now I will let you be the judge of this one. I had class the next morning and I woke up and went straight to school, only after a few of my classes my father calls me and told me, Your car is leaking something, is it break fluid or something? So after school I head back home and inspect the car only to find out, it was the oil, apparently all of my oil is gone... So I call Pep Boys and I asked them what happened... they told me they will take a look and to call a tow truck, the tow truck took over two and a half hours to come, and he took the car to Pep Boys free of charge. I get a call from Pep Boys telling my my oil filter has cracked. Thats where is becomes weird, did one of the employees tamper with my oil filter to get more money out of me, or did I happen to crack it on my way home. So I had to get it done because I need a car. So they charged me and got the money out of me.My most recent experience was two weeks after my following experiences. My rear brakes started to make a squealing noise every time I turn left and my left blinker will not work, the light bulb is fine, however the car wont acknowledge that I am turning left. (I believe 95% that its the fuse). So right after school I take it to Pep Boys to see how much it will cost to fix the brake problem and if they even change fuses. So I wait over an hour and a half, on a Monday to finally have them tell me, You should replace the rear brakes and it will stop making the noise, it will be $360, and as for your blinker we can do a electrical diagnosis for $44 dollars, and it will take a long time. So I was like I can change the fuse myself, because I am sure that the problem, but I guess I should replace the brakes if it will stop the noise. So after waiting in the waiting area for another two and a half hours, just for rear brakes, I heard nothing but the employees giving bad new to people, trying to make them spend more and more money. So after they finally finished my brakes the assured me there was no more noise. So I paid and left. I am on my way home and I hear the same exact noise my breaks have been making, keep in mind I live 15-20 minutes away, so I dont want to go back I need to do homework. Then I noticed, they took, or forgot to put my cover for my fuse box back in the spot it belong, so I guess they have it, and my car was dirty with grease on the interior door and more. All I have to say is that I will never go back, I dont want to deal with more problems and I dont care about the cover for the fuse box anymore, they are not reliable mechanics, and they are the reason why many people cant trust mechanics. Chose some other place to go..

I just got home safely with peace of mind on the expressway thanks to the folks at Pep Boys! Jimmy Azar and his entire crew were extremely nice and truly concerned that they fix my problem for me. Thankfully they were open until 8 pm on a Saturday. I ran into the VP, Scott Davis and another Corporate manager, while I was there, who assured me that they have refocused and are on the same page with their customer needs after I mentioned that I quit going to the one in Matteson because of the pricing. Well, they will match a competitors quote, within reason, I never knew this. There are businesses that really do care and Pep Boys in Joilet is one of them! I wish them continued success and hope people start taking their cars there.
I will never take my care to this location again (the store on Jefferson). My first bad experience was when I got an oil change. The employees were very rude and showed no customer service. I called and complained about it and the manager said he would give me a free oil change next time I came in, but was not at all apologetic.A few weeks later I had a service light go on. While I did not want to return, it was the easiest place to get to before a trip. I let them know it had come on before but it just needed a gas cap replaced, but I wanted to make sure nothing else was wrong. The same guy was there (from the oil change) and after a check up, he came out with a list of repairs that needed to be done totaling well over 600 dollars..Not trusting his word, I left with my car. I searched the internet and found that a new (at the time) Pep Boys opened up right down the road on Larkin (store 1430). I told them the story and they checked the car out. The codes had been cleared on the car and was showing nothing wrong. After a checkup, they found it was the gas cap, changed the cap and I didnt have a problem after that..I will never go to the store no Jefferson in Joliet again. The other store is friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure they help you out The staff is friendly and very welcoming. Service department went out of their way to help myself and my daughter after a long day of travel soccer games. After the soccer game, we went to a gas station to add air to a front tire. When I went to remove the plastic cap on the tire stem, it completely broke off and my tire went flat. AAA sent a tow truck right away, the driver called around to find a place to fix the problem, and we were towed to Pep Boys. They fixed the tire stem right away and we were on our way. Thank you for your help after a long day!!!
Although the store is a bit outdated, the service was great. Came in to pick up a new battery and was out the door in about 5 minutes.
They force you to do what ever they want not what you want. They not in it for the customers and they tell you completly diffrent information then the website tells you. Also the mangers are rude to employes.
