Great little health food store in Kahului, great selection of local grown produce and staples, hot and cold bar, espresso and smoothies made to order, outdoor seating. Plus its not owned by Amazon like Whole Paycheck. Perfect.

Absolute delight if you are a vegan. As the name suggests its truly down to earth store. We had a sumptuous meal. They had a huge spread of food bar with lots of vegan delicacies .

Ive driven by this place so many times but never gave it much notice until my girlfriend said she wanted to stop by and grab some food. I tend to think of natural food stores as somewhat run down places. I was completely wrong this store was immaculately clean from top to bottom. Even the bathrooms are cleaner than most store restrooms. The store is wide open and not cramped which I like. There is also a second floor area for dining which is nice and quiet with plenty of windows to let in natural light and look at the mountains and skyline. The store clerks were very welcoming and answered our questions. Ive been to many natural stores where the clerks were very rude and in some cases downright mean. I highly recommend stopping in to this store if you need a healthy bite to eat or some groceries. Im not likely to shop here often but seeing how well they keep this location going, I would definitely be more open to stopping by on my way home from work and giving it some more tries to see if they have a lot of things I would be interested in. The store was well stocked and everything was easy to see!

Everything in this store is delicious! Tons of vegan and healthy grocery items. Deli with a ton of delicious vegan options. Try the signature down to earth burger with a hearty vegan patty made from real whole food unlike fake meats. While everything in Maui is expensive, I got the most for my money at this deli compared to other places I ate. There is also a hot bar with a ton of amazing fresh hot meals. Sadly, you can’t serve yourself due to covid restrictions, but there is a staff member that will scoop items for you.

I like this island store. Great produce section right when you walk in. A good deli with ready made selections of both hot and cold food or you can order from their wide variety menu. They also have a small Healthcare and lifestyle section.

Very friendly staff and if I’m not able to find exactly what I’m looking for, the staff always helps me find the next best thing (sometimes an even better thing). They carry the Golden glow mangoes from Yees in case a craving hits you while in Kahului. The açaí bowl with a bit of almond butter is a great breakfast and their smoothies are great!

The local workers have a huge smiles as soon as you come in & greet you by your name & genuinely talk & joke with you. They are so helpful & have a very cheerful vibes. I absolutely love the fresh made wrap & their Acai. The choice of products is excellent & very well organized. The view from upstairs is pleasant & it feels like a family home.

The burgers and drinks are awesome. I would pass on the salad.

I visited their deli twice on my trip. The food was delicious both times. I got the falafel wrap and the avocado sandwich - both were incredibly tasty and the staff had no issues with minor customizations. I would highly recommend these items for a cool and fresh meal. My partner got the mediterranean panini and it was good, but not great. We got all items vegan, which was such a nice option to have. We also purchased the vegan banana bread from the grocery area and it was SO good!

Nice fresh groceries, very friendly staff, fresh cooked meals are really tasty. If you are vegetarian that’s is the number one place to go to. We ordered bowls, burger and burritos. Their drinks are very delicious as well.

Amazing selection of healthy and delicious vegan/vegetarian foods. Its smaller than Whole Foods, but theres a better selection of quality items here. This is the only location in Maui where I was able to find vegetarian parmesan. The food bar is great too and not just for a grocery store; their Down To Earth Burger is really good.

Interesting options but insanely overpriced

There’s a lot to love about this place, and its a great alternative to Whole Foods, especially the sandwiches and juice, smoothies and coffee. What’s not to love?.... the food service is a bit slow sometimes and the “free” wifi is super slow. So not much...👍🏻

Best vegan food all over Maui! I loved there prepared foods section, which has different varieties of dishes you don’t generally find in other vegan stores. You can mix and match different items as you like! We generally don’t go to a same place on a vacation, but we went to this place a couple of times!

Wow! This place is heaven for vegan and vegetarian folks. Fully organic and delicious food options. The buffet was amazing, pick up a box, fill it with assortment of vegan/vegetarian dishes and head to checkout. That simple. You can enjoy your meal out in sun or head up stairs for small seating area.I am definitely coming back to place to grab a bite when I am on the island.

This place is just awesome! So much variety in the offered products and food. Its really heaven for vegetarians and vegans, they offer almost everything one could imagine. The buffet bar is amazing with delicious meals and and a diverse offer. If it would be a little less expensive, Id definitely eat there everyday when Im on the island! They also offer freshly made burgers and other food at a counter where you can see how they prepare it. Im overwhelmed by this store - thats what the world needs!

This is a great natural foods store. It has fresh local produce, as well as packaged goods and health / beauty products. It is small enough to not get lost in but yet also big enough to have everything you need. The staff is very nice and there is a good selection. I have no complaints about this store. Its a great natural foods mini supermarket.

Love the buffet here! Great organic food all around. If you want local produce, this is the place to get it. Their breaded tofu is my absolute favorite, and they make a mean veggie wrap. Come here for your clean living needs!

Down to Earth is located on Dairy Road in Kahului and is also a great health food store with a large salad bar and deli. It only has vegetarian items in the store so don’t go there looking for meat. The store is pricy but sometimes worth it due to the central location on the island.

These guys couldnt get much better!I love this place so much that as soon as I am off the plane upon flying into Kahului, I am down the street on Dairy Rd shopping here!I bring all of my friends and we enjoy lunch together here.It is a bonafide Vegetarian Store! Not a sell out!The management is great. They answer questions and guide you to all of their great products with ease.I just love all of the local fruits they carry!

A lot less busy then other Organic markets. The mock chicken that they serve is my favorite over the fresh healthy greens and dressing. The upstairs eating area is nice a quiet and tidy. All staff is helpful and knowledgeable.

Im certain that vegetarians/vegans must love this store. We had stopped in to pick up food for sandwiches for a hike and were surprised that they had no meat whatsoever in the store.So, great place to shop if you dont like meat?

Down to Earth is how an organic grocery should be run. They buy a lot of their produce and products from local suppliers (more than Whole Foods does in comparison) so youll be getting Maui grown products instead of mainland ones. The prices are usual organic expensive so theres not much to say about that you just gotta deal with it. The produce staff in particular are super friendly and KNOWLEDGEABLE about the products they offer, seasons that veggies and fruits are usually available, etc. which I love. I also love their salad bar and the deli counter for its tofu dogs!

Found this place on happy cow and got my hotel shuttle to take me there for my last few hours in maui. I threw my last dollars at the whole store. Be warned, it is NOT cheap. At all. But i was so in love with the thought that has clearly gone into the selection of food that i was so happy to eat good vegan food that i didnt even care. My first meal of the day after 1pm and i left feeling good and satisfied. Travelling with a non vegan, this place made me feel spoiled for choice and i did indeed spoil myself.

Just wanted to tell everyone how very friendly the employees and manager of the Kahului Down to Earth have been over the years and still are -- must be all the organic healthy foods they eat and offer!Specifically, I have been ordering healthy birthday baskets every year for at least 6 years from Down to Earth for friends who live in the area. I love Down-to-Earth baskets and Aloha spirit, and my friends always welcome the health in a basket full of fresh and organic snacks & fruits, arranged creatively. I have always been given prompt, friendly, good-spirited service. Cant wait to go over there & try out some of their deli goodies (from Sacramento, CA)! Aloha nui!

Great place for people who are eating healthy. There are a lot of options and a good variety of things. Their produce is fresh and good quality. The staff are helpful and friendly and their location is very convenient for me.

People here were really nice. I was in a bad mood already when I got there so I didnt pay as much attention as I should have. I know that they have kombucha on tap, and a wide variety of foods for people with different dietary restrictions. They also have body glitter that they have testers of, and that made me happy. Sparkles can brighten my mood when Im cranky.

Great shop. Its basically a completely vegetarian/vegan version of whole foods. We flew into Maui for vacation and found this place 5 minutes from the airport. They had a great selection of vegan and vegetarian cooked foods from the hot bar. I got a yummy slice of mushroom artichoke pizza, vegan cupcakes and a yummy fresh made smoothie.We also were able to do . tons of food shopping to stock up for our visit.

Great spot to pick up vegan goods as well as a fantastic slice of vegan pizza. Only complaint was the tofu ‘fried chicken’ from the hot bar and the mock chickn salad from cold bar - poor flavour... kinda gross!

Awesome store. Kind of small, but nice. You can even get lots of cooked meat-free dishes here for lunch. They sell great hot meals by the pound. They have seats inside and out. Yummy food. I buy my protein powder here in bulk its cheap.

Down to Earth was the first stop we made after landing on Maui. We were able to stock up the condo with healthy, fresh foods. There was a great selection of local produce, too. We picked up a vegan dinner from the steam table, which really hit the spot. We had fresh sauteed veggies, brown rice, veggie Dahl, and a selection of fresh salads. It was the perfect first stop!

We are regulars at this place and have been for many years. Friendly lovely Filipino staff and all organic foods. Try the organic juice bar and get the drink called Fresh and Fabulous is my favorite. Salad food bar is AMAZING but go early before lunch before it dries out as they dont replenish the food to often in the afternoon...

All the stores are just absolutely ridiculous they are very high and price I used to own a natural food store and I know these people are charging at least 175% return on each product. Shame on these corporations that doesnt want people to eat healthy theyre so greedy.

We came here for the good reviews from Google. However, the experience is more than disappointing. This is the priciest supermarket we have ever been in Maui, or maybe in the world. A pack of water costs 11 bucks. A whole pizza costs 30 bucks. This makes no sense. We bought an acai bowl here and it tastes horrible. Will NEVER come back again.
