Cool little ice cream shop. They have a lot of really yummy unique flavors with really sweet and tasty chunks of this and that. They seem to have a wide selection of soft serve flavors as well but havent tried that yet.Cones are really yummy too, highly recommend! Atmosphere is hit or miss with the Owner, he seems like he can be really cool but can definitely come off grumpy.
Good little store, tons of flavors but the owner needs to learn why its called shave instead of the more normal sounding shaved ice and not to argue with customers. Definite undertones of anger issues. The general consensus of the debate was that it should be called “shave ice,” because that is the original Hawaiian term, even though it sounds better and is grammatically correct as “shaved ice.”
Top shop in Kihei for a little something sweet and cold. Thanks for your welcoming vibe and super aloha personality. Thx Diana. See you again soon.
104 different flavors of ice cream (and thats just the froyo!) The guy that works there is very good, friendly and fast! He was the only one there working when I went and there was a long line. Super impressive!
Amazing service! So many flavors to choose from and super friendly staff! I highly recommend to get any and all of your ice cream needs from here!
I really dont like giving 1 stars. But this place is in need of a new owner. We wanted to try an new ice cream stop. The ice cream is Lapperts (which I like) but the owner is a grouch. And the prices were ridiculous. Yes everyone has to make a living. But for a single scoop its 4.95. And its the tiniest single scoop Ive ever seen. (See attached photo).the ice cream tasted like its had frost bite on it. I think Ill stick to maui sweet shop down the road at kukui mall
Smallest scoop of ice cream ever! Got a 1 scoop in a waffle cone. The scoop didn’t fill the cone. You could look at the cone sideways and not see any ice cream. The gal scooping was in a hurry so not sure why it was so small.
Very popular spot. We got there on a midday just before the lines formed.Theres a wide selection of fanciful flavors. I went with the recommended local fave, a pineapple concoction that underwhelmed me.Ill try them again, tho. With so many flavors it warrants a second taste
Great ice cream slow service
My favorite ice cream shop on the island! 104 flavors of yogurt and it’s the best. Every time I’m in Maui I always try to stop in at least once. It was so nice to see the shop up and running during this difficult time.
If you’re in the mood for the worlds best ice cream with a small town feel this is the place for you! My wife and I think it was because of the adorable atmosphere and quaint lighting. The customer service is top-tier! I can’t recommend this place enough. Make sure it’s on your list of places to stop by
Great people and great ice cream at a great price. This is a no brainer to stop at if in the area.
We go there almost every day when we visit Maui! Great unique flavors. Delicious.
Great choices of flavors, and you get great service!! Strongly recommend!
Loved this little place. When they ask if you want sweet cream SAY YES!!
The best ice cream at the local area!
I really wanted to like this place since its in such a convenient place but we walked in and the owner lady was complaining loudly, sans mask, to another customer about covid mandates, and was pretty short and impatient with my parents who dont speak perfect English. They also didnt have too many ice cream flavors out.I do feel badly for restaurant and business owners and I can understand their frustration but as customers, we will also choose to keep our elderly parents safe and never set foot in there again. The parents have spent a lot of money to come here when they couldve gone anywhere else because it is so safe, and we will not be supporting businesses that are sabotaging a major selling point for Maui as a vacation destination. There are plenty of businesses which have adapted instead of resisting and getting bitter. And they look pretty hopping, like the shave ice places within a block of this place.
Great ice cream with a decent price. Coconut flavor tasted like a melted coconut itself. It was simply wonderful. The place itself may need a bit of cheer up colors and lighting but I do not care how the place looks like, i care about the quality of ice cream. Must stop in Maui.
I think the ice cream is good...but I dont need to listen to a political rant. Maybe you should just try and get another Guinness record and stick to your Nickelback infatuation. My guess is there all ALL TYPES of Americans that have paid your greens fees....
Loved the ice cream flavors
Great local ice cream shop. Friendly service, really good ice cream.
Frozen yogurt had a lot of flavors and is very delicious. Dole whip is meh, get something else.
If you like your ice cream with a dose of political bitterness, this is your place. The pandemic has been very difficult for all. If I’m spending money at your place, stick to the weather and ice cream.
I asked for mango ice cream. It was more like frozen puréed mango. Wasn’t creamy, more like ice. Don’t recommend at all.
Good icecream but spendy and inconsistent scoop size.
Its THE best waffle cones you can get on the island. The man who made the waffle cones in front of us was kind and made the experience fun. Its good to see that you cone hasnt been sitting for days waiting to be eaten. Having ice cream after a day of the beach and driving around felt amazing with heavenly ice cream.
Very cool beans indeed had the Lapert’s flavor that my whole family likes, because Laperts’s is closed.
Dole whip is phenomenal.
Loved this little place. We stopped every night after dinner. Owner is great and we chatted with him each night. Great ice cream and any flavor of frozen yogurt you can think of.
We where really looking forward to trying this place. I love exploring new ice cream shops when we are on vacation. Unfortunately this is one of the worst ice cream shops I have ever visited. If you were to ask yourself... How can I take all the fun out of an ice cream experience? Kihei aloha ice cream is the answer to that terrible question. Rude, and short with customers, the owner was terrible and should never be exposed to the public. The place is dirty and unkempt. I was considering getting shave Ice until I saw someone with it and it was definitely not shave ice, it look like crushed ice. They were out of at least three flavors of ice cream, the ice cream case was dirty on the interior which matched the walls and the rest of the dimly-lit shop. Its obvious that these people want nothing to do with anything but the money that this place generates for them. Please sell this to someone who will take care of the poor souls that will unknowingly wander into this place and leave dissatisfied. the only reason they dont get one star is because they dont make their own ice cream and theyre not responsible for the quality of it. Avoid at all costs!
Nice little shop with plenty of flavors and choices. Seating inside is pretty bleak and outside has two tables so if its busy at all youll be standing. Price is up there and the employee (possibly owner?) seemed to just want everyone to leave. His attitude was lackluster and seemed annoyed that people were there trying to enjoy their vacation with a little ice cream.Kids liked the ice cream.
The guy who runs the place in the evening couldn’t be any more rude if he tried, he’ll kill your aloha vibes before you ever order your ice cream. Avoid this place. Lots of other good spots in Kihei for ice cream and shaved ice
Contrary to the other reviews, we found the service to be friendly. The ice cream, however, was really bad. The soft-serve is a blend of vanilla frozen yogurt and a series of flavored natural syrups/concentrates. It was icey and didn’t taste like the real flavor (I ordered chocolate, and ended up with something that was a cross between chocolate and peanut butter. The hard ice cream looked much better, but we didn’t try it.Would not recommend for genuine soft-serve in Hawaii.
The ice cream is great but the start of the show is the only employee we saw in the building. He had a line out the door but he kept smiling and the line moving! Given we were about 12 people deep, we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. It was awesome.
The Aston Banyan condos located in Kihei Maui is a great place to vacation. Our grandson had an awesome time at the pool where he made alot of new friends who also were vacationing. The condo accommodated all four of us very nicely and if we wanted to eat in it had a full kitchen. There were many shops, entertainment & tours as well as many restaurants to choose from that had great food. If you wanted FRESH sea food, after 4PM at the Beach Bums restaurantwas the Catch of the Day, located at the harbor and a view of the ocean. Flavor of the fish was out of this world. Overall we love Maui, we will be back. We do have a time share at the Banyan - best investment we ever made.Harold & Sandy PearsonMilwaukee, WI
Ridiculous prices for average ice cream and a BELOW average experience. I could literally not believe how small the portion was. And I am a tourist willing to spend the extra $ and support local businesses! DON’T GO.
This little ice cream shop had wonderful flavors and awesome toppings. We went there two different times and left satisfied both. The owner is very friendly and moves really fast even when there is a crowd. It is rare to find such great ice cream on the island. My favorite is cookie dough or chocolate. They also make smoothies and shakes but we didnt try any.
Great variety of quality ice cream. Dont let the line of people that sometimes goes out the door discourage you. The single guy behind the counter is fast and efficient so the line moves pretty quickly. The coconut ice cream is one of the best l have had. Will definitely be visiting again.
Fantastic place. Very nice cold delicious ice cream. They have other stuff to so dont miss out. Stop in.
A local guilty pleasure spot with some cute ladies behind the counter! Both friendly and knowledgeable about what they serve you! Mahalo Kids!🍦🌺❤️ signed, evening coustomer
A great little hole in the wall ice cream shop. Super friendly service, no huge crowds and delicious ice cream. I will definitely be back for more!
Quite the entertainment while she is training a new guy!! Omg 5 of us came in the store and here he is brand new and she said you take care of these people. In the meantime she was telling him what to do. Listening to her giving him instructions on how to use yogurt machine! I was confused 🤷♂️. Poor guy!! Was not to relaxing. Good luck to the new guy!!
Lowdown... go to Maui Gelato instead-youll be happy you went elsewhere. The ice cream is good. The shaved ice is pathetic. Its small ice chunks, not snow. The flavors seem really watered down. They are strict about a two sample limit. We came with a family of five and they were not keen on samples. They let us have two total for our family of five. The prices are expensive and the sizes are small!
Got a strawberry cheesecake milkshake. Consisted of milk, fake ice cream, and a drop of strawberry syrup. No cheesecake flavor and no cheesecake mixed in. $9.32 for about 12oz of sub-par smoothie if you want to call it that. You should stick with the ice cream if you come here.
The ice cream is wickedly flavorful, the dipped cones are perfectly balanced with just the right amount of chocolate. But the five stars comes from their excellent service and attention. We were tourists during a time of flash flooding on Maui. While we were in the ice cream shop, an Emergency Alert came on the radio about the flooding. One of the owners talked with us about safe places to go and get food, and places that could become dangerous. A very Big Thank You to Aloha Ice Cream.
This shop is awesome! It has a wide range to select from, anything from ice cream to Dole Whip, to forzen yogurt and even shaved ice. I highly recommend this place and clearly others agree because it can build up a crowd pretty quick.
VERY pricey. We ordered single scoop and it did not come above the cone. Total price for two with a regular cone was just shy of $12.00. Ice cream was good, not fabulous. Service was fine but the price and volume do not add up to a return visit, will buy Ben and Jerrys for a portion of the price and a guarantee of quality.
Came here twice with my wife on our honeymoon. Amazing ice cream! Chris was awesome to deal with too. Highly Recommended!
The ice cream itself is really tasty (Lamperts ice cream) - but considering the small portion, this place is pretty expensive.Youre better off going to the Lamperts ice cream shop at Wailea shops. For the same price youll get a much larger serving and itll be a lot more friendly service.
All around great! Great service, great price and great treats!
Went there twice because I gave them the chance that the first time was just an off day. Flavor selection is great, plus they offer shakes and coffee drinks. Different ice cream, different day, different employee, same bad service. First, I dont like when servers offer items that are an additional charge without saying so (personal thing of mine). I know the prices are behind them on the wall but when Im asked what type of cone I would like, not being made aware that getting a cone is $1-$1.50 extra just bugs me. Second, one of our scoops was freezer burnt. Third the prices are extremely high, even for HI. Each scoop is $4.25, cones are extra, iced mochas are $7, etc. Third, ice cream should be FUN! In both visits the person working seemed to be bothered that we were even there. One time it was like we were a bother because we interrupted his cleaning (even though they didnt close for another 45 minutes). The other visit she just seemed to be bothered that my kids wanted to try flavors before ordering one.Overall nothing horrible, its just when spending $5 for a scoop of ice cream I expect them to be happy that I am giving them the business.
Dont go their if you try to loose weight. Delicious.
I went 2 days in a row ... ice cream was terrific!! The lady at lunchtime was so friendly. And the man late evening was so nice too!!I wish this small business much success!!!
Best ice cream in Kihei. We are here on our honeymoon and have had a cone every night. Great location, good service by the owners (they run it all by themselves by the way) and great flavors! Enjoy..
Love this place! We walked there multiple times during our stay. Pricey - maybe, but whatever... we were on vacation. If you think its too expensive, you probably dont need ice cream. I would definitely recommend this place! The owner is very nice!
Horrible experience. The owner is the rudest human being my family and I have come across. She needs to be in the background and not dealing with customers. As for the ice cream only one of us was satisfied. I do not recommend this placeand know this place will close soon.
Nothing special here, the only dairy-free option was the Dole sorbet(?) - what they serve at Disneyland. That comment didnt help me much either when I inquired what it was.
This was the first time i had different island flavor ice creams. I had a triple scoop and khalua pie was my favorite. We met the owner and his wife and both of them were very nice to us and were not locals. My suggestion is get the triple and share instead of two singles.
Dole whip! Oh and the ice cream was good, or so my family says.
The ice cream is delicious and the service good however the size of my sundae for $6 was ridiculous. Scoop of ice cream and whipped cream barely hit top of the small cup. My husbands $8 2 scoop was more reasonable but compared to the same price for ice cream we got in Lihaina, and else where, it was pitiful. Saw others with same small cup as mine and they looked fuller so may be bad luck.
Tasty ice cream - we enjoyed heavenly hana flavor !
Waffle cone was fresh not stale. Tasty scoop Ive cream!
5 dollars for 3 bites of ice cream. Find anywhere else.
Simple, tasty ice cream with chocolate and sprinkle dipped cones. Yummy!
The taste of Wailea in Kihei! Delicious and more reasonable than youd expect for such delicious concoctions.
Wish I had come here sooner. All this time I thought I had to go to Lapperts Wailea for my favorite ice cream, when this place was walkable to where I stay. Delicious, friendly, clean and convenient.
The servicer/owner did a great job and very friendly.
I get it dairy is super expensive in Maui, but I got 2 kids cones(which were a melon ball of ice cream) and 2 single (also literally a single scoop) cones for over $21. Seems excessive, and the ice cream was just ok.Also the lady behind the counter was kind of rude. There was nobody in the store (2pm on a Monday), and she asked what we wanted around 4 times. Each time telling us to take our time, then almost immediately asking what we wanted again. We were not slowing down the ice cream purchasing of any others parties as we were the only ones in there. I dont like giving out such low ratings, but I think the price and service warrant the rating. If the service wasnt so weird and pushy I probably would give it 3 stars.
Great ice cream if not a little xcy
The lady at the counter was super rude, after waiting for 10 minutes for our turn she showed a huge attitude as we asked to taste diff flavors. Also the ice cream seems to have artificial flavors and wasnt worth the wait or price! Most importantly they need to know how to interact with the customers. Try Banayan tree ice cream parlor in Lahaina and find the huge difference!
The ice cream was pretty standard and extremely expensive (but, again, that is to be expected!). It was also quite busy.
Decent ice cream. Stupid high prices.
The ice cream is really good. The service at night is unfriendly - not the kind of vibe you want on vacation.
The guy who owns this joint is rude and condescending to tourists. I was blown away by his total disdain for customers, especially kids.Prices are freaking ridiculous and he must get a lot of crap for it which probably accounts for the bad attitude. This establishment gives Maui and especially Kihei a bad vibe. Oh and the ice cream?......didnt get any because I refused to give this establishment a dime.....went next door and had a margarita! Aloha
The ice cream was very tasty. Employee wasnt that friendly.
Good ice cream. Many very interesting flavors.
Good customer service with a lot of flavor choices.
Good ice cream and friendly service, but found it pricey, even for Maui
Not good. Do not go here for milkshakes.
Good ice cream but price is really high for what you get...they also served me the wrong ice cream. Guy working also wasnt very friendly...would have gone somewhere else if they were open.
Not the best ice cream. The waffle cone was really thin. I guess this is why they sell broken cone pieces for $1. The ice cream tasted like it had freezer burn. Not what you want went your paying $6 for ice cream especially when there are many other better options near by. We went to Ona the a couple nights before in the next little shopping center and it was way better. Also they weight the ice cream scoops, comon really?
Same ice cream as Lapperts without having to pay for parking at Shops of Wailea. Friendly help. Love the coconut macadamia nut fudge crunch.....think thats what its called. Delish
Great Ice cream. We kept coming back.
Great spot to chill-axe
Great selection, good tasting ice cream.
Nice little ice cream shop.
Every time we go in we are greeted with a smileBest ice cream in Kihei.
It was good, but small portions and price was really high.
Friendly service but ice cream is just ok and pretty expensive.
Best ice cream on Maui!!!! Not kidding...made fresh🍦🍧🍨
Was just there tonight, the second time in 2 years and likely our last. Our first visit was ok, and we knew it was open late so we tried again. Right when we walked in it smelled like bad mop water. Shoulda left right then. Even though the ice cream might be a good quality brand, the stuff looked old. Not quite freezer burnt, but definitely not fresh. Yet they still like to charge 5 dollars per scoop. Even for the second, third or fourth scoops, all 5 bucks each. And they werent big by any means. I would estimate 4 to 5 ounce scoops (150ml max). Definitely not worth the time or money. Service was also mediocre at best. But actually, less than the local friendly service we have been blessed with throughout kihei and lahaina. If you are conaidering this place, i would recommend it only if you crave ice cream and nothing else is open. Even then, im sure you could walk into any close by restaurant (cafe o lei, or even dennys) and get a dessert for far less money (than my $12 portion) yet be much happier afterwards.
Ice cream was great prices are fair Chris was great wonderful place
Best service and ice cream on Maui!
