The selection here is amazing! The video game selection for current consoles is impressive. Same for past consoles as well. But it doesnt hold a candle to the vast number of board and card games! It gets better, there was a mistake I made with a purchase. The staff were extremely understanding and helpful. The issue was easily resolved, and they have earned a customer for life based just on that. Add to this that they helped me find a unique game and answered questions in other areas with careful consideration, and we have a perfect storm of great service, great selection, and great people!
I was so excited that I finally found a copy of Super Smash Bros. Melee and after I bought it I went home to the disc not working. I cleaned it and tried everything I could to make it work, but they sold me a $70 that clearly hasn’t been tested. Thanks a lot, because now I have to drive an hour back to Knoxville just to get my money back. Unbelievable.
Blunt but honest review*** intended for new/ inquiring shoppers or gift shoppers for gamers****Once a great GAME store - CM Games, in recent years, has become a simple over priced knick knacks/ plushie store. The do offer video games and consoles/ board games/ card games but all at the HIGHEST marked retail price. (Even on used equipment and games)If thinking about going here instead consider-McKays for purchasing used games and equipment at an extremely reasonable priceLevel Up game store- for supplies of magic the gathering (they pull from stock all day every day, on walk in. (Like CM use to)).Also recommended for board games and role playing game supplies. Prices are somewhat lower depending on item. For nerdy plushy I would save a trip and use Wish or Amazon instead. Delivery fees included will still get it to your door at a more reasonable price.CM Games used to be an amazing GAME SHOP, now presents itself as more of a bad toy store with no more interest in its frequenting card players. They dont tend to give reasonable used price discounts on used items. The unwillingness to pull any magic the gathering cards* unless ordered online the day before* is what finally lost my business. what pulls I ever did need were needed when visiting to play tournaments. And what was found to be needed was usually in those last seconds before the start of tourneys. This service is now impossible to get there and so I feel unable to play there knowing I cant come straight in after work and make adjustments to my deck before playing in paid games.I again suggest Level up for having the availability to meet these needs seemingly willingly and pain free. Pulls from back stock any time the need arises. Good game nights, prize support.POSITIVE NOTE- Staff is ALWAYS full of friendly salesmen offering to help you find what youre looking for. They all have very pleasant attitudes, and seem to enjoy their occupation.2 stars for staff friendliness and willingness to help.1 star for cleanliness.-1 for Outrageous prices on used and new items-1 for lack of patience/ care/ time and effort put into needs and care of card playing customers.
Great place to buy and sell games and consoles! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I always stop by here whenever I am at the mall. They have a great selection of items to choose from.
Buyer beware. They will try and sell you games as complete with Cover Art they printed out on regular paper. Do not be fooled and stay clear of this fraudulent practice.
I would give zero if it was an option. The staff was no help and when my daughter got the wrong game we tried to return it an hour after purchase ( hadn’t even left the mall yet) they got rude and said can only return for credit or new game. If that’s the policy then they need to have a sign visible at the counter or tell you because all the gentleman at the counter said was “ you can return this within 7 days” and that was all, nothing else. 100% lost our business.
This shop is AMAZING. I LOVE that they have all these old pokemon packs as well as the Earthbound and retro SNES games
I think this is the only store in the Knoxville area that has a disc buffer-- which will eliminate most heavy scraches from DVDs and video game discs. Ive been calling around to every video store, Walmart & GameStop before I found this place. And $2.99 is a fair price for this service.Their selection is varies from found on the Walmart shelf to extremely rare collectables. For video games, they have various cartridges from Atari to todays disc games. They expanded their board game, card game and collectable toy selection. They offer competitive pricing, widely below GameStop rates. They even have a back section of their store for open play card tables and tournaments. The store is decently organized and very clean. The staff are especially helpful.
Great deals and selection on tabletop games, but if youre after retro videogames, they are overpriced.
For it to be a place with tons of traffic they stay organized. Always greeted when I come in and feel welcome. I go here to buy alot of my yugioh card packs and just browse their single cards that have displayed. They also have a very cool selection of video games and collectibles. Very cool place to go. Would recommend to any gamers visiting Knoxville.
I dont get stuff from here often but the employees always come to check up on me and see if I need a anything. Very considerate! I like to browse a lot of the games and not actually buy anything. I saw these two pokemon plush in there recently and had a good laugh. Dont worry, the disformed looking leafeon is SUPPOSED to look like that.
I traded in a ps3 with four games and an extra controller. I GOT 70 BUCKS. That is not what me and my brother were expecting. They gave us 60 bucks for the system. When they said I’d get at least 30% and 60 is not 30% of 200 bucks that they priced it... They gave me 10 bucks for the games. And nothing for the extra controller. I suggest to not trade there and ether go to McKay’s or GameStop you will get way better deals. I am very mad because of this but I’m glad I went to learn about this. So hopefully this will help others...
Every time I go in there the employees make me feel very uncomfortable asking me if I need anything about 6 times in a 10 min experience. I use to work retail and know the tactics im assuming they treat everyones as a thief 🤔? On top of the fact that they NEVER answer theyre phones. The one time I was told they had 4 of something i get there less then 5 minutes later and theyre gone... like did you even checks? Tf? Its a problem in leadership at this location witch sucks cause cm games is set up for success with the continuing down fall of gamestop. The company good, the leadership and team not so much
I would give zero stars if I could. I had over 1,000 magic cards, 3 dice, two big deck boxes and one small deck box. They told me cuz its a bunch they could only give me 6 dollars for it all. Then I get home only to find out they stole one of my deck boxes and some of my cards. They will try to rip you off. Dont sell anything to them. As soon as I can Im reporting this to there manger.
Extremely professional customer service. The manager was absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to help me out, as well as the rest of the staff. Thank you!!
Its a pretty nice shop with a lot of different options when it comes to video games, trading cards, DnD, and collectables; but the store manager comes off very hostile and rude. The last time I went I asked him if he could get me with a tcg booster box from behind the counter. He said Yea, started walking and then turned around to tell another employee across the store to help me instead. Thats fine because I just thought he was busy so I follow the kid helping me so I can show him what I wanted. When I get my booster box the manager starts scolding him for letting me select a rare card that comes with the box. I felt really bad for the kid so I just told him that its okay and I still appreciated him helping me. After all that we went to check out and I hear that same manager chewing out an employee over what he heard as a rumor in front of a set of customers he was helping.Hopefully that manager (or supervisor) sees this review and if so, maybe in the future you can treat your employees like people and if you need to punish them do it in the back away from customers.
Ive been to both their locations and this one is by far the better location of the two. My only issue is with their website and cataloging. The website still shows Aether Revolt and Amonket as the newest sets they have available, even those those sets were from like 2017. Trying to find cards through the website is a pain, probably should focus on that a little bit. Especially nowadays with COVID and the way people are having to adapt their shopping habits. Never had a problem with attitude or bad customer service.
Stood there waiting for anybody too noticed me had workers walk around me so I was ignored on purpose not trying to play the race card but what else could it be I was the only one standing by the cards for like 20 minutes while they just chatted
The selection and pricing are amazing. But, one time I purchased some slime that was moldy and I feel more could have been done to prevent moldy slime from making it out onto the shelves.
These guys are awesome. They resurfaced a game for me today that was scratched and couldn’t be read. The game worked perfectly. I ordered it online sight unseen and it’s one of the most impossible games to find right now, NCAA Football 2014. The seller sold it to me for $140 but didn’t tell me there was a giant scratch that made it not work. So for $3 and some change, these guys helped me not waste my mo yes and for that I say thank you.
They have a friendly staff, wide selection of card and board games, and a positive community. I’ve never felt unwelcome and as soon as you walk in the staff greets you and asks if they can help. Prices are also reasonable. If you can, support this local game store.
Need to update hours. [Edit] Thanks for updating hours! :)
Bought a console from these guys, it clearly says mIni SNES classic on sticker and receipt, it is by FAR not the classic edition. It’s some bogus third party edition that they try to pass off. Even when we bought it, they said it was the classic and not some Japanese edition of the classic. Had it for a couple days and we played it once, took it back within fourteen days and they refused to even give me store credit, let alone I didn’t even want a refund. I used to get from these guys, but consider me a lost consumer, not that they’ll care, but watch out for these guys, very sneaky! I will never purchase there again. Sad stuff
Store had a surprising amount of space, as well as a wide selection of cards. I shopped for mtg and heard theyre a good store for mtg tournaments. Just that nobody fires drafts in the area. Otherwise, the place had selections for most formats, lots of sleeves/deckboxes, and seemed to have a loyal crowd. Id recommend checking it out if youre into mtg or other board games/card games
This store is amazing. The staff is very helpful. My husband and I were new to playing Magic and Pokemon and they were very helpful in explaining the games and getting us started.
Came in here just to browse and look, and met a very friendly staff member who was very helpful and very passionate about what he did and really gave us a great first experience in his store. I didn’t get his name but he and all the other staff members were beyond great
The manager at this particular location is incredibly rude. He actually told me to take my business elsewhere. They post signs regarding sales but don’t specify what is on sale and what’s not. I don’t know that I’ve had a worse experience in my life regarding retail as I had today. I’ll never shop there again. If they can’t do right by honoring the sales they’ve posted, why do they deserve any of my money? Especially after me being polite, then being told if the manager were me “ he’d just take his business elsewhere” That’s piss poor customer service on every level.
A little overpriced on their collectibles. Its still fun to walk through their museum and see if you have any of their treasures at home. Recently their used video game prices have been incredibly reasonable.
In the pictures for the store it shows multiple shelves of Funko Pops so I drove an hour to visit. The entrance was nothing like the pictures showed. There were only maybe 20 Funko Pops in store. Update your pictures.
Poor service. Took my grandson to pick up some Pokeman cards and the man behind the counter sat on the computer and ignored us, no offer of help. When my grandson was ready to buy his cards he asked the man for help and was told “in a minute” as he continued on his computer. After waiting a few minutes we left, no purchase made. I may be old school but I think it’s bad business when your face in a computer is more important than a paying customer.
Horrible service. I waited at the counter for 10 minutes waiting for someone to help me. During this time, I overhead what I assumed to be a manager talking to his employee about how lazy some of the workers were. Not only was this unprofessional, but it was true.Once someone did help us, I proceeded to buy a significant amount of sealed product equating to hundreds of dollars (for which I have the receipt if anyone would like proof). The worker helping me did not assist in any meaningful way other than grabbing the product off the shelf. He did not know prices and was generally confused. To top it all off, on his way to the counter with my purchase, he looked to who I had assumed to be the manager and said This is the kind of sale we need to extract from people. This is where I became furious. No one at this store extracted anything from me, and it is extremely unprofessional to say that in-front of a customer, especially after such horrible service. If my 10 year-old nephew had not been there and wanted the items, I would have never of completed my purchase. Please STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. If you want to buy some items they have, I would say find them somewhere else, so purchase them online. HORRIBLE SERVICE, and extremely rude. Will not be visiting again.
My local CM Games in Maryville TN has a Skylanders section does this location and Cedar Bluff have Skylanders as well?
Great store with great products! The service however is something awful at West Town Mall. I have gone into this location several times due it the fact it’s closest to me. Every time I walk in I am ignored by whoever is working even when I ask for assistance I get a “I’ll be right with you” and stand there for 20 minutes while they talk to every male in the store not even about something in the store. I do not recommend the West Town location.
Staff is really friendly. We sold back a bunch of games, they worked fast, and gave us a lot more than GameStop would have. The store itself has a lot of really cool stuff too.
Do not trade in here they will try to rip you off.Gamestop gives better prices. Prices are ridiculously high. Better off at gamestop or Ebay.
Friendly and helpful staff if they dont have what your needing they help you find it
If they had a proper return policy it would at least be a decent store. This particular location has obvious problems. Didnt leave email address to contact
They have a ton of games, but the prices of everything are horrible!! Way over priced, they have 10 copies of a game that should be no more than $10, and charge 25 to 30. Sales have to be horrible here they will not be around much longer.
I love this store. Ive been a customer for nearly ten years, and they have always accomodated my nerd needs.I HIGHLY recommend their business!
Nice little gaming place for your game needs and your Magic needs. The staff hasnt been rude once since weve visited. If you need some Vinyl pops, they have a big selection.
Best game store ever! My son and I had a blast finding things that we couldnt find online for our older systems.
Pretty great selection of single cards and figures with a game room. It was a pretty great place to visit.
Great inventory and very friendly staff. Every time I come into the store it always has new stuff. Its nice to see a store that consistently gets new merchandise. If you are in the area and like games of any kind I recommend you check this place out.
They will always get my business over places like Gamestop and Amazon. Friendly staff that will do everything they can to help you out. Wish they had their own building where they could set the hours rather than being stuck in the mall because I feel like they could do a lot of amazing things with the space if there werent lease restrictions in place.
The gentleman Isaac was amazingly helpful. He was helping me find magic cards for my son. He took so much time to help me. The store was so busy and he never made me feel rushed or he was to busy.
Great selection of mtg cards, board games, and pretty much every other kind of game.
There’s someone that works there named Andrew and he just helped me find a game that I hadn’t played since 4th grade, off of little to no information. He was SUPER helpful and I’ll be coming back here for anything gaming because of helpful faculty like that.
Pretty small selection of mtg singles, big selection of sealed product. Staff arent the friendliest.
Best card store around the community for Friday night magic is a bit toxic though.
They trade better than GameStop, nuff said.
Large selection of card games, boardgames, and video games. Good to have a friendly MTG tournament or other table top games. My go to store for resold second hand video games.
Board game nerd heaven, decent prices too!
Real dank yo. Check out to this spot if ya can. Peace
CM Games has a good selection of video games and board games, and some neat game-related stuff like models, toys, puzzles, etc. Avoid Friday nights after 6 because it gets really busy with Magic: the Gathering players.MTG Players! CM Games has lots of free events throughout the week, including Standard and Modern, and their payout is pretty good. They also have a very wide selection of cards (PS: not everything is in their cases). HOWEVER, their play space is REALLY cramped, which makes larger events like FNM very frustrating. Im pretty sure theyre breaking some kind of fire code...
As always a great place for magic the gathering and soon DND too.
Very friendly and informative staff with nice selection of magic and pokemon packs/ singles. Pricing was very reasonable as well. Highly recommended!
Very helpful staff, unfortunately they didnt have the cards I wanted but they do have a wide variety of cards. I would give them more money if I didnt need food!
The staff is terrible one employee I liked he was cool and now he’s gone those employees are rude and don’t know how to handle customers problems properly hopefully my info gets to higher management and they get much better coaching the guy at cedar bluff was very nice helping me with the whole situation. West town cm games. Be like cedar bluff.
A great store ruined by a poor policy.I bought a very expensive gaming system new, spending over $500 total with games and peripherals. The system worked for less than ten hours before it began to malfunction.I hoped they could exchange the system because they had sold us a lemon. They will not let you exchange or return systems bought new. When I contacted the manufacturer they were surprised that the store wouldnt take the system back considering how little time we had owned it. They covered it under warranty but total time without a BRAND NEW SYSTEM will be close to a month, maybe more when it is all said and done.If Id bought a $40 board game? Sure. If Id bought a used system? Sure. Spend $535 on a console, games, and peripherals? Youre worthless.I purposely bought local because I am a strong believer in that. But I believe that best buy, Walmart, or even GameStop wouldve taken care of me better.Ive been a consistent customer of CM games. Never again.
This store is sweet! Their selection of games is insane! All the different card games are too much to handle! They are guaranteed to beat GameStops trade-in prices so why keep spending money on the power up bonus over there???
Store policy punishes legit customers. Lost receipt. Item was brand new plush they sell. Refused return stating I couldnt prove it wasnt beyond 7 days of purchase.
Good place to browse. Good place to be a gamer.
It is so much more than a store, if you play card games they have events there, and this place has become a safe haven, and a family to me.
Great selection of games and systems to buy however this store sells Chinese knockoffs and says they are legit. I inquired about any Classic systems, like the NES, SNES, and Playstation Classic. A store associate directed to me the section where they keep their knockoffs and told me that their 500in1 NES and SNES knockoffs were indeed the Classics. These Chinese knockoffs do not have the Nintendo Seal of Approval, after a minute of trying to calm down I politely tell him that those are not the authentic ones and instead are knockoffs. The associate stayed quiet and didnt say anything else after. I left extremely upset that this store would purposefully mislead and exploit customers like that. This is not the only case. They have a bunch of knockoffs of Game Boys, Xbox Ones, NES, SNES, and GBAs. Some of which are showcased in glass what they look like on the side of the store.Do not recommend as who knows how many parents they might have sold this stuff to for their kids, only for their kids to be disappointed with what they got.
This place is awesome and the staff is always friendly and helpful!!
Great place. I only use CM Games to buy video games and cards. Freindly staff.
Good selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Manager was aggressively rude after asking a question about trade in price quoted. He blew up at me and my brother swearing and cussing at us asked us to leave. We asked if we could speak to the owner and for his name and his response was Ill give you my address. Completely unprofessional wouldnt recommend to anyone horrible customer service....However directly after me and my brother went to the one off Cedar Bluff and talked with the Manager at that location. He was extremely helpful, we explained to him the experience we had at West Town. He looked over our card quoted us a completely different price (which was more) and explained what cards where worth what and what ones they would just buy a bulk pricing. Looking foward to hearing from the owner was told best chance to reach him was at the West Town Mall location in the mornings.
This was our first time to CM games and we will not be returning. We also put our items back on the shelf after a very snobbish, rude boy told my daughter with autism that all three giant Pikachus were not for sale, after the first employee we asked said they were and theyre $200. My daughter was diagnosed with autism at the age of two, and unlike very snobbish, rude boys she doesnt understand when she cannot have something, especially when she knows and is aware that we are in a mall and shopping center where she registers, This is where you buy stuff. My daughter has loved Pikachu since she has 9 and has always had a version of a stuffed animal with him, everywhere we go. Upon waking up this morning, my daughter has not slept, is still crying from when we left the store yesterday and its all because I was lied to that they were for sale. I DO NOT recommend shopping here, unless you want to be disrespected, and disregarded.
Great store. Friendly staff. Ive been coming here for years and know most everyone.
Nice, helpful people and a plethora of fun, nerdy things
Awesome service, had a bad experience with their cedar bluff store but these guys are awesome, got my business from GameStop thanks guys!! Only thing I wish you guys did were pre-orders!!!
CM Games is easily one of the most benevolent small companies Ive ever run across in my customer experience. The more I learn about this company and what they do for the community, the more happy I become as a regular customer. Their selection of video games and TCG is unmatched. Come check them out at West Town Mall across from FYE.
Its always fun to go to CM Games if youre planning on just looking. They have a huge collection of retro games for pretty much any console, but the main problem is that all the games are extremely overpriced. If you want to get some cash for your old games, do not bring them here. Places like CM Games and Gamestop give you pocket change for your games, compared to how much theyre actually worth. Before you sell anything here, look it up on eBay, and see how much its worth. Then youll see how little they give you compared to the actual value. Its really not that hard to sell on eBay, so if you want money for your games, sell them online. Ive already stated all the bad things about CM Games, but that doesnt mean theres nothing good about the place. Its a really cool environment to be in. Theres games, action figures, cards, and everything in between covering every inch of the store, its really cool. Whenever you go, you almost always see a bunch of nerds sitting at a table having a good time playing D&D, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc. Speaking of card games, CM Games is a great place to go for that. Theyve got a bin filled with MTG cards. You pick the ones you want and you can buy them for a few cents each. You can also get other supplies such as dice sets, deck boxes, card sleeves, etc, for a really good price here. While CM Games isnt the cheapest game store in town, Its still really fun to go to. You could literally spend hours at a time in this store looking through buckets of MTG cards, playing card games and video games with people, or marveling at the extremely expansive and rare retro games they have. Would recommend, but not if youre planning on selling. I might have seemed negative about the pricing of games here, but its not really that overpriced. Its a good place to go for games because you know they will most likely have what youre looking for in good, tested condition.
Cool dudes, good deals, great variety
Good games and selection through older stuff but some of staff is too busy too look up a trade in, I know GS will at least take the time to help out...
Awesome Staff. Wonderful prices and very helpful
Nice and clean decent amount of games
My inner nerd went crazy. Epic store
A dream spot for any gamer. Table top games, video games, card games and more.
The clerk was very nice and helpful even though they had just opened. I was kinda disappointed that they dont accept collectables.
Awsome store outstanding staff and fair prices love the selection of retro video games and over awsome video games also dont forget to mention the board games and they have the best selection of pop vinyl figures Also good items for people like me who colecting and adore all things nintendo and over cool stuff have bought video games and some other awsome items there by far my favorite video game store ever!!!! Also beter selection of stuff than gamestop
Fun little gaming shop for retro gamers, and card gaming enthusiast.
Over priced on some collectables, stays true to what has made them a success though(card games and more)
Went in to trade a PS4 slim 1 TB with an extra controller & some games. They offered us $219 trade in credit. We were wanting the Xbox One S but all they had was the 500 GB version (hot wheels edition) for $279.99. We asked if they would price match and they wouldn’t claiming that game stop would not have the system in store. Long story short, we went to gamestop in the mall, they gave us $261 for the PS4 trade in with games and they had the Xbox One S 1TB PUBG bundle (yes the 1 TB) for $249. I have no idea how a system with a better game and twice as much storage would be $30 cheaper than the one mentioned above from CM Games. So is you want a way better deal go to game stop.I will add that the front counter person was very professional and friendly and helpful which is why I’m giving a 2 Star instead of 1. It may just be that the store is not able to compete and not necessarily the sales people.
Legendary selection, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Love this place.
In all honestly, I only ever come in here to scoff at how overpriced everything retro is here compared to Game Haven (yes theyre still open theyre just by east town now) and Replay on Western Avenue. Make sure before you buy anything retro that you look the price up online first. I only ever actually buy anything here if its newer, an essential like a charger or or if GameStop is my only other option. Only reason Im giving them two stars is Ive only had good experiences with the actual employees. The owners are the problem, who think its ok to insult customers intelligence by trying to sell a SNES for $80 when Game Haven has it for around $45, an N64 for $300-400 when its just a pretty color and you can find it online or anywhere else for much less, and a $700 Mario game for the SNES thats been there for four years that you can easily find for about $70 online.
Vintage NES, SNES, Game Boys and most all gaming consoles, plus a huge selection of games to go with them. Also carries Magic, Pokemon and other card games.
Great selection of classic video games
This place rocks. Great selection of current and retro games at a cheaper price than Gamestop, without all the upselling! Theyve got Yugioh, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and board games for every other kind of gamer out there. I love shopping and playing there!
Great variety. A little pricey.
Card Monster games sells everything from Gameboy games to the latest Xbox release, and everything in between. You can find Magic cards, Pokemon cards, board games, and even a few figurines. While everything is expensive, you can trade or sell certain items, such as cards or games. You can also play card games in the back, or come on the weekend for various Pokemon and Magic tournaments.
Bought 14 packs at the rate of $7.99 a piece and didnt pull one EX or full art.. the short red hair dude is always nice and goes beyond to help but no more spending my hard earned money on over priced and possibly weighted packs. Bought 2 packs off eBay for 5.99 after I didnt pull anything and pulled a EX in both packs! Not to mention my early days as a customer I took over 1000 cards and fifty plus Holos from base set and was quoted 30 bucks lol as the employee was eye balling half my cards for his personal use
Awesome place to go and get old school games and all their new games are cheaper than gamestops! I went in to gamestop to get a used copy of grand theft auto v and it was over $40! i walked not even 5 minutes through the mall and stumbled upon this place and it was $5 cheaper!! Screw gamestop, cm games baby!!!!1
Enjoyed my time here. Staff was friendly
Best selection of card singles in the area and they are competitively priced. Friday night magic is always a blast
This store has all the games I can think of and more that I cant! If you play cards they carry everything from Magic to Yu-Gi-Oh to Pokemon, and they always have a great supply of each! Guaranteed to be a a great shop and they have tournaments with great prize support for you!
They are ripoffs 10cents for a game that they have $14 bucks on will never go back. We sold them a game for $8 and went back to look for more games we saw the one we sold them they had $50 on it. Very unhappy with this place
I bought some games that were in good condition and the workers were friendly.
