My car needed a new catalytic converter and these guys helped me so much. The price was definitely reasonable and affordable especially compared to other places who quoted me ranging from $650 to $900. Theyre very kind and they dont take advantage of people with little knowledge about cars. I highly recommend this place!

Very bad experience at this place. Ive wanted to get some work done on my bmw for some time now to make it sound nicer, which ive never had exhaust work done on any car before, i stopped by this shop. I guess because I pulled up in a nice car they could inflate the prices? Anyways he suggest i pull out all of the mufflers (the two back and the middle resonator), and he assured it wouldnt drone. To take out the mufflers, these thieves charged me $200. His excuse was that they couldnt hang down, obviously, so he had to put in hangers (which were two small pieces of metal). I leave the shop, it drones like hell. So no way in hell ill return to this shop. I took it to Mighty Muffler off western ave and they honestly hooked me up with great work. They even showed me the poor welding job done by Kar Kare. he only welded the parts that were visible and didnt bother doing the other side.So he charged $200 to put nothing in but two small hangers, and did a poor job of it. And he wanted an extra $100 for new tips, which i opted out of. Guys, do yourself a favor and go to mighty muffler. great guys doing great work.

Called 2 big name muffler shops and they wouldn’t even consider giving me a estimate over the phone. My Grand Cherokee is as stock as can be so just looking for stock replacement. Kevin at Kar Kare asked a couple questions and gave me an estimate. Come to find I only need a muffler, no pipes, so cost me 1/2 of the estimate. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Now, are use them for other work. Plus they play God-honoring music instead of the typical mind-melt stuff, which to me reflects well on them. Just good business.

I went in to get my Versa looked at, it was making an awful noise and Versas have a habit of having the exuast pipe come loose. Went in he looked at it figured out it was a loose bolt. He could have lied and said it was more than that and charged me for whatever and I wouldnt have known the difference. Super honest people and helped right away unlike the last place I went. If I ever have any issues I will be going back here.

This place is the bomb!! No wonder the other auto repair shops refer everyone here when its exhaust related. My first quote from another repair place was 5x their price, and a weeks wait to order parts. The free estimate on walk up, to completion was less time that it took me to drive across town from my home. Great job, Ill be back, and Ill send everyone I know!

Brought my car in and they got it up in the air within 30 seconds. Told me everything that was wrong with it. Gave me a price but they were more than willing to work with my budget when most places wont. Will definitely be my go to place for my car.

They did a good job on my exhaust except for the custom clearance (smashing my brand new header with a hammer) and not re attaching the bracket that holds my power steering pump in place. So down the road one of the other bolts finally snapped on my water pump because they didnt put it back together. Now I have to put a water pump on my truck. Gee thanks. Make sure to look over their work.

At Kar Kare on Kingston Pike in Knoxville they were able to quickly fix my broken exhaust on my full size pickup at a very fair price. The techs appeared to be very knowledgeable and I received courteous customer service here as well. Best of all she purrs like a kitten now. Thank you so much Kar Kare Muffler & Shock Center.

Beware when you take your car here to get a muffler, this guy is definitely going to try to sell you a catalytic converter. Hell say he ran a quick test and your catalytic converter is stopped up. You feel kind of low on power going up hills sometimes? hell say. Unless you drive a brand new car, you probably do feel low on power sometimes. I let him install one, but I know how much used catalytic converters are worth because of the precious metals inside them, especially factory original units on foreign cars. He refused to let me have my old catalytic converter back, saying some garbage about a 30 day waiting period. I drive an older BMW so that cat was worth at least $100 to a scrap yard.I was furious, this guy is selling people on cheap new catalytic converters and making thousands of dollars every month by scrapping his customers factory catalytic converters and not telling them! Most people dont know theyre worth a lot of money and they dont ask for the old one back, and when they do ask he wont give it to them.This guy ran me an entirely new exhaust system and my BMW sounds every bit as loud as when it came in the shop. It idles like an old 1970s Chevy with a worn out muffler. These guys suck! If you get a new catalytic converter, ask him for your old one and watch what he says. Its YOUR PROPERTY and he wont give it back to you. Hes a thief.

Came in to have a rattle on my exhaust fixed. I had a idea of what it was and told them what i wanted done. They said well look at it. Said they bent the exhaust hanger that was rattling on the frame, but within half a hour of driving the rattle returned. 2 stars because they did not charge me, would have been 1 otherwise. Did not return to have my brakes done because of this even though the price was very reasonable. My point in this review was i wanted specific work done they didnt seem to want to do, and what they said they fixed was not actually fixed.

My exhaust system was pulled toward the rear because of hitting something on the road. They showed me under the car that the flex pipe was stretched and needed replaced. Fixed very quickly (welding involved) and the price was very reasonable (IMO). Dont be fooled by the not fancy small shop. They know what they are doing (I am an ex-mechanic who has done this work.) A number of auto repair shops in the area refer exhaust work to Kar Kare (Free Service referred me.)

I will never use another muffler shop besides this one. Not only do they do great work their customer service can’t possible get any better. I’ve had muffler work done on multiple vehicles and anytime a bracket has popped off or an issue occurred they fixed it no charge. Highly recommend for any muffler/exhaust issue. You will be glad you chose this shop.

Was quoted a price over the phone for my H2 and when I got there he upped the price by $100 dollars. Very unprofessional and has no clue on proper customer service. $250 to wield in a muffler. Funny thing I had my f150 done for less than $75.

I took my 2012 Kia Soul to this place on Tuesday Jan 21 2020. I ran thru a construction entrance last week and got bogged down. The next week my exhaust starting making a terrible noise. I took it to Kar Kare and they put my car up on the lift and said I needed a new converter and some pipe installed. They wanted to charge me $600 for everything. I decided to get a second opinion. Thank goodness. I took it to Quick O muffler on Magnolia. They put the care up on lift and noticed I had some rocks stuck in the undercarraige which was the cause for the noise. Kar Kare should be ashamed of telling me I had a crack in my converter. If you go to Kar Kare please before you let them do anything get a second opinion.Buyer beware. Total rip off.

These guys did great work for me when I was back in HS. 5 years later I go back in to have tips welded on my car and he’s was tying to charge me $175 for not even 3 feet of pipe. Went over to mighty muffler on western and they did the same for with the same diameter piping I wanted for $75.

This is the only truly honest repair shop I know of in Knoxville. So few have integrity these days, but this is a good one! I’ve been going here for years. They replaced my shocks on my Honda, did good exhaust work on my Mazda, and just welded a broken door hinge on my Jeep!

My son took his truck there to get work done. He was over charged and the quality of the work was sub par. I gave them an opportunity to correct the defects and do a proper job, but they wanted to charge me again. The new charges almost equalled the original bill. I took it to another shop to have the work corrected. Advise your children to stay away or they will be taken advantage of.

My car was overheating. Two service technicians looked under my hood to see what was causing this. Even though it was closing time, they still took the time to assist me. Great guys. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing place. Went in for what I thought was a simple repair. Turned out to be a bad converter. They worked with me so well in getting everything replaced. I not only no longer have a knocking noise but I now have power going uphill again. Anyone who needs any exhaust work done needs to come here. Thank you guys so much for helping me. Came here to get some muffler work done. Is particular with it because it was an after market exhaust. This store had the highest review in the area to the number of people who reviewed it. Was quoted on the work and I told them that I would not be able to do every thing in a day. At no time was I pressured to get other jobs done. I told them what I wanted to get fixed and they did just that. Price was fair and the job so far is holding up well. I would definitely come back for future work.

Ive had exhaust work done here about 4 or 5 times and each time its been inexpensive (Sometimes dirt cheap) and done within the hour. The employees are pretty cool and the lobby has some neat displays of exhaust equipment.

Joo u r gr8tMy car was getting sound like motor boat while gving gas acceleration.....tooo louderThey hv taken just 2 min to analyse & cause was ... some plug loosely connected near catalic convert exost system.....Then within just 5 min they have fixed the issue.....Entire analysis & fixing the issue they hv done free of cost .... without taking any money...... just awesome experience.I would recommend all of my friends to cm here without any hazitation.If you hv any problem related to exosts & break.... dont think 2nd time.... just cm here.

I have been using Kar Kare for past four years to service my old 98 Toyota Camry for non-critical repairs. The place is reasonable. Prices are not the lowest, in fact a few miles off in Harriman or Crossville one can get cheaper service. But their service is fast. I got my mufflers, silencer pipe and gaskets changed by them twice, and once I got my rear brakes replaced. The quality of parts are reasonable and commensurate for the price you pay - they are 50% lower than dealership prices. When they replaced my rusted mufflers, I wasnt happy with the noise the new ones they provided made, so I complained a couple of days later, they changed the muffler to a different variety for no cost. It did improve the noise. It is still not as silent as my old OEM mufflers, but the noise is now acceptable. Overall I would recommend them.Update: Within 2000 miles of driving the sound from the muffler got louder and louder!! Now the sound of the car is getting very annoying.I was also told by my mechanic that they should not have replaced an OEM muffler to their aftermarket parts without asking me first. That was indeed not why I had taken the car to them, I was there to just fix a leak on the exhaust.With that, it eroded quite a bit of confidence on their work. I am downgrading them to 3 Star.

Insanely high pricing. Went to a different muffler shop in Maynardville and got my exhaust repiped for half the price.

Fixed quick and super reasonable. Will use them again. Truck was sluggish and they diagnosed clogged cats and had it fixed in an hour.

Rebuilt my exhaust in a few hours but entire system needed to be replaced a year later. Current rebuilders commented on the duct tape and coat hanger nature of previous build.
