I get it, there is a shortage and you can really do whatever you want. 1 order got split to 4 drops, every single drop they didnt call when they were coming to drop off the lumber. Asked them after first load if they could give me heads up. Said nope, adds time and frustration to drivers. It just gets put in the road, unbundled and falling over itself. Trex, scratched up, not a straight 2x4, 2x12s split 3 feet in. Good time to be a lumber salesman.
I used to get great service from burton lumber. Now every time I call I get the run around and a bit of attitude from them. I never get the answers I am after and end up leaving a phone number and never hear back from them. If I do hear back it is days or weeks later and I have already had to use someone else. It’s a shame to see this once local and helpful company grow to a point that they forgot who made them who that are.
I called the Layton Burton Lumber 35 min before closing time to see if they stocked and had on hand, a few Simpson fence brackets that I needed. The gentleman I spoke with said yes they had those in stock. I confirmed their closing time and told the guy great, Ill leave right now and come pick them up before you close! (I live about 20 min away.)So, I just arrived and after a brief look around the showroom, I asked a guy at a desk for help (he didnt bother asking if I needed help when I entered) and told him what I was looking for. His reply: we dont carry those in stock, but I can order them for you. He said it would take a few days to get them in. I expressed my disappointment for being told I could pick them up today and rushing to make it there before they closed. He didnt even offer an apology. He just said oh, maybe someone from another location [that I presume happened to be working at this location today] answered the phone and thought we had those, but we dont.I am all about supporting small business. Thats a big part of why I wanted to shop there anyway. I know that a few brackets are just a drop in the ocean as far as profit is concerned, but when I spend thousands of dollars a year on building materials, it doesnt make me want to do business with them again.Ive used them in the past, but that almost does it for me now. Whereas I have paid more to shop there and support a small business, I will only use them in the future if they are beating all other competitors on price. Cause they surely aren’t beating anyone on service.Just my $.02 -Maybe all its worth to them, but to other potential customers, be aware.
We are building a home in Davis County and Burton Lumber has been great to work with for lumber, windows and finish material. Tom Burton has been great to work with on getting competitive pricing and finding the right material we need quickly! We will be using Burton the next time we build.
Love this place. Always there to help you with the best prices and quality lumber.
We used Burton for our lumber and materials to build our house. Our sales rep was Tom Burton and he freaking went above and beyond to help us. I feel like I should have paid him to be our general contractor haha. Totally will be lifetime customers for sure.
Way overpriced. Check Home Depot or Lowes first. I understand trying to shop local business but you have to price fairly and according to the market. Maybe contractors and builders have a better relationship with them, and get better pricing. I do not know about that aspect of it although I have worked in construction.
Tami is awesome, I needed to order a Cascade window trim piece. All I had to go off of was a picture of the broken one. She contacted the rep, sent me the quote and had it order all in the same day. Great customer service experience
Brett was great to work with and very outgoing!
Good place to buy building supplies and at reasonable prices
I have used Burton lumber for multiple projects. They have always been very helpful. The materials they supply have been top notch and deliveries have been on time and without incident. They have always gone out of their way to ensure I get the best price. I would highly recommend them.
Brett G. provided excellent customer service. He made arrangements with the wholesale molding company in SLC to pick up the base I needed the same day I called. 3 days later I needed more and he came through again and I picked it up the same day again. There was some trouble getting through to the wholesale place but Brett kept me posted with calls on progress of the order and called me as soon as I could pick it up.
Brett and the door shop we’re great to deal with.
So david, they did exactly what all lumbar companies do, you signed the waiver. Im confused. Ive ordered from them multiple times and never had any problems. They dropped the load in the same way. I ordered a kit from them for my basement and they dropped it in my driveway. No problems. Standard procedure. You are nuts.
I love this store close to center of valley, they always help me find what product Im looking for, and will deliver or let me pick up.take payment over phone and my crews and swing by an pick up.if there an issue on size of door they have always taken care of it for me .jbm
This is one of the worst companies Ive ever dealt with before in my life. No exaggeration! They delivered to my house 45 minutes early, when we werent ready for them. I let that roll of my shoulders at first, but then things got a lot worse! They had me sign a paper they didnt explain, which I thought was saying that I was receiving the lumber. Then they proceded to unload in my drive way as I had requested. However, unbeknownst to me, the method of unloading. They tilted the flatbed of the truck and drove forward, carelessly letting 1000s of pounds of lumber slide off and onto my frozen concrete driveway. It hit so hard that it shook our entire house! I called Burton Lumber shortly after to inform them of what had happened and to ensure they planned on taking responsibility of the damages to the wood &/or concrete that may be damaged. Matt (I think that was his name) responded without apology, telling me that I signed the release of liability waiver. (The document I thought was merely stating that I received the lumber, having signed before they plopped it in my drive way) I couldnt believe he was trying to put everything back on me! I will never do business with them again. Id rather pay more money some where else. If there are damages which Burton Lumber owns up to then Ill remove this post, but if not, it is still here as a testiment against them. Anyone doing business with Burton ought to know what they are getting into.
This store location is close to where I live and they have what I need when I need it. The contractor desk is always willing to helpThanks
Got me a new garage door and opener at a great price and they even went the extra mile for me.
We waited 45mins for our will call. Even though we were there first they attended two people before us.
Cancelled.
The salesman came to our job site, ordered the wrong size hanging barn door. When the door was stained and hung we realized the size problem, called the salesman and his manager. They said it was our problem. The salesman took the measurements, so whose fault????
Bad Customer service. Slow.
Awesome people
Absolutely terrible experience!
