I like this store. It is great that they are renovating the dairy cases. Great choice of local bakery goods. Great sandwiches. I love the to-go items, especially the shepherds pie. Good produce. Some different options here than at the larger chain grocery stores. A win for the Upper Valley.
The Co-op was & is designed for a very select group of people = the wealthy folks. I guess, if youre not from this area, you could think of the Co-op as a stepsister of Whole Foods. Its very expensive, which I expect for things that are fresh, organic, locally grown or raised, etc, but even National brands are much pricier here. I just dont understand why people seek out these kinds of stores, but maybe its just me. This particular store has a very confusing, maze-like layout, and I have a hard time finding things here. Theres aisles going diagonally, theres weird square shaped specialty areas (like gourmet cheeses & the like) and the check-outs are hard to find once youre already lost in the crazy aisles. Trust me, I never opt to go grocery shopping here -- I only find myself inside this store because I only need a couple items AND Im already in this section of town. There are real grocery stores (northeast chain stores like Shaws, Price Chopper, & Hannaford) about 10 minutes away that I normally shop at. I have a disabled friend who lives much closer to the Co-op than the larger shopping area, so I take her to this store & I might grab a few things. Otherwise, I avoid this place & I cant recommend it. But Im well aware that the wealthy enclave of Hanover & all the doctors/nurses who work across the street at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center frequent the Co-op. And good for them --- I absolutely appreciate the business model, where anyone can become an Co-operative member/owner & receive money back from the co-op at the end of the year~ ASSUMING THEY MAKE A PROFIT. Im a big fan of that. And I hope the folks that buy-in do indeed collect money at years end. But I need better products, more variety, and lower prices before I ever become a card-carrying member!
Came after work one day and was surprised by the selection of foods. Loved their bread section, many local bakeries that were very yummy. Also products were better quality compared to standard grocery stores. They have serrano peppers! which are so hard for me to find in the northeast kingdom. Lots of local foods.
Beautiful store was short some change this morning and the co op helped out with the 20 cents I had missing. God bless thank you for being so professional.
This store sucks. I have been coming to this area for 5 years now and I stay at the Residence Inn next door. I have always shopped here for it is walking distance. Went there today and will never go again. First of all, they require masks to be worn in the store. Hello, there is vaccination out there for your employees to get. If your Democratic Beliefs does not allow you to get the vaccination, then dont make that the shoppers problem. Furthermore, the deli meat department was closed. Could not get sliced ham in the entire store. Hello, what grocery store does not have any sliced ham available in any form? The so called fresh strawberries you have were half rotted and had flies swarming them.
Great selection and quality. The fresh fish is always delicious and the housemate sushi is way better than the sushi Ive received at actual sushi restaurants
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location on Dartmouths campus. Great produce and fresh meat and seafood options.
I love this store. I have to admit I dont shop there often; when I do its for the quality of the products. If you cant find somewhere else you can usually find it at the Co-op.
I shop at the Coop as a convenience, not for bargains. They have everything I need. I do love their fresh baked bread!
I enjoyed looking around. Its a little pricey but worth checking it out.
Good store but the lines are always crazy. Such a waste of time that I prefer to go elsewhere!
Great local store. Bakery, deli, seafood, produce and more are all great. They carry so much more health conscious items. It is pricier than big chain grocery stores, but the quality is definitely great here.
Last week the coop Florist Folks delivered flowers to a friend in Lebanon. The rave reviews let us know they made a great bouquet that lifted the spirits of the patient and care givers!!!
Terrible customer service from management. The cashier I had was great and very helpful. Refusing service to somone with a exemption becuase of a mask is wrong. Confronting the person in front of the whole front end and making that person let the whole store know they have a exemption and then be refused service is wrong and is beyond terrible service and demoralizing. Segragatiom is wrong. Not everyone can breathe with a mask on. But management thinks its ok and even says that its not that hard to breath through a mask. They dont know what its like for every person. All people want is to live a normal life and be treated like normal people. Shopping to go was never offered and is not the same as picking up groceries for yourself management is lost.
Love this place!! We go here a few times a week. Very welcoming staff and clean place.
Always like CO-OP. Great cheese dept, local vendors, pleasant staffLike the weekly email. Lots of info about products, prep tips, specials and CO-OP news
Love the co-op.but the receiving manager loves to start fights. Always Antagonizing people. Thats why I gave it a one star. Other than that I would love to shop there more
Love the co-op,fruit and veggies are so good, and dont get me started on their sushi it is amzing
I had to go to the Coop today after work (which I hardly ever do, because I hate it). Well, I was able to get all of my groceries in record time and despite how busy it seemed, no one was in my way. I was really starting to doubt my hatred. But then it all came back to me when I went to check out. Over 10 people in each check out line that backed up to the refrigerated section in the back of the store. I had less that 10 items and had to leave. There’s no way I could fathom waiting behind multiple people that had enough groceries to feed small villages. I left the store at 4:51pm and by 5:06pm I was leaving Price Chopper across town with the same exact items. Plus, I was closer to my house at that point. I love to support small businesses, but I value my time too much to ever deal with this again.
Great place to shop..Long wait lines be patient!
This Co-op has a great variety of products, local and otherwise, however the prices can be a bit high unless theyre having a sale. If it isnt something locally made, I rarely buy it at this store (usually online) and was even recommended to look online for one thing that their distributor no longer stocks them with. I mainly only go in there for Hi-Land Farm Goat Cheese. The Dessert Cheese and other fruited options of this goat cheese are amazing!
This is the largest of the bunch and its your Wholefoods local equivalent in the Upper Valley. It has all your organic cravings covered from loose, grind-yourself coffee to organic serve-yourself kombucha by the grouler to lose seeds, nuts, etc to a large variety of high quality wines and craft beer. Their meat and cheese sections are also very good. This location also boasts a cafe with prepared food items along with your favorite beverages. There is ample indoor seating for the cafe and also free WiFi.
Great selection, unique items, helpful staff, clean. I wish it were closer to Tilton.
It has so much to offer! However it was a loooong wait to check out.We only wanted one thing and it took FOREVER.
Best and largest co op aroundThey have good sushi and goat cheeseThey also offer cooking classes
They absolutely have everything... and then some. Never disappointed... great shopping experience.
Probably the best stocked of the Co-op locations.
Has everything you need. Great selection. Pretty pricey and customer service is not always the best.
Amazingly helpful (and knowledgeable) people, always clean and well stocked, fantastic food and locally made items too. Always a pleasure to shop here!
I found some of my favorites French biscuits. Great place. love it!
Staff preferred to look at phone (desk and deli) or chat among themselves (cashiers and baggers) rather than pay attention to customers
Food store with decent organic selection. I wish I could use all of the bulk section... someday... maybe it will be like the before times again.
Great place. Great selection. Lots of parking.
Was a hard time getting thru
Great selection. Looking forward to enjoying the oysters we purchased.
The Co-op Food Stores are a rewarding place to shop mostly thanks to the employees. The majority of them are working careers, not dead-end jobs for less than a living wage; their attitudes reflect that by and large. You do pay premium for an organization that pays and treats its staff well, but isnt that how we all ought to treat one another?Furthermore, if youre local and want a say in how the Co-op operates, you can become a member for a $50 share and be assured your voice is heard. Youve nowhere near that influence with chain supermarkets.
Love shopping here but cant stand the fact that they only have 2 out of 6 registers open at all times and no self-check out options. Please have more registers open!!!
Good selection, kind people
The sushi is absolutely amazing. Generally a good, dependable store, with local ingredients and products.
Place is always a zoo. But if you can get over all the people. You will be able to find whatever you could possibly want or need. The baked goods section is amazing so many different vendors and choices to choose from. Always a go to place for hard to find spices or ingredients for a special meal. Staff is always super helpful and pleasant to deal with. They insist on bagging for you. Love that.
Lots of different things that you cant get a t the regular grocery stores. Little more expensive though
Amazing food in town . They have variety of deli sandwiches, salads, daily meals . If you are looking for a healthy meal go for it. Not to mention the groceries everything is eye catchy.
I saw a dozen eggs for $7.29. Regular-sized chocolate bar for $4.99. A single kaiser roll costs more than a dollar. Shop elsewhere if you can.
Theres nothing but whats good in this place. The quality, selection, other locations and people who work here are unrivaled in these parts of the Upper Valley. You can even become a member and feel like youre part of the goodness.
Shopped at the coop for 30 years weekly. I cant wear a mask due to health conditions, yet that made no difference last week when they decided to go against the Americans for Disabilities Act which is now meaningless to them. I was fine until I got to the check out where I was refused to check out my groceries until I masked up even though they knew it would cause health problems. Made no difference to them. I will not risk my health to shop there and so I will no longer go there. They lost not only me but my family. I hope they are happy now.ALSO quality has gone down but prices went up.
Great store but it is layer out so oddly that I get disoriented and found it difficult to find things.
Pretty pricey store and customer service is slow for the traffic they have.
I love the smells in this store!
Quality food. Nice variety of flowers. Some local produce. Slow out of the gate to follow covid safety precautions, and still not doing a good job. Coop opted not to have shoppers go one direction in aisles. Patrons asked to clean the carts but cleanser bottles usually empty when Ive been there. Hope this feedback might inspire some positive changes.
Love the cafe. I got an unbelievable BLT today. It was good. I also had stuffed grape leaves, which were fantastically satisfying. Always a great stop for lunch.
Excellent superb what else to say?
A wonderful institution!! Local products, community resources, delicious prepared foods, etc. We have been customers for many years and will be for many yet to come
Such good seafood and veggies! Very nice and friendly service. So glad they are making mask wearing mandatory.
Huge and full of all kinds of local and organic fair trade products! A great lunch stop.
Careful staff. Covid precautions in place
Th Coop is the gold standard for great grocery shopping.
Great serviceGreat selection
Very good co-op with all the goodies and with very exceptionally helpful staff ready to help find items or explain any complexity of healthy choices.
Curb side pick up is improving, with more choices for food and time slots.
Extremely helpful staff. Jolene walked me right over to the products I needed then in health and beauty aisle the woman there was extremely helpful. I had no idea where to find what I was looking for. They made my purchases happen. Thank you ladies
Love the local options for as much as possible! The pricing is high for students or young professionals if doing all of your weekly/monthly grocery shopping, but awesome for select items only carried here! Thank you for the list of allergens in EVERYTHING!
Had a short visit with mom way back home from Maine
Pompous and arrogance at a all time high. Dont forget your fur coat
This is the fanciest grocery store Ive ever seen. very clean. tons of great options. every section has top notch quality. more expensive then Hanafords on certain products of the same brand but way more options than other stores
They have a large selection of local and organic foods which is nice but their prices are way too high. Even for name brand products that you can find at shaws or hannaford, coop charges a good amount more for no other reason than being a coop, honestly doesnt make sense. Plus now and day almost all local grocery stores have organic and local aisles and from my experience they are all a good amount cheaper than the coop. Good place to grab a quick item or to look for sales but unless youre really upper class dont expect to do your weekly shopping here (and even if you can afford it youre just wasting money)
They have good produce and I love their selection of bulk spices.
Way overpriced! $5 lb for mediocre tomatoes! Not a place for regular shopping as you are just wasting money. It does have a large variety of things you dont find in regular grocery stores and for that I find it ok to spend the extra money and worth the occasional trip.So using it to shop for specialty items its a cool place but for everyday shopping?OUCH!!!
Nice store great meat and they have the best rostbeef at the deli! not to great for sales and deals. I guess if your a member that cost a fee you get a savings. If you are on a budget this store is probably not for you. I would like to be a member but it is the cost of a few dinners for my family. Be nice if there way a way to pay off membership over a few shopping trips.
Recommendations. Nice place to shop for whole foods, organic foods, some specialty foods. As well as regular foods. They have lovely plants and flowers. Overall great shopping experience. Be prepared to spend more here than at a regular supermarket. It is worth it!
Prices of merchandise seemed unusually higher than other stores. Seemed like less help on the day of my visit in comparison to past visits
It was ok, once you learn how the store setting is, where everything is. Employees nice, friendly. Clean Prices not bad. Have to read up on this membership plan of theirs. What does $50. Membership get me? Like I said, got to do some reading up on it.
High quality groceries and specialty foods. Great vibe and great people.
Not only is there a local grocery store that sells fresh produce and lavender essential oils, they have a deli where you can grab a bite to eat. Its always made fresh the day of and everything is delicious. The staff at all the Co-ops are really helpful and friendly. I love the fact that its locally run and not some corporate conglomerate in the midwest somewhere.
We love these coops and frequently visit all of them. Great products available.I do have to say that some of the staff in the deli at the Lebanon location is a bit abrasive ..definitely lacking traditional customer service etiquette. A rude whats up is not what im looking for when I call or approach a deli counter and yelling to employees as they walk by is uncool.
Friendly service, good product selections
Great Co-op with good selection and nice staff - everyone is very helpful and will go out of their way to show you where something is located. I love their monthly member discounts and their prices are always pretty good. Excellent produce!
Been coming here for a couple years and its always nice and comforting store to visit. Most of the employees are friendly, helpful and some arent. We do like that theres a Sushi Store in the store.
Quality produce, cheeses, meats, prepared foods, classes but terribly stingy, to the point of being asinine, about bags. Prices high so buy rare or high quality stuff. Once in a while rare spices if you need them now but ridiculously high prices - go mail order or local markets, Ocean Job Lots better for spices, oils, pasta ... Etc.
Fantastic store. Higher prices but good, higher quality selection.
Very rude staff!!
Great selection ! Friendly staff.
Everything you need!
Great but, long lines to check out.
They seem to have a little bit of everything here. Decent size store. They even sell wine here! Im from Maryland so we have liquor stores and no alcohol is sold in grocery stores in most the state.Very friendly staff and the check out line is very quick. They had quite a few people working them. Oh and about the wine, I found a couple bottles that I have been trying to get and they have them. I tried one already and really enjoyed it! I may just have to make another stop before I leave.
Always a great variety and selection to choose from at this Co-op. Will always find new items to purchase where you cant find elsewhere.
Have everyone i wanted with good quality produce.
My personal favorite part of the store is either incredibly cheap buckets of sweets or the fact that they have the best peanut butter youve ever tasted
Great selection, nice space.
Large variety of fresh homemade foods for on the go in the cafe part. Makes the Co-op GOTO for healthy tasty quick meals! The staff are all so friendly and happy to help you get what you need!
This store has a lot going for it, you will find stuff here that you will not find in a regular grocery store. Some people consider it pricey but if you think about how far you might have to travel to get the same product or the product your looking for is not available then the price makes it more than worthwhile. The staff here is so friendly and they really know their products.
We enjoyed the Coops Spinach salad and added slices of their teriyaki chicken breast. A nice lunch complemented by Honest Just Green Tea.
Nice staff, beautiful flowers. Flowers last a good long time. Very clean and quaint.
On the 20th Anniversary Day when the Coop offered a 20% off your grocery bill: At 11:45 there was a 4 to 5 minute line for carts. The store was very crowded, and the line to check out was about 30 to 40 minute wait. But the shelves were full, the staff madly stocking as fast as they could, and everyone was quite cheerful. A pretty good experience, all told.
Great to-go section and a fully stocked market! My favorite is the poke bowl by the sushi counter
This is much like the one in Hanover except quite a bit bigger with more selection. Prices are altogether similar. It’s not cheaper but the produce and meats are terrific and everything else is pretty good too, and you can get just about anything you want.
What can I say, its the Coop. While the variety of products is very good, I truly appreciate the quality. You can get excellent salumi/charcuterie in the deli, the absolute best meats cut exactly right, the freshest seafood and a boggling array of cheeses. Also, the produce is too notch. The icing on the cake is a strong focus in locally sourced foods. But theres more! Lindsey Smith and a variety of engaging instructors lead wonderful cooking classes at the Coop Learning Center. Definitely worth checking out.
Not sure why but very expensive
Simply the best food shopping in the Upper Valley. Great selection, great prepared foods, nice areas to enjoy a meal, courteous and friendly employees. Not to mention that the Coop features products from local farms and companies. It makes shopping a pleasure instead of a chore.
Not the place to go shopping for routine household items, which are pricey. But the best seafood in the Upper Valley, always fresh and with a selection that is unmatched. Their meat is nothing special, most of it select grade which is below the choice grade available most everywhere else. But the vegetables are great, and they sell Stonewall Kitchen products, who offer superb jellies, sauces, etc. Service is invariably friendly and helpful.
