Rarely do I ever visit new bars. As a seasoned foodie and craft nerd I pride myself in the convenience of familiarity and consistency. I frequent bars that truly understand their market clients and needs. Taps N Caps crushed every concern I had. The environment was inviting and the bartender (platinum blonde, adorned with facial jewelry) was a surprising delight. She took the time to walk us through a few crafts, (a nu start) we were unfamiliar with and was extra patient with catering to our needs while assisting the heavy traffic. The overall experience was enjoyable and we will be back! Thanks guys!
Came in today to get some to go beers for the holiday weekend. The lady behind the counter was really friendly and even though they seemed really busy, she made time to offer recommendations for me. She let me know there would be a wait and asked if I wanted a glass of anything while I waited. I will definitely be back.
Best root beer on tap for non drinkers, excellent games to play with friends. Super awesome experience. And you get to watch them can your 6 pack drinks to-go.
This is my favorite place to relax. Great beer, great people. There is nothing else to say.
Great little place. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about all the beers they have on tap. Great atmosphere and fun place to hang out. We always enjoy going there.
Great place for wide selection of beer. Friendly staff. You can bring your own food.
Had a great Fathers Day Brunch with my family and Dad. Thanks Taps & Caps for great beer and food. Will definitely do it again next year if you have it.
They have your standard selection of beers on top. But I definitely have to say the layout lends itself to more private conversations a little bit more of an intimate feel and just overall a more pleasant experience for individuals who like privacy. I would say that theres a limited capacity on the amount of people that can actually be in the location but in this day and age that isnt actually a downside.
Great beers, knowledgeable staff. Will repeat.
I have really liked this place in the past. Pretty good selection of harder to find stuff. So, two stars for that, but the crowler filling experience from today pretty much put me off for good. Ordered two four-packs of 16oz crowlers. By the time I got them after a long time waiting, five of eight had faulty seals. As in, noticeably leaking enough to be dripping by the time I got to my car. Brought them back in where the bartender half heartedly apologized and took them back. She pulled out new cans and proceeded to pour from the leaky ones into the new ones. I watched as at least an inch of foam poured over the top of a couple before she smashed a new lid down on what was left. I’m too non-confrontational to call her on it immediately, so I just said “never mind” as I walked out. I’ll just chalk it up as a $30 lesson on where not to go in the future for beer to go.
Love this place. Great affordable craft beer with a huge selection to take home. I will definitely use the order ahead because I did not expect it to take a half hour to get my order...
Great selection of brews. Comfy place to relax and enjoy a variety of libations. Friendly place.
Definitely a cool place to stop and try some new beers! Went on a Saturday around 4:30pm and it looked really small and quiet from the outside but there was music playing, some festive decor and a few tables of people enjoying their beers. We opted for a flight since there were so many beers weve never seen or tried before. Its really cool that they have all of the 4oz options for $2 bucks. Their digital menu even shows you how full/empty the keg is, just tapped, IBU, ABV, etc.
They have great staff and will send you home with Peticolas. What more do you want?!
Great selection, great staff
Great selection of beer and prices are good too
Always a Great selection of brews and an even better venue to hang out. Buy a flight, buy a pint, fill your growlers, and play some games. The staff is always helpful and friendly. And you can even bring your own food. One of our favorite low key places around town
They always get the best in local selections first. Seem to always be the first to have the latest Martin House releases, which is pretty nice. pretty reasonable prices and the online ordering is very convenient for reserving selections ahead of time and easily stopping by for pickup.
Edit: The online service fee is passed on directly to the staff. Thanks for the response!Great selection and has a lot of hard to find brews. Recently added a substantial $5 service fee to online orders, which is highly disappointing. Stop in in person and skip the premium.
My go to for beer! Entire staff is incredibly helpful & knowledgeable about the flavor profiles of the entire inventory. And thats always changing, so I love stopping in to try whats on tap at the moment. Website lets you know whats flowing & how much is left. As a bonus, Im ok to bring my kids along. Its not set up to entertain them exactly, but I never feel bad when they come with. Love that we can bring food in and enjoy at a leisurely pace-refreshing in the age of quick turn. Well done!
Fun beers! Good service! Great fun board and card games. Theres an Asian restaurant right next door to get food. Many times they will bring you your food!
Loved this place before the remodel and it looks great now! The staff here are always friendly and knowledgeable. Youll never come in here without finding something you love, whether a local beer or not.
We love going here. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming plus there is always something new to try. When we went we tried pickle beer! It was so popular they had people lined up out the door the week before and the night we came some guy bought 26 cans of it (they have a can top stamper so they can bottle it for you.) Also, the place is friendly to nerds, sports fans, and children. Its no uncommon to see a group of adults playing a board game, a kid enjoying root beer with his parents, and a big hockey game on the projector. A really unique place. I only wish it was bigger!
I love this place for tap beers. Very friendly staff. Its a drive for me from Dallas to Lewisville, but its always worth it.
So many options to drink! I think there are 50 taps. About 5 are cider, kombucha, and mead. The remaining 45 vary between all the different types of beers. The staff is super friendly. All great, faster workers. Seating used to be rough but they have added much more. I recommend this place to everyone. Be sure to grab a flight, find the ones you like, enjoy a few pints there, then grab some cans or growlers to go!
I love this place! Lots of good tap selections. And I love their crowler sizes. Well. I love it because I can get more variety in smaller quantity. I don’t love the fact that I buy at least two every time I come!
I love this place. So many beers on tap with quick service and friendly staff. The prices are reasonable too.
Great local craft beers with friendly staff
Love this place. love their beer. massive on tap selection
Review Update: Im updating my review to 3 stars. This place is nuts on a Friday. They need to have a better way for reorders. I waited through the long line that took forever as there was only one cashier and ordered a flight. I went back to the pickup area and they told me I had to wait in line again. You already have my tab started, it should be quick to reorder another flight, etc. Instead I had to wait in line to close my tab. Taps and Caps you lost some money from me today that would have easily been avoided if the people filling orders could add to a tab without the customer having to wait in line again. I still enjoy the beers and may be back.Original Review: 5 Stars. Eric and his co-worker were very friendly (owners?) and helpful. They helped to guide our selection for their cheap flights based on our preferences. They even gave guidance to one of our party that doesnt like beer and just along for fun, as well as contemplated putting in a wine tap for people that dont like beer but are there with friends. Great place. Will definitely be back.
I’ve been to several places like this and Lone Star is the best. Always an amazing selection, staff is super friendly and place just has a good vibe.
Try 45 and 27 ...D E L I C I O U S!!!🙃
Nice simple place to pop in and try a new beer. They only have bar stools here, so not as comfy seating as some other spots. I do wish these types of places sold a little more bar food besides just peanuts. Otherwise a good place, friendly staff.
Taps and Caps is awesome. They constantly have the newest beers to hit the metro and always have something special on tap. The owner, Rick, is super friendly and his team is top notch. I frequent this place at least once per month! Go check it out!
Clean lines and great service! I’m a huge fan of this place.
Beer heaven. That about sums it up. You wont find any bud light here.50 craft beers on tap at any given time (they rotate them out).Bottles, 32oz cans or glass growlers to go, or 64oz growlers to go.Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Its clear that the business is geared towards take-out growlers. However, there are some drink-in tables (up to 4 per table). Like other reviews mention, its nice, but the ambiance is very spartan and bright white lights. Its not a typical bar/pub feeling. Its more like the feeling you get at a wine-tasting, where you an hang out a bit for tastings/flights, but its intended to get you to get growlers to go.Given that, I will STILL be visiting and hanging out periodically with friends/family.The beer and selection is great!
The people behind the counter are typically knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Whether you are a craft beer newbie or seasoned vet, they have something to offer. I love the diversity of their selection. A lot of beer bars are too heavy on IPAs and stouts. Dont get me wrong, I love those styles, but there is more to the craft than those beers. The owner can often be found sitting at the tables with patrons discussing beer and other stuff. He gives his opinions on beers, and his stamp of approval is a pretty good guarantee. Definitely worth stopping by for a pint.. or two
Hmmmm... This place is okay but not very inviting and the staff didnt seem too interested in us being there.
Great place to grab some beer. Large selection that seems to change pretty often. No food, but they let you bring your own and the Chinese place next door is pretty good. Service is a little hit or miss, and I think most people stop to fill a growler rather than hang out.
Great place to get a growler fill at a decent price!
Lone Star Taps and Caps has always been a great craft beer spot on my radar. Helpful and friendly staff will attend to you and make informed suggestions should you ask for them. I gladly make trips out of my way to come visit these guys. Dont want to drink right now? Great! Theyll hook you up with some to go beer!
This place is great. Bought several growlers and throw beer tasting parties at the company I work for. Its great because then you dont have to buy a whole kegs and just grab a few beers to taste for several people. The staff usually knows what people like and have great recs.
Easily one of my favorite places to drink in the Dallas area. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the beers theyre serving and are quick to offer suggestions when asked. They always take care of us when we go in. The beer selection is constantly changing and they dont gravitate too much toward any one type that Ive noticed.
This place is an awesome spot to check out and try the new craft brews from all over. They have a great selection of beers on tap (dont know the exact number but Id guess around 50). They are always rotating their stock, and their menu screens show how new the full the keg of each beer is along with pricing for the various pour sizes. They sell growlers you can fill, or you can bring your own. They can also fill single serve cans (crowlers) if you dont want to pay for a full growler fill.
It was a Fun atmosphere, and the Staff was very Knowledgeable about all the Beer. Prices are extremely Reasonable. I will be going back.
One of my favorite spots to just sit down and enjoy a good beer. Tons of variety and constantly changing out new beers. Very reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and employees.
Found this place by happenstance and so glad we did! Tons of fantastic micro-brews at great prices. Best part of the place is the sample sizes. Will definitely hit this place up again.
Oh my gosh I have fallen in love. This is the worlds best find for a bear lover with 50 bears on tap all the time and a changing selection it is a tasters dream. I ended up trying 8 different beers here today in small taster glasses and was then able to purchase growlers of the beers that really impressed me.The rotating menu of beers on the TV screen is cool, because while you are enjoy your fist beer or beers, you can be selecting and choosing your next selection. We ended up getting 2 flights of 4 beers each. The computer screen is cool because it tells you how much of the keg is left, and in the short time we were there we watch one keg go dry and it was replaced with a different brew once the line was cleaned. What makes this cooled is that you can go online at home and see what is on tap that day before making the choice of heading down to the Tap and Cap.If you are new to growlers, their prices for getting a new growler are extremely reasonable or you can bring one from home if you already have them.
Awesome gem in the heart of the ever-growing Colony-Plano-Frisco 121 corridor. Noticed this place after stopping by to get some drive through food nearby. Turns out, they allowed us to bring in food and enjoy some fresh craft brews from around the world. This place reminds me of that growler bar at Whole Foods - if it procreated with an Apple store, then youd get Lone Star Taps & Caps. They have a very clean location with a techie feel because of all of the beer selections displayed on crisp clear HD (or maybe 4K?) TVs.Pros:- You can bottle & take home any beer- Revolving selections regularly- STAFF IS EXCELLENT & FRIENDLYCons:- Wish this was an all-out bar, but its simply a grab & go type of place. They do have chairs and tables where you can enjoy beer, but no entertainment, food, etc (not a big deal)
With over 50 taps on hand as well as bottles to serve, this place is a gem. Seating can limited at times but if you’re in then enjoy. They do not serve food but their are several next door neighbors that do takeout and this establishment allows you to bring it in to eat while you drink. Also can get delivery to the restaurant if you want. There are led kegs on the board that tell you when the keg was tapped as well as how much is left. Thumbs up!
Good selection of craft beers and friendly staff. On my last visit they didnt bother to sanitize my growlers before filling them and one of them I hadnt used in quite some time. It didnt affect the taste of the beer but it is always something they shpuld at least ask about. Otherwise this would have been 5 stars.
Monday Movie Night was a cool night to try this place out. I was incredibly surprised at how cheap a pitcher of craft beer could be. Ask for a house blend. They also have card and board games like Catan and apparently all of the pieces for it, so thats nice.
Beer selection is fantastic! Great place to hang out after dinner, lots of places to eat dinner nearby. Wait staff was courteous and helpful with menu.
Nice place for a craft brew or two. They need to keep introducing new beers, though. The selection is getting stale.
Beer selection is top notch! Rotating taps means new and varied options every time. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The best part is having a couple tasters and then getting a growler of the best one to go.
Who doesnt love this place?Things youll find here.....Friendly staff who actually know beer.Everything from beer to kombucha, root beer and maybe coffee once in a while.Cheers type greetings once they learn your name.Beer and food pairings from time to time.Rare beer releases.Sports on a couple TVs.Trivia.Beer flights. The barely legal flight.....18 samples!!(three person minimum)Snacks for purchaseSwag for purchaseBYOF(bring your own food)New friends. Seriously, just start talking to people....Quickly rotating taps.Real time keg life via their website. The only down side to this place is Friday nights. Its a smaller venue so when it gets packed and people start having a good time it gets LOUD!!!Not normally a big deal. Its a beer bar a people go out on the weekends so its to be expected.Give them a go. You wont be let down.
Great selection compared to other craft beer stores.
Compact and popular location. Constantly updating selections so there is always something new on tap. Great array of beer for any style preferred.
50 taps... Great variety... The location was ideal and central to great food places. For a quick out of town stop, I would recommend this place for a drink.
Great beer, mead and cider selection. Not a huge place. Busy, but it didnt feel crowded when I was there on a Thursday night. I loved sitting at the whiskey barrel table. Great staff.
I love Taps and Caps and Lonestar beverages down the road. They are owned by someone that loves beer, and he brings in stuff from around the world that Ive never seen before and beer is my main hobby. Hes quick to get kegs from new DFW breweries, so now that I have kids I can still try all the new stuff without having to hit up brewery tours on the weekends. Great beer, great service, and its getting to be more of a destination every time I go with a huge projection screen and comfortable seating.
Fantastic beer selection. No food to choose from other than some junk food. Atmosphere is. . . thin. Beer is the focus here, just the beer. Probably would put Yard House to shame. Far more rotation also.
Incredible selection, wonderful and knowledgeable staff, wallet friendly pricing. Definitely worth the trip for anyone who enjoys good beer. ♥️
Cool staff. Very knowledgeable and very helpful about what you are looking for
Friendly staff, great selection, organized menu board. Could use a little more seating and an appropriate music playlist. Seemed like the staff was playing their personal music, which didnt fit the crowd or the location (hard rap played almost the entire time, really loudly).
Friendly service and a great beer selection. Im so glad they painted it black, the white they had before was way too bright.
Great place to try new beers since they have ~50 taps they rotate. You can get tasters and pints for everything on site plus they will fill growlers for take home. They allow food to be brought in since they dont have a kitchen.
This place is great. Not only do they have a laundry list of 50 crafts on tap, but they have a knowledgeable and friendly staff. These guys have been nothing but helpful suggesting limited/hard to find beers as I make my way through the list. Plus...super reasonable prices relative to other growler type places Ive seen.
Awesome! Cool you can taste and get beers canned to save for later.
Me and my fiancée have been coming here for a little over a year and this place is awesome. It’s a perfect spot to do some homework and have a good beer. Before I was 21, I was drinking the kombucha here, usually I got the canabliss cbd kombucha. Now that I’m 21 I get number 42 which is a yummy sour beer. This place will always have my business!!
The staff is very knowledgeable about what they have on tap. The selection is always great and the vibe is chill and relaxed. You can hang and have a beer or you can fill and run. Welcome back crowlers!!
I live right down the street and stop in often (probably too often). They always have a great selection of beers and an exceptionally friendly staff. Check their website or social media to stay up to date on tappings and special events. Whether you stay for a few pints or take some growlers or cans to go, you will enjoy Taps and Caps.
Bare bones but so good. Friendly service, decent prices. Good for a sampler set and fill up for home.
Not a bar, not a restaurant, not really a beer shop. What it is is a place that sells some two dozen lousy quality expensive homemade beers and offers no snacks and barely any where to sit. Youre better off taking your money to a nice liquor store and getting sample bottles of various beers taking them home.
Yes its a beer place but you can bring your own food and friends. Believe it or not, you can even make new friends. Its clean place to have fun
Love this place. Perfect taps. Great, friendly service. Always wonderful for a discerning kind of beer drinker.
Fantastic beer selection. Constantly rotating out kegs from different breweries that you cant find often around here. Staff is extremely friendly and fast service.
Almost everything is perfect (best tap selection, friendly/helpful staff, decent prices, and an online tap list!)... My only complaint is the sterile lighting. It is really stark and bright. Maybe consider cutting 1/2 of them or going to a warmer color temp bulb. The only other thing would be nice to see the pricing on the Tap List. All that said, I will be a regular customer and am super excited to have this near me!
Incredible selection of craft beers on tap and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The beer and food paring events are always fun. Pricing is very friendly, definitely my favorite spot to grab a beer.
A never ending parade of solid local brews, rare national runs, and cool events. This was the original for this area and still has its fastball. If you like beer, this is a must visit in the Dallas area. Tap lists available online so you can plan your trip.
Good drinks. Cool place to have drinks. Staff seems to have an attitude.
This place is a true gem. May be hard to get seating so call ahead. There are kegs on the board that tell you when the keg was tapped as well as how much is left. Great variety too.
The OG growler shop. I cannot tell you how many times I have been here. Great staff and they know their stuff well.
Great selection and service
Best place to find good quality local craft beer. And they have a rewards program, that gives you points for every beer you buy! When I need a growler filled this is where I stop.
Great service. Great selection. Great atmosphere. Good prices. I cant recommend this place enough. If you are into beer, this is the place for you. There are very good restaurants near-by (looking at you Pho) that pair nicely with this establishment. Prosit!
