Rude rude rude. I was very dissapointed after driving nearly an hour and half to get there. Evidently I disturbed his break and this greeting was what ya want? I explained it had never been there and I was interested in looking at a cat and needed some supplies for my other boat. He was so rude I just left. How do these people stay in business? Dont waste your time.

Whether you are new to sailing or a life long sailor, working with Richard to find your dream boat as well as selling her new dreams appear is a great experience. Richards 40 years of knowledge and experience is second to none...I know because I have purchased and sold over 8 boats in last 10 years with Richard...cheers!

I purchased a Tohatsu outboard motor from Richard in March of 2020. Being new to the boat/motor buying process, Richard has been terrific, very responsive, and shared his knowledge with us throughout the entire sale and beyond. I would definitely buy from him again.

Not good at follow up for listing a boat for me. I tried to list a very nice sailboat with them ( I had 4 buyers the next weekend and sold it). Im not sure about now, but their minimum commission was $3500 last year. I was willing to pay, but there was no sense of urgency to come out and list my boat. Also, I have not used them to purchase a boat, so they may be more customer focused with that end of their business.

I have known of them for many years. Be sure to contact them when looking for a sailboat.

A well deserved 2 out of 5 stars. If you buy from Richard, do you due diligence on the paperwork aspect, its not his strong suit. It took him nearly 40 days, after the date of purchase, to file titling/registration paperwork with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Often I would call to check-in, and his response would be, sorry, Ive been suuuuuuuper busy. Which may true, or it could be an excuse for a lack of organizational skills. Stop by his place, and make the decision for yourself... Also, he owes me $31.25 for (trailer taxes). I was double charged, once by him, and once by the state of Texas. Last time I spoke to him in person, he didnt have the money to pay me. He was, waiting on a payment from another customer. Good Luck

I spent a lot of money on a used sailboat at La Vida Starships.I live 200 miles away, so I towed the boat home and got ready to take it out on the water. Then I realized that Richard Clary, the owner of La Vida Starships, did not follow through on his word; he did not file the boat transfer/registration with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Without the registration there is no way to operate the boat legally on any Texas lake. Thanks a pantload, Richard Clary!I called Richard at La Vida Starships and he gave me a few excuses for failing to do his job. I waited for him to file the registration. It still did not happened.Then, I called Texas Parks and Wildlife to file a complaint. They sent a Park Ranger out to the La Vida Starships to explain to Richard that he cant go around selling boats without transferring the registration. After the visit from a TPWD officer the registration was finally filed, but this was MONTHS AFTER THE SALE.I will never purchase another boat from Richard Clary and I cannot recommend him or La Vida Starships to anyone interested in buying a boat.If you do decide to purchase a boat from Richard, my advice is to break the payment into two parts and to withhold the second payment until Richard completes the registration process.

Great customer service. The owner personally met with me to deliver a Tohatsu outboard motor with no notice. He was more than willing to help me out when no other boating supply center would. I highly recommend, I will be a lifetime customer.

Richard sold me my sailboat 13 years ago. It was a great experience. Since then he had helped me repair and maintain my boat. He cares about his customers be and takes great care of them. I highly recommend LaVida Starships.

Richard is a sailboat guy. He knows what hes doing and how to get things done. Recent purchase was to my complete satisfaction. Recommended to all.

Richard clarity has worked very hard with us, I’m hoping we can get the perfect boat for hubby! This has been my husbands dream for a lifetime - and Richard has done so much for us! Kudos to Richard!!!!

Working with Richard was a real pleasure. He didnt mind traveling out of his way to show me his inventory. He found me a quality used sailboat at a fair price. When its time to move up I will go see Richard.

Update: We were able to receive the trailer registration/plate in November 2017.Product was nice with fair price (no problem here) Very helpful up to the sale. Boat and trailer was purchased early June, but could not receive the completed documents for ownership transfer until November.

I bought and, unfortunately, sold my sail boat at La Vida. Richard really seems to work hard to make the customers happy!

Problem after paperwork problems.Yes we had paperwork problems.Being Canadian, I had to be sure on paperwork for import into Canada.Richard also had a hard time but was relentless in making sure his sale was good.BTW Richard - people at my marina are intrigued by my carbon mast.First one in this area.Thanks Richard,Paul

Owner is demented. Screwed up my paperwork. Lied to me. Then ignored me for weeks after he took my money. Since I contacted the BBB and my credit card company, now he wont stop calling me or texting me. Hes using dozens of different phone numbers and area codes trying to be anonymous. Even calling and emailing my employer. You have been told to stop. This is harassment. Reported to police.

Been great to work with on 2 boats that I have had with LVS. A pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend LVS for your next sailboat.

Dont buy a boat and trailer there if you actually want to register it. Paperwork nightmare that just wont go away.

Avoid this business.Sold me a trailer in October 2018. Has not provided bill of sale so I cannot get it registered even tho he promised me would mail me the bill of sale. I have the other paperwork, just not the bill of sale which Texas requires to register and title the trailer.I have dozens of text messages and him recorded on a phone call saying it was in the mail, but now he will not respond to me. Will be contacting the BBB and the State of Texas DPS and reporting him.Looks like there are 2 other google reviewers that had the exact same problem (Bob Faith Anderson and Paul Bourdage).

I dropped in for a quick look at small sailboats! I was helped and treated really well, even though I was just researching!

Wonderful Customer service and got me sailing in my first Sailboat!!! Very satisfied customer. Richard is great to work with. Thanks again!!!!!!
