Great coffee shop! They have a lot of space to sit and relax. Love it when they open the garage doors! They also have such a wonderful selection of roasts. Great coffee if you enjoy more fruity and nutty flavors of coffee roasts. You are in for an experience if you think that dunkin or Starbucks is good coffee! This will blow your mind because you can actually taste the coffee instead of needing to mask the flavor with cream and sugar.

Some of the best tasting coffee I’ve had. The flavor is really rich, and not masked by excessive sugar in the lattes or the mocha. Great selection of pastries. The ambiance is also fantastic — kind of rustic, a lot more character than a lot of other cafes.

Perfect place to sit down and draw while you enjoy a drink and a baked good. I love relaxing there and feeling inspired enough to make art with friends

Just had a staff member blatantly lie to my face that the owner was not on the premises come to find out that he was in the back the whole time. I will not do business with people who teach their employees to lie to their customers. I spent $200/month on coffee there and now he will forever lose my business. I would not recommend this place of business.

I’ve had the pleasure of buying Hansa coffee for six years now from MI and my first visit to the retail store in Libertyville was the exact reason why we love this company. Coffee was excellent. Lavender shortbread cookies are awesome too. Lemon and zucchini cake was pretty tasty as well. Girlfriend got a scone, she was disappointed it was stale however. She did enjoy her tea. Drove all the way from Wisconsin to try them out, was definitely worth the 30 minute drive. Very clean and friendly environment. Best coffee around.

I love their coffee and the atmosphere is lovely; however their cupcakes and breads are very dry and not appetizing to eat. I got 2 cupcakes the peppermint and pumpkin chocolate chip and both were so dry. The only thing that was really good was their small fudge. I would come to visit again for the great coffee and lovely atmosphere.

Coffee is great, also bought a chemex that was priced similarly to Amazon. In downtown Libertyville and a quick walk away from some nice scenery (park near Cook Memorial Library) to enjoy the coffee.

The coffee is worth driving 45 minutes for. Such a special treat!

Very interesting coffee shop for coffee lover who enjoys coffee from all over the world and a variety of tea also very diverse patrons right across from the metra station and it is expanding from the first time I was there awesome young ladies truly remarkable service though opening hours arent your typical 5 or 5:30am.

I really enjoyed Hansa, the coffee was pretty decent, I had a Cappuccino, and the space it self was really well laid out. This place is pretty ideal for doing your work with plenty of outlets and spaces. It does have an interesting smell inside which I suppose is due to coffee being roasted in the vicinity.If you actually enjoy a good coffee, not just something like Starbucks, or want to experience a good espresso and all the delights that come with that then this is place that I would go. I can recommend and I do recommend. I would love to venture back whenever I get the chance and try more of what there extensive menu offers.(5 stars)Hansa is the coffee place to be from my experience in Mundelein and Libertyville, (Granted my experiences are few). ☺️👍 Thumbs Up

Ive had great espresso drinks here in the past, but maybe some staff training is needed? yesterday my cortado was a foamless, 8 oz latte. the day before the espresso needed so badly to be dialed in mid-day.

First and foremost, excellent sourcing and roasting. I’ve found really interesting beans here, and I’ve always been pleased with the roasting. Great cafe space and menu offerings. Honestly shocked to find coffee this good away from downtown, and it’s tucked away in downtown Libertyville.

Excellent coffee-Macchiato perfection, helpful baristas, Chemex pour-over with freshly ground coffee. Hansa is a must visit.

Hansa is a really great coffee shop with excellent atmosphere, amazing employees, and a good selection of drinks. Their brewed coffee is a bit too acidic and lightly roasted for my taste, but their espresso drinks are really good and I enjoy their darker Signum blend. I would highly recommend this shop if youre meeting someone for a casual conversation, want to do some light reading, or just really need a cup of something warm and comforting.

My #1 for coffee. Very nice people, excellent coffee, relax atmosphere. Please do not pay Starbucks when you can have Hansa - the difference is humongous!!!!! :)

In my book, Hansa and Conscious Cup would place one and two as best coffee roaster in the Chicagoland suburban area. Espresso quality of a coffee roaster is typically the foremost indicator I use to evaluate a shop, and Hansas is outstanding. Always a good pull, full of flavor, with delicious crema—appropriately served with sparkling water. The accessory products curated here are also worth noting. Take a seat inside during pleasant weather and the garage doors will be open.

This is a very nice coffee (and tea) shop that has taken over an old auto repair shop. It lets them roll up the doors in summer and let the breeze in. They have a constant rotation of single origin, and some blended coffees from all over the world that they roast fresh. They serve both specialty coffees and teas with excellent service. If you like good coffee and tea, this is the place to get it.😎

This place is amazing. Great people work there. Living in Chicago I have tried some great places, however this hands down is the best in the mid west. I go out of my way to pick up beans weekly. Highly recommend.

Hansa roasts the best coffee in the area. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Whether I order drip, pour-over, or a specialty drink, it is always great. Recently, I have been partial to their Flu Shot latte - delicious!The atmosphere is industrial, yet comfortable. Hansa is a great place to meet with people, get some work done, or just read a book.

Love the coffee, atmosphere, and culture of this place. Very hole-in-the-wall like. The seating here is somewhat limited though, but the lake bluff location offers more seating. It can be a bit too noisy/distracting at times for me to get studying done, but that may be just me. When studying, I prefer the lake bluff location, but this this place is lovely!

The staff was pleasant and informative. I love the space. It is nice to have a place like this, especially in suburbia. The drinks werent amazing, but well done nonetheless. When the weather permits they open the garage door which is really nice. Take a break from your norm and check it out.

Coffee for purists. If you like pour over coffee, this is your place. Serious coffee for serious coffee lovers. The decor is pretty clean and cool. And the coffee was great. But its not a Starbucks and you should be prepared for that!

Would love it if it didnt smell like burnt toast every time I walk and drive past this place. Its supposed to smell like heavenly coffee not something you want to toss in the trash. Sorry, rather spend my money at Starbucks where I dont have to put up with the nasty smell.

Im only giving you three stars because youre pretty much out of luck out in this area to find anything else easily that is independent for coffee. The service is definitely not quick luckily I was not in a hurry. I cannot recommend the coffee unfortunately. I think they need to think about a little bit more and I wish them luck

Great, unique coffee shop..Close to the train station. Looks like it used to be a garage ..But now it looks amazing inside, very nice wooden decor, including book shelves design is very interesting. Coffee tastes amazing as well and customer service is very polite and friendly.

Its a great local coffee shop and they dont burn the beans when they roast them. The roasting is done on-site.

Hansa has phenomenal coffee that has some of the highest caffeine content ever... seriously, it might be laced with heroin. It comes out a beautiful amber color, very deep and rich, and the taste is strong and pungent in all the best ways. The only problem: horrible study space as it is quite often full on weekends and theres not many outlets for your laptop. Its in a garage so great to sit in the summer, but too industrial to get anything done.

I used to look forward to riding up to Hansa from Evanston on the weekends. They’ve decided not to buy oat milk anymore and instead make their own. It is terrible. It doesn’t foam at all, and tastes bitter. A cappuccino is basically an americano. When I asked why, they said to save money. I’d happily pay the extra cost for an oat milk cappuccino but as a result of them trying to save a few pennies, my crew of ~15 cyclists who used to visit 2-3x a month will go to one of the many other coffee shops that carry good foaming oat milk. Just bring the real oat milk back please!

Best rating you can give a coffee house that doesnt have a fireplace! Everything else is awesome! Parking is readily available and its right next to the train station too!

I went here to work on my computer for a while. The service was great. I wasnt sure what to order and the employee who helped me made a few really good recommendations. As I was waiting there was a difficult customer in front of me and they handled that interaction with tact and made sure everyone was happy. There is plenty of seating, and I was able to find a spot with an outlet for my computer at the bar on the wall. My drink was delicious (a little overpriced for the size, but so yummy) and I felt comfortable staying as long as I needed to. Ill definitely be going back soon!

Spectacular coffee, spectacular atmosphere. The workers all want to interact with their customers and start good conversation. They try to have a relationship with each customer and remember them between visits. Great place.

Im honestly surprised this place has such great reviews. While its wonderful to have an independently owned coffee shop this far in the suburbs, the coffee quality is just too low. Ive been to probably at least a hundred such coffee shops, and this one is near the bottom. The espresso shots are always poor here. I would avoid.Oh, and the setting had a brief novelty effect but is terrible.

So to give some background, I work at a coffee roaster in Texas and am familiar with the process of drink making, and flavors/notes that are to be present in different beans.I ordered a cappuccino, and recieved a latte in a smaller cup which is a common misconception these days. A cappuccino should be 1 part espresso, steamed milk, and foam. I recieved just steamed milk and microfoam. It was properly textured so if I had ordered a latte I would have added a star to this. Second, the espresso tasted very sour which tells me they are pulling their shots too short. I recommend radding more water/time to the shot or reducing the grounds added.This review is purely based on the quality of the drinks and not the service or setting:both of which were just fine. I enjoyed the open seating in the back room.

First time at Hansa coffee yesterday and it was great. Friendly and helpful server assisted in guiding me to the perfect tea. Looking forward to stopping in again soon.

Love this place. The coffee creations are wonderful. The staff cheery and welcoming. Their sitting area is sort of shabby chic/ industrial. They have free Wi-Fi & business people and college students gather to collaborate or just work quietly while waiting for the train. A hidden gem in Libertyville.

I have loved Hansa since they opened; they do great work both with roasting and everything coming from the bar. My only critique is that as much as the craft is respected, so should the staff be--POS/CC tipping needs to become a thing here. Not many people carry cash anymore and we want to tip.
