Grateful to have this shop in the area. Convenient location for drop off and service is excellent. I needed help with my truck, diagnostic was done within an hour or two, and same day repair as well, including getting parts on site quickly. Guys running the shop are friendly, call you with updates, and I even recognized the same mechanic at this shop from 4-5 years ago. Meaning he is very experienced, likes his job, and techs donβt come and go all the time. ππ»ππ»ππ»
I would definitely recommend this business. I desperately needed to get the brakes done on my daughters car and I called and explained the situation to Susan and she was able to fit me in right away. The guys did a great job and I will definitely be going back there for my car needs. Thank you again.
Went in for the FREE check engine light scan and was charged nearly 140 dollars. Received the bad explanation and charge after they had me sign an agreement to perform the additional tests.(not knowing about the extra cost)Hope they spent that 140 bucks wisely because me and my 2 cars wont be back.
I took my car in for AC not consistently working; very transparent and effective service! My car is repaired with a warranty on service at a reasonable price! I was very pleased and will return for future service!
Always honest about the cost and always doing great repairs..π―
Great place for a Veteran to get his car serviced. SUSAN was very nice to talk too. Plus a military discount..
Awesome experience. They are reasonable and detailed when explaining the problem with your vehicle. I dealt with Chris and he is very nice and a down to earth and extremely helpful.
Excellent service! Will definitely come back
Favorite auto shop in the area! Always honest and does the job right, in 10 years my family has never had a bad experience, Chris and his team always provides the best experience with fast fixes so your not put a vehicle for long
Great experience getting an oil change.
The best compliment I can give is they have integrity. They are trustworthy professionals and if I dont do it myself, they are the ones Id trust to do it right.
Cant say enough about Chris and the service I got at Tuffys. My car runs like new.
I am still upset how my car was poorly serviced at this establishment. Tuffy came highly recommended from a family friend. Iβll start off by saying they did a decent brake job on my Buick Enclave but soon after the brakes were done it was making a noticeable squeak sound. I was told itβs common with that model. Thought I should give them another shot, so I had my ac repaired in the summer. After picking up vehicle, I had to bring it back as my engine sounded strange and RPMs were going up way too high on my way home. Was told the engine was shifted during my ac install and the manager was going to talk to his technician about his poor work. About 2-3 visits later ac was ok. Had more work done and felt like since they started the job I had to see it through completion. They changed my oil and did not reset my oil life or give me a reminder sticker for my wind shield. I was worried about driving my car back to tuffy as my car said 0% oil life and they did have my car towed to the shop at my own expense! After that visit I was told to bring it back so they could make sure it was running properly. For that visit I made an appt and was promised a loaner car. I went to drop my car off that day and was informed they did not have a loaner car after all, as the owners car caught fire and they had the loaner car. My car has been in the garage for nearly two months Bc we are still unsure it is ok to drive with our children inside. Spent thousands at tuffy and I am absolutely 100% unhappy how my car and limited time was handled. For my inconvenience during the ac repair I was given a $25 gift card that will go in the garbage as I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. Not even worth going back for a free oil change.Update:The owner read this review the day I posted and promised to look into this matter. Still waiting on a response...
These guys are awesome! Fast quality work at reasonable price. The gal at the front is very nice. She even remembered my name on my second visit.
Ive been bringing both of my vehicles to Susan and company for the past 7 years and I have never been disappointed! The service is terrific, and their work and spot on. I always feel Im getting a fair shake whether its an oil change or something major. One of their greatest quality is they stand behind their work, and handle any problems with fairness and integrity.I highly recommend Tuffys for all your automotive needs!
Had them fix my rear tire for $25 didnt check air in other tires or inflate the fixed one to the correct pressure
They said it will be done, came back then they told me two more hours, called it still was not done, no smile from me
Came here from Groupon. Very reasonable priced oil change For a year. They have toys for the tots, fresh popcorn and drinks. Very nice people, so far so good.
Brought my vehicle in for a estimate on changing a hose on the power steering pump. The hose from the fluid resourvor to the pinion was leaking. Estimate came out to be $1550.00. They said all 4 lines and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. I went there because my regular mechanic was closed on Saturday. I told them I would bring it to my mechanic on Monday to see what he could find. My mechanic fixed it for under $150.00. .Do these people really think everyone is that dumb. If you bring your car to them WATCH OUT! You will get ripped off. You have been told.
Great auto garage. Super friendly guys. Really great pricing too. Will be back again for my next service.
I love the service. They make sure you are safe and your car is running smooth. They have fair prices. The service is outstanding
Excellent service every time i need it. I always get my oil changed here. Chris provided me with a list of recommended repairs and noted what was urgent. No pressure at all. I will continue to bring my vehicle here whenever i need service.
Good place. Got me in next morning and hooked up a muffler and short turndown. No issues.
Everyone was very, very, friendly. I received excellent service. I was able to get a free estimate b4 getting any work done. I had my front rotors and brakes replaced.
Helpful guys and fast as all get out. Got my car back in under 2 hours for rotors and pads all around.
They do great work. And theyre very honest.
Avoid! Endless problems since they fixed our car for $1000, and they dont stand by their work. Dont waste your money here!Update: still waiting on that call from the owner. I even called them directly to follow-up. Went to another shop that fixed the problem Tuffy caused for $200. Still $300 CHEAPER then what Tuffy quoted to fix the problem THEY CAUSED after the initial repair. I repeat, AVOID this place!
Excellent service. Detailed under the engine explanation of leaks/problems. Reasonably priced, got the Groupon, 3 oil changes for 28$.
They are the best ever. I absolutely love them. They dont rob you, lie to you, or break anything so you have to come back. Like a certain place Ive been to in Romeoville. So I recommend the Tuffy in Lockport over anyone. Ill only use them anytime Im in Illinois.
Service has went down since Ive been coming here for about two years. I feel like they want just the money ππ and you dont really care for the customer any more!!
Great service all the time. No complaints at all.
Would give 0 stars if possible. I waited a week to get in for an oil change, and that was the soonest appointment available. The guy on the phone wouldnt take my name or number, so guess what happened when I showed up a week later?? You guessed it, he claims to not have an appointment for me. Im sitting across the street now so freaking angry and my car in desperate need of this oil change/new brakes, trying to figure out a different place to go. This guy was rude and condescending when I walked in AND THEN CANT EVEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO SET AN APPOINTMENT. He left me in the lobby while him and three others leaned on a toolbox in the workbay to chit chat, so I just walked out after a while.
These people are scam artists. I purchased the $15.99 oil change. I paid for the Groupon and then was charged 38 more dollars because according to them my car would not take the regular oil and needed synthetic oil (which is a lie). They also did not give me a choice. Then to top it all off my husband called and the owner was extremely rude and hung up on him. This was very unprofessional.
My truck went in with a simple problem and came out with a destroyed engine. I had just recently put an engine into the truck that had nothing wrong with it. Picked my truck up and it stopped two blocks away, I was told tough luck when I called them about it. Even the police know how bad they are as they made a mention of them after helping me push my truck to the side of the road. Please go elsewhere, they will destroy your car especially if they think you may find someone to do the work cheaper they are a scam. Even told me they charged me hundreds of dollars for nothing out of their own mouths.
Tuffy Auto has earned my future business because of their commitment to do right by their customers. They fix it right the first time, are very reasonable with repair costs and are accommodating with scheduling the work.
My windshield wiper stopped during a blizzard while I was driving to buy tires for my car. Tuffy was a block away. I pulled in and asked them to check my fuse. They said it was probably the motor, but it could be a few things. They asked me to sign a paper allowing them to charge me $50+ dollars every half hour to find the prob. I said please just check the fuse. After I signed the paper because i could not drive out of there without wipers in a snow storm, they put my car up on the lift. I asked them y they were doing this and they told me they would be with me momentarily. Over an hour later they told me the good news was it was a fuse and it would only be $54 to change and the bad news is I have over $7000 In engine issues. So could I just sign a different paper authorizing the ordering of over $4000 in parts so they could schedule the work. I was flabbergasted and looked at the 2 pages of work that was flagged to be done immediately. One problem stated oil was spilling into my turbo. I asked them what made them do all this checking when all I needed was a fuse. They said my engine light was on. Yes it was on, and I already had that checked by my regular mechanic who told me my catalytic converter was going and the part was $250.00 but assured me the car was safe to drive until I saw him in 2 weeks. My car is 12 years old and has 180K miles. Its not even worth $7000. The guy behind the desk expected me to sign that paper. When I said no I could not sign the paper, he tried to pressure me into just buying tires since mine were so bad. Why would I spend so much on tires for a car that is ready for the bone yard? The guy just mumbled an answer i did not understand. I told him to put my spare on the worst tire and got out of there. The next day I went and got tires, but when the tire guy went to put my spare back under my car he said the parts to keep my spare under the car were missing. Really!?!?!??!?!?! Thanks again Tuffy! Its a month later, my car is driving fine without the $7000+ they told me was emergent in nature. The only problem I have, is the rolling spare in my hutch because I do not have the parts Tuffy took off to replace the spare. I do not recommend this establishment for anything.Delete review
I love this place. Always so friendly. Helped me out soo many times. I moved over a hour away, and I still take the drive out there to fix my car (even oil change).
I had a great experience at Tuffy this week. My car was making an odd noise and shaking somewhat yesterday morning. However, I had to get to work and get my son to daycare. I called Tuffy and they were able to fit me right in AND the owner offered to drive me to drop my son off at daycare and me to work! They called right away with an estimate and were okay with holding off on the work until I gave the okay. (I called some other shops to price compare, because I have NO idea when it comes to this stuff!). Tuffys price was the lowest by at least $100. When I called back to give the go ahead- I asked if there was anything that could wait because the repairs were pretty costly. Thats when I found out about their payment options which were a huge help to me. Overall, they saved me yesterday is so many ways! Theyve got a customer for life!
Service was great. Paul was friendly and straightforward with the issue, no bull (I work on cars, Im not a tech, but I get by). Trustworthy people
Fast and friendly service. Will definitely use their service again.
I went in there for a job interview...they seemed like very good people, the owner is very involved in the community, excellent neighborhood place to get work done... I would have given them five stars...but I didnt take the job .
Horrendous experience with Tuffys Lockport. Came for oil change left with a Check engine light went to Auto Zone diagnostics said electrical wire to transmission not receiving signal or speed sensor problem. Had a mechanic look at my home because care barely was drivable home! My 2 wires to my transmission we cut! They had me tow it back at my expense lies and denied and then a second expensive tow to a reputable repair shop. Steer clear if you value you car sounds by other reviews they do this often. To respond that you are sorry and to blame the other Shop is outrageous! You viewed the video, so you know your inexperienced mechanic mistakes my Transmission Filter for the oil filter! Cut my wires and turned the extremely dangerous car back to me! If youβd like to clear your companyβs reputation the answer is in the video. You can show me too. His filthy fibgerprints and scratches to my new filter along with pink transmission fluid in the seams tells me what really happens! The other shop DID NOT do THIS! Iβm sad that people have the need to cover their mistakes and lie to me! The answer lies In your video if one even exists! This is a simple solution to clear your business name and reputation!
I went to get a headlight bulb changed and was told it was $123.00 plus some change. I guess they thought it was my first rodeo. I go to Jiffy lube and it was LITERALLY a $100.00 CHEAPER. What a freaking rip off. TUFFY claimed they had to take my grill off & it was going to be an hour worth of labor, WTH. It took Jiffy Lube less than 15 minutes between vehicles to get me in & out. Donβt trust this place. Convenience isnβt always the best. I went 10 more minutes out my way smh. Either that, or they need to get up to date mechanics working with newer vehicles. I even called the clerk and told her (Susan) I believe her name was on 1/24/18 about the BIG price difference. I wish I had of looked up the reviews prior to goingπ². I hate that I had to give one star to comment π€¦ββοΈ.
Good service... decent prices
This place is a joke... I did want to give them a chance.. so I went even after reading bad reviews....I went in for suspension work on my chrysler 300.. I had struts replaced by a friend and I dont think they were installed correctly. It was making a clanking noise and driving very loosely. So I went to to Tuffy to get an idea of what was wrong.... they looked at a few things and told me the last people that worked on my car didnt use new parts and explained to me the Strut mounts would need to be replaced... along with control arms and sway bar links.... Totaling $1534.21 and then they offered me a payment plan... they said if I couldnt afford it I could get some work done costing around $600.... how about bo! Long story short I got my car fixed by a friend and it cost me $50.. The screw on top of the strut, under the hood was not tightened all the way and it was loose... A simple fix! No need to say Im not going back. Yes they could fix it but at the cost of a lot more money!
I think Tuffy ripped me off. My wifes car was overheating, so we brought it in. They said the radiator needed to be replaced along with all the hoses (upper, lower, and bypass). The quote they gave me seemed pretty outlandish compared to a similar job Id had done on another car, but I didnt want to drive the overheating car any further, so I let them go ahead. In the mean time, I called a few other mechanics to get a quote on the same job. Then I called a few more. I ended up calling 7 or 8 other shops, and the _most_ expensive quote I got for the same work was $350 less than what Tuffy charged. Even other Tuffy shops quoted $400 less than this one. I complained and the guy knocked off a little bit, so two stars for the small effort. But I believe they knew the car was theirs, and loaded up the price.
I get a Groupon from their business . They lied about the service i will get . Itβs the oil change . I called them yesterday to make sure about everything is the right as i want . They told me the price and everything is correct. But when i get there . There was a lady who with cold face told me different story. Itβs really far by the way, you need to pass 2 ipass stations . i would say thatβs the worst experience i ever had .i will never come back . And I donβt recommend this business to anyone else.
First time at this location, good service will going back in the future.
Itβs just very expensive but the work is done right
They take awhile on oil changes, the car has random issues after you leave them, and very rude and pushy customer service.....
Tufts in Lockport has great customer service. Always so friendly and helpful.
Great place. They know how to fix cars!! Car problems? Go to tuff auto center!!
Tuffy in Lockport is the only place I will take my Car. They are by far the best in the area and you can trust them.
After purchasing a used vehicle from a local resident, I thought I had made a great decision as it ran good and looked decent for the price they were asking. Afterwards, I drove straight to Tuffy in Lockport.I had had work done before at Tuffy in Lockport and have come to expect the forthright, straight service they specialize in. It is why I return to them for all my automotive needs and recommend them to my friends and family. A good honest automotive repair service is hard to find so I stick to Tuffy time and time again.Upon inspection of my new treasure, Paul, the service manager took me aside and asked if I had already paid for the vehicle or was just bringing it them for a once over before purchase. I said I had indeed paid for it and he then proceeded to take me to my vehicle where they had inspected it and went through it point by point as to what had been found and what their recommendations were, thankfully most of them minor. At one point tho, he looked at me and asked if I had ever seen a certain appearance of a part we were looking at. When I said no, he said to me, βI am curious about the condition of this because the only time I have ever seen it look like this was when the vehicle had experienced (this) to it.β I told him the seller had not mentioned anything that serious before the sale. I thanked him for his inspection and thought about the comparison he had told me about. I drove directly over to the sellerβs place and in a round-about way asked about what repairs had been done to this part. When he started hem hawing around and then mentioned one of the key phrases Paul had used in describing the mishap, I knew Paulβs suspicions were correct. I asked for my money back and the seller didnt hesitate one bit. A huge sigh of relief was heard, knowing I had taken good looks over good performance and repairs.Paulβs respect and professionalism for my purchase and pride are just two of the many reasons for what is going to keep me coming back to Tuffy. The owners, Susan and Chuck, are great people and try to provide only the best of service professionals like Paul and deserve our business. In a world where women are not always as vehicle savvy as we should be, itβs nice to know a local company has my back. Thanks Paul, Susan and Chuck for looking out for me.
This is a good honest place to bring your vehicle for great service with a great price.
Very profession, reliable, and trustworthy
Chris is Awesome
Friendly counter staff, easy in and out
Fast service. Friendly workers.
These mechanics are trustworthy, respectful and very reasonably priced.
This is the best Tuffy location ever! Ive only lived in Lockport a handful of years, but they have been wonderful since day one. I took my car in not too long ago because all of a sudden it was hard to crank, and when it did, it was sputtering. When I told Susan the symptoms, she said it sounded like bad gas. And theyd just had a meeting that morning because the BP gas situation had just come to light. When I told her I wasnt sure if the last gas purchase was from a store that bought from BP, she didnt tell me to call and find out; she said tell her what gas station it was and she would find out! And so she did, and it was BP gas. She gave me the 800# for claims, I called it in, gave her the claim number, and she proceeded to take care of everything else without me lifting a finger. Before I knew it, I had all new parts and she handled the payment directly with BP. And dealing with BP was no small task. I had to call several times to complete the claim process, and it was a mess. Every person I spoke with gave me a different answer - I had a claim, theyd never heard of me, they heard of me but couldnt find my file etc. I have a pretty good idea of what Susan must have gone through with BP to get this taken care of, and she never once complained. This is the kind of service you just cant find anymore. Kudos to the Lockport Tuffy!
Our 07 Sante Fe made a high pitched sound when starting it up after hitting the remote start button one morning. I heard it shut it off & started 2 more times with the same noise occuring. So I went out to see what was going on & just shut it off manually. There was a burnt smell from inside the car & under the hood but I did not see anything out of place. We have an extra car & both my wife & I had to go to work so we left the car at home to look at later when we got home. When I got home I tried to start it again & nothing happened but the dash flashed a wierd light show. Our cars are newer so I really dont have a place to have mechanic work done but had a reccomendation from a friend for this Tuffy store. I called Tuffy to have it towed in to see what was wrong. The next day I got a call from Sue the owner of Tuffy & said the starter had burned out. Possible cause was a wiring issue for the auto remote start we had installed about a month prior. When starting the car in park or neutral, the starter starts the car normally but would not disengage with the engine. So the starter would run as fast as the engine which it is obviously not good for the starter. The tech at Tuffy called the place who installed the remote start on our car to tell them there was a problem with the wiring. These guys put remote starters on our 3 kids cars with no issues. They did not believe it was their work causing the problem but did tell the tech how to disconnect some fuses so the remote start could be disabled. Once they did that. the starter worked as it should. Sue called & said it was the remote start which was now disconnected but the starter has been replaced & the car starts normally now. She suggested I approach the remote start company for at least the cost of the starter. I kind of think they owe me for the tow, labor & the starter but I am a reasonable person. I picked up the car after hours the next day & when I starterd it up it did the same thing/noise as before. Of course I was disappointed but I thought there must be something else wrong that didnt show up while they were working on it. I called Tuffy the next day to explain what happened the night before. They could not believe it was doing the same thing but said they would bring it back in & see what is hapening now. After another hour of trying different things, they could not get the starter to act up for them. But believed me that it did it to me the night before. The tech mechanic decided to tilt the steering wheel up & down & start the car in different positions of the steering wheel column. Sure enough! With the steering wheel in the upmost position the starter would stay engaged while the engine was running! Move the column down a couple notches & it would be fine. Sue called the remote start company again & asked if they connected to &/or ran wiring in the steering column-they said YES but said they wanted to see & repair the wiring if thats what was causing the starter to act up. Sue had the car driven over to the remote start place quite far away so they could repair the wiring (which was pinching & shorting out in the column when it was in the higher position). They re-connected the remote start, tested it & all was fine. The car was driven back to Tuffy & Sue called us again to say it is all ok now.We have not had another problem since. The bill from Tuffy was a lot less than I expected. They charged us for one fourth of the time they actually spent on diagnosing the problem & did not charge us to take the car back & forth to the remote start dealer. This could have been really expensive but Sue & Chuck from Tuffy in Lockport were more than fair & went way past the level of customer service I have received from similar businesses.
Well run place, not too happy about the $4.50 fee they ambushed me with for oil disposal on my groupon for an oil change. ...Live and learn.
After having work done there, my car wasnt right. So I took it to ford. They said whoever changed the control arms ruined them. Tuffy would not reimburse me the 1200 dollars I spent there. Had to pay 2,000 to make it rite. Turns out they put in the wrong control arm.It didnt fit so they forced them, and damaged other parts. New rack and pinion. Struts. Terrible service. Rude owner. Crappy mechanics. Do yourself a favor and go to the dealer. I wouldnt let them wash my windows
Great work recommend this place
***Donβt go here! They charged me $58 to tell me what I already knew was wrong with my car. I just wanted a quote. This place is a JOKE!
Fast service.
Honest, trustworthy, and friendly!
Quick and Great Service!
Always do a great job!
They told me my car battery was original to the car. I guess cause I am a girl I wouldnt remember installing the one I purchased that said NAPA across the top.
Great people and price!
Place was great at working us in on busy work week.
Great customer service!
