Its a compact Indian grocery store with a small restaurant inside. Surprisingly large seating options for such a small shop. Its kind of expected that you wont get the best service but wasnt bad. I had some samosas & other appetizers and it was decent. All food items are vegetarian. They have curries and dosas. Good Indian grocery selection. Limited fresh vegetables, mostly packaged items.
Okayish. We ordered mysor masala dosa, chana bhatura, dahi fuchka, regular fuchka, masala chai and lassi(sweet and salted). I am a fan of mysor dosa and chana bhatura, but, I did not like it much here. They were okay. In chana bhatura, chana was good but bhatura was not actually bhatura at all, it was very thick and different. Fuchka was okay, but towards sweeter side. We could not finish the lassi because they were too salty. Chai was also okay but not good.
I have had the hot food about 6 times from this location and always leave feeling satisfied. I recommend the two sides with the samosa option. I enjoy the dipping sauces provided lots of vegan or vegetarian options. Fair price for the portion size. I also recommend checking the store, lots of rice, spices, herbs and other healthy food options!
On my first visit to India Sweets & Spices, I had a great experience. It seems that a majority of people that came during my visit came for the food. It is quite a small, cramped grocery store but my review focuses on the restaurant portion. It is a pick and chose menu where you can see the prepared dishes before you pick them for your plate. I tried the Mutter Paneer and the Jack Fruit Curry which were both pretty good. It came with rice and 1 roti. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. The Mutter Paneer did have an odd aftertaste but maybe that is the way they flavor it here.
I love this spot. They have hot curries, cafeteria-style ranging from the staples (saag paneer, malai kofta) to the unusual (jackfruit, eggplant). They also have a variety of fresh snacks (pakora, alu tikkis). The Mysore dosa is a dine-in delight. Grocery store is a plus for a quick purchase. Love bringing friends here!
Great place for Indian groceries and vegetarian food bar.
Great store and a nice cafe to pick up some tasty food. We enjoyed our first visit there 👍👍
Super lovely counter-service with tons of seating outside. Vegan options clearly marked. Not all dosas are vegan, just ask. Word to the wise do not get your dosa to-go 😂 theyre a work of art and deserve to be displayed in all their glory.
I have been a regular customer to this establishment for over 7 years. Ive always supported this family business. But over the few past years their customer service has been decreasing dramatically. I dont know if they value their customers like they use to. Business has just became business and no more community feeling. It breaks my heart to say that I will no longer be spending my money with them anymore. They have terrible attitudes and their food isnt even good anymore. They dont put the love in the food like they use to. Totally disrespectful and someone needs to close them down or buy them out.
This is my go-to location for authentic Indian food. The people that work here are like family and have great attitudes. There is also a market attached to purchase different types of goods
Ive come to this store for a very long time. Today I was disappointed. The Lassi was runny -- not creamy. The tamarind sauce for the samosa was runny and flavorless. The service was frustrating too. Unfortunately I was behind 2 ppl who kept adding to their orders but it was the inattentive service that was frustrating. Instead of attending the the several ppl waiting the staff kept busy with small work behind the counter or cleaning tables outside.
Local Indian Small market with hot foods, to go or simple out door dinning. I always order a Dosa, order a plate of food and Medium Chai tea. The chai is mediocre but I need a cup to brave the freeway to drive back home. I’ve been coming her for 30 years and it’s always the same goodness. Thank You always! #ICYMI
Just like dabas on India, Vegetarian and a nice grocery. Best Indian chai we had in the US
Great selection of food every day. Love the chai!
Horrible service. I went few weekends ago around 4 pm. 3 people were behind me in line. When my turn came to order as I was ordering the owner realized I am placing take out order so he made me wait and took orders of other 3 people who were behind me. I was very upset as it’s not fair to made me wait when it was my turn. I had to get somewhere in time which was delayed because of this horrible inconsiderate service. Also part of order I was planning to eat in car then only. Also food was not fresh and not good taste. If they have such horrible service in front not sure what they are doing in kitchen. I am never going there.
Lots of great Indian ingredients like currys. And the best British tea, PG Tips!
Went last night they were very unfriendly and inpatient when i was deciding what to order. Food is mediocre at best. I recommend going somewhere else.
Used to be very good. Idk what happened 🥴
The freshest Indian food I have had in a while
I regulary get freshly made vegetarian food and South Asian groceries from here. I love the small family business vibe.
Authentic Indian food 😋. Very reasonable price and great service.
Nice store guy. Wide array of Indian curry
The ready made food is absolutely perfect. Im no vegetarian much less vegan, but I love, love, love this place. The flavors are amazing! The store is little cramped but thats ok, I can move about the aisles.
Fantastic Masala Dosa and the Chai tastes straight from back home India. Bonus, they also serve Idli with tomato chutney so if youre looking for brunch ... youve found it here. They also have a wide range of spices!!! Definitely a must place to check out if in Culver City. They recently added a cute patio area outside.
Do NOT go here. It is dirty, unsanitary and be aware with the manager.
Great little restaurant and Asian grocery store. Has a section dedicated to delicacies and specialties from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. Food is awesome. People are very nice
Got groceries and dinner. Great vegan lassi and dal!!
Fresh turmeric, delicious ayurvedic drinks and teas. It is a small store with fresh produce and products from India and other Southeastern countries. I pleasantly ran into a delicious bar of Turkish chocolate the other day when I went to get some incent sticks... Oh, their food bar and masala tea are to die for... Also, very reasonably priced. They have a handful of fresh produce that is truly fresh. Highly recommended. And they are ultra kind and friendly.
Extremely dirty and unorganized. Not a safe place to get groceries and buy food.
Every day food are ready around 11am .
This place is wonderful! Friendly service. Ive had almost every dish and they are all good. When I go in, I tell the guy, May I have lemon rice and the 2 side orders, you pick! The mango lassi is also very good. Price is reasonable for the amount of food you get. And try the green sauce if you like good spice. Theres not many places Im so lenient with my food but they never disappoint. I also am in no way, shape, or form a vegan. Its not happening. However, I dont mind being vegan if I get to eat like this every day.
Delicious gulab jamun. Decent service.
Get your indian grocery and eat delicious food
This place has been here for nearly 40 years or more been going to that Indian store they carry lots of stuff very satisfied.
I bought food from here today. After eating 3 spoons, I noticed a blackout. Im having a crisis right now. A cockroach came out and its huge! Where can I complain as a government agency?
A wide selection of vegan and non-vegan curries and daal. Ive tried most of them and have yet to be disappointed. They also have a good selection of different barfi if you have a sweet tooth. The mandala chai is good. Outdoor seating during Covid.
Miss this place! Used to go once a week.
Great food. Good service. Great selection..
Great store with good customer service. These folks are so kind and so helpful the store has a good supply of many. Many products. I have been shopping g here. For over 10 years.
I have been going to this little store for over 15 years- the same owners, same delicious Indian vegetarian take out and wonderful array of Indian spices.I love going to this place and I always walk away feeling lucky to live in LA where you can food travel to at least 20 countries in a matter of minutes....
So many great vegan and gluten options. Reasonably priced as well.
Some of the best indian food around at amazing prices, as well as all my cooking needs AND a great selection of loose leaf teas. Always worth the trip!
Polite people and a great mom and pops shop for all your culinary Indian needs!!
Did the job in a pinch. Avoid the fried stuff later in the day. Lassi was good.
Plenty of vegetarian dishes. The eggplant was delicious. I highly recommend this placed
Best Vegetarian Indian food in LA! Casual buffet style. Good prices!
Delicious and fresh Indian cuisine and the desserts are soooo good! Lots of vegan options.Great customer service too. Well definitely be back!
Today not a good day, food was not hot, samosa edge on the hard side
Love this place.
Mostly its about the hot food bar: more selections than most similar places. Low prices; nothing fancy about the decor. Indoor & Outdoor seating. Good place to grab some Indian food to go. Street parking.
Great serviceGreat selection on hot barGood marketFriendly staffAnd fair prices
Yummy Indian food
Amazing samosas!! At $1.25 each, you cant beat that inexpensive and delicious lunch ❤️
The best vegetarian Indian food... Yummy 😋🤤
Me and my kids ate here for the first time yesterday & the customer service was superb, the lady serving the food was so sweet & full of personality. I had my hands full me and my two kids and the lady offered to let me go ahead and sit down and eat first before paying which I thought was really kind, considering the fact that I am African-American and usually people are not as trustworthy and automatically treat you like a criminal. That made my day I will definitely be back & the food was fresh and tasty.
Good place to grab a quick bite if youre craving Indian food.
Authentic South Indian Food! Highly recommend it
Just moved to Santa Monica area. Decided to pick up some Indian groceries. This place is a scam. Most non-Indian will not notice this. Groceries are over priced. You can very easily find same Indian groceries from another place for 50 cents or $1 less. Some of the products were unmarked. When I asked the shop boy working there, he shouted at me rudely.Food is highly overpriced and stale. I could hear the staff talking to each other in their native language saying that the food had already turned but we cannot throw it. We will try to sell as much as possible.Again, to my non-Indian friends, this place is very expensive and not authentic. Please try The Samosa house on Main Street and then you will understand the difference. I am in no way related to either of the businesses. Just want to share what I found, as a native.
Convenient, vegan, good, but not the best, still I give 4 stars cause Im irie
This is a very good store if you are in love with indian food and products. They have very nice and fresh vegetables for example real indian kurkuma - which is completely different from the Peruvian one - and other freshly cooked delicious food. I loved the halwa. I could have spent hours here with exploring the wide sortiment of indian beauty care products for example for the hair. Nice shop.
Who would have guessed this place has delicious Indian foods and fairs. Great selection or vegetarian and vegan options.
Everything is amazing ❤️💓☀️✨ highly recommend their masala dosa and/or anything on the bar.
I havent been here in years. Which that said, I tried with entrees (Daal, Paneer Curry) with rice. Wow... Good enough spice to not leave you with a sweat. I bought some treats for some people for Diwali. I do wish the sweets were more presentable but all in all, always good things here.
Really authentic food at good prices. People working here are super nice too! Love it. Their chai is amazing so def get some when you visit.
Love this spot. Theyve got a market and a walk-in buffet service. The food is fantastic and quality with very fair prices. Lot of love and home-style cooking into their food. As for the market, its a small but packed shop with all of the basic indian style essentials, with limited produce. Thank you, India Sweets & Spices!
Very Nice employees with delicious menu. I love their samosas and the eggplant potatoe dish. Recommended
Loved the south Indian guy there.. He is so good and so helpful.. And they have everything in there store related to Indians.. I must say they kept whole Indian food and sweets in a shop
A pretty good collection of Indian spices, teas, vegetables, etc. The food is okay, not great, but not bad.
Best Indian vegetarian fast food you will find anywhere on the Westside. It is a grocery store! Good for a quick bite or take home varied size containers filled with yummy curries and more.
Ok ok
I have been a patron of this little grocery and hot plate cafe for over 15 years in Culver City. They are always considerate and pleasant in serving their customers. The vegetarian menu is fantastic and I always leave with something from the grocery to take home~ So glad they are in the neighborhood.
Food is great.Of course the spice is so many to choose from.they have the best sweets ever .so much to choose from..they let you taste before you buy it
Delicious home made Indian food. Been coming here for many years with consistent quality. Its cafeteria style, and sometimes the ordering process feels rushed, but owners are friendly and have a loyal customer base. Vegan and GF friendly.
We were searching for an Indian food place for a long time and finally landed on this spot coz this was the only one open at the hour of our need and this was the closest to our accommodation. There were two ladies at the counter and one (the one who was wearing a puffy jacket) was sweet and helped us place the order. First regarding the food it was average and the food lacked salt. Though the aloo parata was good. Now coming the part that was really bad was the way the second lady (the one in pink sweater) treated us. She was rude and very curt. We were about to ask her if v could have a candy from the counter (it was for customers to take ). She was damn rude and said “only for kids”. We were taken aback by the way she told us coz there was no sign saying it was only for kids. She could have been kind and politely told us the same.Never visiting again.
Overrated. Food is mediocre. Grocery has limited selection. The people behind the counter, however, are attentive and competent.
I love the food here. Nothing is salty here. I took my Indian friends here and they loved it. They kept coming back to get the food every day until they go back home. Palak Paneer is my favorite. They also have really fresh ginger.
I love this place. It has a very homey vibe and it shows in the food. Tastes like Id imagine an Indian mother would make. Hot and delicious and vegetarian
Wonderful variety of groceries & food court. Heavenly mangoes!! Sweet, friendly staff. Mohan and Susan are great, friendly open-hearted people.2 Qs (Quality + Quantity) 2 India Sweets & Spices.
Indian grocery market with fresh food. Nice warm chai tea and delicious mango lassi. They also make food to take out or dine in.
Authentic, tasty, dishes priced right! India Sweets & Spices is a small local market carrying a variety of incense, soaps, oils, international foods. Divine!
Lots of variety of curries but the taste was a little bland. My friend had masala dosa which she said was good.
One my favorite places for indian food, mainly I go there for masala dosa
Amazing food fir a great price and they have a wide range of indian grocery for a great price.
Samosa House is much much better but this place is pretty good also. Not as flavorful but it will fill you up. Who doesnt like Indian food?
Love spices
I love this place! Whenever Im in the neighborhood I stop in. The food is good and its reasonably priced.
Food wasnt that good the last time I ate there. There wasnt enough salt in any of the dishes or chutneys. For the quality of food their prices are a bit too much.
Great selection, nice people.
Greasy so-so food. Big bags of spices, good. Low prices on spices, in plastic sealed bags. Some are really low low quality, bad. No returns either if opened. But ever so ethnic.I would be a return customer, in spite of my 3 rating.
