I took the PADI Open Water Scuba Diving course here at Southwest Aqua Sports and the class was Top-Notch! The instructors worked very hard to make sure everyone understood and felt comfortable performing the skills to scuba dive. I was a little nervous about doing some of the required skills but the instructors Rachelle and Chad were extremely helpful. This is the only place I would recommend people go to for scuba diving certification in Lubbock.
I love My Aerobics Class and Instructor Kathleen Williams 🤍🌸🤍🌸She is such A Wonderful Woman of GOD and very attentive to us. My little peace of paradise 🤍🤍🤍💦💦💦
This was one of the best massages Ive ever had. Allena is very personable and is highly skilled at giving a great massage. Ive already booked for next month!
Great place to be at they treated us great Fair I would recommend that place to family and friends thanks.
Nice pool, lots of lanes, open lap swim almost all day. Lockers and locker room are very basic, but plenty of showers. $10 day pass.
Went to a meeting that was separate from the business but the facility was excellent.
Relaxing atmosphere with positive results.
Signed up my son for swim lessons last year....as the pandemic took hold, we decided it was best if he didnt go anymore. Sent an initial email in early April 2020 asking for his membership to be cancelled knowing full well that I would still be charged for the month of May since we notified them of the cancellation after the 1st of the month. Never received so much as a phone call and was charged for June-August 2020 even after repeated pleas to cancel the membership. $40/month is not a lot of money, but its the fact that I had to call every month, begging them to cancel the membership but yet they still felt the need to ignore my call(s) and continue to charge me for an additional three (3) months. When asked if I would be receiving a refund for the three months that I was fleeced for, the young man just chuckled and said yeah, she wont refund the money. So the boss lady has decided that stealing money from people who no longer want/need their services is the best way to conduct business in what is for the most part a one-horse town. I strongly recommend you avoid this business at all cost for they steal your money for months, even after you write and/or call them to cancel your membership. It is tragic that this type of behavior is pretty common nowadays from most people; if she did it to me, you know shes doing it to other people who no longer want to patronize her business. This is the epitome of a company who doesnt care for their customer base and who blatantly steals. Disgusting!
Had a great rehab session. Wanting to find out about memberships and open times of pool.
My sister and I went here and it’s real nice. The staff was nice and let us know every question we had. The locker room showers were kind of dirty but aside from that, The pools were clean and warm. And for a day price it’s only $10 a person. Can’t wait to go back!
Its a great place to go swimming. They have two pools. One for laps. The other for play and exercises. Its in door so it can be used all year.
I love the work outs they offer and the ladies that teach the classes are wonderful.
Fun and friendly.
Great place love the atmosphere.
I love it. Never have to worry if the water is warm OR Not... consistently comfortable! Staff members are always kind
I enjoy going to the therapy pool for my physical therapy. I use a walker due to an accident and go there for PT. The only negative issues I have with Southwest Aqua Sports is that the water temperature never seems to be consistently warm. But by far my biggest complaint would have to be the locker room doors!!! The doors to go in and out of the dressing rooms are WAY TOO HEAVY. They are too heavy and the tension on the doors is way too tight because it makes the heavy doors close too fast. For an aquatic center that puts a big focus on the therapy pool for people that are rehabbing and disabled you would think it wouldn’t be such a fight just to go into the men’s dressing room. The doors are so heavy and they close so fast they’ve almost knocked me down a few times. I really want to buy a membership but I can’t make myself buy one with the those doors being such a hassle. I’ve spoken to the ladies a few times that work up at the front about the doors but I’m not sure if they know exactly what to do about it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look into fixing these doors👈👈👈
WOW nice place, and the folks r super nice hope to get my dive certification!
Have kids running the place who would rather talk and joke with each other than doing business. Brought my (5 year old) daughter here for swimming lessons. We were running a few minutes late the first day. The guy at the front counter didn’t want to help us till my wife said something. He finally put us with a group but was the wrong group (group up from where she belonged). She stayed in this group learning to swim till 2 days till then end and moved her down. She regressed from there on.I will not recommend anyone go to Southwest Aqua Sports and will tell everyone that thinks about going there to rethink decisions and read the reviews.
Been a member here for several months and I love it! People are wonderful and therapeutic and lap pools are the bomb.
It is hard to find a nice place to swim and have fun with family that is not way too crowded, or too expensive. This facility is great for swimming, with both Olympic size pool and nice hydrotherapy pool that is very warm. Love it. If you like to dive, add in a lesson. Best scuba team in town!
Im in swim aerobics class!!!!! Love it!I wish they had someone after each class to do dressing room cleaning.....I hate to go in there after class to shower off and cringe not wanting to touch anything especially the floors have gobs of hair, toilet paper and yesterday wadded up foil.......I’ve told my instructor and I know she has reported it........hire someone to make sure they are kept clean and floors squeegeed...........
My SO did the Open Water Course here and they were very friendly and made it easy for a beginner. We came back later to get Nitrox certification and that was great too. Prices are good and they have some great deals from time to time. Plus they have a good dive community.
Southwest Aqua Sports is the indoor aquatic center Lubbock has needed. Their water is bigger, cleaner, and safer. Their pools are sanitized using UV light as the primary sanitation, not chlorine. While the location at 3909 North Frankford Ave is new, the business has been in Lubbock since 2001 as the dive shop you may have known at 58th and Slide. In their new bigger facility they continue to provide scuba gear as well as all aquatic sports activities, in addition to providing lifeguard and CPR certifications. The indoor facility is available year-round for swim lessons, competitive swim team events, and private parties. Memberships for lessons and classes are available for swimmers of all ages for laps and open swim in the large pool, with water aerobics and specialized classes for seniors as well as people with special needs in the rehab therapy pool.
This place is great for a professional swimmer to a casual swimmer they have nice heated pools with a 5 feet pool that is pretty big that is heated to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and then a 16 ft pool heated to 80 degrees the 16 ft pool also has people sometimes scuba diving at the bottom of the pool
Best place for water aerobics!!
UNSAFE: DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE! My 3yo just finished up with the turtle class (3-5yo) and a girl in his class ALMOST DROWNED...her mother had to jump in and save her! Management didnt bat an eye when informed. While the instructor was great, the management has left this place completely unsafe. On this particular day (tues 6/18/2019 some time between 5:45 and 6PM) there was no lifeguard on duty. She was allowed to clock out early. The way the lessons go: kids are taken 1 at a time across the pool by their instructor, leaving the rest of the 3-5 year olds to sit patiently on the side wall, unsupervised. Of course thats not going to go well! The pool is also used by any member for free-swim DURING lessons, with no designated area for lessons vs free-swim, so there are many people in between the instructor+1 and the rest of the class. When my son was taken on a kick-board across the pool, a 3yo girl (I will simply call her S) must have climbed off the wall and into the water. Ss mom and I were chatting and looked over to see the top of Ss head barely poking out of the water a few feet behind a staff members back. Ss mom and I hopped up, she ran to her daughter and jumped into the pool, fully clothed. The staff member (teaching another class) turned around just before she jumped in and later told her (in front of me) that he had no idea why she was jumping in, and thats what alerted him to a situation, not S flailing a few feet behind him (management later tried to claim he was rescuing her, but thats an outright lie) Nobody saw her but us... There was no one on duty watching, and instructors are obviously trained to only focus on 1 kid at a time, backs to the others, swimmers in between. We were all shaken up as hero-mommy climbed from the pool, pounded on her daughters back, then hugged the terrified 3yo into her chest. The teenage lifeguard (who was told she could clock out early) apologized, saying she thought it was covered, and immediately owned up to the mistake. She acted in a more mature way than any of the adults in management. The lady who teaches the water aerobics class comforted S and her mom, stating that this (the negligence and lack of supervision/basic safety measures) is an ongoing issue she has brought up to management on numerous occasions. She suggested the mom speak to Rachelle, who I guess is the owner. Well, Rachelle left, but the lifeguard called her immediately and had to relay Rachelles message to the scared mother: shell talk to you tomorrow. The next day, Ss mom waited to talk to Rachelle, but she was on the phone and not in her office. I was surprised she hadnt called the mother to begin with. She NEVER spoke with the mom, but had the (new) manager, Harrison, speak to her instead because he had been briefed on what to say. They brushed everything off as nothing, made excuses like, well, were trying to hire more lifeguards and, were a private pool, we dont even need to have lifeguards even bringing up the fact we sign a liability waiver when enrolling our kids in the class etc. They didnt take any responsibility, show any concern, promise immediate changes, nothing... not even offering anything like extra classes (not that Ss mom would ever have taken them up on it). They didnt care in the slightest. Inexcusable. Disgusting. This is no way to run any business, let alone a pool, and its no way to keep kids safe! Clearly things are not going to change, and their only concern is the $140. I was worried from day 1, kept a watchful eye on my son the whole time, and am glad I did because my suspicions were (sadly) confirmed. They should NOT offer swim lessons if they hold no interest in keeping the kids safe... They shouldnt even have their pool open if they cant keep it safe! I will never be returning, am telling every parent I know, and am sharing this here all in hopes that everyone stays SAFE, avoids this place, and Southwest Aqua Sports might eventually, finally feel forced into figuring out some proper safety standards. I am absolutely horrified.
Wonderful experience! Staff and other members are helpful and friendly. There is a lap pool and therapy pool. Both are great. Nice and clean facility.
They had a sale going and the staff was very helpful and friendly! I would recommend this place to anyone who is just starting with diving or snorkeling.
Went for a swim the other day with my niece and it was great. The water was clean, clear, and warm. I look forward to swimming there again.
Great facilities. Cool water. Swam some laps and have signed up for the month.
