I was frantic as I was sending my hybrid car to my son who is in the military and the check hybrid system light came on. I panicked! The dealership didn’t help but when I called EP, the owner reassured me. He drove out of his way to assess my system. Through deductive reasoning, figured out my problem in short order! He was personable, kind and very knowledgeable! I highly recommend this business. If you have a hybrid please uses this business to ensure the consistent health of your system! Worth every penny!!!

I had a prius inverter coolant pump replaced - it took 45 minutes and cost less than half of the cheapest other mechanic I called. Plus same day service, and Eric even drove out to my work to do the repair without charging any fee for it. I’d highly recommend EV Powers for any hybrid work!

Was looking into used EVs and spoke with the owner Erik (sp?) twice. He offers a $110 service where hell check the entire vehicle and perform a scan of the battery to determine the amount its degraded. Was extremely knowledgeable and generous with his time and thoughts. We ended up buying new but I wont hesitate to give him my business moving forward.

Ive known Eric as a hybrid expert and an industry leader for more than a decade. After logging nearly a half million miles on my own hybrid vehicles, I was finally in need of his services.After getting an array of dashboard lights and a few codes on my ScanGauge, Eric spent 30 minutes on the phone walking me through all my options. Eric was able to explain to me a lot about the car and diagnosed possible frayed wiring as a light that came up, even went out to get the codes for me so I can buy it cheap! Highly recommend his services bless this man.

Amazing experience with the best, most professional Insight mechanic Ive seen. Eric replaced the IMA battery from Bumble Bee in my 2005 CVT and did it right on the trailer so we didnt even have to unload it. He made the whole experience pain free. We had accidentally left the key in accessory mode so the 12v was dead and Eric took it out and charged it for us free of charge. I will definitely use him again...hes 2-1/2 hr from me but, I am glad to drive the distance for such great work. Its great to have someone working on my car who I can trust. Thanks Eric!!

When my Prius threw a code and warning lights I was told that I should call a few different places before getting it fixed. The dealership told me that even though I had the code, they were going to charge me a fee to figure out what the code was saying, and that they didnt have an appointment for several weeks. When I Called EV Powers, and told him the code, he knew exactly what the problem was, said that it is a common problem, and told me how much it would cost. I dropped of my car that night, and he had it fixed before the estimated time. This is not only a positive review of EV Powers, but it is a negative review for the dealership who didnt even know the problems with their own vehicles. Thank you Eric.

Eric is a scholar and a gentleman. Not only did he accommodate something of an emergency, he explained the options, cost, and possible life that might be expected from the various parts and options, and then completed the service requested at an unprecedented low cost and short time. I own heavy equipment so understand at least the basics of mechanical repair and mechanics themselves. Eric is a rare breed. I will try to direct all the hybrid jobs from those owned by our business, as well as recommend to family and friends. Outstanding!

The check engine light came on and was showing code P1121 coolant valve on my 2009 Prius. I gave them a call asking about the code and if they were able to fix this sort of thing. EV Powers called me back the next day and replaced the part quickly and at a fair price. I’ll be back!

I brought my 2004 Honda Civic over in hopes of having the IMA battery replaced. He called me back the day after and told me that he did not feel comfortable replacing it that day because he suspected my transmission was bad. I took it to get looked at elsewhere, and sure enough he was right. The repairs were too much, so in the end I ended up just getting a new car. So even though he never got the chance to work on my car, Im giving him 5 starts for his honesty and friendliness. He also was very good about answering questions and at explaining concepts in a very detailed, yet easy to understand manner.

A tire/oil shop botched a routine oil change on my Prius and it wouldnt start. Had codes pulled and thought main battery. Tow scheduled to Dealer, wanting $150 - when already had codes!On a last ditch effort, called Eric off hours and he not only answered, but gave me something FREE to try. Gave me better idea of what was really needed and worst-case cost.I WAS SOLD!Changed tow to EV Powers and for less than the diagnostic cost, he fixed the problem & ensured battery was fine! Brought my 09 Prius to Eric for a mysterious Heisenbug that turned out to be some corroded wires in the engine compartment. In the process of fixing them, he uncovered a damaged connector on the ECU that intermittently negated the accelerator pedal. He managed to track down a used replacement part in Stoughton that saved me a chunk of change, and then didnt even charge me for all the time he spent wrestling with this curveball of a problem. Really communicative, friendly, honest, and fair. Definitely my first call for all future problems!

I came to Eric because I thought I was having issues with my battery. In reality I had errantly bumped a diner switch. Not only did Eric diagnose the problem in seconds but he did so at no charge and never made me feel like an idiot for such a silly mistake. I will be using his service when actually needed.

I was getting ready to leave the grocery store today and I got the red triangle of death from my Prius, followed by absolutely no power at all! I thought I would have to get it towed to the dealer. I did a quick search and found out about Eric and that his business was close to where I was at. He told me it was most likely the regular battery, he was leaving Waunakee but was able to stop at his shop and pick up a new battery and fix it in the parking lot!! Firstly, Eric is one of the most personable people I have ever met, super friendly! He is extremely knowledgeable with electric vehicles (EVs), of all kinds. He expressed his passion for EVs within the first few minutes of talking with him, over the phone.My scenario: My wife and I have a 2006 Toyota Prius, with ~185,000 miles on it. We have owned it since 2014, and it has been a great car. Last year, in July, the car started to have issues with the high voltage (HV) battery. After some reading on the PriusChat forums, I felt confident enough to tackle the issue myself. I was able to troubleshoot and replace the bad battery module successfully.Fast forward nine months: Last week, I get the same error messages and same symptoms as last year. Turns out, I had another bad battery module. I take it apart and attempt to fix it again, like last time. This time, I wasnt able to fix it. It seems like I was chasing a never-ending issue, unless I replace the entire battery. Time to take it into the dealer to get an assessment... $138 and two hours later, I get a quote of $2900, with a 3 year warranty. I would have had to reschedule for a different day and they said it would have taken 4-5 hours.A little frustrated, I figured I should look to see if anybody else in Madison could help me. After a Google search of hybrid shops in Madison, WI, I come across EV Powers Hybrid Battery Service and Repair. Im certainly glad I called them. Basically, Eric made me feel way more comfortable than the dealer ever has and he told me to stop by his shop and he could swap it out the same day, for less money, with the same warranty!He advised me, ahead of time, that he was in the middle of moving his shop to a different location, and that he would be doing the removal and install in the parking lot. I could tell that he had done this a time or two... I wasnt even there for ten minutes and he had the battery out of the car already! I got there at 1:10 and he was completely done at 3:00. Not even a two hour job for him. He even provided routine maintenance that goes along with having that part of the car apart (cleaning the cooling fan) for free AND replaced one of the bolts that I, embarrassingly, cross threaded. In addition, I had ordered two battery module cells to attempt the fix the battery myself, and I had already installed them into the battery. He was kind enough to let me take those back out, to return them, AND he reassembled the battery for me.All around, spectacular experience! I noticed instant improvement in my mileage and performance, after the new battery. I will be recommending their services to anybody that has a hybrid. 🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋
