The space is neat, clean and inviting. The owners are conscientious about Covid precautions and have made every effort to make a safe shopping experience. Its a rare retail experience where you feel hosted, as if youre a guest, rather than sold a product. Its a place youll enjoy returning time and time again.

Drop the screen reading. Grab a book. Its time to show the difference between literacy and an avid love of books. Be sure to stop by when visitingread from the books right there in front of you and the calendar of scheduling thats put together by the bookstore. It really helps. It helps children have a love of books. It helps the books come alive for the children.

Village lights book store is a small local shop in the heart of downtown and it makes me so happy to visit here. Hanover is my alma mater so I get happy just walking in. It definitely helps that they have the cutest cat that just curls up in the shop.Furthermore they have dollar classics all the time and that rocks.Check it out book worms!

A neat little bookstore in the historical district of Madison. They have a pretty good selection, but if they dont have what you need they will order it for you. The owner brings her cats to the store and they lounge around doing things that cats do.

What a sweet place! The building and interior are beautiful and make you want to stay forever! The upstairs is gorgeous as well and has a place to sit down and read for a moment, if you need a second glance at the book you wanna buy. And theyve got a couple bookstore cats in there, too! Sometimes I wish it was a cafe or something so I could chill out and stay there all day

Absolutely delightful bookstore. New and used books available. Interesting selection. Beautiful classical music playing quietly. Very relaxing. As others have stated in the reviews, there are cats in the store. I am highly allergic to cats, but I have been in the store for over 30 minutes and havent experienced any ill affects.

I stop in everytime Im in Madison, IN. Staff is very friendly & knowledgeable. I was on a mission to find A WITCH IN TIME by Constance Sayers (just released last week) They didnt have the hardcover in stock yet, but offered to ship it to me in Ohio for .99c. That kind of customer service will keep me coming back. Dont be in a rush if you visit. With two floors you need time to browse.

A wonderful, quaint, and warm bookstore with an extensive selection and extremely helpful staff. The store is a beautiful old building with comfortable reading areas. There is an adorable nook under the staircase for children to read under. Anything you cant find there, they can order for you. Overall one of the most pleasant places for any bibliophile.

Comfy and intimate, Village Lights has an eclectic selection of new and used books that cover almost every genre. The upstairs reading lounge is a cozy oasis of overstuffed arm chairs, wandering cats and the smell of lignin. If you are very lucky you might be escorted up by Huckleberry, the resident canine staff member, while he does his rounds.

Amazing store. Like stepping back in time when books were the cutting edge of entertainment. The shop itself lends itself to the whole aura with hard wood every where. The owners are wonderful people who make everyone feel welcome.

Love walking into this great little book nook! I can always find a couple of great reads, and the staff is ready with recommendations. The resident cats contribute perfectly to the cozy, welcoming atmosphere throughout the beautiful historic building. The fact that the books are super-affordable is icing on the cake.

Love this local bookstore! The owners are helpful & will order anything you want. They even hand-delivered the latest Harry Potter book to my home. We also love to see the beautiful cats roaming the store.

Absolutely beautiful homage to books. Wooden floors, stairs, and shelves. Grand piano. Upstairs with places to sit and check out books. Books are nicely displayed and organized.

This is a very nice book store. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They will order a book for you if its not on the shelf, and you will probably have it in just a couple of days. Very nice location too, in historical Madison.

Wonderful family owned bookstore! They can order you any book you are looking for. They even delivered my book to my house when I couldnt drive after surgery.

Incredibly variegated experience, what with Poetpalooza, Poetry Café and all sorts of signings taking place at this veritable jewel of our Main Street... and sometimes, even free coffee from the roastery across the street!
