What can I say? Everything about this place is amazing. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The food was homemade and fantastic. My mom loved her coffee. And they have live music. Theres comfortable indoor seating. And its kid friendly. Excellent local business that supports the community. One of Madisons best hidden treasures.

Java Cat is a women owned business that I like to support. They serve good coffee and have a comfortable sitting room to talk with friends. Its nice to sit outside on a nice day. Their drive up window always seems to be busy. This was especially true during Covid, but now they are back to being open. Yeah!

Really bad experiences here - when Covid hit, and masks werent required yet, I was spat upon by one of the older workers (the owner) at their drive through window. She apologized - but - covered me in her spit. This was before we were vaxxed. This kind of non-commitment to safety, quality and communication is indicative of the entire operation at Java Cat (a glance at how their drive through is setup to spill into the busy Monona Drive will reveal that). Today, I waited for nearly 40 minutes for a breakfast food item, ordered when they were not busy. After spending hundreds of dollars there over several years, the value see-saw has finally tipped into the poor category at Java Cat. Food quality, cost and wait times are all unacceptable. I wish I could give it a higher review, but after being a loyal customer for several years and having the terrible experience there I did today, I simply cannot.

Meh. I have had better coffee. The drive thru experience is anxiety inducing. I was hoping to get a better coffee than the national chains, but it didnt happen.

Cozy place for a good cup of coffee. Comfortable chairs and a nice little fire going in the corner to keep warm. I tried the croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese - and the brioche with sausage patty, egg, and cheese. Both were good, however I dont think croissants are meant for a hot press... Seemed like it took something away from how its supposed to be... Light and airy. The brioche is definitely the way to go, would come back for that. Also had a Boston cream doughnut, and that was magical,fresh and delicious.

Not a coffee guy, but my wife likes this place, they seemed unorganized to me but maybe thats just how they like it idk.

Ive rated Java Cat Coffee one star only for the reason that their beverages are delicious otherwise do not waste your money on their over priced burnt food, it is bland and tasteless; I bought a breakfast croissant with bacon and a breakfast wrap with bacon both I could have made better myself in my own kitchen and honestly wishing I wouldve used the money I spent on those and gone to the store and bought materials for both, for a quarter of the price.

I love to work or relax in this independently owned coffee shop. The food is surprisingly good, and the coffee is excellent. My daughter loves the gelato, and the drive through window is a great way to get coffee on my way to work.

I had a coupon out of the entertainment book and it was for 50% off a beverage and the barista said I could not use it and that it was fraudulent. I contacted entertainment and they said it is not fraudulent and they could not understand why they were not excepting the coupons anymore when they agreed for the coupons to be in there. They took my coupon from me and wouldn’t give it back. Customer service was not friendly. Here’s the coupon section.

This is a great place to get a cup of coffee and to meet with friends. I havent been there since Covid, but prior to that, it was a busy place on a Saturday.

Breakfast croissant was excellent. Coffee is always the best.

I come to visit my family from southern California and I wish we had a Java Cat. The place is so friendly/welcoming and offers pretty much anything you want. I was surprised how much I liked it, given how particular I am with tea. Skip Starbucks, come here!

As a mama to a toddler, I appreciated the ability to bring my little to a coffee place and have a small area for her to play. The overall place is small so I wasnt expecting the kid friendly area, but it was a nice touch. I dont think more than 2 kiddos could be in the space so I wouldnt set up a bigger group playdate here.The muffin was delightful and finally a place with a London Fog on the menu! Besides the small parking area this place is a great spot!

Nice ambiance. Good place to do some work. Latte was decent. Had a good selection of pastries from nearby bakeries and a solid food menu. Staff was all really helpful and friendly. Would go back when in the area.

A coffee shop with feline inspiration- always a great combination! This cute and cozy local coffee shop was a great place to sit and get work done and they also had great coffee. My vanilla latte with oat milk was great and they had a variety of food items that looked good as well.

Great light, quiet enough to work, but not library-quiet. Good selection of food and drink!

Covid had disrupted drive through coffee shops, but this place is doing what it can to control the traffic, great coffee roast.

The chill and laid back atmosphere is great and the drinks feel much more homemade when they come in the mugs. My only complaint was that I had to wait a little while for the customer in front of me to finally pay because she had been standing off to the side chatting with an employee. Otherwise its a nice quiet place to talk with friends or get work done.

Sadly, they arent able to do food at the moment but their coffee and coffee drinks are worth the stop. Until they are able to do sandwiches again Java Cat is a great place for ToGo donuts and coffee.

I just moved to Madison from Burlington, VT and have been struggling to find good, local food/drink options that arent downtown.Java Cat really has the sort of vibe that reminds me of Burlington. Super friendly staff and just a good feeling while youre there.I havent had their plain coffee, but I have had some of their espresso drinks, like the Cafe Mocha. I dont personally think theyre strong enough, but theyre not bad. The baked goods are really great! But theyve usually run out of chocolate donuts when I get there :(.Parking is tight, and its always super busy/noisy. It tends to feel cramped. I think it could use a redesign inside. But all in all, I enjoy Java Cat quite a bit :).

Coffee is great, and so are the cookies. Its kid-friendly, but the atmosphere is very dark and gray and the lighting is cold. That bothers me, hence the four stars. Staff is nice.8/21/18 update: They repainted! It’s orange and gold and much brighter and more cheerful now! Five stars!

I came here for morning caffeine and ended up with a London fog latte and some amazing gelato! Both were very good and quickly prepared.Staff were extremely friendly and courteous, giving wonderful recommendations! I visited here once before and this place is definitely a coffee shop I enjoy whenever I’m in Madison. I’ll definitely be back!

I really love this place. The coffee is good and the scones do the job. The staff is charming and move quickly. And there is e small childs area that can give you a brief respite if needed.

Made my first stop..why, OH WHY, did I wait so long? Casual-cool place, friendly & efficient service and the breakfast sandwich on brioche was EXCEPTIONAL.**2nd visit 10.5.18** got a bacon, egg n cheese sand to go, A is for awesome. Love that brioche roll.**back again and tried the biscuits n gravy, not bad..a grade of B. A good value.

The last time I went there with a friend, the middle-aged woman behind the counter was rude to us and didnt give me all of my change back (short $10). When I called her on it she was mean and the owner? said she wasnt there to see what happened so she cant do anything!NICE OTHERWISE, BUT WILL NEVER RETURN!!!

There isnt the place that I enjoy stopping more! They have the worlds best chai tea. The people there are incredible. It just makes me so darn happy!

Ive been coming to Java Cat regularly for about two years. I love the staff. They are very friendly & helpful. My only complaint is that sometimes the coffee isnt very hot and at times its bitter. Maybe its due to the fact that I go there in the late afternoon? Maybe its been sitting for too long? I dont know. Im just saying. Overall, I love going there. As I say, The staff is terrific.

The sandwiches are very delicious. I will drive out of my way for one of them. It is a popular spot yet quiet enough for reading or working on your laptop. Staff are always very friendly. My favorite meal is tuna melt, cherry Italian cream soda and a mocha! Yum.

Good coffee and bakery, espresso drinks are hit or miss, last time I got a cappuccino it was a cup of off tasting foam with some espresso at the bottom. They need a much better system for service. Maybe instead of everyone trying to do everything, one person should just man the register, so orders get paid for and served in order. Doesnt make sense to get my coffee and then have to wait to pay behind the person who ordered after me.2019 update - changing it from 2 stars to 1, service has not improved at all.

Food is great and a great price! The latte I had was definitely good, just not sublime.Not at much cat decor as I expected from their description, but Im not a huge cat fan anyways. Just here for the food and coffee. 🙂

A neighborhood gem, Java Cat has any coffee drink you could imagine, a broad selection of teas, a range of breakfast and lunch options, a well stocked bakery case and delicious gelato. All this in a warm, inviting atmosphere with a friendly staff. Java Cat coffee has a loyal customer base for a reason.

I went to Java Cat today for my first ever time. The staff was friendly and the food and coffee were both good. I had the artichoke panini and would definitely eat that again. Prices are very reasonable.

I hadnt been to Java cat in quite a few years and decided to go and get a turkey and cheddar panini which I used to get all the time. The wait for my sandwich was a little bit too long and when I got it they didnt add onions like I had ordered and when I took the sandwich back to get onions they just slapped three little slivers of onion on. Im pretty disappointed in my experience with returning to Java cat....

The vibe was amazing. Their grilled cheese is bomb! And the baristas are fantastically friendly and actually care about me and their customers. Would highly recommend making this your number one coffee shop!

This is the best coffee shop around. Huge coffee and specialty drink menu and excellent sandwich menu. What makes this place stand out is the staff. They are friendly and know their customers by name, and take the time to chat when they can. There is also a wonderful selection of gelato made fresh daily on site.
