Delicious offerings abound at this wonderful Bakery. Our Grandson has peanut allergies and The Able Baker has many nut free offerings which are wonderful and allows our little man to enjoy with everyone else. Give them a try and you will return again and again

Got a birthday cake one evening for a next day afternoon pickup and it was ready by the next morning! Not to mention - it was delicious. Everyone swooned. The 6” was big enough for 12 people and it is so filling. That butter 🤤 highly recommend.

I love this bakery for so many reasons. Everything they make is delicious! They, however, truly transcend the amazing baked goods they put out. Today they went above and beyond to fix a mistake I’d made with my order. It was an amazing gesture, especially from an incredibly busy business on one of the hottest days of the year. I have been to this place many times before. Product is expensive but good.. Lately the service and the quality of products been failing. Ive ordered the brownie it was dry as a rock. Ordered a medium coffee asked for a drop of milk the coffee was nothing but milk. A lot of confusion they tell you they cant make a coffee then they can make a coffee Then you have to wait 5 minutes then they ask you to change to a different drink then they bring you a cup of something ....please improve your service and product

We ordered a Chocolate Raspberry Ganache cake for my mother in laws birthday and we’re definitely not disappointed! She loved it! The cake was moist and the raspberry went perfectly with the chocolate.

Should have been working out but instead I decided to come here.. sat outside in 70 degree weather with a light breeze for 2 hours...perfect weather this morning.... scones were really good.... it was really crowded and there were not that many seats available....ordered 2 cookies a scone and a drink.... solid place to stop by to get a coffee in the morning if youre in downtown short hills.....

Hands down the best scones around! Flakey and buttery. Different and interesting flavors daily. Friendly service. Great bakery overall. They have great Chai too 😋

I wish I liked this place better bc it is so so so conveniently located and very clean and cute. Service is also fast and friendly (hence the three stars), but the pastries are just...bleh. Too flat and sweet with no dimension. The cupcakes are moist, but boring, and the frosting is all shortening and sugar.

Nice things..lots of butter which is good but you have to be careful to not over do it...loved going there for years but our once a day$9-14 visits just about ended when they stopped the friendly practice of letting people use theyre bathroom.Then with the Covid they shut down and months later when other places were doing what they could to service people they were still closed for months afterwards. A year after that with the State opened for months they were still not letting people in the store last we were passed there.During the Covid luckily one guy in Millburn stayed open..the owner manned the Cafe with one guy in the kitchen for 14 hours a day 7 days a week with in store shopping and open bathroom.It gave us and others some respite to the lock down boredom.

This place is the most amazing bakery you will ever visit. The people who work here are always so nice and friendly. Even though you cant go inside now, it is so cozy and comforting. the scones are so crispy and soft. the apple cider is so delicious every day of the year especially now. One of the best place to get sweets or drinks any day of the year! 10/10

I absolutely love Able Baker. Every item on their menu is heavenly. Customer service is also too notch. All of the staff are professional and courteous but Ms. Andrea is super fantastically awesome. This morning I ordered breakfast for my mums birthday and Ms. Andrea assisted me and was so sweet. I highly recommend

If you are looking for healthy delicious food, this is it. I had the Margherita scone wasnt a fan, wish it was warmed up. Sadly, they dont warm them up at least that was cashier told me. I did enjoy their Iced black tea.

Your scones have always been wonderful. My issue is last time i ordered ahead on line when i picked up they told me they didnt have an item and suggested a substitute. No problem. Today Saturday I picked up an order that i did on line on Tuesday and again they suggested a substitute one which I didn’t care for then i was able to get something that i did care for only to find when i got home one scone was hard and flat almost resembling a chocolate chip cookie and looked nothing like cc scone. Will have to rethink if the 25 drive is worth it. Disappointed TheresaUPDATE: I went back online to give it another try and it was fabulous. I was happy with my purchase and will be back again. Updated my rating to five stars ⭐️

Gluten-free / dairy-free options that are also delicious, super friendly and patient staff.Accessibility notes: small somewhat cramped space, last time I was there they were not letting people inside due to covid, theres a small step up so wheelchairs and walkers may have an issue.

Very nice people, good service. I have celiac disease, so its wonderful to find a bakery where they make a variety of excellent gluten-free treats. I run a community organization and they are always supportive of local causes and members of their community -- truly a business with a heart!

Love this place so much!! Just tried their lemon thyme scone and it’s so good! Coffee is always so tasty, employees are always super nice and quick. To the owner keep doing a great job. Always a big fan!

Julie and her crew know how to bake! Everything there is delicious from their scones to the famous banana bread. My faves are the goats in the garden scone, cherry ginger scone, banana bread and the espresso shortbread cookies. YUM!

Such a quaint little bakery. The Able baker has amazing cookies (not to mention beautifully decorated), scones, and hot drinks.

Cranberry & coconut scone was great. Whole milk latte was weak & wasn’t hot enough. Latte alone is 3*.

Julie and team butter work so hard to bring you a product that is as good to eat as it is pretty to look at. The cookies they ice are sweet little gifts on their own! While I long for the home delivery Julie made years ago when she first started, I am thrilled that her business has grown. The shop is a civic leader in the community and a hub of activity all day long during non pandemic times. If you have not had one of their sweet treats take the time to treat yourself- order on line and do curbside pickup....you will not be disappointed!

HUGE shout out to The Able Baker for taking words that I say (almost belligerent btw) from an idea in my mind and making it the most delicious, talked about cake that my kid and all her friends and family ever had.

I really like this place. The staff are super kind and helpful, and their pastries are amazing. They also serve hot coffee which is a big plus. Undeniably the best bakery in the Maplewood Village.

We have had various items here and they are all delicious...even some gluten free options. Street parking. Try this place.

Julie and the team work their butts and hearts out to provide not just tasty baked goods, but an oasis in the community for families, friends, telecommuters and potential new residents. We love our visits here for the cutest themed cookie of the day (and a la colombe iced coffee for mom).

Amaizing the banana bread without gluten

These guys and gals rock. They’re always super friendly. Love the coffee. Love the cakes and the cupcakes. We’ve ordered some of each for parties and special occasions. Have never been disappointed.

Best bakery hands down. I have ordered three major cakes from them so far this year. One for a baby gender reveal, two for birthdays. Occasionally I’ll stop by for brownies and cupcakes. Their pastries are always fresh and well prepared. The cakes are so moist and they lack that supermarket bakery cake taste that I run from. I travel from New York to this bakery and I haven’t tried another since. I am totally satisfied and can’t recommend this place enough.

Best Carrot Cake and sugar cookies in Maplewood and their website is easy to navigate and pickup was a breeze.

Awesome latte with oat milk (they have oat, almond and soy) and delicious baked goods. Got the gluten free chocolate chip pumpkin bread (Im not gluten free, but liked the flavors) and it was amazing. Moist and perfect. Will be coming back here for all of my baked good and local coffee needs.

The best of the best! The banana bread is always moist and very flavorful without being too sweet. The hot chocolate, always made with milk, is rich and deep in flavor. Weve had their cakes and cookies and they, too, are consistently amazing. They have a small bathroom in the back that they were generous enough to let use for my son. We had a chance to briefly meet the baking staff and they were all warm and friendly, just adding to our wonderful experience. I wish they had more indoor seating but the four table that they do have seem to rotate out fairly quickly. As a bonus, they also have great gluten and dairy free options!!

Wish I could rate 0Based on reviews I was really excited to try this place. I was on the hunt for a strawberry rhubarb pie,and this place had it. Pulled up and the place was packed I thought great sign!Couldn’t be more wrong!For a PIE they charged 30$!It was the WORST most disgusting pie I’ve ever tasted! Shop Rite sells these pies for about 3$ and they tasted so much better than this 30$ overpriced garbage, which is where that pie ended up!I figured at least with the price they charge it should be REALLY GOOD. 👎 The pie didn’t taste anything like a strawberry rhubarb pie. There was a slight taste of strawberry and few pieces of rhubarb and the pie tasted zesty like oranges.Also the pie was soggy. The best part was the crust.All in all, the worst pie I’ve ever eaten, not worth the price or my time. They are a bakery, they should have this down!Rubbish! Do yourselves a favor and save your money, I wish I had!

Really, I expected much more from such a large busy shop with friendly staff. I ordered a nice selection of pastries and was really shocked to find absolutely nothing special whatsoever about any of the items in terms of flavors, quality, or ingredients. Coffee—fine. Cupcakes—no special ingredients or flavors; just incredibly basic chocolate with extremely sweet frosting. Same for the brownies—plain and ordinary. The kind of thing unadventurous, sugary stuff youd find at school bake sales.

I love able baker! I love their employees. The coffee is great but the paper cups are not the best. The blueberry coffee cake is scrumptious as well as their banana bread. I would recommend this place to anyone.

It’s was a nice place, especially because there is not many competitors in that category. Pricing though is outrageous! I wanted to buy Hanukkah cookies and they had a box of 9 sugar cookies for $20!!! Are you serious? For simple sugar cookies with icing???I think I’m done with that place...

Local Maplewood bakery with good selection of scones, cookies, and other baked goods. Coffee is good and staff is friendly, only downside is the foul mouthed older men who spend time here on weekends, but no fault of the establishment.

My family loves the Able Baker. Our favorites from here are: lemon pound cake, chocolate chip scone, and the maple latte.

The Spring-themed sugar cookies were tasty, but I found a thin, short hair in one of them, so that was a bit off-putting!

Delicious! A friend served their scones and I tried one, never really liking scones but thats all he was serving. Amazingly flavorful and I immediately asked where he got the scones. He said the Able Baker and I have been to this place many times since then. Scones, cookies, and pies are scrumptious and the coffee is great too. A terrific place!

Definitely grab a banana bread loaf and if it’s available the zucchini bread too! I called for a last minute birthday cake and they were able to accommodate. The service is consistent and always friendly.

This place is magical. The banana bread is gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and yet absolutely delicious. I dont know how they do it! In addition to high quality baked goods, they serve La Colombe coffee.

My favorite local coffee shop. They do your basic espresso drinks without all the crappy caramel flavorings. If you want that then go to Starbucks. I ordered a birthday cake about two months or so ago b/c I was told this bakery had wonderful cakes. I was very specific on my request. Not only was the cake very expensive. It was super dense and tasted horrible. I was not pleased at all.

OMG I literally just left this place and when I say it is EVERYTHING!! It smells amazing, like coffee and heaven mixed with baked goods. The cookies are so soft and the brownies melt in your mouth, but the best thing here in my opinion : THE BANANA BREAD. Its a very popular spot. I havent tried everything so my critique might seem negative. Ill start with the good. The coffee was so fresh and delicious I will dedinitly go back for more. To accompany, I chose the blueberry crumb cake. It was the second time that I was enticed by this attractive treat. I should have known better. It was full of what I guess was butter. Definitely rich. Both times I found the texture mushy, the flavor lacking, with visible yet tasteless, texture-less blueberries. The crumb topping had the right bite but, again no flavor even after I shook cinnamon on it at the coffee bar. Not worth the calories and fat for breakfast. Everything looked good but Im not sure they know what vanilla is. It would have helped.

Highly recommended pastry in town

Downtown coffee shop well loved for both drop in (and stay awhile or get it to go) coffee, tea, and pastries as well as for cakes, cookies, pies ordered for special events. There are always fabulous decorated and usually themed sugar cookies available as well as scones (they can go fast) and cookies including delicious chocolate crinkle gluten free which I recommend highly (and Im not GF). Cakes and pies get rave reviews locally and the place is always hopping. Street parking can be hard but there are a few nearby lots, most free except the train lot right cross from the Able Baker.

One of my favorites in Maplewood, although its always busy its worth the wait! Their scones and the GF banana bread are both a must try! The coffee and tea selection is also top quality!

If you do not want more heaped desserts, with cream and chocolate, take a homemade cake, they are also very delicious here, with a huge amount of filling. And do not forget the vanilla hot sauce)
