First time here and let me just say...everything was great! I got there at 12pm for lunch and was promptly seated then greeted by a very sweet waitress. I got the Whos Your Patty? with fries and a Paloma. Everything was amazing! The burger was juicy, seasoned very well and topped with cheesy goodness, sweet pickles and savory caramelized onions. I was sad when I finished it ALL! I have to go back to try some other things soon!Staff were required to wear masks when I was there.
Some of the tastiest food I’ve had!Huge flakey biscuits, crunchy on the outside! So good I hesitated to dip it in the delicious mushroom gravy.Cuban pork, peppery tender delightful change from boring breakfast meats.Home fries, thinly sliced crunchy morsels.Great meal and attentive service at a humble non assuming spot !
What a gem! We visited for the first time yesterday and it was a great experience. Super cool atmosphere, very friendly staff, the owner was very nice and welcoming. We shared the pork tacos and they were delicious. Very nice beer and drink list with good happy hour specials. They feature Wiseacre on tap. We hear that they have a phenomenal burger so we will definitely be returning to try that. Breakfast items look great as well.
We were in town for one night only and HAD to stop and eat here. Feels like an old school diner, tastes like a modern American eatery. Drinks 10/10, service 10/10, atmosphere 10/10, and food 11/10. Deemed “the best burger I’ve ever had” by my boyfriend, who is a burger connoisseur. So nice he ordered it twice, once to go. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Taylor, Shalla, Rico, and Nick. If you’re in Memphis you have to prioritize stopping here. Can’t wait to come back again.
Hands down to the best breakfast place in Memphis. Me and another travel RN are looking for a place to eat after a long night shift and this place saved the day! You get greeted by very welcoming staff as soon as you walk in. Service is great! Food is amazing! Especially the biscuit beignets! Oh and mimosas! Will definitely go back here over and over again before we leave the town!
Im from New Orleans and this was my first time here, stopped for brunch. There was a Miracle Pop up Bar going on for Christmas. I had a seat at the counter looking out the window and started from the miracle menu with a Snowball Old Fashioned while my brunch partner in crime had a Cosmopolitan. Its my perfect kind of space, small but big enough for whatever I might need. The drinks were perfect. Lunch for me was tacos along with some black beans and rice. Cooked very well and I will admit being somewhat hard to please coming from the New Orleans area...food is life and love on a plate. I left here feeling the love.Highly recommend if you are passing through and if you live in Memphis try this place if your havent done so yet. Its by far worth the visit.
Reservation was at 1145, arrived at 1134 was sent back out to the car-no other patrons left. Another car pulled up with two females (white) and were seated immediately- I (not white) received a call two minutes later our table was ready. Mimosa was warm, service was okay, beignets burnt, coffee bitter, biscuits and gravy were good. The smoke in the air cause my eyes and my guests eyes to burn. Overall its a news join but okay to miss. rating one star because I work very hard for my money and expect to be treated correctly and my guest/I were not.
Always super service and wait-staff and the food and drinks are terrific.Fun atmosphere too!
Best breakfast/brunch in Memphis. Probably the top people of color friendly place for brunch right now (if you live in Memphis then you know that can change fast). You can call it in and pick it up at the outside window or get it on Uber Eats as well. Veggie sausage is on point. Biscuits are big. Fruit is always fresh, not sour and fermented like at Arcade. Definitely a good spot to bring people if they’re visiting from out of town and don’t want the same bacon and eggs breakfast they can get at any diner in Memphis.
Did my first reservation on google 30 mins before and it was ready as schedule. We chose to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather. Social distancing rules were In place but with sitting outside we didn’t get to see our server often. Steak was over seasoned and not plated well (because of eggs). All the food was fresh and still delicious! Even got Mimosas with two mixers! Despite COVID-19 we definitely enjoyed ourselves.
Very nice service from the person who served us our food. The over all experience was disappointing.Ordered the sweet potato hash with medium eggs. I asked for it to be a little crispy. It came out covered in water from the overcooked soft potatoes and wet mushy spinach. Also it was a very small amount of food. The eggs were barely cooked and not warm. They remade it. And the second time everything was even less cooked than the first time.My friend ordered yogurt and it honestly tasted like it had a significant amount of onion powder in it. Which is a bizarre review of yogurt.
It was a great place to eat,the staff was outstanding great customer service and the food was very tasty. That was my first time there and I will eat there again
Great Cuban plate! Good service.
Great food and drinks. I am from Miami. It made me feel like I was back home. With the Cuban food.
Excellent food. This place is off the beaten path and worth finding. Went here after Sun Recording Studio tour. Drinks are a bit spendy but breakfast all day is worth it! Biscuits...delish... pancakes... heavenly. Tired talking my companions into staying and ordering our second choices but they didnt go for it.
I have been wanting for a while. Finally went one night and there were nice drag queens leading a bingo game. It was fun the food was really good. They were out of pancakes and biscuits. This made me sad, but the breakfast sandwich I ordered instead was fantastic. Highly recommend
I Did Eat Anything Me And 2 Other People Went To Chec The Place Out It Was Nice But A Little Small We Are Going Back 😊
This has became one of my favorite brunch places. I love them!
The food was amazing. The pictures dont really do the biscuits and gravy justice. The biscuits are absolutely massive. The biscuits beignets are delicious (ask for extra dulce de leche). Exceptional ambiance and service. If you are a fan of breakfast this is a must try. Made this Florida boys tummy happy.
This place was absolutely fabulous for a seemingly lil hole in the wall. Truly unique and special. I had the Cuban sandwich, which was hot fresh and tasty with a side of plantains. I also devoured some biscuit beignets. Two words sinful bliss, they were cooked on the spot and clearly made with love. I will be back soon!!!..
Wow! This place has amazing food and spectacular SERVICE! It’s so rare to get both on the first try unless you’re spending $75 or more pp. The prices? Can’t beat em! The adult beverages? More than enough bang for your buck! Love this place! The manager Luis was outside checking on us and offering to open the shade umbrella. I had to tell him ten times over that we had such an awesome experience. That team has the best synergy!! The team that brought our food out had energy and personality. Make you feel like your at home. Love it here!! ❤️❤️ First time and can’t wait to go back!
My friend and I arrived here at 3:50, not knowing that for was the start of their lunch break. They were very kind about making its a go order for us though. We ordered the street tacos and the avocado and beet salad plus a few of their house beverages. We assumed that we would be able to eat on their picnic tables that are outside, but after ordering they told us that we wouldnt be able to. I dont think that was necessary, as we werent planning on staying for a very long time, and they could have easily lettuce sit at one of the tables. Otherwise the tacos were amazing, and the salad was really fresh!
The liquor store is a great restaurant to have breakfast or late lunch. I fell in love with the cute theme and colors inside the restaurant. I ordered The Burger— a classic, very well-seasoned burger with fries. In addition I ordered a pancake. They were both very delicious. The service was great and our wait time for food was not long. Be sure to try the Pop Tart. It was a great pastry to start off the meal, just the right amount of sugar. Our wait time was about 30 minutes to seat 4 people around 1pm. Always a good time at The Liquor Store!
One of the best breakfast/brunch Ive had in Memphis. Bacon is to die for. Drinks are really good!
Good breakfast. The meat choices were interesting and I decided to try the Cuban Pork. That was a good choice on my part. The pancakes tastes vaguely of sweet corn (more pleasant than it sounds). Overall a nice surprise and pleasant experience.
Very good food! The pancakes were awesome! I am vegetarian and was able to get veggie sausage. Loved everything! So delicious!
I enjoyed this place, first time there. The bloody Mary was great!! The steak and eggs were on point.. looking forward to coming back
The sweet potato hash is divine. I may never test the rest of the menu because it’s that good.
Great food, great cozy atmosphere, and good food.they were packed wall to wall on a Sunday so they were a bit slow getting food out but besides that,it was a great experience.
Not sure if I was super hungry or the food was super good. Nice friendly service. Food came out at a reasonable time. Burger was cooked perfectly just as I asked (Medium-Well). Didnt try any of the alcoholic drinks but they had plenty to choose from. The place is small so you are sitting very close to strangers. Keep that in mind if you are anti social. Definitely will be back several more times...
Great in house made food. Mustard slaw...the bom!. The Cuban Plate...fire!And the staff...phenomenal, especially Sean & David. Go if you havent been, and bring a friend or 2 if have em.
Busy! But we didn’t have to wait. Our food and service were delicious!
The food was good the service was mediocre. The server, assumed that we were not tippers, so upon giving us our checks she informed us that 20% had already been added because there were five of us. There is no signage stated that before hand. We do not have a problem tipping and have become a custom during this Covid season with 15 to 20% automatically being added to all check and actually tipped above the 20%. However, there is no signage and I am almost sure that we were pre-judged. The waitress seemed very uncomfortable and nervous when giving us the check and telling us that 20% had been added.
There’s literally no point in the take out window. There’s no bell to let them know you’re standing there so on a July day you’re just standing in the heat. The food is very good, the customer service is subpar. Do yourself a favor and just walk in the door to get a takeout order.
This place is adorable! The owner is seating guests and busing tables! The service has been great and food fantastic! I ordered the biscuits and shiitake mushroom gravy. It comes with a side of two eggs and breakfast meat. I went with over easy eggs and sausage. The eggs are perfectly cooked, sausage beautifully spiced. And the GRAVY!! So delicious! They french press their decaf coffee. I can see why Food and Wine recommend this place as a must try! I would highly recommend!!
Great Service Tasha was outstanding! The food was exceptional. Flavorful, excellent presentation, cuban sausage & chicken impeccable! Best Bloody Marys!
Great local restaurant. Found this place on uber and had to check it out. Food was excellent, our service was on point. Wont be disappointed.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, I SAY DO NOT. I believe our waiter was drunk and spilt water all over the table and spilt syrup on my friend. The food was horrible and cold. I am very DISPLEASED with the service and the product brought to me through this experience.
The Liquor Store is a great breakfast and lunch cafe. It has an extra long bar that we, unfortunately, did not avail ourselves of. It was a cozy atmosphere and a great experience.Reagan was a phenomenal server. She was uber-pleasant, funny, and took great care of us.I ordered a breakfast platter and my wife had a breakfast sandwich. Both dishes were excellent and we couldnt have been more pleased.
We walked in and politely asked about availability for a party of 7 . He promptly said we cant seat partys over six . At that moment two of our party decided not to come so we said we only have five . It wasnt that there werent seats available it was that the bartender and manager was so rude !! Not the way we wanted to start our vacation
I have recommended this place several times to friends visiting my hometown of Memphis. I finally made it down here on Mother’s Day and what a disaster. I walked in to make a reservation for a party of four. My cousin did the same for her and her mother. The manager at the front door said because we knew each other we could not split our parties and be seated. That is an absurd policy. He even admitted that if we were strangers he would take both reservations at the same time. Memphis deserves much better.
Wonderful, and unassuming, trendy diner with a great lineup of dishes that bring a little something for everyone. The Cuban sandwich with its 14 hour roasted pork shoulder was a wonderful twist of flavors; suddle hints sweets, rich smokey flavors, tangy and ever so savory, and thats just the sandwich, did I mention the plantain wedges fried to sweet perfection? This is a must go/must repeatly go place, with great staff that are just as into the food as the customers coming in the door!
Food was so good and the portion sizes are HUGE! Service was great too!
I really wanted The Liquor Store to be a great first date, but it felt like an awkward first date with some high and lows. There was a lot going on when we arrived for an early dinner before a show. The highlight of the experience was our server Jess. She had the entire dinning room and did everything right.I was really looking forward to trying the the Staff Favorite Cuban Sandwich. However, at 6 pm they hadn’t prep and didn’t have a single one available. I can understand being out of your best item in the middle of a busy service, but that wasn’t the case when we were there. If it wasn’t for Jess I would of walked up the street and find another place.Four of us had to scramble and find something else. We had a few burgers, sweet potato hash, Cuban plate with pork and breakfast. The food was good, but nothing stood out as a must have. The best item was the loaded fries and the pepper gravy. It is a cool spot and would be willing to go on a 2nd date, but if they are out of there signature item it will be difficult to tough it out this time.
Our server was Jessica V and she provided excellent service. Anywhere you go with a 1 year old can be tough and they made sure we were taken care of. Will be back.
Delicious food, friendly staff and great cocktails to go with the great breakfast. Highly recommend this place.
A new go to! The service was perfect and so attentive! The burger was very good and cant wait to go back for the Cuban Pork Street Tacos! So good I forgot to take photos!
Food is delicious!!! I have been going to them for the past month and the food never fails. Customer service is great, food is great and love their Classic breakfast plate. Support small businesses here in Memphis, TN.
The atmosphere is always fun and the food is always delicious.
I am so disappointed in this service. I placed an order for pickup LAST NIGHT for 9:45 this morning. Our friends placed an order around 9:40 this morning for pickup. When we got there their order was ready but ours wasnt. In fact, it wasnt ready until 10:10. This is, or shouldnt be, acceptable!! Honestly,Im not shocked at this kind of service as Ive eaten at the Liquor Store a handful of times and the service is always terrible but at the very least the person waiting for almost 30 minutes should have been offered a free drink. All they did was say, well sorry. Avoid this place!!
The Liquor Store is an excellent quaint little hideway. The Staff was very friendly, food was over the top wonderful and the drinks were marvelous. For breakfast All day this is the place to go. Hats off to the Staff at The Liquor Store Taylor, Ashley, Jessica, Mike and Mark. ❤SignedJ & K
Ive been to The Liquor Store a few times and each time I come away knowing I liked it, but didnt love it. The food is good, but not always consistent. I love the decor and the vibe when its packed. Pic is of a Bloody Mary I had with brunch recently... drink was great! I had a Biscuit Sandwich Meal... the biscuit was huge, though a bit dry. It was stacked with bacon, melted cheese and a fried egg. The Hash Browns were the star though, packed with flavor. My wife had the Sweet Potato Hash with shredded chicken. The chicken fantastic, but the sweet potatos were large chunks that was more boiled than sautéed and the Sofrito was missing. I had this dish before and it was definitely more hash style than what she got. When we asked about it, the waitress just shrugged and made a comment about it being sautéed.
Service, food, just great. Thanks!
Weve been here a few times and the food is always good. Was not super impressed today. Or ordered the cuban, which on the menu lists with plantain wedges but it came with fries. They said the menu was wrong and then charged me for extra plantain wedges when I asked for them. Hopefully theyll fix their menu soon. Again the food was great, just need a little work on the menu.
Unique venue and great food and drink
Nice ambiance. Good food.
Well I enjoyed the atmosphere & food and deink, however my husband felt it was more of a location for women.
Long wait for a seat but food and mimosas were delicious!!
Visited here two years ago and still talk about how amazing the food and atmosphere was. The Liquor Stores aesthetic reflects its tounge-in-cheek name, very kitsch but homey. When we arrived for breakfast (pre-covid) every table was occupied, however it did not feel packed at all.
Great place, great food, great atmosphere. Drinks were great and service was great. A must to go to.
Arrived with party, and was told that we hadn’t madeReservations-which my sister assured me that she had, was told by the hostess that she could seat usFor 30 min-which was not going to work..It put a sourTaste in my mouth. I and family had traveled over 50miles to enjoy this together time. After, speaking to her manager, he saved the day offering us seats on the patio, which he set upHimself and offered us free mimosas. The food was worth the initial disappointment..It was a great day to set on patio .and kudos to themanager and staff...
My siblings, mom and I decided to come here to this restaurant today. My cousin and her mom/ sister came as a seperate party. When we approached the host as seperate parties, he told us that HIS policy prohibits us to sit as seperate parties because we knew each other. Since it was HIS policy, it is safe to assume he was the owner.. We asked if he would have sat us seperately if we didnt know each other. He replied yes. I asked him to explain the reasoning behind this policy. He could not. He simply replied Thats just my policy. I will make sure everyone I know is aware of this policy so they will not patronize this place ever. My thousands of Facebook / Instagram followers will be aware as well.
Very nice. Food was great. 1st visit.
Great vegetarian and vegan options, and the food is always good!
I have been to this eatery about 4 times so far. My first experience was fantastic, I came alone and sat at the bar, my food came out so delicious, the serving sizes were perfect and the quality was good. When I came back a day later with my husband, we sat at a table and the service was not so good. We requested Ketchup and never ever received it, however the 2 tables on either side of us requested the exact condiment and got them right away it. The 3rd visit we sat at the bar and got good service. 4th visit I ordered the Steak and eggs which also included hash browns and toast. The only thing came out as I ordered it was the steak. The eggs and hash browns both had cheese, and I received wheat toast instead of white as I ordered. I brought it to the waitress’s attention, she showed no empathy I didn’t want to return it to wait longer because my husband already had his food, I just wanted to ensure that I wouldn’t be charged extra she said no and she would make sure of it, but what do you know..... she added it to our ticket anyways. It was a very disappointing visit to say the least. By the way the same waitress who didn’t bring the ketchup. I will not be enthusiastic about revisiting the Steak was fantastic though.
The food and drinks were great, and David was an awesome bartender!
Cute little hole in the wall place with tasty breakfast items and yummy shots :)
Really good food and really good service. Server was really attentive to us. Presentation of the food was good too. Prices seemed very reasonable! I will definitely come back!
Very disappointed with my visit. I think they are struggling to get everything going. The service was awful, long waits of just sitting at the table while staff just stood by the front door talking to each other. They have a “Guest Wifi network” that isn’t for guests. The food was okay. Wouldn’t return.
Great staff and food was yummy!
The pancakes are horrifying 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 the service was good. The coffee was bitter even with 6 packs of sugar. The syrup is diabetes in a portion cup. Bill was paid, Ill never go back!
When walking up the aroma was in the air, smelled good and tasted great!
