This was my first time dining here, and I enjoyed it. My mom and I came around 3pm. It was raining, we were hungry, and we wanted something quick to eat. We also wanted to dine in, since we had been shopping. Let me tell you, the service was fast. We placed our orders one minute, and it seemed our food was ready 7-10 minutes later. On top of that, our food was fresh, hot and delicious. The staff was friendly, and they checked on you often. I will be returning.

One of my favorite restaurants to visit when driving through Memphis. I am never disappointed regardless of the location. The catfish bites are a staple and ALWAYS take home a banana cake 😋😋😋

Today was an off day. We usually get the best food and service at Soul Fish. But not today. I think I spoke to soon cause just three days prior, I had said we always win with Soul Fish. Today, there was old fish, cold fish, cold fries, cold old okra, and what tastes like old grease. Maybe we need to take a break. Too many visits within a week.

This was my 1st visit to Soul Fish Cafe -Service was pleasant.Price was Fair (considering the product/quality).Atmosphere was open & bright.Our Meals & Dessert were well prepared & taste Absolutely Delicious.Our server - Emma W - was very polite & positive in offering recommendations as well as timely & adequate beverage Refills.I have known of this restaurant for a long time now & decided to dine here for dinner.I ordered the Trout-Blackened w/side of Okra.Both were excellent and paired well with the in-house condiment provided.My friend ordered the Caesar salad topped w/Salmon& We shared a unique Banana Cake for dessert, provided by a local bakery.All in all - I enjoyed my first experience here and Will be back!To the Owners/Operating managers - Great job. 👍Five stars -⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

All of the reviews are spot on. The food is delicious. The blackened trout was delicious and so was the catfish. They gave a baked sweet potato that was great. The fish was a little salty and the hush puppies were very greasy. Also the black eyed peas, greens, cabbage and green beans were all cooked with meat. It would have been nice to have at least one of those without meat. Service was very friendly. Prices were reasonable.

Great place to eat. Need friendlier waitress staff. That kind of spoils the eating experience for me.

This was our 1st time there. We really enjoyed it. We were in town visiting family and they took us there. Although they had no whole fish ( which sadden me) we still enjoyed ourselves. Food was fresh and there Carmel cake is great also.

Would like to get this place a five all day great customer service the young woman name is Rosa H. pleasant to have felt I was appreciated and drinks on time without asking etc. Now the food, mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy as should be not your mommy mac and cheese goodness but very quality one indeed . The cornbread needed some work but overall decent bite; blackened fish was amazing season right oh so good made me stop and think so heavenly. One thing that happen tho I didnt like really was that the hushpuppy had paper in it, but they got on it asap and gave us a free side overall good food and good services; will be coming back again 👍

When you see the building, you think NY sheik, very modern. Then you start to read the menu. Its Louisiana comfort food. Amazing taste. Several locations, only in Memphis though.

On 9/30 I ordered a slice of each: caramel pecan pie, coconut cake, and strawberry cake. All were old and not anywhere close to being fresh. I know these cakes are made by Frost Bakery and are kept refrigerated. The taste was old, the coconut smelled sour, and the strawberry was stale. This never happens at the poplar avenue location. Never! This location is closer and convenient but I will drive to poplar for fresh hot food and fresh desserts.

Decided to try a new restaurant today. The fish was delicious and it was great having other options other than fries and slaw. The grilled zucchini was fresh and grilled perfectly. The sweet was good as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Chef salad with chicken was good except one piece of chicken had a bone and cut my lip

Hot wings are next level good. Somehow tender, Juicy while crispy; both tangy and just a touch of heat. Served on soggy fries but I’m only after the wings. Blackened trout and Cajun cabbage really good too. Service was lovely. Patio was perfect. Great experience

The Fried catfish and Red Trout were highly recommended. I order the Blackenes Red Trout, green beans, macaroni and cheese and Lemonade. Truly enjoyed the cleanliness and open floor layout

The food was very good and worth the price. There was no long wait time and this was during a holiday. I will definitely visit Soul Fish again.

Some of the best fish I have eaten. Had a party of 10 and the service was still super fast. Would recommend the cat fish or the salmon. Cooked perfectly and great seasoning.

I have to say I was well pleased with everything. Fish was good, cooked the way I like it without me giving instructions. I will try the sweet potatoe next time .

I had a very pleasant experience. This was my first time at this restaurant and I was not disappointed. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was all cooked perfectly, in very generous portion sizes. I especially recommend the zucchini side dish, and the fried pickles appetizer.

For better or worse your experience may differ: friendly staff. Restaurant is pretty cold. Water had a taste I found to be strange. Food was excellent. Seafood was seasoned well. I would definitely return and would sit outside if weather permits.

I had a call in order. I was told to pick it up in 15 minutes. I arrived in 10 minutes. The food was ready but tasted awful. It tasted like it had been sitting there all day. It was cold, greasy and soggy. Ive eaten at Soul Fish on S. Cooper and on Poplar Ave. The food was always hot, fresh, and good. The food here is the opposite. I am terribly disappointed . Never will I throw my money away at this place again.

The food is so SO good. And they are just such cool servers.You can’t go wrong with catfish. Any time. Any kind. They have THE ABSOLUTE BEST seasoned cornmeal. Their hush puppies aren’t the best… very dense… but wow the rest is phenomenal. Sweet potato fries. Broccoli. Mac-n-cheese. Omg. Try it all. You won’t be disappointed.And we had the very nicest, coolest server. She did a fantastic job, was knowledgeable about the food and gave us very good service. Just know, you will have a fantastic meal.

My grandson buys take-out frequently from here due to the Pandemic. Ive only been here a couple of times and ordered out. The food, though expensive, is well worth it. Ive had the BEST CABBAGE in my entire life, from this place! I tried duplicating it ( Im an Army-trained cook) but wasnt able to. If it wasnt so far from Frayser,Id eat here on a regular basis.

In our opinion, very adequate. Gnats flying around in booths against wall were annoying. To us, food was overcooked and dry. If we had been informed of specials, our order would have been much different.

Havent ever eaten here and had something I didnt like. Fish is well-seasoned and service is fast. They also have multiple good options for folks who arent into seafood. Lots of good sides to choose from as well!Restaurant was clean and I saw the staff santitize tables, chairs, salt, pepper, hot sauce, etc. multiple times while we were there.

First visit to this location near Wolfchase and the blackened catfish was superb. I really like the cajun cabbage as a side dish. Was disappointed in the fried green tomatoes as definitely undercooked. I was with a large group and the pecan pie was being passed around and shared. I didnt sample it but several in the group said it was delicious.

First time at this location. Pretty impressed with the quality & consistency of the food. Its not gourmet but as far as fried catfish and po boy sandwiches, it doesnt get any better in Memphis.Another thing, Ive never gotten sour tea (in restaurants if the iced tea sits out in the tea urn too long it turns sour - especially if the tea urns arent cleaned properly - Soul Fish, as far as I can tell has quality control locked down.)Sometimes, at other SF locations, (especially the Midtown location) it is obvious the steam table water leaks into the pans the side dishes are heated in. Its ruined the mac & cheese for me & my family more than once. When the mac & cheese is good, its great!But if the water gets into the pan the side dish is warmed in, the it tastes rancid.That said, this didnt happen at this location on this visit so all good 👍

My first time coming here they had just opened. The staff was nice and friendly but my food was greasy and overpriced in my opinion. Decided to give them another try a couple of months later and food was the same. Just too greasy for me. There was a lot of grease on the bottom of my plate. I wont be coming to this location again.

For their name to be “Soul Fish Cafe” there is definitely no real “soul” in their fish, not enough seasoning for sure!!!!! I was very disappointed. However, we were seated timely, staff attentive and freshness of food was good.
