This is a great place if you need your repair asap without looking at your wallet. My bill (about 20% of the car value) was revised higher at the time of payment compared to what was quoted when the repair was approved after diagnostics. Craig was too busy to look at me when I dropped the car or when I went to pick up the car and pay. I felt his comment was very insensitive when I questioned why the bill was higher. Also, talks so fast that it is hard to understand unless you are a car mechanic yourself. Craig is certainly very knowledgeable and may be thats why he is successful without being customer friendly (my opinion). Anyway, I wont visit the place again for sure.

Brought my car in 2 weeks ago because my Service Engine Soon light came on. I was told that the transmission needs replacement parts Took about 3 days to FIX ran me $1900. Ok no problem, car is still running fine like it was before I brought it in. A week and a half later while I was driving couldnt accelerate past 20mph. Called Aamco and they said to bring it back in. Now they were saying I needed a valve body and exhaust replacement. I said shouldnt this have been caught/diagnosed the first time I brought it in. They stated that they wouldnt have known. Ok they quoted me another $1100 to fix. They tell me my car is FIXED and ready for pickup. Craig also mentioned that its going to run a little funny for the first 100 MPH. Why would it do that if you say its FIXED???? Drove it home from work yesterday and the transmission just conked out and couldnt go past 20mph. I had to pullover and have it towed back to my home. I ended up purchasing a new car last night. Extremely dissatisfied with the service I received here. I was told my car was FIXED when clearly it wasnt and they kept charging me. Service is horrible. They rather keep quoting and taking folks money rather than fixing the issue the first time.

Have used Craig and his team for years on all our vehicles they g beyond their job to make sure everything is perfect. Made an appointment. Showed up on time. The service was rude and unprofessional. Couldn’t get an answer on the work, timing, anything. The woman working there was king but when the man took over the conversation I was at a loss for words. We just canceled the appointment and are going to Goodyear for a simple tune up we didn’t need finished for 5 days.

Customer service was amazing and they showed me a splatter of what they thought was anti freeze but it was oil i spilled by mistake! So they’re very transparent about their job and i appreciate that very much! They didn’t touch my car until they showed me what they thought was an issue after i cleared that up they changed my oil and filter and my car is running smooth! I’ll be back for more maintenance in the near future for sure. Very happy with my service.

My Jeep was leaking transmission fluid. I thought that that would be the end of my jeep. I took my jeep to an auto shop to see if they would be able to do anything about it, I was told I needed to take it to the dealers for repairs. I knew that if I took it to the dealers it would cost an arm & a leg which I couldnt afford. I decided to take it to AAMCO since they specialize in transmissions. I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID. They explained in detail what was wrong with the jeep. it was very affordable and everyone was very kind! AAMCO is now the place I will be bringing all my vehicles for repairs. I appreciate all the help from everybody! Front Desk receptionist was also very nice, she answered all the questions I had.

First off weve used their service several times in the past and have been very pleased with the results.I needed my oil changed in my car and was in the areas I stopped by to see if they could squeeze me. In the past I have asked them if I needed an appointment and they said no. When I arrived, one of the mechanics(probably the owner) was standing at the desk looking very irritated, I said hello and he grumbled and asked the receptionist to handle my request. When I asked if I could get my oil changed, they both got very short with me and told me they couldnt take the car today. He also said he was down a mechanic(not my problem). I totally understand that youre busy but to be downright nasty to a repeat customer is not acceptable. I took my business elsewhere.

Due to changes from the pandemic, I no longer have a regular mechanic near me that I use. I called up AAMCO and Craig was so friendly and helpful. My car has air conditioning problem, I made an appointment on Wednesday night, sent the car to AAMCO on Thursday morning, got the car back on Friday afternoon. After going to three different mechanics, telling me that there was an issue with my transmission and never getting back to me with a price quote, I decided to try out Aamco. Let me tell you, they are amazing at what they do. Theyre honest, caring and the customer service is amazing. Turned out it wasnt even an issue with my transmission and it was some switch issue. About a week later, I felt some heat by my gear shift and called them up and they told me to come by and they will check it out. They fix it within a a day and told me it was my flex exhaust pipe. The pricing was so reasonable. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. I dont write reviews at all and this is my first one Im writing. Highly recommend them and Im definitely going to refer them to friends and family!

I recently had problems with my car. I thought my transmission was going, and I brought it here expecting a huge bill and a long repair time. Made an appointment online and they called and made me reschedule. The day I rescheduled for, the transmission guy was out. No one called me and let me know for 4.5 hours when he tried to tell me he was got sick, and by then I had called and found out he had an appointment and wasn’t ever in to begin with. So unprofessional and ridiculous.

I have 4 cars and I have been bringing them to Craig for several years now. I was first referred to Craig by a friend when I had a transmission issue with my Toyota Sequoia (215,000 miles). The dealership swore to me it could only be fixed by replacing the whole transmission for $7,000. And they said I should replace one of the catalytic converters to boot ($2,500 more). I took the car to Craig for a second opinion and his team diagnosed the problem, which was complicated, but, a relatively minor fix compared with replacing the whole transmission. $800 and 5 years later I am still driving my Sequoia with the original transmission and the catalytic converter I was told to replace (270,000 miles strong). Car dealerships are ripping you off, while a guy like Craig is honest and dependable with great prices for all the repairs. Hes a working family guy like us and stands by his business and reputation. I would never go anywhere else (even for a oil change and its a 45 minute drive for me- Ive heard fast lube places give you regular oil when your car needs synthetic. Craig even gave me the half a can of leftover BMW synthetic he used on my car because it takes 6.5 liters, not 6. It was the real stuff he special ordered and said for me to take it and use it if I ever need to top the car off. Would any fast lube place do that? even if they did give you the right oil? I dont think so.) The 3 things in life everyone needs, a good doctor, a good lawyer and a good mechanic. One out of three is good enough for me right now! Craig is the man!!

Brought in my dads old 1995 Impala SS last summer for a strange noise, Craig was beyond helpful. John went over the whole car and found the tires were causing the noise. No charge. You wont find a more honest, professional, trustworthy shop!

Came in for a Transmission replacement on an ‘09 Jaguar XF and the fix came out perfect! The gears switch as they should. No issues and also a good 12 month warranty included. Definitely recommend!

I went in this morning (they managed to squeeze me in first thing) to get my transmission checked because my dealer said there was something wrong with it and my regular mechanic thought there might be something wrong but that I should go to someone more specialized in transmission work. After inspection, their transmission guy said, very sincerely, “I don’t know what they said was wrong but your transmission is running perfectly. Have a great day.” I appreciated the time he took and his honesty. He could have easily made up some work and gotten a good chunk of money out of me since this would have been the third place to tell me something was off. Instead, I received fair treatment, saved myself an unnecessary expense and became a lifelong customer.

Family run business owner Craig was so wonderful with the best customer service and doing his personal best to make my experience a comfortable one. The location who sent parts sent the wrong part 2 x, Craig drove me to a near by diner so I could get a bite to eat and picked me up when my car was done! He advices me about my tires being worn ( which I knew and was procrastinating I’m having to spend that money as well) but he helped me get the BEST tire deal while they worked on fixing my breaks. He even had my head light fixed without it being on the original work order and even though he was super busy that day He personally had me follow him to the tire location and went inside to make sure I was in good hands! AND got me an AMAZING DEAL!! I drove my car out of there feeling SUPER SAFE and well cared for. I am a life long customer!! Just good old fashion customer service. My Toyota Camry hybrid big battery went bad and they were able to look at it right away. Craig was very professoinal and helpful and gave me 3 battery options to choose from. He ordered the battery and was able to get it and installed the next day. There were financing availble so it helps alot. Highly recommend using them and I would definitely use them again in future.

I had a water pump they had replaced, something went wrong and they determined the part they installed was defective. They didnt charge me for the 3-6 hours of labor they did. They could have easily lied and said something else leaving me on the hook for labor. People with integrity, a rare thing this day. I highly recommend this family business.March 17, 2021-I went again to get and have a new cooling pump for my hybrid put on and the price was a lot less than I expected. They were able to find and fix the problem I was having my air conditioning and had my car back to me the next day. The auto shop I took it to before AAMCO was unable to figure out the issue and had my car for several days. The difference is clear as day as I see it. They won me over me as a new regular customer. My 2007 Chevy Silverado would start, then not start, then start again, randomly. The starter motor was fine, and the battery had just been replaced. I took it to a local tire shop which advised it needed a new fuel pump, so $1000 later, I had the truck home and it was still starting only randomly. I then took it to Aamco on Amboy, who took more care in diagnosing the issue, and advised that the problem was electrical, which made a lot of sense. They got the parts and had it fixed back up in less time than the first place, and at a price that mechanic friends of mine confirmed was fair market value. Theres no need for me to ever go to any other car care place for any reason, these guys are the best: professional, courteous, friendly, and patiently explain what theyre doing. Five stars - I wish I could give them ten stars.

AAMCO helped me with my car during Covid-19. It was an extremely stressful time as a healthcare worker having to drive to various clients homes each day. When the car suddenly started making noises and needing repairs, Craig and his team helped me promptly and professionally, and took Covid precautions (steering wheel and seat covers, etc.) The guys have always done a great job identifying and fixing my car, and I was especially glad they were there during this crisis.

The best car service we have ever received. I dont say that lightly as in the past year I have refreshed my 2007 FJ Cruiser (clutch, new tires, alternator, battery, cracked axel, oil changes & normal maintenance). All done at various good shops until I found AAMCO Metuchen. We needed a new transfer case as I was unable to shift into 4W Drive High and Low. AAMCO Metuchen was recommended by another repair shop. AAMCO was efficient, professional and at a more than reasonable cost point. No other shop was able to do the work so I was expecting a very high bill; which wasnt the case. Yes, AAMCO is a big name; but, the business is run as a small business who care about their customers. The absolutely best part of the work was the customer service from the owner Craig & his staff. Not only did they contact me every step of the process as the did the work; but, I received a thank you card in the mail from Craig afterwards. Its nice to know that someone sincerely appreciated my business. They also test drove the vehicle before they returned it to me and had me come in for a 200 mile check after the work was completed (at no additional cost). I wish I had known that they do work other than transmissions as I would have done all the refreshing of my vehicle with them. Ever since I took my car here it is running like a dream. Most honest, capable and fairly-priced mechanic I have ever met. The best in NJ as far as I am concerned. The only thing I wish is that I had started coming here sooner! I would have saved so much money, as my car would have been fixed reliably. Now I am introducing my whole family to him.Craig will also fight for you and do his best to make sure you dont get taken for a ride if a repair needs to be done at the dealer, like an extended warranty on a defective part. On such an occasion (a second repair that my car needed), after leaving his shop upon having completed the first repair, he printed the dealer his diagnosis and even talked to them on the phone personally, and everything went smoothly.Best experience at any mechanic ever.

Attention Staten IslandMy transmission went on my 2010 Chevy suburban. I wanted a mechanic that was reliable, trustworthy, and who really understood transmissions. I live in Staten Island and found a real gem right over the Outerbridge crossing. I was initially impressed with all their 5 star reviews and now I know why.The service was excellent and Craig was very pleasant to work with. I was impressed with the reviews and being so brought my vehicle in for service. Driving from Jackson to Metuchen, I was not let down by the Owner Craig or his very knowledgeable and professional staff . John was very knowledgeable about the issues I was experiencing with my vehicle and so recommended the appropriate course of action. I was very happy with the performance and the internal shifting of the transmission upon picking up the vehicle. And to top it off.. They did the work for the price as quoted . Very refreshing to find an establishment these days that have the honesty and professionalism of businesses from years ago...

Worst experience of them all. Dropped of car for an oil change and handed over the keys. Get a call 6-7 hrs later saying hood of the car won’t open, go in to find out the hood levers wire is coming out from the lever. Their claim? “It was dropped off this way, we didn’t touch it”. Shmucks...

A great place! I took my car here for a timing belt service about a month ago, and now I am happy to report my car is running great! I know, and Ive been to, A LOT of shops, but these people are truly special. Their customer service is superb, always very courteous and honest, genuinely looking out for their customers best interests, and their knowledge on car issues and its repairs is on point! Add really fair prices for their service as the icing on the cake and you have here really the complete package. I went in only to ask their price for a timing belt kit service and ended up fixing the compressor, radiator, and serpentine belt too. Like I said, its been a month, and my engine and AC/heat work great today.I highly recommend this shop, and ask for Craig!

He threw in fluids, flushes, coupons without me even asking to keep my car on the road within a couple hours.What I got was a great deal, dedicated professionalism, thorough work, fantastic customer service. This is my go to place from now on.

Craig is the man! Trustworthy and is out to help the customer. He went through a lot and made no money helping me with my ex shady extd warranty company. I live in North Jersey and ride down there to get work done on my Tahoe. Staff is supportive and young lady up front us the bomb. She offered to drive me to work without hesitation or me even thinking about that. If you have transmission trouble, then you really need to go there, but they do it all. Coming here is a no brainer!
