Worst mistake ever was going to Ford News! I even felt like Google reviews are never to be trusted! We did go in the peak hours on a Sunday, but they got our order wrong with burnt chocolate chip pancakes and potatoes! They even brought someone else’s order on to our table and took it away when they realized it wasn’t ours! Not even a refill of coffee was offered! Such a disappointment, when looking at Google reviews!!!
Cool little diner. Staff was very friendly and the food came out super fast. It was fresh and hot and cooked right in front of my face. It felt like eating a home cooked breakfast and the prices are beyond fair. This place was great. Make sure you try the home fries they are great, cooked with peppers and onions. There was even an old man in there sleeping at his table with a news paper which gave it the home town diner feel that I love so much ! Great little spot loved everything about it !!
I ordered takeout for my family for a Good Friday brunch. We all had pancakes. Eggs. Toast. Fried potatoes. The pancakes were burned black on the bottom of each one. The potatoes were BLACK AND CONGEALED. Forget the scrambled eggs. The only thing not ruined was the toast. NOTE: This is the second time this once iconic restaurant has served me and my family ‘burned’ takeout. And I really love this cute little place! It breaks my heart to have to give Ford News Diner such a poor review. I can only hope the past 2 times were due to some unseen circumstance. Cause honestly, I have had some great food from Ford News Diner in the past. I have eaten some really good breakfast and lunches from there. Everything from omelettes to scrambled eggs with sausage or kielbasa to a simple BLT or grilled cheese with their tasty homemade potato salad on the side. They have a really varied menu that will have something to satisfy everyone. This pandemic has affected the quality of meals, at times, from some restaurants that normally have a solid reputation. Hopefully, my two poor experiences were just a ‘blip’ on the radar for Ford News Diner.
Friendly crew, speedy service, great taste, its like home-cooked, foods are cooked right in front of you, great price, the place where the locals love.... The best breakfast in CT.

Great food and service at a cheap price! Never disappoints the only reason I gave a 4 not a 5 is because the seating is ridiculously limited. Seats at the diner top bar and a couple tables but it feels like a cramped hallway. On the good side of that you can actually see how quick and cleanly your food is being made. No frills just good food. Definitely not handicap friendly though especially not for wheelchairs.
Absolutely LOVE eating here. Seriously one of my favorite places EVER. The staff is super friendly and food is always fresh. Ive been coming for years and I just cant stay away. Highly recommend eating here.
The cut of steak served as steak and eggs was unidentifiable. So tough that I couldnt cut or chew it, even though it was medium rare..
Fantastic local greasy spoon loved by the locals. Food is cheap, plentiful, and surprisingly good - in a comfort food, old school diner kind of way. The people behind the counter are warm and friendly. Note: this space is a tight fit. I would not recommend it for parties above 3 or 4. Also, if you have a young child that you like to let walk or crawl around, be okay with floors that have forgotten the feel of a mop.
The food and service are great. Its an amazing, small dinner with a relatively simple menu. They treat you like family here. I moved back into the area and the owner still remembered me after 3 years away. It is tiny and can be a bit of a squeeze, totally worth it though.
Great home cooked breakfast. Comfortable and warm inside on a chilly day. They offer a good variety of choices. Order from the one of the boards posted up behind the counter. Great coffee too.

My choice place close to my house for a delicious breakfast or lunch. Nothing fancy, just pure deliciousness. The staff is extremely friendly and the wait time for your food is almost nonexistent.

Timeless. Was a regular there in the early 80s when I was a kid working on Main St. Seemed to have been there forever back then. Drop in now when passing through. Truly expert diner operators serving just what youd expect in such a local institution. Loaded with local regulars.

This is literally my favorite breakfast place to go when I am in Middletown! Their food is delicious, the wait time is never long, they accept cards now, the employees are ALWAYS friendly and courteous! The only thing that is frustrating is the limited amount of room to move around. But dont let that be the reason you dont go, you will fall in love with this place.
