This store is great! Whether youre a local or a tourist, if you like sciencey things, curiosities, gadgets, do-dads, gizmos, both practical and impractical, this is the place to visit! I love the all the handmade product/price cards for the items; fun & funny!

One of a kind store. You will not find another store like it around metro Milwaukee. Has everything you need for science projects, random science hobby supplies, maps, telescopes, books, tons of stuff.

So its great to hang out on AS&Ss website and even better to pore over their print catalog, but nothing can top an in-person trek to their Milwaukee location. (Sure, the Chicago store may have come first, but as a kid growing up on the stretch of pavement that connects the two cities I can tell you: if something exists in both Chicago and Milwaukee, its ten times weirder in Wisconsin.) As all dedicated surpies know, if AS&S doesnt have it on their shelves -- _do you really need it?_ Idve posted more pictures, but these are the only ones I took that didnt have starry-eyed family members slobbering all over the merchandise....

I work in science and Im a nerd, but anyone would love going into Science and Surplus. There is something for everyone. Many one of a kind items. They have lots of science kits for kids and teens, prisms, scopes, gyroscopes, bulbs, gag gifts, wires, cords, electronic stuff, parts.

Love this store. Employees are always friendly. And you can find almost anything

This place is AMAZING, it has everything that you must have but you dont need! You can spend easily 2 hours looking st their stuff and finding things for gifts or your kids or just for yourself. Their prices are low but they have the most random stuff.

So I am from out of state and decided to check out the store. It is a very cool store to stop and check out. I spent to much money but they have almost everything. I highly recommend stopping here if in town!

This is a very interesting store. It has a little of everything. Sort of going back in time.I bought a set of led under counter lights. They also had a marked down set. The set had all batteries missing, one light missing and the remote missing. I tried to get a deal on it because money will be put in it just in batteries alone. Even though they will turn on manually, the remote is a great thing to have because of the many different colors available with remote and the timer fearure. Since I was buying an unopened package, I wanted to add this with it. I talked to an associate who really didnt want to help in the matter. Basically, it is what it is. I would think that making a sale would be something a retailer wants.

If you something out of the ordinary you got to go here. Gifts and things beyond the norm, and a lot of science stuff too. Been going there for 25+ years glad to see its still in business. Its hard to walk out with nothing, you will find something be it educational or just down right wierd. Lots of cool stuff.

Awesome place to visit, great friendly staff and saved 15 to 20 bucks on the toolbox I bought there instead getting it online. They have a crazy variety of stuff inside to buy. A good portion is science or loosely related to science, other stuff is discounted items like knives, steampunk stuff, halloween stuff, wood puzzles, etc. Well worth the stop and visit if your anywhere near there!

I am from out of state but heard about this store on many websites. I was lucky enough to go when there was a tent sale. So many odd, but awesome things to buy. Parking is easy, prices are super affordable, staff was helpful. In the back is a section with gobs of random machine and parts. Great place to go for things youd never expect to want!

Always find something unexpected and awesome, this has been one of my favorite stores since I was a kid. The prices are great too. I got an item that normally sells for $35-50 online for $20 on my last visit. Also a great place to shop for unique gifts! Staff is great and keep the atmosphere fun.

Today wasnt good the manager was rude. Most of staff working there is nice though.

A very unique store with tons of fun items. If you are into crafting a do it yourself DIY projects this is the place for you. I went in not knowing what I wanted but left with a prism and a couple filters. If your in Milwaukee its worth a trip. I almost bought a microscope but reminded myself I didnt need it.

So many treasures throughout the store! Inventory changes often so its worth while to stop in every other month or so. Staff is friendly & easy to talk with. Prolly find yourself spending an hour or more just browsing..

First store Ive been in where the staff actually enforced proper mask wearing. It was a wonderful thing to see. To the covidiot who gave a 1 star - its SCIENCE and surplus. Of course theyre gonna follow the SCIENCE guidelines.As always, all the fun & wacky sciencey stuff you could need.

This place has everything you didnt know you needed until you see it on their shelves. The store is my go to source for the odd pieces I need to work through a block on a project. Scientific, educational, electronic, and mechanical supplies - plus the most intriguing assortment of cleverly described surplus items - all at great prices.

This is a great place to fine oddities you just cant find at other retailers. From beakers to rubber chickens. You just have to see for yourself. Great fun!

Lots of cool stuff for kids and adults. Masks must be worn... Got a few electrical repair parts, things in the past radio shack would have had. If you child is looking for a science based activity, they solid have something here.

I didnt know what to expect the first time I walked in, but Ive already returned. I purchased gifts for my niece, nephew, and best friend. Theres something for everyone. I found pricing to be very reasonable. Cute signs too.

Super fun store with a massive selection from scientific and medical supplies, kids toys and craft sets, wholesale hardware parts, office supplies, and holiday decorations. Always a joy to browse, and almost always something new and interesting to find! I could (and often do) spend hours in here looking at the variety of neat things they have to offer.

This store is amazing! So many unique and cool things for adults and kids.

I LOVE this place! Definitely one of those places with all the right miscellaneous stuff you didnt know you were looking for if you are into science, crafts and arts! Good educational items as well for the young and young at heart. You can easily spend over an hour just browsing and sparking your creative mind. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back when I have more money to spend!

I cant believe that I am 26 years old and this is the first time I visited the American Science and Surplus store. I really wish I would have visited as a child. There are so many unique things here and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I had a lot of fun looking at the experiment kits and this is a great place to buy things for building robots.

Ridiculous how long you have to wait just to go in the store!! The stupid mask mandate is Ridiculous!! Just a bunch of paranoid people working and managing here!!

Also a lot of loose odds and ends, which make this place unique. What a great idea!Once upon a time, you were able to buy electronic components at radioshack in-store. Not anymore with their switch to reduced inventory. If your in a bind, needing a capacitor, switch, battery pack. Make a stop here rather then waiting 3-4 days for it to ship to you from online.CONS: It is a supply and demand game. Though the prices here are reasonably, you will pay more then if you ordered in advance from Amazon/Ebay. Also the store could use more organisation and selection. But this is only in the way of some is good, more is better.Have to enjoy the quirky price labels! (See image)

Such an interesting, unusual store with note cards on every item giving you real or out of the box ideas on how to use each thing.Great place to bring kids, out of town friends, or any odd ball person you know. Perfect place to get ideas for homeschoolers and anyone that needs ideas for school projects.Some of the items we’ve bought through the years include a telescope, microscope, WWII German gas mask, various other authentic military hats and accessories, electronic parts, science books, cool rocks, and most recently a lifelike rubber skull. We’ve been going for years and love it every time we stop in.

This is a great place to go if you are looking for anything random. They have a lot of science project kits for kids and a great selection of electronic parts. Come here ever time I need small electric motors. The staff is very knowledgeable and has always answered any questions.

AmazingI have to come here when I am in Milwaukee. Some items are only in the store one time. Other supplies are on hand all the time (corked, wire, small electric motors, bearings, test tubes,...).I will be back again and again.Ample parking.Handicap accessible.

A wonderfully whimsical place! Mind engaging gifts and games for all. I love that they also have online service. I recently moved out of town, but I can still access unique & quality educational gifts for the grandkids. Huge selection of too much to list, and too strange to explain! Worth a look see, you are bound to find something you didnt even know you needed!

The selection here is immense. A lot of very unique and hard-to-find, curious little gadgetry everywhere. The quality of the goods ranges. Most of their merchandise is definitely ABOVE the average quality of your Made n China typical, cheap flea-market fare. Their old, military surplus stuff and scientific lab ware is definitely good quality. Prices are so-so. Theyre not super-cheap, but theyre not super expensive either. The pricing is definitely not wholesale blow-out pricing, thats for sure. More mid-range, if anything. If I had to rate the overall quality and selection of the merchandise, Id give them 4 out of 5 stars. As far as prices being fair to the consumer, Id say 2.5 out of 5 stars.

If youve never been here, plan for at least an hour of laughing, hands on demos, and learning. I found a handful of things I never knew I needed in my life. This store has been in business for decades. Nothing else like it. It carries unique items from all over the world. Many are surplus military. They carry great science kits for all ages, telescopes, microscopes, etc. Great place to get kids interested in science and engineering. Fun place to shop.

Go explore. You have nothing to loose. This is where the cool kids shop. Buy a lab coat and play mad scientist. You will find all the nifty stuff for your science projects.

Always an incredible assortment of surplus! I have been shopping here for over 30 years and the more things change the more they stay the same! Be prepared to spend at least an hour here looking at all the exotic and interesting surplus they have!

I love their selection of fun activity kits and materials for kids and adults. Lots of inexpensive stuff to purchase. They carry most of the science related stuff you find on Amazon except its better to be able to see them up close. Just wish it was more organized. Store could use a physical upgrade. I do hope their business stays open for a long time. Me and my family love going here.
